Looking forward to Arrow and Cult.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy SPN is moving to Wednesdays! I love this schedule, tbh. We get the show earlier in the week!
ReplyDeleteHell, I still remember when it aired on Tuesday with Gilmore Girls. I'm excited!
This time of Nikita is good or not? I was hoping that the show could move out from friday...
ReplyDeleteANTM as a lead-in for Nikita on Fridays? What the hell?
ReplyDeleteBasically the same one USA Today posted, but with Arrow and Supernatural swapped.
ReplyDeleteAlso, a little disappointed that Cult is not in the schedule.
ReplyDeleteGonna have to wait til midseason.
9 pm is a better timeslot
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for Cult!!! Rockne is back! Let's hope Ben Browder and Claudia Black will be back too!
ReplyDeleteImportant point tho instead of starting early september CW fall will start in October
ReplyDeleteyep they decided to feed supernatural to Modern Family/Idol/X Factor, Law and Order/Criminal Minds
ReplyDeletewhich is a very good idea for CW, this should mean there will be less breaks in the schedule. Plus both Grimm and Once had late starts and did well.
ReplyDeleteMe and tvmonkey called it
ReplyDeleteBut ANTP before Nikita seems to be not a very smart idea of CW
ReplyDeleteI love it that SPN gets the Arrow lead in. The Winchesters deserve it!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather it go up against shows like these that tend to attract a different audience than going up against Fringe and Grimm - and be also competing with Friday nights out with friends. I'm watching Modern Family now in that slot, but I could take it or leave it. I'm much more faithful to SPN and my genre shows.
ReplyDeleteIt might not be so bad. I would think Nikita would have a broader based appeal than their comic/fantasy genre shows, so there might be more crossover with these shows than you think. This pairing might be good for Nikita and introduce new people to the show.
ReplyDeleteDid they change the title of First Cut? I am not sure how I feel about the new title.
ReplyDeleteSo Cult has no set timeslot yet for mid-season? I guess that just means it will replace which ever new show fails first?
ReplyDeleteI hope so! Nikita deserves, it's a great show and needs to be introduced to more people!
ReplyDeleteThat's a big vote of confidence for SPN right there. Gotta love Pedowitz !
ReplyDeleteYeah and it allows for the shows to premiere in a relatively less stressful week due to the fact that all the other networks would have premiered most of their schedule in September
ReplyDeleteGood job he arrived before Dawn destroyed it completely!
ReplyDeleteOops!: Missed the note concerning that. Sorry!
ReplyDeleteWell Supernatural got shafted... it's low figures were decent for a CW Friday alongside the struggling Fringe/Grimm etc etc, but being against Modern Family, Criminal Minds, The X Factor & American Idol is surely gonna kill it.
ReplyDeleteThe CW are wiser to try something new out here... maybe they have some faith that Supernatural can hold what it got on Fridays here... I don't see it myself
Guess we shall find out.
yep either that or some kind of time share like LUX had with GG/90210 in its first season or inbetween top model cycles on friday or top model could be only one cycle on friday
ReplyDeleteFinally something to watch on Wednesday nights, and my Friday DVR just got a breather. Wahoo!
ReplyDeleteWell we all know how low the CW regards Nikita since they threw It under the bus.America's next top model as lead In?terrable. That won't run all season so Inless Cult at midseason airs on firdays there Is
ReplyDeletepossiblty of reruns being leadIn to Nikita.
What this says Is the studio forced the CW to renew Nikita.
Exactly. At least the show is against shows with a different genre.
ReplyDeleteWith Arrow up against female
ReplyDeleteskewing The Middle Suburgatory X-Factor and older skewing Survivor
I think it could do really well!
I am no fan of Supernatural but outside friday It's ratings In both total and Demo are likely to go up.
ReplyDeleteAt least they're in different genres.
ReplyDeleteThey renewed Nikita with incredibly poor ratings. I don't think that's throwing it under the bus. I hope that moving it later will help with the ratings. At least it breaks the Fringe/Grimm/Supernatural clash. Since I watch Supernatural Fridays at 9:00, I'll just watch Nikita instead.
ReplyDeleteYEAH FOR SUPERNATURAL :D
ReplyDeleteWell the thing with SPN fans is that they have repeatedly proven they'll follow it wherever whenever, so even against all those shows chances are the show will still hold up to its regular ratings.
