Hey, it's better than nothing! And as far as I know, they didn't say it was a FINAL season... though honestly, I may have preferred a full final fourth season than this.
I'm very happy that it's coming back, but it's bittersweet of course with the shortened sked. the short sked isn't a bad thing for some shows as it would allow for better focus in the writing and less "filler eps", but this chow as well as Parks have always had eps that were great to awesome (for me) so less of that goodness isnt welcoming. But like some have said, at least it's coming back, and (at least for now) no mention of the "final season" tag.....
Unlike with 30 Rock, NBC didn't announce it was the final season, so I'm going to hold out hope! Maybe we'll get the back nine, like they did with Chuck.
But, no seriously, I need to know about Parks and The Office now. I can't take it anymore.
I'm so glad my favorite comedy series will return next season, obviously, but I just can't be fully happy. I was expecting a full 22-episode season (or 24, or even 25 episodes like season 1 so that after four seasons Community would have 96 episodes, a neat number, but I'd settle for 22).
I had no doubt the show would get renewed, that 13-episode order comes as a bit of a disappointment. It just doesn't make any sense that NBC wouldn't want to make more money by reaching the syndication level (88 episodes), because by ordering only 13 episodes for next season, that makes only 84 episodes of Community, not 88 ! I don't get it. Comedy Central is waving its finger right now. HOWEVER, let's remind ourselves of the fourth season of Chuck : NBC ordered only 13 episodes at first, but then in November 2010 they ordered 11 extra episodes, making a total of 24 episodes for season 4 ! I hope they will do the same with Community. They're not saying it's the final season or that there's no possibility for a back 9 (back 12 would be better, imo). If all the new comedies fail miserably (I think most of them will), NBC is going to need comedies for the second part of the 2012/2013 season and so could order more Greendale.Truthfully, I'd prefer a full 24-episode fourth season that's also the final season of Community rather than 13-episode fourth and fifth seasons. But this is good news nonetheless. Let's rejoice by listening to what could be the Community anthem : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXvuUp-KY5gHey, my Evil Abed avatar can go now that the show is renewed. Let's give it up for Maw Maw (played by Cloris Leachman on Raising Hope, another astonishingly creative, weird, smart and funny comedy) !
Well with the fourth season being abbreviated, Season 4 could be their first semester of senior year with Season 5 being their second semester of senior year.
This is true. I suppose I'm just worried NBC will give up on it after next season, and we'll have been shorted a great final year. But that's a worry for next year! For now I'm just excited they'll be back on my TV next season :)
I am very happy even though more episodes would have been way better. I was really afraid that we could lose Community again with everything happening backstage nowadays.
You make a good point about 30 Rock... so there is hope that it might not be the last season for Community...and you are right again to point out the back 9 possibility based on the Chuck precedent.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Many people will be happy about this. Any word on whether or not this is the final season or not?
ReplyDeleteOh God. Why. Just Why?
ReplyDeleteSo glad we get something. Better than nothing. YAY!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletemeh, better than nothing - would have loved a full season.
ReplyDeleteI guess I can't be too upset about not getting a full season since it's at least coming back.
ReplyDeleteI would have been okay even with a 15-18 episode order, instead of a full season. But I'll take 13 over nothing.
ReplyDelete9 episodes to little, but still: Pop, pop!

ReplyDeleteI'm hoping it'll end up like Chuck season 3 and get extended to 19. Please!!!
ReplyDeleteugh short order=/ but at least it got renewed!
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! I'm dancing with joy at the moment :D It does suck that it will be 13 episodes but I'll take it over nothing!
ReplyDeleteBetter get an extension! Seriously NBC stop fucking with us
ReplyDeleteGlad its renewed, but sucks its only for 13 episodes.
ReplyDeleteGood news, and 13 are still a hole lot better than nothing. :)
ReplyDelete...I need help reacting to something.
ReplyDeleteYes!
ReplyDeleteword is a syndication deal has already been reached despite not having the 88 episodes required.
ReplyDeleteI am very happy even though more episodes would have been way better. I was really afraid that we could lose Community again with everything happening backstage nowadays.
ReplyDeleteI am most definately celebrating this renewal!

ReplyDeleteSmells very much like the back nine is dependant on how the new comedies do...
