Whoa! Evil Leonard Nimoy! I guess I forgot that the universe changed when Peter linked the two parallel universes. Thus, how we witnessed Williams death was different from what happen in the time-line of when two universes were linked. I always like the character that Mr. Nimoy presents in any series with smart, ingenious, and with somewhat deep and mysterious character core. I liked the chess set he had in his possession and I especially like the remark of patience and when to make the sacrifice, I don't know I guess I'm a sucker for Leonard Nimoy, lol. When William said to sacrifice a Bishop, I thought he meant Walter, but I guess not, but then again if you think about it, Walter is more contributable than Peter and then it was David Robert Jones who was the Bishop, wow.
As for Walter, first thing, I have to agree with his statement about the administrator, even though I haven't seen the previous one. My Goodness, does Walter know about William too much or what, but nonetheless, it was interesting.
For Olivia, I have no idea how the hell she was able to control Peter movement maybe she was controlling the neural signals from the brain to spinal cord, which are electric, so maybe that's how.
Overall, awesome episode, but then again which episode isn't awesome or beyond when it comes Fringe and Will Astrid Survive?!?!
- I'm so glad they did not leave the pregnancy reveal as a cliffhanger! Letting Peter know now gives them time to resolve some of the issues that go along with their baby...
- Well Charlotte, you may experience some headaches, lightheadedness and nosebleeds.....
- Will Olivia use her super-Cotexiphan ninja skills to turn off the nanobots? Indeed.
- I wonder how many people were in the air from jumping for joy upon hearing the resonant laugh of Nimoy's William Bell?!?!?!?! Count me as one of them that was airborn.
- Lemoncakes? Are the Fringe team Game of Thrones fans? XD
- Cortexiphan gives regenerative powers? So if Olivia is "shot dead" by Man X/ William Bell will she heal and "come back to life"?
- Whoa! Speaking of ninja skills! Olivia just Gameboyed Peter! "FINISH HIM!!!!"
- Import-Export.... Is that the parent company of our Cortexiphan Noah's Arc? Indeed.
Overall this was a brilliant set-up or part 1 of the finale!
1) is that the Alt-Bell? I'm going to have to assume so. Pretty sure Nina even said it,2) Holy F, Olivia's powers now include manipulation of cells and mind control.3) I'm not shocked DRJ was just a pawn for Bell. Or, a bishop, as they said.4) Did you SEE THE X ON THE NANITE BOTS??? That's X. That's Bell. BELL = THE X MAN WHO KILLS OLIVIA!5) You killed Astrid, you BASTARDS!6) I think Olivia is already preggers. This creates a whole interesting dynamic for the finale. After this episode, I don't even know what to expect.
Brilliant episode. Was blindsided by Astrid getting shot. GO OLIVIA. She kicked some major ass tonight. It's going to come down to Walter vs Bell and that's one fight that I wouldn't miss for anything.
Whats with the writers suddenly making all mythology characters evil? First the Observers and now Bell? Sigh. I really liked the Walter/Bell 'friendship' too.
Went in without being spoiled and it was totally worth it. I don't know how they top one episode with the next. Brilliant. Can't wait till next week, only because I want to know what happens.
He had assumed Bell sent him to kill Peter since Bell said a "Bishop" had to be sacrificed. In the end it was not a reference to the name Bishop, but to a position of power since Jones was Bell's bishop.
:O My brain is somewhere after 'that epic explosion'. Watched whole episode curled up like a kitten just so that I'm not disturbed to miss even a split second with my slight body shifts. Had to glue the eye. Oh and did I say that this episode was freaking awesome... no... it was EPIC. Go invent a word for next episode because epic won't suffice anymore. Seriously! This is one of the most brilliant but underrated and overly ignored show. I guess a predisposed bias of "Sci-Fi" stop people from taking relish of this wonderful dish named 'Fringe'.
Before I begin, I highly recommend listening to this song as you read my review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJhVM930YXY I first heard this during a movie called The Mist, a movie based on a story by Stephen King (an author I will extensively reference throughout this article). Not only is it one of the most beautiful and haunting songs I have ever heard in my life, it perfectly captures the gut-wrenching tragedy of Fringe and my own emotional state following this episode. Enjoy.
Now, to business. I was so right... and so wrong. I've been convinced William Bell would return since the end of March. I thought he would be the Crimson King; seeking apotheosis on the ashes of destroyed reality. I thought DRJ would be his jealous and unfaithful lackey; his Flagg, his Peter Pettigrew. I punched the air when Leonard Nimoy's name came up in the credits; and I was laughing hysterically when he showed up onscreen.
I nailed it completely, and yet... the closer I am, the less sense it makes. Is this Our Bell, or the Other? Given his horrible case of bedhead, I think it's the Other. Could his death in the original timeline have NOT occurred? Maybe it's connected to the car accident that killed Bobby Joyce; in this timeline, no Peter means no car crash. I don't know. And what could possibly come of burning Boston to the ground? Getting rid of the evidence of his plot? Also, (and this is VERY important) why didn't Bell reject DRJ this time around? Consider this dialogue from There's More Than One Of Everything:
NINA: Well, it's true Jones used to work for William Bell 15 years ago. In fact, he was one of our first employees at Massive Dynamic. But he was let go. OLIVIA: Why? NINA: The details are not important. Suffice to say that Jones felt spurned by the rejection. William was a father figure to him, a respected mentor. I would go as far as to say that all the death and destruction that Jones has caused up until this point has been a way of proving something to William.
Rebecca Mader's first guest appearance wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. I thought she would be tied to DRJ and Meana. There's still time for that, though.
I was shocked to see Astrid get shot; but she's alive in 2036, so she'll be okay. Here's hoping Olivia survives next week.
Can we have a moment of silence for our dearly departed DRJ? Going out is a puff of ignominious smoke was a terrible way to go. And having Olivia use Peter as a Cortexiphan puppet was one of the stupidest things I've seen in a very long time. Such a badass villain did not deserve to die like that. Who else was hoping he'd be cut in half again? If I remember correctly, Randall Flagg died a poor death also.
Too many WTF, WTH and HOLY CRAP moments in this episode. I can't imagine what the finally we'll be like! I've been evoiding spoiler this week and it was worth it. Hope I can do the same this week. And HOW THE HELL did they get LEONARD NIMOY??? I thought he was done appearing on tv and movies (except for lending his voice here and there). That must've been one hell of a negotiation. I'm glad he did it. Astrid (Alex??) kicked ass in the final moments, I really hope she makes it through. Is it next friday yet?
I voted for ... *drums please* *AWESOME* I't's been added on my "One of the Best Fringe Epi".... Breathtaken as usual..... and ALex.. sorry Astrid .... O_O !!! ♥
Uhm... WHAT THE ****? I am going to reach into my ****ing television and rip William Bell's ***damn face off, and feed it to that son of a bitch that shot my Asteroid. I'm not even fuckin' kidding.
Every 5 minutes there was something that made me go slack jawed in awe, but this... There will be hell to pay!!!!
Hmmmm... I had an odd series of thoughts and I think I solved one of the mysteries of the season and the finale!