ReplyDeleteIt mostly means they don't really care about their Fridays anymore, which they shouldn't. This way the rest of the week looks much stronger.
ReplyDeleteAnd Nikita is practically guaranteed to have a season 4, if you're a fan it's got to be good news.
Many more "critically acclaimed " shows have been cancelled in the past years but it's indubitable that Supernatural is going into its eighth season.
ReplyDeleteI don't see Alcatraz, Tera Nova, Pan-Am and many other shows coming back for next year, so I wouldn't be too hasty in forecasting the death of SPN, even on a Wednesday night.
SPN is the only show on the CW that survived the Thursday 9pm timeslot. It'll survive this.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the ratings for the premiere. Hope it goes beyond 1.0
You do know that Supernatural gets a 0.4 in DVR ratings. So some of those people may decide to watch live now that it isn't on Friday.
ReplyDeleteThen there is also the fact that Supernatural held its own on Thursday at 9 for 4 and 1/2 seasons
Trust me if people are watching Friday at 9pm, they'll be watching Wednesday at 9pm.
Not bad! Not bad at all!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll even say that pairing Nikita with ANTM isn't a bad idea...
The show has enough eye candy to hold in the audience from ANTM ;D
Heck I liked SPN coming on first, but does not matter I will watch no matter when it is on. Only 2 shows that I watch the same night they come on, SPN and TVD and even they get DVRd.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe so many people don't have a DVR, then it does not matter what it is up against. I had 10 shows recording on Thursday and 7 on Friday, don't know how I watched TV without a DVR or two. lol Best thing since sliced bread and will forever change the way TV is watched.
ReplyDeleteMy DVR can only record/show two shows at once. :-(
ReplyDeleteI doubt it'll hit a 1.0 if it hits a 0.8 same as this season I think the CW would take that.
ReplyDeleteI hope so but I doubt it unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural goes to Wednesdays????? Wow!!!!
ReplyDeleteI prefered First Cut
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they would, but if it premieres the right night, and Arrows numbers don't suck as much as Nikita's... there's room for a little hope :)
ReplyDeleteSPN on Wednesday! Really hope it's not gonna get worse! Good luck, guys!
ReplyDeleteyay!
ReplyDeleteModern Family (and the rest) is huge no chance of it being cancelled so I implore SPN fans to watch the Winchesters live and their other Wednesday 9pm shows (which are all relatively safe bets) on DVR.
I don't have DVR. I have an old DVD player sitting under my TV that I've never figured out how to set up, but I for the most part, my issue is more that I don't really care enough about most shows to put the effort into recording them. There's usually only one or two shows a season that I would bother record even if I did have everything set up. With most, if I miss it while it's on, I've forgotten about it by the next day. I might go back later and watch the missed episodes online as a marathon, but I more likely will not.
ReplyDeleteBut I think what we're talking about here is the live ratings numbers, because as far as I know, DVR numbers still don't really count as much. And yes, people without Nielsen boxes don't technically count either, although I have to believe that the Nielsen numbers are at least somewhat accurate in that they're supposed to be a random sampling of households. Statistics prove that a random sampling with a large enough sample is pretty accurate if it's conducted correctly.
Your kinda deluding yourself.Any show declines In ratings on friday nights.ANTM was already declining on Wedsday. What's even worse Is ANTM doesn't air all season long.Inless Cult premieres on friday reruns of other shows could end up as leadin to Nikita at some point. And Nikita's audence Isn't primarly women. There are lots of guys In Nikita's audence. It and ANTM are one of worst fits ever.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind there is 0.4 that DVR it because it is on Friday, if SPN maintains that 0.7, picks up 0.2 of the people that DVR it because it was on Friday and maybe pick up 0.2 or 0.3 from the people that might just leave it on the CW after Arrow and also some people that just tune in randomly
ReplyDeleteIt is very possible it could be back over 1.0 next season.
It would not suprise me if Cult was held as a replacemnt show if something else tanks, I dont necessarily think it's Friday 8pm post ANTM fall cycle. The CW woill most likely air repeats of their new shows in the 8pm slot when ANTM is off air which would about the same or even better than Nikita was doing in that time slot this season. If they can get 0.4's from repeats ar 8 they should be quite content.
ReplyDeleteYou make a good arguement. I love your enthusiam and faith. I hope SPN can improve on its current ratings.
ReplyDeleteWhat audience? ANTM has been doing badly and now it's got dumped on Fridays after they mistakenly gave it an early renewal.
