  1. The Dan&Blair loft scene was perfection, the VDW drama was a bore (and Ivy by far the only highlight) and Nate banging Chucks mom is just gross. Just as gross as the fact that Chuck set up Blair to sleep with his father, actually. Completely new way of interpreting 'Daddy Issues'
all in all the episode wasnt really worth it.

  2. Dair makes me sick.

  3. Eww, Idk what's with the writers' fascination with friends having sex with their friends' family members.

  4. Gossip Girl is just "shock for shock value" at this point. In season one, we were dumbfounded when it was revealed that Serena had "killed" someone (and THAT was when she was still likable). Georgina was actually scary and we HATED her. What do we have now? Cheap "shocks" like Serena and Eric sharing not one but TWO half-siblings and Jack Bass being Chuck's father (which raises SO MANY questions) and God knows (or even cares at this point) who his mother really is. Serena is a completely unlikable, self-interest bitch and Georgina is a caricature and serves as a comic relief. Don't get me wrong, I still watch the show and still love it as a guilty pleasure, but storylines as of late feel like a cop-out and are clearly showing the show's age and lack of creativity. I don't know that I'm exactly saying the show is bad, because we all know that this is the type of stuff Gossip Girl would be doing anyway, but it just feels stale and unoriginal at this point I suppose.

  5. But with that said, I really did enjoy the episode. Happy that Lily and Rufus' marriage took a realistic turn toward divorce and seeing Lily's downward spiral into a real villain. I was happy that we got to see Ivy again (Although, WHY would she want to be a part of Lily's family at this point? She's better off going to Brooklyn to the Humphrey loft and hoping that Rufus is looking for a surrogate daughter now that Jenny is away.) I'm officially over Chuck's storyline at this point. The whole drama makes his character seem so pathetic, like an abandoned, abused puppy. But I guess that's what they're going for? What happened to the Chuck that went around date raping girls and being a borderline alcoholic? Oh, right. I guess he changed. But seriously, I don't give a shit who his parents are anymore, and neither should should he.

  6. To be fair, Chuck didn't know he was whoring Blair out to his father at the time... though I'm definitely not excusing him from giving her to his uncle, either. As much as I love him, it was despicable either way.

  7.  Why? Not to that I'm a Dair shipper (I'm not ANY shipper tbh), but I thought that they were somewhat of a bright spot in this episode.

  8. Aaaaand Nate reveals another friend's secret... to be fair, he didn't out William as Lola's father on purpose, but still.. that boy seriously doesn't have the best track record lately. Meanwhile, Lily continues to be the front-runner in the race for the most horrible wife/mother/general human being. And what's with this new twist on Chuck's parentage? Haven't we played that out by now? Ugh. How many more times are they going to change their mind on that one?

  9. Don't tell anything to Nate, they should've learned that by now.

I'm sick of the never ending family drama that should've already been dealt with a couple of seasons ago.

  10. The writers keep changing their minds on Chuck's parents, it's just so annoying.  Just pick 1 and be done with it.

  11.  I mean honestly, Taylor Momsen and Connor Paolo left the show at the right time.

  12. I don't know if I can explain it properly. I liked their friendship in season 4... It seemed almost brother/sisterly to me, and so seeing them as a couple actually makes me a little sick to my stomach. They have no chemistry whatsoever. And, semi-related, Blair's character has been totally ruined, so I don't really like seeing her with anyone to be honest.

  13.  You explained properly, and I completely understand and actually agree. I think that might be where the storyline is headed for going into the season finale tbh, Blair being single and figuring herself out that is. But we'll see...

  14. Really!! Blair was complete annoying, lame, pointless.... she was no vintage blair, this "scheme" was just iaghhhw!  scheme blair was smart, this blair was just nonsense, I feel sorry for her speech. And lola finding just casual the letter from G, the writters think we are kind stupid. Its no more about 1 ship or another now its about good stories... I used to like GG now its crap nonsense character, I think I just start looking for a new show to see, any recomendation??

  15. Lily's nastiness seemed out of character...... I can understand her hating Ivy, but having her sister arrested in front of Lola and telling Rufus that no one else will take care of him, were pretty low. I wish they wouldn't make her into a villain. I wasn't a fan of Rufus in this episode either, but it would be sad if they didn't patch things up; for the longest time, they've been the only well-adjusted parental figures in this show.
I felt sorry for Serena and Lola, but they're both turning out to be a lot more similar than they realize, and not in a good way. Missing the old Serena.I'm not sure I can endure any more Diana/Nate hookups.I've lost interest in Chuck's genealogy.Ivy, please go away. Dair was the best thing about this episode, in spite of Blair's public meltdown. I loved how Dan remained calm and non-judgmental; he was more concerned about Blair than the fact that she ruined his evening. These kids might just make it.

