-Rating Results:
CBS took center stage in the Sunday overnights, beating second-place NBC by 40 percent. In the distant No. 3 spot was ABC, which did not benefit from the conclusion of Titanic, followed by Fox.

In series-premiere news, CBS crime solver NYC 22 led the 10 p.m. hour with a 6.0 rating/10 share in the overnights (versus a 5.2/ 9 for The Apprentice on NBC and a 3.5/ 6 for ABC’s fading GCB). But Celebrity Apprentice is the show to beat among adults 18-49, and NYC 22 dropped by 17 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of older skewing lead-in The Good Wife (7.2/11). One year earlier, CSI: Miami was almost identical with a 6.1/10, and by that time the David Caruso crime solver was already fading. Consider this a disappointing start for NYC 22.

At 7 p.m., Eye net granddaddy 60 Minutes won hour with a 7.8/14, followed by The Amazing Race at a 6.0/10, which tied older-skewing Harry’s Law on NBC for first from 8-9 p.m. Aforementioned The Good Wife won the 9 p.m. hour in the overnights with a 7.2/11, but is unlikely to top Celebrity Apprentice among adults 18-49.

Dateline opened the evening on a typically soft note for NBC with a third-place 3.6/ 7 in the overnights. But aforementioned Harry’s Law rose to a 6.0/10 at 8 p.m. (#1), followed by Celebrity Apprentice at a 5.0/ 8 from 9-11 p.m. – the best metered market performance since the night of its season premiere. Here is the half-hour breakdown:

Celebrity Apprentice (NBC)
9:00 p.m.: 4.7/ 7 (#2)
9:30 p.m.: 4.7/ 7 (#2)
10:00 p.m.: 5.0/ 8 (#2)
10:30 p.m.: 5.4/ 9 (#2)

While the audience skew for Harry’s Law is certainly older, based on total audience size it is worthy of a third season.

Over at ABC, veteran America’s Funniest Home Videos finished second in the 7 p.m. hour with a 3.8/ 7, leading into an encore telecast of sure-to-be renewed Once Upon a Time at a 2.8/ 5 (#3) at 8 p.m. The conclusion of miniseries Titanic finished third from 9-10 p.m. at a weak 3.1/ 5, followed by GCB at a last-place 3.5/ 6 at 10 p.m. Prospects for a second season of GCB continue to grow slimmer.

Over at Fox, the network filled the 7 p.m. hour with repeats of The Simpsons (#4: 1.6/ 3) and The Cleveland Show (#4: 1.5/ 3). Next was the regularly scheduled edition of The Simpsons (#3: 3.1/ 5 at 8 p.m.), followed by Bob’s Burgers (#4: 2.2/ 4), a repeat of Family Guy (#4: 2.7/ 4) and an original episode of The Cleveland Show (#4: 2.5/ 4). While you cannot, and should not, judge Fox by the overnights, the animated Sunday line-up could use a boost next season (and it won’t be from the benched remake of The Flintstones, unfortunately).

  2. I really like this show too and honestly I have no clue where it stands in terms of renewl/cancellation. It is firmly a bubble show leaning towards cancellation but who knows.

  5. As predicted, NYC 22 is essentially DOA. (Especially for CBS) GCB isn't renewal worthy either. Looks like Sunday's next season will look pretty different.

  6. Everything on NBC should not get another season except for The Voice. NBC's ratings are tragic.

    There, I fixed it.