ReplyDeleteDawn was clueless. She move her highest rated show Smallville to Friday instead of using as a lead in on another night for a new show, she then made the same stupid mistake by moving her 2nd highest rated show Supernatural to Friday instead of using it to anchor another night. She made an absolute prat of herself by having Smallville and SPN rate 2nd and 3rd highest last year on a Friday. Again this season SPN on a Friday at 9pm was the 2nd highest rated show on the net. MP at least has his eyes open, moves SPN to anchor another night with a potential hit and keeps the lowest rated shows on Friday.
ReplyDeleteFirst Cut was better than Emily Owens MD IMO & I like the Wed. time slot for Arrow..
ReplyDeleteWed. at 9pm is fine by me. :)
ReplyDeleteA timetable for release in the series these days?:) Autumn, but when for example The Vampire Diaries?
ReplyDeleteClearly she had a completely different idea for the network and those two shows just didn't fit her vision, good ratings or not, so she sent them off to rot on a Friday night, but SPN like Sam and Dean just wouldn't die! :)
ReplyDeleteMore seriously however, it's just as clear that MP has a vision of his own which is diametrically opposite to Dawn's, and I think he has done a good job with what he has found himself with.
I think he has matched up all the shows quite intelligently.
Of course it will all have to be tested in October, but looking at the new shows that some of the other networks have okayed, especially the CBS, maybe a little good luck will come the CW's way!
No actual dates have been released yet. As soon as we know the dates we will post them
ReplyDeleteI had 2 dual tuner DVRs and of course all the shows don't come on at the same time, but I just got a Hopper from Dish Network and it records 6 shows, so I got rid of both my DVRs.
ReplyDeleteMy reason for recording is watching when I want to watch and forget the commercials. So an hour show I can watch in less than 45 minutes. The only ones I save for later are SPN and TVD. I keep the current eps until the DVD comes out and watch many times over the season.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct without a Nielsen box it does not matter when you watch or how.
It was doing great in the fall this season, maybe it'll go back up. Anyhow I think it'll do better than Nikita next season and better than Nikita was doing at 8 this season.
ReplyDeletehonestly CW have a good chance of producing a couple of hits this coming season, none of the other networks have anything really ground breaking. Mist of the new dramas are going in at 10pm. NBC especially could be there for the taking for a couple of those new CW shows.
ReplyDeleteIf watching SPN LIVE would do any good I would do it, but since the only way that counts is if you have one of the "golden" Neilsen boxes, it just does not help.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural should just be moved back to Thursdays & let it air after The Vampire Diaries. Arrow & Beauty & The Beast could air on Wednesdays.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
ReplyDeleteI think it could get a couple of hits.
Is even Beauty and the Beast, which seems to have had the most criticism, really all that different from Elementary or Castle or even Bones.
It's really just much the same idea, and could turn out to be better than expected.
I always hold up OUAT as an example.
When the plot was first introduced it seemed so cheesy, and look how great it's been doing!
I hope Nikita does better in the Friday slot.. Fringe is only 13 eps for its final season so it has a chance. I think ANTM should of been cancelled and they could of put TSC in that 8:00 slot. Emily Owens MD sounds awful to me.. at least when it was called "First cut" my attention was grabbed because that's a cool name. Well I will be looking forward to "Arrow"
ReplyDeleteI agree with your post and I'll be watching Nikita at 9 pm, too.
ReplyDeleteFunny, everthing changed somehow save VD
ReplyDeleteThis is a really good schedule. And surprisingly this year, The CW has all of the best pilots. I'm interested in ALL of them except for Emily Owen
ReplyDeleteand when Cult stars ?
ReplyDelete:( dislike...I'm happy for SPN moving out of friday...but at the same time I'm really sad cause I'll be at school....I only come back thursday or friday at home................R.I.P. SPN live for me
ReplyDeleteCult was always going to start "mid-season" and The CW hasn't published the actual schedule yet, with start dates. The only thing we know (unless the the schedule has been supplied by now) is "early October".
ReplyDeleteOn Thursdays SPN went against Greys Anatomy,Office, AI and CSI and there prime.
ReplyDeleteWednesday not a easy bet either, but I think Thursday's was worst.
I think if the 8 year show can pull consistent 8 demo on CW it will be ok,because you know in the spring the Cw will lose a good 20% of it's audience again.
unless you are a Nielsen viewer you don't matter anyway.
