I can't get the phrase "Be careful what you wish for" out of my mind. I kept wanting for our Lincoln to get some other purpose than hanging rather uselessly around the Fringe team and staring at Olivia. So what happens? AltLincoln is killed and Lincoln goes to do his job and probably stare at Fauxlivia. Irony bites.
I'm so sad about AltLincoln, especially because the other Olivia wasn't there when he died, and he never got to tell her how he felt. But I also think it's a pretty interesting road to go down, what with our Lincoln playing for their side. And is Lincoln/Fauxlivia going to happen now? It's a good twist, but I'm not sure I like it yet. Will have to stop being sad about AltLincoln and see how the next few episodes play out before I decide.
True. But between Fauxlivia having fallen for Peter when he thought she was Olivia, and Lincoln's last crush being a girl who had most of her memories replaced by an alternate timeline's version of herself, complete with a very serious relationship with another guy, well, who can handle the awkward better than they can? It can't be any more uncomfortable than Lincoln getting all sadface whenever Olivia can't remember all their moments together. At least he and this Fauxlivia would be on the same page, awkward-wise.
Not that I'm sure I want this to happen. I'm just saying that in Fringe, awkward, like weird, is relative.
i knew this would happen, the whole reversal of roles though , alt-livia is having a similar situation as our olivia had lost partner etc i dont support the lincoln.altlivia thing , for her it would be like grief i dont know
Yeah, I'm with you guys!!! I'm also sad about loosing ALtLincoln, he was our first lincoln RIP Linc. I do ship (Flincoln) Though, they are just so sweet together, and He fits over there more then he does on our side anyway!
This for me was a very good episode, but not awesome.
- Grazing Day was hilarious! - Gene has SADS! XD - Fauxltliva is BAD ASS! Another telling episode to reinforce that. - I loved Walter telling his new toy that it will be fun to "study" him before realizing "Help" was a better word to use!
I think like A Short Story About Love this suffered from being a bit heavy-handed. We have known for weeks if not months that OurLee does not fit in and feels like an outsider on the Fringe team. I think the set up was enough , but having Canaan say everything Lee has been feeling felt too direct to me.. A bit on the nose. I think Fringe works best when it is layered and subtle not obvious and direct.
That said, I really like the COTW element. origin shifter Canaan made for a sad story and was a great lead-in to getting inside DRJ's network of operations! Now will Fauxlivia or Asptrid crack the database and figure out that big red flashing dot in the Department of Defense or Fringe Division is Broyles? XD
I found it interesting that OurLee has been witness to the effect of having Peter in their lives changes so many things - ESPECIALLY changes Olivia. Yet he cannot see that having Fauxlivia in Lincoln's life was the catalyst for Lincoln's changes that made him a different man from himself. He keeps wondering what was different when Fauxlivia is right in his ear or standing in front of him.... C'mon Agent Lee!
Great episode, but I really dread this time of the season when we have many COTW episodes before we get into the heavy myth arc episodes before a finale. Maybe this season will be different since they have so much to work out if it is a series finale. *SCREAM*
I somewhat doubt the Fauxlivia / OurLee thing will be much of a focus going forward. There are so few episodes left and so much yet to tell. I think this was"that" episode and we may not see another nod to FLee.
I'm starting to think Lincoln was murdered in the hospital. He survived getting burnt to a crisp, and we know they have the technology to fix bullet wounds in mere hours.
One quick word before I begin: I want to wish Seth Gabel, his family, and any other Jewish Fringie that may be reading this, a happy Passover.
Now, to business. This episode did the impossible: It made me not hate this Lincoln anymore. However, the death of the other Lincoln was completely unnecessary.
I have very greatly missed the other side this season (I imagine due to budget cutbacks), so it was great to see it again; especially with the two best characters from there. Mantis sounds like a terrible superhero, but then again, so does a "flying rat". Another good thing was the bridge room reversing the environmental degradation. At least something good came out of Peterlessness.
The shapeshifter plotline wasn't as strong as I would've hoped. Something like Do Shapeshifters Dream Of Electric Sheep would've been a better episode. Canaan wasn't a very interesting character.
Something that desperately needs resolved is the whole thing surrounding Col. Broyles. I suspect that the reason he's in cahoots with Jones has something to do with his son, Christopher. Maybe Jones offered Broyles a way to fix Christopher is exchange for aiding him in his Noah's Ark ZFT thing.
I'll have more thoughts tomorrow, when I've had time to process the info.
It really is but this is the only show i watch that isn't shipper-fied to death ;P Between Castle and a few others i almost dread reading the comments!
I think it depends on whether or not we get next season, and how many episodes we get. I'd agree, though, that they probably won't spend too much time on their possible relationship the rest of this season. Probably.
I have to say i love Fauxliva, she has a spark,a jest for life that our Olivia doesn't have or show.