- Bell "inhabited" Olivia's body once before via the soul magnets.....- September has said he has "looked at" every possible future and "Olivia" has to die.- 2 week's ago we saw Walter steal Bell's hand from the Amber...- On the train Astrid says "William Bell? You just left him there. We need him don't we? Otherwise how are we going to get access" [Walter cuts her off] - Walter responds saying" It's ok". Then he shows her Bell's hand and says "We have everything we need."- We see Bell ringing the soul magnet bell in the promo for next week.... - We see Walter shooting someone as Peter runs up saying "Noo!"Walter will shoot Olivia. The reason we did not see Olivia in 2036 was because.. well, we actually did see her in the amber since she was inside William Bell's body at the time! They were discussing how they were going to "retrieve" Olivia after the Soul Magnets swap by Bell. Astrid was asking how they would get Olivia back and Walter was saying having Bell's hand (with Olivia inside) was all they needed to get Olivia back.September either saw Olvia's body being shot and did not realize Bell was inside of it...... Or September was being all cryptic to add to the drama and knew that Bell had to be inside Olivia's body for them to stop bell! It all fits together quite nicely! Although with FRINGE that means little and I am likely way off! XD
I hope your predictions may come to be... even by slightest. It would be awesome. I can already see the fitting of puzzle board. But you are also spot on in saying "THIS IS FRINGE (And weirdly I'm kind of feeling all Sparta somehow :P)".
I think September really thought original Olivia will be dying coz in that earlier timeline she died for/by the reasons of wrong intentions. This time also she may die for Bell's (wrong) intentions. Villains have phase-shifted, the situation is same... may be that's all September saw. (Purely my personal Opi!)
I wouldn't say the Observers are evil, at least not collectively. September and August definitely aren't/weren't and July, March, and January seem to be following orders only. December is sketchy, but the ones who do not observe (but INVADE), those are truly evil.
I guess I would rather have Astrid shot than anyone else on Fringe team personally. Everything in the series is predicated on Walter and his past actions, Peter is important because of those actions and Olivia is the golden child that is the ultra-FZT soldier. Astrid is..... she is... well I guess she's the one that phones them and tells them where to go. XD
All that said, she is fun and I like her, and I will continue to like her next week and next season when she is alive! XD
oh my gosh. I was so surprised. I even missed his name int he credits. I tend to avoid the bigger spoilers for this show so I was shocked. I thought Nimoy was done with on-screen acting. But then again, actors always say they are retiring. :P
I think Walter's remark about the administrator was also an inside joke, cos the actress playing the administrator was Samantha Noble, John Noble's daughter hehe
I think Olivia used telekinesis to control Peter's movement, just like she was able to rid the security of their guns.
I really hope Astrid survives, though I doubt it. Can't handle yet another death so soon.
Oh, didn't know about the character, who played the administrator, was John Noble's daughter, cool. Well, I still agree with him, lol, and Olivia having more powers just doesn't sit right with me, i don't know why, I guess she has mind related powers, so telekinesis is fine, but just doesn't sit right with me that somehow she can tell if someone's from another universe by visual indication, which kind of doesn't have anything to do with mind ability than visual, I don't know :(
Somebody SHOT ASTRID! WHAT? Save her! Anyone! ASAP! Olivia was AWESOME today: saving Charlotte, I mean, Rebecca, I mean, Jessica, you get the point! Also how cool was her&Peter's fight with Jones! Glad he's gone! But talk about UNITED couple here;)
Plus, I never liked Bell, always had a bad feeling about him, so I'm not surprised to see him evil. Just wish he wasn't. For Walter at least.
I have thought Bell was Man X for a while now, but I am leaning away ever so slowly after seeing the prview... Maybe The gun going off was Bell shooting Olivia, but it was certainly edited to look like Walter had the gun....
Here's a cap of the nanobots for those that missed the "X"...
I think you know what you mean. This episode discussed too many subjects without focusing on one main purpose for this episode. It was like a bunch of awesomeness but not connected well to each other. That annoyed me a bit, but it isn't a reason IMO to vote "Good". It was totally super mind blowing.
I don't think Olivia will heal herself after she is "shot dead". After all, she did die in last year's finale. Maybe she can only heal herself but not come back to life.
THE BISHOP REVIVAL - I am the Bishop. So instantly did David Robert Jones come believe that William Hell/Bell (unclear) had set him up to fail against Olivia via attacking Peter, but considering his German background, the way the spontaneous combustion at fist seemed similar to the non-aging possibly time traveling work of Hoffman in "The Bishop Revival", and the fact that they are named Robert makes me wonder if there are these indicate that Jones might of had more direct ties to Robert Bishop?
It also occurs to me that Belly like a certain kind of imported chili, that hints that he once (in another time line) was responsible for the creation of the Observers, as there are ties here back to "August", but also the paper with the chili harks back to Henry Bishop ("Bloodline"), as he was once a Bishop to sacrifice...
Once again this reality presents a different set of physical laws as now the cortexiphan can "regenerate" (revive) life...including brain matter...
And poor Astrid! -Although it was So great to see her in action...unless that future happens before the series, or in yet another time line, the cortexiphan or Olivia saves her, it's hard to see with a dead Astrid how we get to 2036.
Olivia too has been acting rather strange lately as well....the Olivia from the previous timeline was getting over her abilities, but she seems to be really frightened by them now. It makes me think that Mr. X is on the rise and she knows it...I also saw the Chi Rho on the church...which strangely I used when first getting into the possibility of whom Mr. X could be as the symbol consists a P, X, and sometimes an O and deals with/represents the Resurrection of Christ. http://www.spoilertv.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=22516
Abviously the animal shapeshifters are at the warehouse! If William Bell didn't want the sun to burn Boston, then what the heck does he want? Is he trying to get the Observers attention?
As for Jessica Holt, I don't think we're done with her, and I think she may be a part of Bell's/Jones project. I think again Bell is testing Olivia. Rebecca Madder did a good job! I liked seeing her attempt to play someone warmer, even if it's fake.
It was nice to see John Nobel's daughter and it was fun to watch Walter kind of bicker back and forth with her...and then again he keeps telling young women how beautiful they are!
Can't wait for next week! And thanks Leonard Nimoy for returning!!!! XD
Oh that reminds me. I was looking for the photo, but could not find it last night....
We got a promo picture of someone holding up a vial labeled with a name for an episode somewhere in the teens I think (4.14-4.17) didn't we? IT could have been a screencapture I did for one of the promo videos too I guess... One of the quick flashes I capped.... grrrr.......
Was Jessica Holt the name on the vial? It just sounded so familiar to me and made me think of that blood sample or vial that was labeled in the promo photo..... Annoys me I cannot find it now!
Astrid survives. She's obviously fine in 2015-2016 (whenever) when she and the others go into amber. She had no sign of a gunshot in 2036. And how can you say that about DRJ? He was probably the best villain on this show, and he got one of the stupidest deaths I've ever seen on television; which is saying something, considering how the Man in Black died on Lost.
IT almost seemed like that Jones has cloned himself made a Mini-Me in one of the episodes last month. Younger, blonde courier guy with glasses who looked like he was part of Sprockets from SNL! XD
Yeah that's right, that's what also reminded me of Alias, Arvin's Clone, and The Muller Devise, along with Fringe's "Better human being"....