ReplyDeletetoo bad
ReplyDelete.......Where did I say *exactly* that its what I'm talking about? 0-o
ReplyDeleteI can't be sad at all that I won't be able to watch before my tv every week and have fun?
Thanks for the empathie
I can't believe they canceled TSC, just can't. I'm veeeery disappointed on the CW.
ReplyDeleteI love this move for Supernatural! I had hoped they would move it to Wed and pair it with Arrow, but I didn't really believe they would. Kudos to Mark P. for actually playing to the networks strengths! Supernatural has held its own against Grey's Anatomy and CSI when they were both #1 & 2 on TV. It held its own on Fridays against two other networks genre shows and I have no doubt it will hold its own on Wed. against competition of a different kind. At least there will be buzz about Arrow and a good lead-in could lead to new viewers -- or returns of old ones since Jeremy Carver will get the show back on track. Couldn't have asked for better news!!!
ReplyDeletethis new schedule of SPN is bothering me , Friday is my weekend and I enjoy it with SPN , but obviously not any more :(
ReplyDeleteHopefully alot of people will feel the same as you guys! I live in Australia so I cant do anything about ratings but this show is by far my favourite! Heres hoping ANTM will bring in more people with the eye candy :)
ReplyDeleteSPN on Wednesdays?! Well, at least ill finally have a good show to watch on Wednesday but Friday will suck for me. Only shows I watch on the CW is The Vampire Diaries and Supernatural
ReplyDeleteNeither Fringe nor Grimm effected Supernatural's ratings this year and that was a much tighter fit. If the move to Friday didn't kill them, then none of these shows will either.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to hate the longer summer hellatus but it will be well worth it when we don't have so many reruns in the middle of the season. I hope they make the winter hiatus a bit longer too. Originally I loved how short it was this year but we paid the price later.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised the new title tested better than the old one. Most comments I've heard prefer First Cut.
ReplyDeleteI don't see Supernatural rivaling Vampire Diaries next year. I hope it stays at a 0.8 / 0.7. That's decent numbers for the CW, allowing SPN to go on to season 9 or 10. Mostly I hope that it pairs well with Arrow and that Arrow is a hit. Without a hit this year, the future looks grim for the CW.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Nikita fan and I can't believe they renewed it. I think we should be happy its going to be on at all.
ReplyDeleteI think eventually that slot will have another reality show, especially if the summer reality shows do decent enough.
ReplyDeleteMidseason - which is code for whenever one of their new shows tanks badly.
ReplyDeleteThe CW needs at least 2 hits this season, one of which needs to have bigger numbers than VD. They have to convince the affiliates to renew their contract with the CW for 2016. Their best chance of getting these hits are to anchor the two most likely new shows with the best shows they currently have. That would be VD and SPN. To put VD and SPN together would get Pedowitz fired.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Besides, he's paired shows that may actually feed off of each other rather than against each other. GG & 90210 are veterans with core fans that both appeal to the same young female demo. Tuesdays are medical dramas, HoD and Emily Owens. Wednesdays are a perfect Sci-Fi genre pairing with Arrow and Supernatural. Thursdays have the fantasy/romance thing going with VD and B&tB, and Friday will be Female Empowerment night with ANTM and Nikita. Each night has two shows that should appeal to the same demographic and hopefully keep viewers from changing the channel, thus stabilizing the network. They've counter-programmed the competition on most nights and now they need to focus on really promoting the new shows along with the veterans and somehow find the way out of the niche/hole Dawn O. trapped them in. I think they've made a really good plan and it gives the network the best possible shot at gaining ground they've lost in the last few years.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dahne :)
ReplyDeleteYay for Supernatural!!!!! So I'll be watching both shows on Tuesday and Wednesday =]
ReplyDeletefinally supernatural off fridays and partnered with arrow, very good idea reminds me of the days partnered with smallville
ReplyDeleteare you kidding me????? nikita still on friday along with ANTM???? that's just crazy, gonna kill the show :((((
ReplyDeleteI'm so thrilled for Supernatural... I hope they'll profit from the change!
ReplyDeletethey should just cancel gossip girl and 90210 and nikita is wasting space just glad gg is getting a proper ending rather than just cancelled
ReplyDeleteWhere on the schedule does Cult go at midseason? Friday?
ReplyDeletei love supernatural on friday nights good way to stared the week end off.
ReplyDelete
