Gossip Girl - Season 6 - Press Release

17 May 2012

Six years after the first Gossip Girl blast rocked the Upper East Side and viewers at home, GOSSIP GIRL, a one-hour drama about the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite, executive produced by Josh Schwartz (Chuck, The O.C.), Stephanie Savage (The O.C.), Sara Goodman, Bob Levy and Les Morgenstein, returns for an unforgettable final season.

Season six opens with the Upper East Siders working together to find one of their own. Serena has gone off the grid, beyond even the reach of Gossip Girl. Her friends fear for the worst and hope for the best, but even they can't imagine where they will ultimately find her. Meanwhile, Blair has offered Chuck her heart, but is her love enough to help him win back his empire? Lonely Boy Dan has written a new book that promises to make even more trouble than the first, and this time he has no desire to remain anonymous. Nate is determined to finally reveal the true identity of Gossip Girl, thereby making a name for The Spectator, and himself. Lily and Rufus turn on one another when Rufus makes a surprising new ally who threatens Lily and her family. Anywhere else it would be too much drama to handle, but this is the Upper East Side. And when Bart Bass, Jack Bass and Georgina Sparks show up to raise hell, it's a fight to the spectacular series finale. Who comes out on top? That's one secret I'll never tell... xoxo, Gossip Girl.

The series stars Blake Lively as Serena van der Woodsen, Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf, Penn Badgley as Dan Humphrey, Chace Crawford as Nate Archibald, Ed Westwick as Chuck Bass, Kaylee Defer as Charlie Rhodes, Kelly Rutherford as Lily van der Woodsen and Matthew Settle as Rufus Humphrey. Filmed in New York and based on the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, GOSSIP GIRL is from Fake Empire and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios with executive producers Josh Schwartz ("Chuck," "The O.C."), Stephanie Savage ("The O.C."), Leslie Morgenstein ("The Vampire Diaries"), Bob Levy ("The Vampire Diaries") and Sara Goodman ("Reunion").

  2. Well, I hope for the best too!  Hopefully all of these characters will get their proper ending and the show will have an amazing send off!  I'm glad it's going to be back to finish the story.  Sounds like season 6 could be great!

  4. I think the CW is starting their fall season in October, and Gossip Girl will be back then on Monday nights at 9pm after 90210!

  5. That' s good, i was afraid it would return next year and we would have to wait really long before we find out how it ends!

  6. I was too!  But, it looks like GG will air until mid-season (the entire 11 episode run) and then be replaced by The Carrie Diaries. :)

  8. Cw sucks! Your all pathetic. None of these shows are good, not the old ones and none of the new ones sound good. Ill stick with abcfamily thanks.. they kick cws ass everyweek and will continue. I hope the network goes under. What a worthless channel.

  9. This sounds amazing! I would like to forget season five ever happened. It was quite possibly the worst season of any show, ever, and that includes Dawson's Creek season five (moment of silence for that craptastic season..)

NJBC! Chuck and Blair! Bart and Jack Bass! Georgie! And can we please finally see Dan be a true Lonely Boy? No friends, nada? Pretty please!

  10. I could have written this press release in one sentence:

"We've got eleven episodes to put this mess out of its misery."

  13. They better go out with a BANG (translation: Keep Josh Safran as far away from this show as possible. Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz, please come back and TAKE OVER.)

  15. agree completely. i used to love this show, but i think i watched like half the season last year, and even less this year. i am glad that they're giving it a legit-ending, instead of just canceling it. although i don't see why they couldn't have done that this year.

  16. Worthless trash...

  17. Kaylee DeFer as Charlie Rhodes? They can even remember what she really is. If it was Charlie Rhodes/Ivy Dickens, I would it pass, but really?

And well when I read that Rufus got a surprising ally, I instantly knew. Not so surprising though thus far..

  18. I'm weirdly excited to see Rufus and Lily at war. It's about time that man gets something back from what being Lily's trophy husband did to him. And I figured it was too much to ask for everyone to leave Serena to rot. Ah, well. You can't have everything.

  19. Eric I can get behind - I didn't like what they did to Vanessa, and Jenny just makes me cringe. She can stay in whatever corner of purgatory they banished her to.

  20. I know you how feel but it ain't going to happen. Vanessa, maybe just maybe but not likely.

  21. Well, it sounds like there will some classic NJBC in the first few episodes. I kind of hate that Georgina is married because her and evil Dan could probably set The UES on fire together. I've always liked their chemistry. Rufus and Ivy, I hope they succeed in taking down that selfish cow named Lily. She has always been my least favorite character. Her only saving grace was always being there for Chuck but now that she actually took Bart back she is due for comeuppance. Fingers crossed for a huge time jump before the finale!
