It actually looks better than what I was expecting. Of course nothing better than general CW fare but still, it was ok-looking. Sort've got the TVD vibe from it.
I can't believe those guys shot that gun like 10 times O_O unless it was just some echo effect.
About what I expected... not as bad as many people have said it will be, but not exactly good either. It cannot be worse than Secret Circle though and that ended up a bubble cancellation! XD
While I think the promo was mostly bad, I think it did tell a lot about the series honestly.
Mom and daughter on the side of the road stranded. The mom gets murdered (if not assassinated) and the daughter only manages to escape due to someone/something that was lurking in the shadows watching.
That is the basic premise of Beauty and the Beast really.
- This seems to be the standard "flashback to what made me become a cop" scene. - I'm going to have a hard time accepting Kristin Kreuk as a "no-nonsense homicide detective" as she's described in the synopsis. - Vincent is now just an army vet with a scar.
What worries me most about the show is this:
(from the CW official description) "Vincent has been in hiding for the past 10 years to guard his secret -- when he is enraged, he becomes a terrifying beast, unable to control his super-strength and heightened senses."
So... a more accurate title for this show is "Beauty and the Hulk."
Right. I did not see Beastly or whatever that movie was called last year, but I think it was a similar transforming beast too.
I guess I can see why CW did it honestly,, it saves on make up costs and production time if the "beast" looks fairly normal most of the time. Plus being a teen-centric network they have a hot guy for girls tolook at and not some grotesque.
I don't think it plays as well honestly.... it waters down the concept. I get why they did it though.
Oh, I definitely see why The CW did it. Just like all the changes for CBS' Elementary, they did it because it's what works for their particular network.
I look forward to seeing what The CW comes up with in the way of a full trailer for "Nancy Drew and the Hulk."
The original series was on when I was a kid, so if nothing else nostalgia will probably make me watch the first few episodes, after that we'll have to see.
always kinda liked Kristin, but not really feeling it from this promo... it's a bit like the batman origin story meets a hulk like character.... we'll see
looks just awful. From what I understand of the premise the beast is actually normal by day and turns into the beast when agitated. Umm OK all that's missing is for him to say something like "please don't make me angry. you wouldn't like me when I'm angry" and you got the story of the Hulk. Will Lana err Beauty at least know the secret or will it be another 5 plus years of "I can't be with you because you keep secrets and I don't like secrets" crap again?
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Well, that was exciting.
ReplyDeletethis new beast seems more handsome that the original & that detail make the difference
ReplyDeleteLooks really good. I wasn't sure about it when I first heard about it, but now it looks very promising. :D
ReplyDeleteIt's up on YouTube (from the CW channel) and not region restricted.

This is probably the worst promo ever.
ReplyDeleteIt shows absolutely nothing about the show or whatever.
This looks just ridiculous.
gonna give it a chance
ReplyDeleteI was not very impressed....
ReplyDelete(though maybe seeing Kristin Kreuk trying to emote might have something to do with it...)
deadline says full trailers will come in next few days atm its just clips for the 3 fall shows! DONT JUDGE!(yet)

this sucks.....bring back the secret circle.PLEASE!
ReplyDeleteAbout what I expected... not as bad as many people have said it will be, but not exactly good either.

Uhhh interesting! Because of Kristin it's already on my to watch list. Loved her in Smallville!

Not a trailer. It's a sneak peek from the pilot just like the other clips.
ReplyDeleteTeen Wolf reloaded...
ReplyDeleteWe can't really discern much from this.

Aha, well if that's the whole premise I think the show should (and will) be over in one, maybe one and a half episodes?
ReplyDeleteTerrable promo.
ReplyDeleteRight. I did not see Beastly or whatever that movie was called last year, but I think it was a similar transforming beast too.

It's not really much of a promo, but still...maybe gonna give it a shot!

LOL the bit when her mum is shot her reaction is so cheesy. This show looks as bad as I imagined it would be
ReplyDeleteWow. Extremely different than what I was expecting. I can see where the procedural aspect will come from, probably from her searching for the Beast.
ReplyDeleteThe original series was on when I was a kid, so if nothing else nostalgia will probably make me watch the first few episodes, after that we'll have to see.
ReplyDeleteNo. I pass
ReplyDeletealways kinda liked Kristin, but not really feeling it from this promo... it's a bit like the batman origin story meets a hulk like character.... we'll see
ReplyDeleteNot a show for me.
ReplyDeleteOh, god not LANA again! I can never escape Smallville, can I?
ReplyDeleteHa! "Beauty and the Hulk"! Actually I would like to see that, as a parody. :-)
ReplyDeleteWell... I'm afraid this is really bad as I imagined. But I'm going to wait for a real trailer before I decide, with little hope.

ReplyDeleteSooooo excited for that!!!
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for the promo...
ReplyDeleteThis sneak peek isn't really grabbing me.
ReplyDeleteHmm little interesting. Was thinking of an actual beast throughout the whole show, but depending on an actual trailer if I will watch.
ReplyDeleteOnly watching this for Kristin Kreuk
