At first I wondered if Jorah had taken the dragons to keep them safe after the attack... or even if Arstan Whitebeard showed up to do the same, but it more likely was the warlocks.
From the preview we can see it was NOT Jorah since Dany tells him to find her dragons.
It looks quite odd to me to have one lone figure carrying the dragons someplace.... If the warlocks attacked Xaro's place with him and Dany gone I would expect it would have been a number of mercenaries or warlocks or unsullied etc.
One lone figure makes me think it could be Whitebeard perhaps.....and there was in fact a long staff across his shoulders to support the make shift dragon cage.... Hmmmm.....
Here is my reasoning, but I can see it five different ways! XD - My first thought was Jorah since it was a single man carrying them in a makeshift cage. But why indeed?- If it was whoever is responsible for the dead Dothraki at Xaro's I would expect it to be more than one man. - If the warlocks were responsible I would expect them to be within eyesight of their new invaluable treasure!
For it to be Whitebeard it would go down like this. Someone (Warlocks or otherwise) tried to assassinate Daenerys at Xaro's or simply steal the dragons while Xaro and Dany were at the Spice King's home.
Having no desire in life other than to protect the person on the Throne (or who should be on the Throne), Whitebeard has been getting close to Daenerys in an attempt to protect her while still being unrecognized. In a city where they walk around in hoods frequently tht would not be difficult.
When Dany's Khallasar and Xaro's house went under attack Whitebeard stepped in to protect "The Queen's children", her dragons. He killed those responsible for killing Xaro and/or Dany's people and fled with the dragons to keep them safe.
- It fits with the books as to Whitebeard's motivations and why he is in Essos.
- He is one of the few men that could take out an assassination squad (or a group sent to steal the dragons) single-handedly.
- HBO decided to not do a manticore attack to save on VFX, but still wanted some attempt on Dany or her dragons life.
- Strong Belwas has not been cast and this would serve as an AWESOME introduction to Whitebeard.
So that's it. Some is a stretch and some makes perfect sense... Mostly though I was just shocked to see the white beard under the cowl when I freeze framed the shot! XD
Interesting...I still don't buy it though. I think Selmy is too Honorable for this. It'd be weird too if he stole her dragons then was like, "Oh yeah, also can I be one of your guards?"
Also, Im not so sure that is even a beard, looks like lens flare to me.
- Theon needs to die by wolf. - Speaking of Theon, he's starting to act a little like Joffrey. - Jorah's burden seems to get heavier all the time. - This Sansa / Sandor thing is getting oddly personal.
I had a very odd thought over Winter when I read some of the books again..... Wouldn't be like GRRM to make Theon the Azor Ahai or the Prince Who Was Promised? He has one of the roughest stories and he has been reborn out of salt and smoke certainly....
I don't actually think he will turn out to be AA or TPWWP but one can make a case for it.... That said, I'd rather see a direwolf get him! XD
Looks like I will be definitely be getting my audible, 'Oh, Theon' moment yet again in this episode. I get a little Dany action so the episode seems promising. I just wish the season was at least two episodes loner, waiting another whole year (with no new book in sight, I'm going to lose it (again)).
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
awesome !
ReplyDeleteWow now this looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteA promo still for next week from HBO.
ReplyDeleteWhere was Jorah and Bronn, they could've made situations go easier

Okay, I am more certain now. Note the white beard under the cowl....
ReplyDeleteThought I would post the original too so you can see I did not add the beard! XD
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your detective work! :)
ReplyDeleteEpic
ReplyDeleteWhy would whitebeard steal the Dragons? Seems out of chracter no?
ReplyDeleteI think they were stolen by a warlock to lure her to the HOTU.
Here is my reasoning, but I can see it five different ways! XD

Can't wait til next week to find out!
If it is him and he did it for the reasons I outline, I don't see it as he "stole" them at all.
ReplyDeleteHe protecting them and took them to a place of safety more so...
I still think it is as likely or more that is related to the 13 or the warlocks..... but I like the idea of Arstan appearing so much!
AT LAST JAIME! Seriously I need his epic journey to begin
ReplyDeleteAWESOME trailer for next week! I hope she finds her dragons!

Careful there might be SanSan shippers around :)
ReplyDeleteHeh. If there are, you can send their names along to Dateline NBC and Chris Hansen.