The way Jessica went about not understanding Walter and visa verse is very similar to Miranda in "The Tempest" (Brave New World novel gets it's name from her character in the play) --in which a character laughs at something most wouldn't, either because she doesn't know it's not something to laugh at, or because she knows something everyone else doesn't. Perhaps Jessica Holt is another one of these -genetically modified children shape shifters...of course she could be an animal one too (but I didn't see any cuneiform tattoos.)
It seems that way and mostly likely will be, but they could do something else. They could kill Olivia too and have Peter "zap" back to the end of season 3...then 2036 would be destined for the season 1-3 timeline and Peter's experience would save Asrtid and Olivia from being killed more immediately...
Darth i gotta hand it to you,you turn my world upside down! :P My brain hurts at times because of you..its a good thing,i like having to think but WOW what tongue are you speaking in this morning... :D
Unfortunately, for me, as fun as the episodes are, I find each one frustrating nowadays. The re-set after Peter disappeared has been explained poorly, and it's leading me to being frustrated every single week.
Bell died in a car crash... to me he didn't. Jones lives... to me he was chopped in half.
etc, etc, etc, etc... It doesn't matter how much of a spin I try to put on it... I think the writers have been a bit below par at explaining away these issues.
I thought Peter was saving the world with the machine, but actually he's brought back to life the two most evil characters from the dead... Who are destroying the world. And so now the machines been turned off... It all doesn't make much logical sense really...
I have to agree with everything you said and in the way you feel! I couldn't freakin believe they shot Astrid it literally took my breath away, and it shocked me. I thought they were dealing with a virus and it turned out being nanites,i shouldn't have been surprised by that but i was.. Bell coming back,Olivia with her powers, with child.lord one thing on top of another,i kept saying wow, wow, wow WOW!!!!! To think this was only part one,i can't wait to see what they have in store for us in the season finale! Gee, that's the last time we can say season finale.....
I don't think we're going back to the 2026 timeline. That has already been erased. Though I would like to know what happened in Detroit in the 2026 timeline, I think we are going to Observerville 2036. Thinking about it some more, I know where I went wrong in my interpretation. I thought Bell would be in some sort of spirit form, like Lord Voldemort at the beginning of Goblet of Fire; and that DRJ would be the cowardly and disloyal servant that nursed him back to health (like Peter Pettigrew). Perhaps in exchange for helping him into physical form again, Bell reassembled DRJ into his pre-DizRay, pre-cut-in-half form.
However, what we saw last night was something entirely different. We saw something that was a lot closer to the Sith Lords from Star Wars. Bell is Darth Sidious; and though there's no exact match for DRJ, I would say Darth Maul is the closest fit, given his loyalty to Sidious. Plus, Maul was also cut in half, so there's that.
After going through Eyes Without A face lyrics, I am pretty sure now that at some point we will be going back to season our previous time line...
Eyes Without A Face Song Lyrics:I'm all out of hopeOne more bad dream could bring a fallWhen I'm far from homeDon't call me on the phoneTo tell me you're aloneIt's easy to deceiveIt's easy to teaseBut hard to get releaseLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceGot no human grace your eyes without a face.I spend so much time Believing all the lies To keep the dream alive Now it makes me sad It makes me mad at truth For loving what was youLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceGot no human grace your eyes without a face. When you hear the music you make a dipInto someone else's pocket then make a slip.steal a car and go to Las Vegas oh, the gigolo pool.Hanging out by the state line,Turning holy water into wineDrinkin' it down, ohI'm on a bus on a psychedelic tripReading murder books tryin' to stay hip.I'm thinkin' of you you're out there soSay your prayers.Say your prayers.Say your prayers. Now I close my eyesAnd I wonder whyI don't despiseNow all I can doIs love what was onceSo alive and newBut it's gone from your eyesI'd better realiseLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceGot no human grace your eyes without a face.Such a human waste your eyes without a faceAnd now it's getting worse. So from this it seems to play at Olivia dying, or loosing her season 1-3 memory she just regained, because Peter said, when he looked into her eyes, he knew it was "his" [former] Olivia.Second: Before Peter goes into the machine at the end of season 3, he was on LSD and shared conscience with Olivia and Walter. One of the lyrics I underlined was "I'm on a bus, on a psychedelic trip..." Walter was on top the bus in LSD. "Redding Murder Books, trying to stay hip" --Mr. "X" = the death of Olivia. Peter may be getting a glimpse in this time line on how to prevent Olivia's death in the previous time line, as reading murder books would give someone insight on how to prevent a murder. "I'm thinking of you, but you're OUT THERE." -May imply that the time line is still out there, because is in the machine having an experience....'So say your prayers" -Chi Rho appears on the church when Jessica and Olivia walk by...
Quite sad that Astrid got shot, but also annoyed that, that scene didn't really last long, she got shot, Walter got a little upset, Bell spreads his evilness and that was it. Found the Olivia controlling Peter bit kinda funny, but awesome!
That was my gut reaction to her being shot. And with how many things they change on this show, you can't just assume she's going to live at this point. I personally believe that these events WILL line up to 4x19, and she will survive, but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to be upset about it.
And I can say that about DRJ because he had an awesome death in 1x20 :P No, but really I didn't like how he just...died in this episode, but there was so much going on (including realizing that DRJ isn't the big kahuna and it's actually Mr. Bell) that I was a bit overwhelmed and have yet to actually articulate my feelings on everything.
I just expected more cohesion to the overall story and at least some resolution even thought it was a 1st-parter. plus I hate the fact that the Reverse is hanging in limbo. I still need to rewatch it to get what I may be missing, but it wasn't awesome to me. Good to great but not awesome.
On a second viewing of the episode, I caught something Walter said about his experiment with the lemon cake. Cortexiphan, as he said, helps cell regeneration, as was evidenced by the reforming of the cake. So, now that Astrid is wounded, who says a little Cortexiphan wouldn't heal the wound?
That's why I think this reality isn't corporeal...I think he is still in the machine and I am starting to think Letters of Transit is the "future" of the season1-3 time line, and not season 4's...
Pinkner/Wyman had explained that Peter's machine, the way it works is like "The Christmas "Carol...Scrooge via 'ghosts' "envisioned" various time periods (parts of various time lines) so that he could "change" and have a better future. In Fringe case, the season 4 time line might be able to help Peter save Olivia and Astrid, because it gives him hints at what is really going on BTS...what he should pay attention too (Bell, MD, Nina/Meana, ZFT) ---But clearly they still would have to deal with the Observers (this way both Henry and Henrietta would survive!)
I doubt that it was that hard to get him back, I saw a video last year of him talking about doing the voice work for 319 and he said he would love to come back, even if it wasn't voice work.
This episode was packed full of awesome! So many cool and exciting things packed into this episode! Had a few thoughts though.