And Walter with Gene just to funny, sad that Gene has sads, jeez i'm still laughing at a cow wearing an FBI overcoat..too much!
I never thought i would say this but i really feel bad for THE OTHER LINCOLN,HERE THAT RICK,ha!
Now i'll read the comments, and re-watch.I MISSED the last 2 minutes of the episode the DVR started to record In Plain Sight, and Blue Bloods..pulling my hair out, what did i miss???
Fauxlivia looked through Lincon's locker and saw a picture of the two of them together laughing, one of them together when Fauxlivia won her marksmen medal and she started to grieve. Then OurLee said, "Helloooo?" and Fauxlivia looked like she was hearing a voice from the grave. OurLee apologized and said he was wrong to go there and that he would leave. She sat him down, told him it was alright and smiled at him warmly when he said that she thought she may need him. To help track DRJ's shifters and of course with grieving since he wuvs her. XD
I thought this was an awesome episode. Starting from Lincoln walking in just when Peter and Walter were taking Gene out to graze, to Olivia having forgotten about the trinket he gave her, to Lincoln being instrumental in discovering the shapeshifter element to the COTW, to the sad loss of AltLinc (didn't expect that, I thought they'd fix him), to the arrest of red-lipsticked Meana, it was exciting. Lincoln's situation of not feeling rooted was drummed in pretty hard, to be sure, but if that's what the story was about, I guess the writers wanted to make sure we didn't miss it. And it made the Linc/AltLiv scene so sweet.
I'd love to read others' interpretation of the title, Everything in its Right Place. One thing is it has to do with OurLinc feeling rootless, but are there other meanings?
I thought Lincoln had that puppy dog look during one point in the episode,i'm not surprised. I did notice that when Fauxliva looks at Lincoln she actually looks at him, whereas when our Olivia looks/talks to him she sees right threw him...Well,if they can find comfort in each other, why not...
I easily could see it meaning that in Red universe OurLee/ BLue Lee/ LincAlt is analogous to Red Peter. And to that end.... does that mean that Fauxlivia was always meant to be with OurLee? September hinted that Red Peter and Blue Olivia should be Henry's parents and not Fauxlivia and Red Peter. What if we take that from Fauxlivia's perspective and not Peter's. If Peter and Fauxlivia's Henry was wrong, could Fauxlivia and OurLee's baby be "right" for Red universe??Maybe the star-crossed lovers FRINGE version is universe-crossed lovers and each universe has their Romeo and Juilet....I guess it could also mean Canaan was supposed to be in Blue Universe too if we take it from a more skeptical v iew. IS DRJ smart enough to anticipate that many moves in advance to get Lee to take Canaan over to Blue? Intriguing.......
Fantastic ep. Guess we knew that it would be one of the Lincs from all the previous rumours, but was hoping that it wouldn't be the cool Linc, but figured it would now that our-livia is out of his reach with the Peter being there and her memories becoming tuned to Olivia prime, that our Linc would want to stay over there to be closer to Faux.... really though that after surviving that bad burn before, a simple bullet couldn't slow down alt-Linc... Bummer. Nice development with the capture of Meana Sharp and having Caanan the shapeshifter as an ally, wonder how this will all play out as the season races to it's conclusion, but cannot wait for it!
OMG... #“Not ‘Liv, though. Things like this never phase her. She’s the tough one. All our years working together, never once seen her barf or shed a tear….”
Wow. Simply Wow. Such major and satisfying closing off of so many loose ends (At least for me). From the start of this season people were where they weren't suppose to exist. Living life which they weren't suppose to live. I was very much intrigued when they introduced Blue.Lincoln earlier this season, but I guess it was the ripple effect of Peter getting erased.
Blue.Lincoln joined FD because his partner was killed. If by the game of probability (and in Fringeverse, it is a norm!) what if Blue.Lincoln was to die in the original timeline? Had his partner been that adamant to join FD (given that he was a family man, unlike Lee who's tether-less as he describe himself)?I meant to say that may be since Peter reappeared, the timeline which was supposed to occur started to roll like a stone from a hillside. May be today, from two of the Lincolns one was suppose to die? ...to reset to the original matrix of events. Who knows, may be Blue.Lincoln will assume the identity of Red.Lincoln? As I understand from my understanding there may be Multi- Universes, but Timeline is one."In the beginning there was Time I.Then an Observer x meddled and Time Divulged and Time II was created. It was bad and Observer x wanted to rectify.Peter was erased and Time III was created.Time III was meant to mimic Time I.It was good for Observers for a short time.Time III was unstable and Time II bled in.Observer x found that Time II is most stable. And hence Fringe was created." - I, Fringe Genesis. :P :PNo matter how much you disturb the silent water, petals of emotions always rest on the waves!:P Sorry! I was so inspired by the love-loss themes since previous episodes, I just couldn't stop myself from writing. :D :DI believe the title "Everything In Its Right Place" signify that for me.
