Thanks to Simon for the heads up.

Wow what a day!

Tonight the Stargate Convention in Vancouver, is buzzing with excitement about an earlier announcement made by independent producer, Darren Thomas. Fans were treated to previously unreleased news about MGM's collaboration on a new SG-1 App designed for smart phones and tablets. The scoop from Thomas is that MGM is reviving SG-1 albeit in a new format- music to the ears of many f...ans around the world. Thomas didn't want to divulge more, but he did say that "plans are underway and I wish I could tell you more. The good news is that we will be unveiling something big at this year's Comic-Con in San Diego". But in the meantime stay tuned for more information right here on the SG-1 official MGM page.

  2. Considering they fired everyone involved and destroyed all the sets.... betting on a reboot :)

  3. Who did they fire on sg-1?

  4. I would love another sg-1,i wish they would bring back Farscape!

Wait is it only for an app?

  5. As long as Peter DeLuise, Robert C. Cooper, Brad Wright and
Joseph Mallozzi aren't involved I'll be happy to check out any new
    projects.

  6. I'm hoping it's not purely because of the actors I grew up watching, but if it means more SG1 I would definitely watch.

  7. Considering all the people you mention had a lot to do with it what is it that you did like?

  8. All actors, writers, etc of the entire stargate franchise have been fired...mostly over twitter(yes thats very unprofessional) . The sets have been purposefuly destroyed too.

  9. Richard most likely was dissatisfied with the newer and more fresh direction Stargate Universe took.

Frankly, I found SGU a breath of fresh air and its one of those shows, alongside Caprica, that should have never been canceled.

  10. I liked SGU very much,it was a little slow at times but the pay off would of been great..It was getting there when they pulled the plug..Too bad.I wasn't that crazy about Caprica,it was ok,maybe there wasn't enough time for me to get into it?I loved the first few episodes, but her mother drove me up a wall, not her fault it was the part..

  12. SYFY has a nasty trackrecord with stargate franchise.

SG1 cancellation news were delivered RIGHT during the celebration of finishing filming 200th episode of the show (literally during the party)

SGU actors found out about cancellation and them being fired FROM THE NEWS and twitter(no one even bothered to notice them that they have been fired).

All the writers were asked to clear out their offices and leave and all the sets were burned down and destroyed the same day

  13. Right,i forgot about the party and that was when they were told, that really sucked big time! I didn't know that was how SGU found out,i don't understand why they (whoever they were) found it necessary to burn everything down, and in same day. That was pretty spiteful of them..

  14. I love the smell of vitriol in the morning.

    Wait, no; I don't.

  16. My sister is up at the convention this weekend. She's been incommunicado since she would be roaming, but you can bet that she's having a lot of fun.

  17. SGU annoyed the hell out of me. The major draw of the Stargate franchise was traveling to new worlds and meeting other cultures, as well as the danger they usually brought.

All of this also took place during a larger conflict, for SG1 it was the Goa'uld then the Ori, for SGA it was the Wraith and the Hybrids. Both shows had an overarching plot with a lot of smaller stories in between to flesh out the characters. And the best part is how these two shows merged together on occasion.

On SGU, it took SO LONG for an actual enemy to appear, and even then it was kept incredibly vague. Half the characters on the show were SO incredibly unlikable. I wanted to punch most of them.

Also, they kept dealing with the same personal issues each and every episode and gave them a laser-like focus that made it feel like nothing ever evolved. Throughout the short length of the show, maybe only one or two of the characters had any personal growth at all. The others just kept getting worse.

I spent the majority of the show wondering when it would feel like Stargate. They tried to go in a different direction with it, I understand that, but in the effort to do so they also lost a lot of what made the franchise so popular in the first place.

Because of that, SGU lost my interest pretty quickly, but I kept watching it expecting something exciting to happen eventually. Nothing ever did. I wanted a Science Fiction tv series and instead got a space opera.

wheres your source for the firing and burning down sets and stuff? I dont neccesarily believe all of it unless u have an actual source and if u do please show it.

im in the middle of u guys I didnt love it and hate it i thought it was ok. I liked the story and concept and some of the mini arcs but I really didnt like the characters very much. They were just to winy, depressing, and a lot of the time stupid. If they had written the characters to be more likeable like atlantis and sg-1 then it would've been perfect.

  21. http://www.gateworld.net/news/2010/12/universe-actors-learned-of-cancellation-via-twitter/

The set bits came from Malozzi's own blog I think, when he said that no movie is happening since the sets are getting deconstructed and they have been asked to clear the offices.

  22.  SGU was the only one of the series worth watching. It defies logic that SG-1 got 10 years (or whatever) and SGU was ditched after 2 years.

  23. I bet that David Hewlett(aka Rodney McKay) is upset about the all the sets being destroyed. After all he purchased most of then at the AUCTION they held to get rid of them.

  24. Damn I was wanting a new show or movie but nothing to do with SGU!! That show sucked big balls!