- I was so giddy and surprised that they got Leonard Nimoy to do this! But how? He looked kinda off in the episode imo. Did Fringe CGI a Leonard Nimoy and just had the actor do voice over work for his CGI? - Also, Bell becoming the season's big bad was unexpected, but expected at the same time. You know what I mean? He's always been shady. But then he proved to be an ally during that crossover episode when he helped the team get back to this universe. Plus, Mr. Nimoy seems to exude compassion so well. I'm slightly sad that "Bellie" is the bad guy. But then again, pitching him against Walter in an almost "Dr. Xavier vs Magneto"/frenemies-thing does have a great comic-book quality to the story-telling, doesn't it? - Wow, Olivia! She's getting so many powers all of a sudden! Becoming that powerful in such a short span of time doesn't seem healthy. Loved that Olivia was so kickass, but worried about her at the same time. - Ah! NO! Not Astrid! (Alex? Hahaha!) Hope she recovers soon. I'd miss her character not being there actively doing something in the finale next week. She finally got to hold a gun, be in the field, and she gets shot during that first outing? Sucks for Astrid. - Even Nina, Broyles, & David Robert Jones were there! - AND and energy beam (from the sun) obliterated a skyscraper, like a scene straight out the movies! One of my favorite aspects of Fringe is it's movie-quality filming and production. Top notch. I'm gonna miss this show when it ends next year.
I did not like DRJ dying how did either, but that's more because I would not like any manner of his death! XD
The Cotexiphan puppet thing was a callback 2x07 OF Human Action where the kid uses mind control to control his "kidnappers".Tyler was the son of a massive dynamic employee and they used a drug that amplified his brain waves. Maybe Cotexiphan though it was not directly stated.
If Tyler could control people against their will, it just made sense to me that Olivia could control Peter who would be okay with letting her in.
I've wondered if Peter is still in the machine off and on too, but I never thought of it as similar to A Christmas Carol. Me likey!
We see the alternate timeline as a sort of Ghost of Christmas Present. We see the future in 2036 which is very Ghost of Christmas yet to come. I don't see a Ghost of Christmas Past exactly.... but I do like the analogous aspect of seeing multiple variations of reality.
I'm not to sure if Olivia was afraid,to me she just seemed surprised when she was able to transfer Rebecca's temp to her.By the time DRJ came looking to take Peter down she was in control and kicking his ass!
I'm not sure if Bell will turn out to be the ultimate bad guy,he seems that way but its pretty obvious that what seems to be is not always the case, and in Fringe it usually isn't..
Sorry but holy shit!!! when Astrid got shot i went into shock, really! So many things happened last night one on top of the other. The nursery,Bell, the nanites,Olivia turning into superwomen,Astrid, etc, etc, etc, i kept gasping for air, poor Ken the first time i did it he thought i was having heart failure, literally! I'll tell you even if i was i wouldn't even think about the hospital till the show was over...
Now i'm not even sure about Olivia dying? Since she has cortexifan in her wouldn't or shouldn't she just regenerate that particular injuring? And i just lost my train of thought..gak! i really did too....ah man :(
Hey did Mr.Nimoy look ill to you,or intentionally bad? ....... Oh and what does your avatar say??
It was pretty wild last night, one thing after another and the hits kept coming! To me Bell looked just old, hate saying it but....
I completely forgot about the skyscraper, and yes it reminded me of Independence Day! They did a good job with the effects considering their budget.Ha! I had/have the same reaction that i guess everyone had when Astrid got shot, geez i didn't expect that at all,not Astrid.Lets hope she makes it somehow..I know she is alive in 2036 but with Fringe i learned everything is not always how things appear, and not what is always told to us..that sneaky Wyman & Pinkner,ha!
Because season 4 is an ethereal plane 'that represents' another time line...his time has been 'left' out there....In fact going back to the comic that also deals with a future...I think everyone will die and Peter will rematerialize around the, or wake up in the machine....
Great theory, but I think you may have missed one important fact. Since Bell was officially dead in 2005, he couldn't have met Olivia in WTC in 2008, so she didn't drink the tea with soul magnets. This means that ringing the bell will not transfer Bell's consciousness to Olivia and vice versa.
Definitely true.... They may find a workaround though... Bell could have had Meana or Jones slip Olivia the soul magnet at some time we have not seen or even during the Cotexiphan injections I guess...
I'm not sold on my own theory just yet, but I like how a lot of it fits together after seeing the promo. It may explain the need for Bell's hand too and that is still playing on my mind since we saw 2036....
Dammit, I actually called it that Astrid was going to get killed after watching the 3rd sneak peek of her being extra lovely to Walter. I even typed it in the comment box, but didn't submit it 'coz wasn't logged in and couldn't be bothered to type my details in. You'll just have to take my word for it, haha.
And then when she suddenly became a bad-ass (how out of the blue was that?) I knew she would get shot. Like they were giving her a bit of a chance to shine before killing her off.
Although havign said that, they didn't spend nearly enough time dwelling on the fact that she had been shot, and it I didn't feel the slightlest pang of sadness that I would have expected. Perhaps that means she'll pull through. Maybe they could rub some cortexifan lemon cake into her wound to make it heal.
Wow...that was awesome...where to start? Astrid got shot, William Bell is still alive, Jones disintegrated, Olivia wants a nursery and she'd probably kick everyone's butts in Kinect!
I cannot wait for the next episode. I have no idea where they're going to go with this. All signs point to something happening to Olivia but there's still no Etta which is pretty important if the future seen in 4.19 is going to come back into play. And Astrid better be ok - what would Walter do without her?
:) mwahaha! To be fair credit goes where it's due. I looked it up on TV.com He is standing by the ambulance's hood before Walter and Astrid can enter the crime scene. He is very small. I was about to design a "missing" poster and thought this was the first eps where he was absent. But since he was in the promo for part 2 I thought it wouldn't make any sense not having him in there.
Olivia can tell people are from another universe because they vibrate on a different frequency than those in the Prime. It would still classify as a telepathic sort of power. And I'm kinda baffled you'd not like her developing more abilities. The drug opened a gateway to parts of the human brain we haven't yet learned to access. No telling what human beings would be capable of if we used our whole brain.
Astried goes all Foxy Chocolate high kick and this has became my favorite Fringe scene. And then she gets shot. Please don't kill Astrid! I need to see her next season being awesome!
I hoe that some cortexiphan regeneration happens (it seemed kind forsadowy and out of the blue, now that I think about it. Cortexiphan does everything!)
Don't get me wrong...this timeline continues to have laws of physics that go against the laws presented in the season 1-3 timeline, so even though I think at some point Peter will return to then, it's hard to say if the writers are going to do it now, or towards the end of next season. So with that in mind they may still use "Letters of Transit" with the season 4 time line, although I actually would prefer it to be the future of the season 1-3 timeline. So yes, perhaps Astrid and Olivia could be saved...but they all could turn around and do something where 'the season 4 Olivia' comes back and Peter's Olivia fades and then she might not be able to use the abilities...The **nanobot** thing is a concern too!...you have a new kind of matter that goes inside and along side matter that can then control the other matter ( I could see the nano technology taking over the world like a virus)...just like a reality inside and along side a reality that might have some control on the outer reality (;
I think Leonard Nimoy is suppose to look different because he is playing a different version of his character...Another reason it would be neat if LOT would go along with seasons 1-3, would be because then it would be RED William Bell that is alive (hence the idea that season 4 Blue William was thought to of died in a car crash, because it is our understanding that the red William Bell had died in a car crash in the season 1-3 timeline)
Well, the fifth season without Anna Torv is impossible, so we have to bring Olivia back SOMEHOW, but Bell's hand can't be enough :) Cortexiphan, soul magnets, every ability in Fringe bases on human brain, so if they wanted to get Olivia from Bell's body, they would be forced to cut off his head... :D The hand might be useful, because they want to get access to a place secured by hand scanner.
