    My guess is that Gossip Girl's producers want more episodes and The CW probably want less.

    I think that they should do 13 with the premiere and the finale being two episodes each, just get it out of the way and make room for some young blood. They are going to need a really big time jump because they have reset the characters and brought them down way too far to make a sensible transition to where the fans (or any good writer would) want the characters to end.
