I will miss 30 Rock, but the show had a good run, I'm not disappointed it is ending.
I know it's just me being a freak but I would have preferred 15 episodes, this way the number of episodes of season 7 would have matched season 2's (cut because of the Writers Strike) and 30 Rock would have ended with 140 episodes, not 138. Oh, well, 13 episodes is alright I guess.
I've always enjoyed it, sometimes more (seasons 1, 2 & 5) than others (seasons 3, 4 & 6), but I've never been a huge fan. It's like Scrubs in that way, and there are other similarities such as the pace/style of humor and the 'meta' bits included in many episodes of both shows, but neither Scrubs nor 30 Rock ever delved into full-blown meta for a full episode like Community often does (one of the reasons why I'm a Community fan). I hope Maulik Pancholy will be able to return to 30 Rock for this final season (in other words : I hope Shitney gets cancelled). He's not actually been replaced (as Jack said to Liz about the guy in the hallway, "he's just an extra" ^^).
I would really love if they brougth in M. Night Shiamalan (or however his name is spelled) as a reference to Jack hiring Jonathan thinking he was M. Night.
I'm sad as I've enjoyed this as part of the NBC comedy lineup, but I agree that the show hasn't been consistently funny for a few seasons now and it's good that they have a clear direction to tie things up and hopefully bring back a few folks for at least a bit, like Jack's enamored assistant and Josh(?) the writer/performer from the first few seasons
I'm glad it'll be the final season. I really have enjoyed the show and I still love it (maybe not as much as back in season 1-3) but it needs to finish before it becomes too stale.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
For the best the quality has been dipping since S5
ReplyDeleteI was not surprised when I heard the news that it would be getting a shortened season order, the ratings this season were appalling.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that they start the season knowing exactly when to wrap things up.

ReplyDeleteI keep coming to this website fearing that I'll see "Nikita - Canceled". You guys are killing me.
ReplyDeleteHow about a final 8 episodes and use the rest of the budget to film "Who Dat Ninja?"

ReplyDeleteThat would be superb!
ReplyDeleteIf "Firefly" had "Serenity", "30 Rock" could have "Who Dat Ninja?" :)