Yes the nanites, wow that opens a whole new can of worms! I'm surprised they didn't introduce them before,i don't know how they plan on or even if they plan on using it with so few episodes left, but it did add another layer and nice twist to the storyline.
I think your right about L.Nimoy,of course they would have to make him look different. Funny,i just finished watching him and his wife in a segment on CBS Sunday Morning and he looks Great! Seeing him now and how he looked in the episode, they did a good job making him look that way!
I think you should do it anyway,to me the posters, pictures are a way of celebrating Fringe, our way of showing our love for the show. What better way, aside from watching it live and recording at the same time? Ha! Think about it,and thanks i would never have seen him! :)
You are right, I think I will and include in my review. Not to promote myself but the biggest reward besides getting to watch a new episode every week is writing about it. http://www.fringetelevision.com/search/label/Observiews This is what I do every week. I've done this for S4 for the site but have written like this for S3 already for my Fringies at work.
This is so cool Cortexifan! You only stated doing this last season? I'm sure their will be a lot of people who will start watching when the series ends,i hope you continue doing that for all the "newbies" who might not understand or pick up on all the little things that go on in every episode! I think their experience would be enhanced by you! Nice going! :)
thank you. I'm not sure if I can go back and write like this from the beginning. It was easier writing in retrospect. I did do a summer-rewatch of S1-3 in light of what we learned at the end of S3 and commenting on what we learned but that was hard. You can read my comments under the episodes here: http://www.fringetelevision.com/search/label/Summer%20Rewatch
I'm still having hard time viewing the emission of vibrating frequency is a telepathic or telekinesis related power, since in order to view anything that sensitive, you'll need a very well developed visual optics including the power to process the information, which would involved the brain, more particular, the Occipital lobe.
I understand that the cortexiphan drug has help develop dormant abilities by somehow acting on the brain, but I always thought of it as more orientated towards specific abilities like telekinesis/pathic or manipulations of matter or something like that, an example would be like the X-men characters.
From the start of the series, I went in with an open mind that this is science fiction series and they're just exploring the possibilities of things we don't understand fully. But as a scientist, currently in PhD program for neuroscience, I just can't see that we have the ability to voluntarily control or access our brain in those manner, if those manner exist, which I don't, lol, plus the misconception of we only use half or less part of our brain is incorrect, as we do use large percentage of our brain in many functions such as the everyday activities and more.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Wow.
ReplyDeleteI know i'm not supposed to say this but thanks for posting this! :)
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Evil Leonard Nimoy! I guess I forgot that the universe
ReplyDeletechanged when Peter linked the two parallel universes. Thus, how we witnessed Williams
death was different from what happen in the time-line of when two universes were
linked. I always like the character that Mr. Nimoy presents in any series with smart,
ingenious, and with somewhat deep and mysterious character core. I liked the
chess set he had in his possession and I especially like the remark of patience
and when to make the sacrifice, I don't know I guess I'm a sucker for Leonard
Nimoy, lol. When William said to sacrifice a Bishop, I thought he meant Walter,
but I guess not, but then again if you think about it, Walter is more contributable
than Peter and then it was David Robert Jones who was the Bishop, wow.
As for Walter, first thing, I have to agree with his
statement about the administrator, even though I haven't seen the previous one.
My Goodness, does Walter know about William too much or what, but nonetheless,
it was interesting.
For Olivia, I have no idea how the hell she was able to
control Peter movement maybe she was controlling the neural signals from the brain
to spinal cord, which are electric, so maybe that's how.
Overall, awesome episode, but then again which episode isn't
awesome or beyond when it comes Fringe and Will Astrid Survive?!?!
- I'm so glad they did not leave the pregnancy reveal as a cliffhanger! Letting Peter know now gives them time to resolve some of the issues that go along with their baby...
ReplyDelete- Well Charlotte, you may experience some headaches, lightheadedness and nosebleeds.....
My vote is "good" wish I could be saying awesome but it lacked a certain something I can't put my finger on.
ReplyDeleteOkay,....
ReplyDelete1)
is that the Alt-Bell? I'm going to have to assume so. Pretty sure
Nina even said it,2)
Holy F, Olivia's powers now include manipulation of cells and mind
control.3) I'm not shocked DRJ was just a pawn for Bell. Or, a
bishop, as they said.4) Did you SEE THE X ON THE NANITE BOTS???
That's X. That's Bell. BELL = THE X MAN WHO KILLS OLIVIA!5) You
killed Astrid, you BASTARDS!6) I think Olivia is already
preggers.This
creates a whole interesting dynamic for the finale. After this
episode, I don't even know what to expect.
AH? AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteAdded a poll to the post. Refresh and it should be there.
ReplyDeleteIt's so frustrating how AWESOME Fringe is! I'll never be able to enjoy another show again! ;)
ReplyDelete" Cortexiphan gives regenerative powers? So if Olivia is "shot dead" by
ReplyDeleteMan X/ William Bell will she heal and "come back to life"?"
That was my thought too. It seems like they went out of their way to point that out.
Brilliant episode. Was blindsided by Astrid getting shot.
ReplyDeleteGO OLIVIA. She kicked some major ass tonight. It's going to come down to Walter vs Bell and that's one fight that I wouldn't miss for anything.
"Olivia just Gameboyed Peter!"
ReplyDeletehaha! She for sure finished him.
Whats with the writers suddenly making all mythology characters evil? First the Observers and now Bell? Sigh. I really liked the Walter/Bell 'friendship' too.
ReplyDeleteEven megalomaniacs once had friends I'm sure...before they went all global dictator or global destroyer that is.
ReplyDeleteBut what will happen to Astrid?? D:
ReplyDeleteSeriously, WHERE IS THE EPIC BUTTON?
ReplyDeleteWent in without being spoiled and it was totally worth it.
I don't know how they top one episode with the next. Brilliant.
Can't wait till next week, only because I want to know what happens.
Astrid was alive in the future so I don't think they killed her there.
ReplyDeleteAstrid! Astrid! Wake up! Astrid? Noooooooo.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think they'd bring back Bell without Nimoy. When I saw his name in the credits, I totally geeked out.
ReplyDeleteWhen I SAW Nimoy, I had a full-on nerdgasm.
Awesome episode, man Astrid getting shot came out of left field,i was so surprised i forgot she survivors in 2036,thanks again Rick for reminding me..
ReplyDeleteAnd wow Olivia has some right hook, and there i was sitting there cheering her on! But can someone tell me what DRJ said as he lay there dying?
There is more i want to say but my brain is fried right now,so goodnight folks see ya in the a.m. :)
But that's just ONE future. Not THE future. I don't doubt she's not dead permanently, because this is Fringe :)
ReplyDeleteDoesn't change the shock factor of watching our beloved Alex kick the bucket!
He said "I was the "bishop".
ReplyDeleteHe had assumed Bell sent him to kill Peter since Bell said a "Bishop" had to be sacrificed. In the end it was not a reference to the name Bishop, but to a position of power since Jones was Bell's bishop.