  16. In the beginning of their relationship, I had to admit that they did have some chemistry. (I am a CHAIR fan at heart) But now that they are a couple it is like agghh!! Boring.

  17. Was this ep all about making me lust after the boys and find the girls sympathetic even amidst their horrible behavior? It was, I'm certain, but all I really want to talk about is how Nate may be a secret-dispensing plot device of a motherfucking (heh) bad friend, but that boy is pretty and he can take off his shirt and stay for awhile.

I'm just going to stay here in the shallow end and avoid confronting Lil's downward morality spiral and the typical Rufusening that made me pity the hell out of that sad, sad man who clings to his flimsy righteousness because it's all he friggin' has. Or applauding Blair's continued efforts to relocate the parts of herself this season stole. Or attempting to reconcile my desire to hug Serena for her heartbreaking and relatable Dad stuff and my urge to snap at her for alienating the new sister who got a pretty raw deal of her own in all this (surely, the utter grossness of their respective moms would be fodder enough to bond for years to come!).

... Where was I? Oh, yeah. The shallow end. Dan, or more specifically his hair, has grown on me from an aesthetic perspective. We've all been wondering when he'd cut it, but it's been behaving itself so well recently, I feel as though we must all move on and accept that it will be with us for awhile, and that's okay.

(Though, he certainly has a face that suits shorter cuts, and looked his best last year, and I will hold out hope that he'll arrive at that conclusion on his own at some point. Like... Shane West! Slightly off topic, but Nikita viewers will understand that this is a dude who has always rocked short hair and has been varying degrees of attractive at different points in his career. Haven't lusted after him much in his Nikita tenure, and then he came on this season with some ill-conceived 90s long hair that wasn't really working for him. So, he cuts it off - a similar style to the one he wore previously - and suddenly I'm finding him sexy where I never did before. Even with the same haircut. I attribute this to the contrast and the confidence. Like, he's not the teen heartthrob he was in that sap, A Walk to Remember, but look at this grown-ass man who knows what works for him and has some age on his face and is just through with bullshit experimental phases. I'll bloody take it!)

In conclusion, this episode for me was best viewed through a lens shallowly. You can't throw Nate around in silly wacky hijinks sans clothing and expect serious analysis to get done, good sirs and madams - it's just not done!

  18. God, i love Blair- but, the writers are killing the character she used to be!! And i totally predicted that Jack would be Chuck's father!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. well they've succesfully ruined the character of Lily,
and the whole Jack/Chuck/Diana thing is too soap opera for my taste
this show is deffinitly getting worse

  20. My hartred for Lily and Serena growa day by day (more like episode by episode). They've truly reached "horrible" and I don't think they'll ever really manage to brush that off.
Ivy, Lola, Rufus et all are better off without them. Honestly! (that Eric is related to those two still baffles me. And I still can't believe that I actually used to really like both of them...).
Speaking of Lola and how awful Serena has been to her, at least now she can make nice with Nate and get him away from Diana, as she has proof about what she was saying last week.

The ring around the rosey over Chuck's family tree is getting exhausting.

Dan and Blair again shine bright. Love love loved them....

  21. Although the drama around Chuck's parents is a bit much, makes me wonder if Jack being his father was planned from the start.. Elisabeth said to Chuck in season 3 that she betrayed him because she was in love with Jack. Maybe she was already in love with him all those years ago, had an affair with Jack when married to Bart and when Bart found out he sent her away. And raised Chuck as his own with all the resentment that we know of, knowing it was his brother's son.. That would explain why he was often so cold to Chuck and why he told Chuck his mother was dead.

  22. Well, my theory is that the show is actually going to end on a bitter note. That people who remain shallow, die alone. Everyone in the show is taking a turn for the worse, be it Lily, Serena, Blair or Chuck. Nobody's lovable anymore. Nobody's redeemable anymore. These are their true colours, they're pathetic and self-centered and so they're doomed to a life of fake laughs and masks.
I may be getting ahead of myself here but at this point, this is what I've come to conclude.

  23. Sorry but Ivy will be back next season, sighs and SMH vigorously

  24. This was a disaster wrapped in gut wrenching mundane and pointless action, character destroying, heart breaking episode. I am sticking it out to the end but do they have to make it sooo effing hard?

    ReplyDelete
  25.  I couldn't say it any better myself!

  26.  Not great.

     - At this point, it would probably be better to go all the way and make the Van der Woodsens the villains on this show.  Both Serena and Lily are more awful than they've ever been before.
     - Someone should tell Ivy that she should aim higher than trying to be part of the VDW family.  She deserves better and so does Rufus.
     - The Blair / Dan stuff was kind of boring except for their last scene.
     - It's frustrating that Lola keeps threatening to leave but never does.
     - Chuck's storyline is running around in circles.  It's getting really stupid.
