NBC's musical drama series SMASH has tapped Gossip Girl showrunner and executive producer Josh Safran as the new showrunner for its second season. To read more about the story click here.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. On the one hand SMASH needs a new direction, some of the storylines I don't care for and likewise most of the characters. But on the other hand, with all the drama that's going on with the Gossip Girl storyline, I'm not too keen with Josh Safran as the new showrunner....
I agree, Liz. After seeing what Josh Safran has done with Gossip Girl for the past two seasons as Gossip Girl's showrunner, I've come to believe that he'd be a terrible showrunner for any show. Every time I read comments that he's made about the storylines on Gossip Girl, I become more and more convinced that he has an extremely warped mind and that he should be in therapy.
Yeah, I have no idea what NBC was thinking when they picked Josh Safran to be the new showrunner for Smash. They must want to destroy this show before it even gets the chance to be truly successful. I wasn't all that impressed by the pilot, but I've been thinking about giving Smash another chance. This news has solidified my decision to not give the show another chance.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteWell I don't see how this could be a good news.
ReplyDeletePast 3 years. He sounds completely delusional, like he's in his own twisted world and he acts as if he's some misunderstood genius or something.
ReplyDeleteWell, if the mediocre ratings/demos don't kill this show, Safran certainly will.
That's because it's not.

ReplyDeletePossibly good news for Gossip Girl, definitelly bad news for Smash...
ReplyDeleteRight. CW renew Gossip Girl for season 6 and get rid of Safran so we can get our proper ending!