This show is so good I can't stand it! It even had an easy bake oven!
ReplyDelete:O My brain is somewhere after 'that epic explosion'.
ReplyDeleteBellie is alive! Walter is captured and Olivia is getting stronger with her abilities.
ReplyDeleteBefore I begin, I highly recommend listening to this song as you read my review:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJhVM930YXY
I first heard this during a movie called The Mist, a movie based on a story by Stephen King (an author I will extensively reference throughout this article).
I guess that's all I can think of for tonight.
Too many WTF, WTH and HOLY CRAP moments in this episode. I can't imagine what the finally we'll be like!
ReplyDeleteI've been evoiding spoiler this week and it was worth it.
*drums please*
ReplyDelete*AWESOME*
I't's been added on my "One of the Best Fringe Epi"....
Breathtaken as usual..... and ALex.. sorry Astrid .... O_O !!!
♥
Hate to disagree with you, but this one had it all for me.
ReplyDeleteUhm... WHAT THE ****?
ReplyDeleteI am going to reach into my ****ing television and rip William Bell's ***damn face off, and feed it to that son of a bitch that shot my Asteroid. I'm not even fuckin' kidding.
Every 5 minutes there was something that made me go slack jawed in awe, but this... There will be hell to pay!!!!
Hmmmm... I had an odd series of thoughts and I think I solved one of the mysteries of the season and the finale!
ReplyDelete- Bell "inhabited" Olivia's body once before via the soul magnets.....- September has said he has "looked at" every possible future and "Olivia" has to die.- 2 week's ago we saw Walter steal Bell's hand from the Amber...- On the train Astrid says "William Bell?
XD
F*** DRJ, it's Astrid I'm worried about.
ReplyDeleteAstrid will be fine. XD
ReplyDeleteShe was alive in 2036 and in all likelihood she will be alive next week and next Season.
Oh God, seeing all that will wreck me. O_O
ReplyDeleteI hope your predictions may come to be... even by slightest. It would be awesome. I can already see the fitting of puzzle board. But you are also spot on in saying "THIS IS FRINGE (And weirdly I'm kind of feeling all Sparta somehow :P)".
ReplyDeleteI think September really thought original Olivia will be dying coz in that earlier timeline she died for/by the reasons of wrong intentions. This time also she may die for Bell's (wrong) intentions. Villains have phase-shifted, the situation is same... may be that's all September saw. (Purely my personal Opi!)
Hmmm wonder if that delicious bit of pigbrain lemoncake will come in use for astro
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say the Observers are evil, at least not collectively. September and August definitely aren't/weren't and July, March, and January seem to be following orders only. December is sketchy, but the ones who do not observe (but INVADE), those are truly evil.
ReplyDeleteNO ME IMPORTA. They shot her, so they are on my sh*tlist.
ReplyDeleteHA!
ReplyDeleteOkay then!
XD
NOOOOOOOO. Not Alex, I mean Astrid!!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh. I was so surprised. I even missed his name int he credits. I tend to avoid the bigger spoilers for this show so I was shocked. I thought Nimoy was done with on-screen acting. But then again, actors always say they are retiring. :P
ReplyDeleteListened to the song. And man, the ending of The Mist still haunts me years later. Few films are so brave, I think.
ReplyDeleteI think Walter's remark about the administrator was also an inside joke, cos the actress playing the administrator was Samantha Noble, John Noble's daughter hehe
ReplyDeleteI think Olivia used telekinesis to control Peter's movement, just like she was able to rid the security of their guns.
I really hope Astrid survives, though I doubt it. Can't handle yet another death so soon.
Oh, didn't know about the character, who played the administrator, was John Noble's daughter, cool. Well, I still agree with him, lol, and Olivia having more powers just doesn't sit right with me, i don't know why, I guess she has mind related powers, so telekinesis is fine, but just doesn't sit right with me that somehow she can tell if someone's from another universe by visual indication, which kind of doesn't have anything to do with mind ability than visual, I don't know :(
ReplyDeleteSomebody SHOT ASTRID! WHAT? Save her! Anyone! ASAP!
ReplyDeleteOlivia was AWESOME today: saving Charlotte, I mean, Rebecca, I mean, Jessica, you get the point! Also how cool was her&Peter's fight with Jones! Glad he's gone! But talk about UNITED couple here;)
Plus, I never liked Bell, always had a bad feeling about him, so I'm not surprised to see him evil. Just wish he wasn't. For Walter at least.
Walter's "peace out" was also an awesome moment :D.
ReplyDeleteI saw the Jones death coming. Because Bishop/bishop was a funny world play but it would have been too obvious to kill off one of the Bishops :D.
Point 4 of yours is interesting. I saw the X on the nanites but I guess I overlooked the connection.
I have thought Bell was Man X for a while now, but I am leaning away ever so slowly after seeing the prview... Maybe The gun going off was Bell shooting Olivia, but it was certainly edited to look like Walter had the gun....
ReplyDeleteHere's a cap of the nanobots for those that missed the "X"...
Yet another awesome episode….
ReplyDeleteI am guessing they will somehow save Esther since she is in “Letters of Transit” in Henrietta’s future.
Possibly through regenerative effects of cortexophan.
That also might just allow Olivia to be alive in future, despite her being killed in between now and Letters of Transit by the "Mr.X"
Also this is what…5th? 10th time Leonard Nimoy comes out of retirement to play character on Fringe?
wow I didn't know that! I was actually think that she was Jennifer Garner's twin sister :)
ReplyDeleteYou had to see my reaction to Bell's appearance. I hope nobody saw or heard me despite the fact that the window next to me was open XD
ReplyDeleteI think you know what you mean. This episode discussed too many subjects without focusing on one main purpose for this episode. It was like a bunch of awesomeness but not connected well to each other. That annoyed me a bit, but it isn't a reason IMO to vote "Good". It was totally super mind blowing.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Olivia will heal herself after she is "shot dead". After all, she did die in last year's finale. Maybe she can only heal herself but not come back to life.
ReplyDeleteOh fuck don't you dare kill Astrid I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU SHOW IF YOU DO
ReplyDeleteIf that was supposed to be an Evil Leonard Nimoy... where is his goatee? Was it on top of his head, serving as his Eric Roberts haircut?
ReplyDeleteAstrid obviously survives because she was in Letters Of Transit.
ReplyDeleteThere's always the chance that the writers are playing with us by putting x's everywhere.
ReplyDeleteTHE BISHOP REVIVAL - I am the Bishop.
ReplyDeleteSo instantly did David Robert Jones come believe that William Hell/Bell (unclear) had set him up to fail against Olivia via attacking Peter, but considering his German background, the way the spontaneous combustion at fist seemed similar to the non-aging possibly time traveling work of Hoffman in "The Bishop Revival", and the fact that they are named Robert makes me wonder if there are these indicate that Jones might of had more direct ties to Robert Bishop?
ReplyDeleteWe got a promo picture of someone holding up a vial labeled with a name for an episode somewhere in the teens I think (4.14-4.17) didn't we? IT could have been a screencapture I did for one of the promo videos too I guess... One of the quick flashes I capped.... grrrr.......
