The Avengers ruined my b-day present... :( Fringe was my early b-day present... I was hoping for good ratings to bask in today, as it is my b-day today...
I'm surprised the ratings didn't drop off more. Say what you will about The Hunger Games, but I'd figure that The Avengers would be a MUCH higher draw for the Fringe fans.
Glad the Avengers did not seem to hit the demos hard. If SPN doesn't adjust then it's number 2 at CW again this week. Hard to imagine more consistent demos than Supernatural this year.
I don't currrr how bad or good Fringe does! I'm VERY happy we got a confirmed fifth season so I'm good and no more high blood-pressure for low ratings!!! ♥
That's exactly what I've been thinking. Fox having second thoughts about renewing Fringe would be a very bad thing. Ratings need to go up and stay that way.
Something I was also wondering with Chuck (but luckily never got to find out) is if Fringe's first few episodes of Season 5 do really bad (like under 2 million bad) could they just axe it and chuck something else on? Hopefully it doesn't come to that but just a thought...
I thought the Avengers would affect the ratings, glad they didn't(although,I wouldn't really hold it against them). The 8th season(and maybe beyond) is very well deserved!
The Avengers have nothing on the Winchesters! :) It would be really wonderful if SPN were adjusted up to 0.8 on Monday.
I have nothing against Fringe and it's been renewed anyway, but for SPN fans it would be nice if it equalled a Fox show on Monday, that is of course if Fringe is adjusted down to 0.8 ( something I doubt very much though. )
Agreed on the Avengers since comic book movies have started to leave me cold after the glut of them in previous summers.
As for Fringe, I would never hope for a 0.8 and would not expect one this season either. Instead I would turn my attention toward NBC because unless SPN gets adjusted down, it will have the same demo this week as Awake. Of course beating everything on the CW except Vampire Diaries is the only ratings win that matters.
Possible - yes. Probable - no. Most likely FOX will promote this as being Fringe's last season with a full episode countdown to the end. Not likely they would chuck that ad campaign when they have presumably already gotten Fringe for a steal. Plus, there's always a chance that Fringe's ratings might rise slightly due to previous fans coming back to see how they are going to end it.
Of course the important ratings as you say, are those within the CW where SPN is in a good position behind the V Diaries, but to see it going up against another network is very satisfying.
As for the Avenger type movies, the studios have ruined any good stories that could have been told because of the excessive use of special effects, thus leaving the story-lines so poorly elaborated.
Some of the offerings have been pathetic, Green Lantern just to mention one!
Why didn't Fringe increase during the 9:30 half-hour? I would have assumed that the webmaster for the International Leonard Nimoy Fan Club would have sent out an emergency alert: "Turn on Fox NOW - Nimoy is making a surprise appearance on Fringe" LOL
Sadly, it's true. There are only like 50,000 actual Nielsen watchers in like 20,000 households. So it doesn't matter what you watch if you don't have one of those little boxes. So one of those Nielsen boxes supposedly represent millions of actual viewers which is absurd. But it's the only game in town, so it's what we have.
I heard somewhere that, starting next season, Nielsen is partnerting with some online metrics people, and are going to start including advertised digital views into ratings figures.
If that's true it would be a step in the right direction. The Nielsen system may have been OK back when there were three networks and fewer TVs, but with all the cable stations, millions of households with multiple televisions, the system is so far out of date it doesn't even come close to representing the actual viewing public. Just look at services like Netflix where shows like SPN with lower ratings are among the higher viewed. That's got to mean something is not being added up right. So yeah, I hope you're correct. Any statistical data they can incorporate into actual ratings would get them closer to what is really being watched.
I went to the avengers early like at 4:45 and all I could do is look at the time and say I got to get home buy 8 to see my show that god the movie ended by 7:30.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Normally I'd be upset fringe isn't doing well, but it doesn't matter anymore, Fringe is getting one more season!
ReplyDeleteBlame The Avengers :)
ReplyDeleteJust because we got another season of Fringe it doesn't mean they don't need us anymore! Audience=budget=production=quality! WATCH LIVE!
ReplyDeleteGUH. If we didn't have those 13 episodes sold I'd be unbelievably upset.
ReplyDeletewho cares Fringe, SPN and Grimm all renewed!
ReplyDeleteAnd additionally it is a way of honouring the show and the whole crew. :) You are right, Fringe still needs us - more than ever!
ReplyDeleteyeah!! the ratings still matter! Fox needs to know they did the right thing by listening to us :)
ReplyDeleteIt still matters. Fox reserves the right to re-neg.

ReplyDeleteDEMO ARTINGS
ReplyDeleteNIKITA-0.4
SPN-0.7
GRIMM-1.3
FRINGE-0.9
FINDER-1.0
With some of these ratings how is it possible that Ringer wouldnt b renewed.
DeleteHappy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised the ratings didn't drop off more. Say what you will about The Hunger Games, but I'd figure that The Avengers would be a MUCH higher draw for the Fringe fans.
ReplyDeleteLots of people saw it at the midnight showing, like a hell of a lot
ReplyDeleteHow could Nikita fall so low? I read somewhere that they use Nielson ratings, so it doesnt matter if the majority of people watch.. Is that true?
ReplyDeletePS. I love fringe.
ReplyDeleteGlad the Avengers did not seem to hit the demos hard. If SPN doesn't adjust then it's number 2 at CW again this week. Hard to imagine more consistent demos than Supernatural this year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for including the half hours and the CW women 18-34 numbers. It is always interesting to see. Any way we could have these every day?
ReplyDeleteI don't currrr how bad or good Fringe does! I'm VERY happy we got a confirmed fifth season so I'm good and no more high blood-pressure for low ratings!!!

ReplyDeleteSeems like that. That's what I've been told. Don't have a Nielsen box, it doesn't matter.

ReplyDeletemaybe because Nielsen box???

ReplyDeleteReally? It still matters to a lot of people. No one wants to see a show pulling in such low ratings regardless if it was picked up or not.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Why did the Avengers ruin your B.day? As for ratings, well seems as its par for the course with Fringe. :(
ReplyDeleteBecause my boyfriend was supposed to watch it with me, but he ditched me for the movie... That's why it ruined my b-day...
ReplyDeleteMaybe you have have recorded it and seen the movie with him? Sorry that it ruined your Birthday. :(
ReplyDeleteI stayed home because I'm not into Superhero movies... *No offense to everyone here that does*
ReplyDeleteI went to the avengers early like at 4:45 and all I could do is look at the time and say I got to get home buy 8 to see my show that god the movie ended by 7:30.
