UPDATE: according to Showcase total viewers on Sunday night was actually 1.7 million
Continuum premiered to huge numbers on Canadian cable network Showcase with 1,165,000 viewers, 900,000 viewers at 9 PM and another 265,000 watched it at 11 PM. More than double the 500,000 Showcase premiere record held by Lost Girl.
According to Bill Brioux airing on cable at 9 PM it doubled the combined ratings of all shows airing at 9 PM on Canadian broadcast. Seems like the Canadian equivalent to The Walking Dead in the US, ratings wise.
Shaw Media has their upfront presentation on Wednesday, will they renew it before then?

Good news!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how it would fare... I just watched the official pilot. The VFX definitely add to the episode for me. I still think it was just shy of being "Awesome", but pilots are often bogged down in exposition and character defining that they suffer compared to future episodes.
It has a lot of potential so I hope many of those record breaking viewers keep watching.
I wouldn't mind if some started a kill off Victor Webster as the male lead petition either....
Just saying. XD
Just realized shaw media have their upfronts tomorrow wonder if they is time for a quick renewal
ReplyDeleteInteresting...
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if the record breaking numbers might lead to a quick renewal before knowing the upfronts were tomorrow. That would be a good time to announce it I guess although it may be better to wait and see the numbers for Episode 2 first.... I doubt the next episode will be a bomb, but you never know.
*sorry upfronts are on Wednesday
ReplyDeleteThat's good. Now lets see if it can hold those numbers.
ReplyDeleteExcellent news, the pilot is awesome.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear, I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteAmazing Canadian cable has such modest requirements :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the pilot, it was run of the mill, cliche, predictable, with yet another misandrist female lead.
Wow, impressive. Thanks for posting the numbers
ReplyDeleteLol, you and your Victor hate campaign. :P Let's talk about this Victor-hate, when did it all start, are you projecting? Let it aaaaaall out... ;)
ReplyDeleteWell it started on Mutant X although honestly I forget exactly what made me hate him. Then it continued on Charmed and ended on Harper's Island where I quit watching because of him (in part). XD
ReplyDeleteTruth be told my "hate" extends no further than never liking a performance of his and him annoying me so much I cannot watch a show he's in anymore. I don't think of him or dislike him as long as he's not on something I watch! XD
There are a few actors and actresses like that for me and some of them are quite talented honestly. Yet I just cannot watch anything they are in.Julianna Margulies is another. Fine actress, but I cannot stand to see her on my TV. No clue why! XD
Lol, oh god, he is a plague upon your TV shows! I am surprised you don't stalk his 'future projects' online and on imdb to see what else he is going to ruin for you, ha! I know what you mean though, i have a few actresses that really annoy me for no apparent reason, and a real issue with families too - can't watch Eureka for that reason, father/daughter thing in pilot put me right off.
ReplyDeleteMy sympathies on your Victor Plight. :D Now get off my couch and out of my office, that'll be £40. :P
Show was really great. Look forward to more.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the much smaller population size in comparison to the US, not so surprising! If you equate number of viewers to total population numbers then this show's Canadian viewership approaches the size of the American viewership of NCIS which is consistantly one of the, if not the number one watched show in the US!