Was Jessica Holt the name on the vial? It just sounded so familiar to me and made me think of that blood sample or vial that was labeled in the promo photo..... Annoys me I cannot find it now!
Oh ya I don't remember but it could be....It was in a Very Short Story about Love! ---
ReplyDeleteAstrid survives. She's obviously fine in 2015-2016 (whenever) when she and the others go into amber. She had no sign of a gunshot in 2036.
ReplyDeleteAnd how can you say that about DRJ? He was probably the best villain on this show, and he got one of the stupidest deaths I've ever seen on television; which is saying something, considering how the Man in Black died on Lost.
Ah thank you.
ReplyDeleteNope, it was Jane Hall.... J-H initials played with my mind I guess.
IT almost seemed like that Jones has cloned himself made a Mini-Me in one of the episodes last month. Younger, blonde courier guy with glasses who looked like he was part of Sprockets from SNL! XD
ReplyDeleteYeah that's right, that's what also reminded me of Alias, Arvin's Clone, and The Muller Devise, along with Fringe's "Better human being"....
ReplyDeleteThe way Jessica went about not understanding Walter and visa verse is very similar to Miranda in "The Tempest" (Brave New World novel gets it's name from her character in the play) --in which a character laughs at something most wouldn't, either because she doesn't know it's not something to laugh at, or because she knows something everyone else doesn't. Perhaps Jessica Holt is another one of these -genetically modified children shape shifters...of course she could be an animal one too (but I didn't see any cuneiform tattoos.)
WHATS THIS MEAN?
ReplyDeleteIt seems that way and mostly likely will be, but they could do something else. They could kill Olivia too and have Peter "zap" back to the end of season 3...then 2036 would be destined for the season 1-3 timeline and Peter's experience would save Asrtid and Olivia from being killed more immediately...
ReplyDeleteAre you referring to the episode?
ReplyDeleteNo the end of the show...whats that mean with the kid pointing up in the air... ;P
ReplyDeleteI'm reading your comment..can't get over last nights episode!
Darth i gotta hand it to you,you turn my world upside down! :P My brain hurts at times because of you..its a good thing,i like having to think but WOW what tongue are you speaking in this morning... :D
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, for me, as fun as the episodes are, I find each one frustrating nowadays. The re-set after Peter disappeared has been explained poorly, and it's leading me to being frustrated every single week.
ReplyDeleteBell died in a car crash... to me he didn't.
The glyph is POWERS. That doesn't tell us much.
ReplyDeleteMajor X-Men nods to Professor Xavier (Walter), Magneto (Bell), and Jean Grey (Olivia). Am I complaining? Absolutely not!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with everything you said and in the way you feel! I couldn't freakin believe they shot Astrid it literally took my breath away, and it shocked me. I thought they were dealing with a virus and it turned out being nanites,i shouldn't have been surprised by that but i was..
ReplyDeleteBell coming back,Olivia with her powers, with child.lord one thing on top of another,i kept saying wow, wow, wow WOW!!!!!
To think this was only part one,i can't wait to see what they have in store for us in the season finale! Gee, that's the last time we can say season finale.....
I had the same reaction! I heard the sound then realized i was the one making it,and it was loud enough for my neighbors to hear!
ReplyDeleteAnybody seen the Observer?
ReplyDeleteLOL.
ReplyDeleteWe all need to see a psychologist urgently :)
I don't think we're going back to the 2026 timeline. That has already been erased. Though I would like to know what happened in Detroit in the 2026 timeline, I think we are going to Observerville 2036.
ReplyDeleteThinking about it some more, I know where I went wrong in my interpretation.
Did you like the video I put in my review?
LOL!! :D
ReplyDeleteI think were alright for now but i think we ill need one next season as the countdown begins..:P
After going through Eyes Without A face lyrics, I am pretty sure now that at some point we will be going back to season our previous time line...
ReplyDeleteEyes Without A Face Song Lyrics:I'm all out of hopeOne more bad dream could bring a fallWhen I'm far from homeDon't call me on the phoneTo tell me you're aloneIt's easy to deceiveIt's easy to teaseBut hard to get releaseLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceGot no human grace your eyes without a face.I spend so much time
Believing all the lies
To keep the dream alive
Now it makes me sad
It makes me mad at truth
For loving what was youLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceLes yeux sans visage eyes without a faceGot no human grace your eyes without a face.
"I'm thinking of you, but you're OUT THERE." -May imply that the time line is still out there, because is in the machine having an experience....'So say your prayers" -Chi Rho appears on the church when Jessica and Olivia walk by...
but maybe the point is you can't erase a time line...only see another one and get insight to save your own...
ReplyDeleteQuite sad that Astrid got shot, but also annoyed that, that scene didn't really last long, she got shot, Walter got a little upset, Bell spreads his evilness and that was it.
ReplyDeleteFound the Olivia controlling Peter bit kinda funny, but awesome!
Hence "Part 1"... Resolution doesn't come at the end of the beginning. :P
ReplyDeleteUghhhh
ReplyDeleteThat was my gut reaction to her being shot. And with how many things they change on this show, you can't just assume she's going to live at this point. I personally believe that these events WILL line up to 4x19, and she will survive, but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to be upset about it.
And I can say that about DRJ because he had an awesome death in 1x20 :P
No, but really I didn't like how he just...died in this episode, but there was so much going on (including realizing that DRJ isn't the big kahuna and it's actually Mr. Bell) that I was a bit overwhelmed and have yet to actually articulate my feelings on everything.
^-^ wait till you read the next one...
ReplyDeleteIts was awesome, what's next. PEACE OUT!
ReplyDeleteI just expected more cohesion to the overall story and at least some resolution even thought it was a 1st-parter. plus I hate the fact that the Reverse is hanging in limbo. I still need to rewatch it to get what I may be missing, but it wasn't awesome to me. Good to great but not awesome.
ReplyDeletePic of the Chi Rho in the episode (look behind-to the left of Jessica Holt)
ReplyDeleteI should have seen that coming when Walter called her Alex!
ReplyDeleteOn a second viewing of the episode, I caught something Walter said about his experiment with the lemon cake. Cortexiphan, as he said, helps cell regeneration, as was evidenced by the reforming of the cake. So, now that Astrid is wounded, who says a little Cortexiphan wouldn't heal the wound?
ReplyDeleteThat's why I think this reality isn't corporeal...I think he is still in the machine and I am starting to think Letters of Transit is the "future" of the season1-3 time line, and not season 4's...
ReplyDeletePinkner/Wyman had explained that Peter's machine, the way it works is like "The Christmas "Carol...Scrooge via 'ghosts' "envisioned" various time periods (parts of various time lines) so that he could "change" and have a better future.
I dont think so. That is the exact same X design that was on the guys shirt.
ReplyDeleteI doubt that it was that hard to get him back, I saw a video last year of him talking about doing the voice work for 319 and he said he would love to come back, even if it wasn't voice work.
ReplyDeleteThis episode was packed full of awesome! So many cool and exciting things packed into this episode! Had a few thoughts though.
ReplyDelete- I was so giddy and surprised that they got Leonard Nimoy to do this!
