    I still think its Webber,remember when he met up with Jackson mom outside the hospital.They were both talking about going to another convention or something on that order.Anyway they were both leaving in a few days....so i think Webber was on that plane.

    From the promo, Arizona seems to be in pretty bad shape. Lexie too (canadian promo). We don't know if Callie and Teddy were on the plane. So it's one of these four. All the others were at the hospital.

    We know that Derek, Meredith and Christine renewed.  That leaves Lexie, Arizona and others.  I don't think Lexie will be it because she is little Grey, Arizona ... I hope not; however, Hunt or April committing suicide would twist the airplane disaster.  Meredith "died" once when she drowned so I wonder if that is the type of death that's going to happen.  I think it will be Mrs. Webber after all she is already ill and it would twist the airplane crash into what is unexpected.

     I've seen both the US and canadian promo and Derek, Mark, Mer, Christina are very much alive. Lexie and Arizona are in bad shape. It's either one of them or Callie, cause she was on the plane also. All the other ones are at the hospital or declared safe by TV Line.

     It's not Webber or Derek... James Pickens and Patrick Dempsey have both renewed their contracts for another 2 years. So... It's either Lexie, Mark, Arizona.... in the plane crash. Or... it could be Jackson, April, Owen, or Callie dying some other way.

    I hope its not lexie.  Not because I particularlly like the character but I just could not stand the emotional fall out next season from Meredith losing her sister and Mark the woman he loves.  That would make them un functional for most of next season and take away a lot of the enjoyment.  I wold be sad if it was arizona, but i feel this would at least be the best answer so as to enable next season to have other storylines apart from the loss of one character.  Lexies death would pretty much ensure that all next season was about people recovering fromthat, and that was what season 7 was about, them recovering from the shooting.  I don't want it to become too repetative and too emotional.  i enjoy the mix of humour and emotion and don't want it ti go too dark, as I think that would be it for me.

    harboring these secret feelings for him. As we've watched the season
    grow and he's become more involved with Julia, we've seen Lexie lose it a
    bit. She's realized her feelings for him, and I think we are going to
    see that come to a head in a way that's beautiful and possibly
    bittersweet and kind of lovely."

    'Bittersweet' has been stuck in my head. I really don't want to be right but I think Lexie will be the one dying.

    I don't think it will be Kepner. I feel like they're building up this Jackson/Kepner relationship and it would offer good material for next season. I think killing herself seems unlikely, honestly.

    I'm leaning toward Arizona dying. Lexi would cause too much emotional fall out next season (as another poster said). I feel like Arizona is the only option. Plus, the actress that plays her has recently had a couple babies, right? She might be looking to have some time with family?

    Jesus, so many emotions and thoughts right now. Can't handle it. I think so too that Jackson and Kepner are safe. I don't know if I got that right, but Alex's demands kinda caused April being fired. I'm guessing maybe he's the one to leave and Kepner will be back in some way.
    I think it's Arizona that dies too, after the "never leave me" speech it makes sense. Everyone else on that plane has unfinished business.

    In this promo it SEEMS to be Derek what means he's not the one who dies (and we know that Dempsey has a new contract). I'm afraid it's Arizona. Her death would be a reason for Alex to stay in Seattle and replace her.

    Callie was not on the plane, neither was the Chief. The only people on the plane are Meredith, Derek, Mark, Cristina, Arizona and Lexie. We already Meredith, Mark, Derek and Cristina are going to be okay. The question marks will be Arizona and Lexie.

    Given that contract negotiations with the originals are completed, we know that Derek, Meredith, Cristina, Alex, Webber and Bailey are safe. Ausiello has already spoiled that Jackson and Mark are safe. Kevin McKidd has already confirmed that he will be back next season, so Hunt is safe.

     I have been going on by what Shonda said,a beloved original cast member. I had certain people that i thought it was going to be but since she said original i've been like a damn ping pong ball going back and forth.
     I've gotten to the point where i don't care who it is anymore,( well not really,its just frustrating). But,if it isn't an original cast member i will truly be pissed off,for then it would be a publicity stunt...   btw i don't want anyone to go,just so u know!  :)

    Let's put this context. When Shonda answered that question via Twitter, the fan specifically asked about Patrick Dempsey because he had not been mentioned among the ones that Ausiello said were safe. I would have to assume that Shonda thought Ausiello had mentioned PD, when he hadn't, so she answered  that they shouldn't believe Ausiello. However, please note that this was way before the signings were confirmed.