XD
ReplyDeleteThe Cotexiphan puppet thing was a callback 2x07 OF Human Action where the kid uses mind control to control his "kidnappers".Tyler was the son of a massive dynamic employee and they used a drug that amplified his brain waves. Maybe Cotexiphan though it was not directly stated.
If Tyler could control people against their will, it just made sense to me that Olivia could control Peter who would be okay with letting her in.
Ha!!! You did it again :) Okay wait, if Peter is still in the machine how do we have a season 1 thru 3 timeline without Peter?
ReplyDeleteI've wondered if Peter is still in the machine off and on too, but I never thought of it as similar to A Christmas Carol. Me likey!
ReplyDeleteWe see the alternate timeline as a sort of Ghost of Christmas Present.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if Bell will turn out to be the ultimate bad guy,he seems that way but its pretty obvious that what seems to be is not always the case, and in Fringe it usually isn't..
ReplyDeleteI completely forgot about the skyscraper, and yes it reminded me of Independence Day!
Nice catch! :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe referring to Olivia's powers?
ReplyDeleteWe did in "the Day We Died" it's a pre-season 1 timelines future...
ReplyDeleteBecause season 4 is an ethereal plane 'that represents' another time line...his time has been 'left' out there....In fact going back to the comic that also deals with a future...I think everyone will die and Peter will rematerialize around the, or wake up in the machine....
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteReally!.....Again? I finally reconciled this was t h e timeline.. Ha,as i bang my head against the wall..
Product placement much?
ReplyDeleteGreat theory, but I think you may have missed one important fact. Since Bell was officially dead in 2005, he couldn't have met Olivia in WTC in 2008, so she didn't drink the tea with soul magnets. This means that ringing the bell will not transfer Bell's consciousness to Olivia and vice versa.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely true....
ReplyDeleteThey may find a workaround though...
No need to bang my head, just finished reading from Adam,Daruqe and you, this makes sense and as Daruqe said "me likey" too!! :)
ReplyDeleteDammit, I actually called it that Astrid was going to get killed after watching the 3rd sneak peek of her being extra lovely to Walter. I even typed it in the comment box, but didn't submit it 'coz wasn't logged in and couldn't be bothered to type my details in. You'll just have to take my word for it, haha.
ReplyDeleteAnd then when she suddenly became a bad-ass (how out of the blue was that?) I knew she would get shot.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for the next episode. I have no idea where they're going to go with this. All signs point to something happening to Olivia but there's still no Etta which is pretty important if the future seen in 4.19 is going to come back into play. And Astrid better be ok - what would Walter do without her?
There's no way that's a CGI Nimoy.
ReplyDeletefound him
ReplyDeleteOkay Cortexifan cough it up,where did you fined him?
ReplyDelete:) mwahaha!
ReplyDeleteTo be fair credit goes where it's due. I looked it up on TV.com
He is standing by the ambulance's hood before Walter and Astrid can enter the crime scene.
ReplyDeleteAstried goes all Foxy Chocolate high kick and this has became my favorite Fringe scene. And then she gets shot. Please don't kill Astrid! I need to see her next season being awesome!
ReplyDeleteI hoe that some cortexiphan regeneration happens (it seemed kind forsadowy and out of the blue, now that I think about it. Cortexiphan does everything!)
my question is
ReplyDeletehow they gonna jump from now to year 2015/2016 to see the Ambar-scene???
Don't get me wrong...this timeline continues to have laws of physics that go against the laws presented in the season 1-3 timeline, so even though I think at some point Peter will return to then, it's hard to say if the writers are going to do it now, or towards the end of next season. So with that in mind they may still use "Letters of Transit" with the season 4 time line, although I actually would prefer it to be the future of the season 1-3 timeline. So yes, perhaps Astrid and Olivia could be saved...but they all could turn around and do something where 'the season 4 Olivia' comes back and Peter's Olivia fades and then she might not be able to use the abilities...The **nanobot** thing is a concern too!...you have a new kind of matter that goes inside and along side matter that can then control the other matter ( I could see the nano technology taking over the world like a virus)...just like a reality inside and along side a reality that might have some control on the outer reality (;
ReplyDeleteI think Leonard Nimoy is suppose to look different because he is playing a different version of his character...Another reason it would be neat if LOT would go along with seasons 1-3, would be because then it would be RED William Bell that is alive (hence the idea that season 4 Blue William was thought to of died in a car crash, because it is our understanding that the red William Bell had died in a car crash in the season 1-3 timeline)
My avatar is a pick of "The Queen of Hearts" from Once Upon A Time. It Reads, "Queen of Hearts" on the top and "Heart of Darkness" on the bottom!
ReplyDeleteWow, that was pretty loaded with story. It's great that they kept Leonard Nimoy's fullfledged reappearance under wraps like that!
ReplyDeleteOne nitpick: it's completely ridiculous that DRJ didn't just have a gun with him to kill Peter. I mean come on.
ReplyDeleteThe hand might be useful, because they want to get access to a place secured by hand scanner.
Yes the nanites, wow that opens a whole new can of worms! I'm surprised they didn't introduce them before,i don't know how they plan on or even if they plan on using it with so few episodes left, but it did add another layer and nice twist to the storyline.
ReplyDeleteI think your right about L.Nimoy,of course they would have to make him look different. Funny,i just finished watching him and his wife in a segment on CBS Sunday Morning and he looks Great! Seeing him now and how he looked in the episode, they did a good job making him look that way!
Oooh i love it!..To bad you couldn't keep it this size, looks more dramatic this way! Even just the saying would be great!
ReplyDeleteI think you should do it anyway,to me the posters, pictures are a way of celebrating Fringe, our way of showing our love for the show. What better way, aside from watching it live and recording at the same time? Ha! Think about it,and thanks i would never have seen him! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are right, I think I will and include in my review. Not to promote myself but the biggest reward besides getting to watch a new episode every week is writing about it.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.fringetelevision.com/search/label/Observiews
This is what I do every week.
Nice going! :)
ReplyDeletethank you. I'm not sure if I can go back and write like this from the beginning. It was easier writing in retrospect. I did do a summer-rewatch of S1-3 in light of what we learned at the end of S3 and commenting on what we learned but that was hard.
ReplyDeleteYou can read my comments under the episodes here: http://www.fringetelevision.com/search/label/Summer%20Rewatch
Shall do,thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm still having hard time viewing the emission of vibrating frequency is a telepathic or telekinesis related power, since in order to view anything that sensitive, you'll need a very well developed visual optics including the power to process the information, which would involved the brain, more particular, the Occipital lobe.
ReplyDeleteI understand that the cortexiphan drug has help develop dormant abilities by somehow acting on the brain, but I always thought of it as more orientated towards specific abilities like telekinesis/pathic or manipulations of matter or something like that, an example would be like the X-men characters.
I would tend to agree.
ReplyDeleteHa! Success! I will be watching this ep on the 11th back to back with part one. I'm proud of myself..I'm never able to do this.
ReplyDeleteI did peek at the poll results. Glad everyone liked it.
DRJ was just a pawn in W Bell's chess board!!!! A bit disappointed in that....But otherwise another stellar episode.
ReplyDeleteWow! Astrid's got game! Oh no! Astrid got shot!
ReplyDeleteBelly's back!
Olivia...that is slightly different and...more than just a little scary new power... Starting part 2 now!