    You have to put this into context. When Shonda answered that tweet to that fan, the fan had specifically asked about Patrick Dempsey because Ausiello had not mentioned him to be safe, and Shonda answered not to believe Ausiello, even though he had not mentioned PD. If you look at the Canadian tv promo, Mark is clearly alright.

And if it's Arizona it's BOTH Alex and Mark, because Arizona IS family for Mark.... oh it's gonna be Arizona.... They've been grooming Lexie to be the backup Grey, and I don't think they'd kill her off. And killing Arizona gives "drama" stories for Callie, Alex, Mark, Teddy.... my brain is working overtime with this.... I think I'll take a break.

    I believe it will be April that dies.  Probably a suicide.  She failed her Boards, all of her offers were withdrawn, including from Seattle Grace, and--in her mind most importantly--she broke her promise to Jesus.  She failed her congregation and has now failed life.  She has nowhere to go.  She storms out of the bar and, at the end, we'll see her hanging from a closet pole in her apartment.  That's my take.

    Lexie is definitely gonna die. Arizona is sitting in front of the airplane door at 0:02. So she is safe. Lexie is under the plane wing and it's really hard to lift up the heavy plane wing for only 3 people. So she is stuck under the plane wing and can't get outside.

    We know that Meredith, Derek, Cristina, Alex, Bailey and Webber will return next season, so none of them is gonna die. Mark, Jackson and Owen won't die either because they've all been declared safe. I agree that the death doesn't necessarily have to be involved with the plain crash, but I really doubt that Callie or Teddy would die sitting around the hospital. As for Kepner: she's just been on the show for what now? 2 years. It wouldn't make sense. Plus, Shonda already said that the death would piss off the fans, and while I like Kepner as much as you can like her, the fans would not be pissed off enough for her to mention that fact. So combining the not yet announced contract renewals and the fact that the death will piss off fans (and also there was a lot of crying at the table read), this only really leaves either Lexie or Arizona, because they're really the loveliest characters on the show. And I wouldn't count on the promos to help solve this riddle, it's scenes from the whole episode cut together so as to make the fans think it's either one of them. But, since Shonda also said it was an original cast member, I think it's more likely to be Lexie. It would rock a lot of people's worlds. It would be tragic. It would most definately piss off the fans.

    Lexie dieing will affect Mark, Meredith and Derek the most. MerDer won't
    leave. Mer will be traumatized and Cristina will stay 2 support her.
    Lexie dated Alex so he'll be affected too and won't leave.
    Callie/Arizona wont have that effect. Only Alex will stay and MArk'll be
    affected.

    Reminds my of the scene in 8.14 where Lexie was talking to Zola about not waiting too long to tell somebody that you love him/her in case it could be too late and you die before you can say anything... And that makes me even more worried about Lexie dying...

The rest will stay no matter who dies I believe - they are in shock, terrified, one of their partners or friends is severely injured and needs to stay.

    I also believe that at the end of the season a lot of lives will still be in danger (maybe similar to the finale where either George or Izzie died), so we won't know who is REALLY save until the season nine premiere or when other actors renew their contracts.

    Oh and I also read that somewhere that Justin Chambers said he had been working close with that character... I know that could technically be Lexie since they dated at some point... And they live together, but still, Arizona fits the profile much better.

    In terms of pissing off the fans, we can also factor the fact Callie and Arizona are one of the only lesbian couples on TV right now, so killing one of them off would start a firestorm from a political point of view too (because if you've got one stable lesbian couple and it ends up dead, well, you've got zero representation, and shonda can't hope to "replace" Arizona that easily without Callie seeming callous).
    It would also provide maximum fallout, since it'd affect Callie, Alex, and Mark.
    It seems logical one of the people on the plane dies.

    Everybody has overlooked Callie. She is beloved. She's been a main character since mid season one. Arizona will be devestated. Alex won't leave because he will stay for Arizona. This is just the kind of twist Shondra would make.

     Me too... because of what she says to Callie at the end of the last episode...even before the crash I was like...ok well it is one of them too after that conversation.... so then Karev feels to guilty to leave Seattle I suppose....