I've found a lot of scenes a bit heavy-handed this season. The writers have been force-feeding the emotion through dialogue and lingering stares. Past seasons have had more subtlety. It's just a small gripe and one I can easily dismiss in an otherwise stellar series though.
I was sitting there watching, thinking no they couldn't kill him off. And as the scene continued I just found myself saying "Linc...Lincoln?" Sad they killed off the cooler version, wanted him and Altlivia together after the episode last season where she gave birth to little Henry. But at least our Lincoln has found a place he might be happier with, curious though what was the thing different in their past that separated the 2 Lincoln's.
Glad they caught Nina, interesting about the new shapeshifter, and will they freaking find out about Alt-Broyles yet? I thought at first Alt-Astrid went in to confront Alt-Broyles that he was working for Jones or that he was a shapeshifter.
I agree completely. The writers have changed their style in a handful of episodes and instead of letting the emotion come through the story they have made the emotion itself the story. That would be okay if they let the viewer feel interactions and scenes naturally, but they have had these cheesy dialogues one expects on some cheesy soap opera like Grey's Anatomy.
The thing I always loved about FRINGE was that the writers did not insult their viewers' intelligence. They never felt the need to make things obvious and repeat them ad nauseum until their desire was drummed into the viewer's mind.
Still one of the better shows on TV, but I have really missed the lack of subtlety and nuance in a number of episodes this season.
I kept hoping it wouldn't end in Alt!Lincoln's death but I kind of knew it would. From the beginning of the episode with Our Lincoln in the lab looking so lonely and from the title I figured his right place is in the Red!Verse.
My heart it is breaking though as Alt!Linc was the first one we every encountered and I feel in love with him immediataley.
I really need Shapeshifter Broyles to die for this, seriously and Alt!Nina and DRJ! KILL THEM ALL.
This episode proved once again why I often love the Red!Verse more than the Blue/Amber/Whatever colour we are at verse. I just think Alt!Liv is so amazing and like spunky and awesome and that works so well with both Alt!Linc and Our Linc and she pretty much has chemistry with everyone.
I thought the same thing about Astrid confronting Broyles, I kept hoping that up until the bit when the agents spoke to Alt!Liv then I knew Lincoln had died. Damn.
Heartbreaking! Just wanna sit and cry! Poor AltLincoln! He was such a great guy! And AltLiv: "She's the tough one", but she just run out of there and started crying. Poor girl!
I'm happy for OurLincoln too. I've never really loved his character because I never felt like he fitted in with the team, but I felt pretty bad for him at the beginning of this ep. He felt so out of place in the blueverse. I just liked AltLincoln so much more, he was a perfect piece of the team over there.
Well Ricky Terry and I predicted correctly. Red Lincoln was sadly and suddenly killed. Someone had asked (on The Consultant Promo Pic Page) why any of us thought that and this was my response:
think on Fringe anything is possible.Just to support the idea:In the season 1-3 time lines they were starting to do this thing where one of each doppleganger would die...Blue Charlie, Red Broyles....There also might be something to be said for people falling in love with people from other universes as a mean of "Balance". Peter and Olivia could have initially stood for that, even thought there may be shift because of the way he and Olivia end up re-configuring themselves into the new time line....Additionally 4x17 is going out of it's way to have the Lincolns meet and discuss where their lives differed. I think it's a building up for a reason. When we think about it, Blue Lee never had the oppurtunity to have his heart broken by Blue Olivia...but more importantly, Red Olivia never fully commits to Red Lee...She literally took his friendship for granted. She broke up with Frank and never sought out Peter. it might suggest that something never felt right and she never met the one she "could" really love...and ultimately if this pairing would occur, it would help Red Olivia understand Blue Olivia better, because Blue Lee is a lot like her.(Plus "Everything in It's Right Place" goes along with the idea, "which one of these things does not belong?" )Obviously there are always things that are going to be sad. People that get sacrificed, but the only thing we can hope for is that something good comes out of it. If one person in the series is really the "good guy" and a really strong well rounded character, Red Lee is him and he would want his friends to be happy. They also played it up with close calls to Blue Lee in "Nothing As It Seems"...and sometimes when one doppleganger experiences something, it may relate to the other one (ex: The same Old Story: Blue Olivia experience and astral projected accelerated birth pregnancy...it actually happens to Red Olivia)The Episode Itself:I liked a lot. I thought it was interesting to use an "old" model shapeshifter and make him a vigil-anti! It seems to play into that idea of both not thinking a person deserves to be somebody, but also this idea of genocide to make a better world. It was interesting that Jones went after the old shapeshifters and tasked them to do things. I am looking forward to a show down with Jones and our team. Unless he is working on behalf of a bigger fish, it seems he is the big villain of the piece in this timeline.
I'm really enjoying AltBroyles character, though. I'm going to miss him when they find out about him. If they manage to bring him down, that is... I imagine they will, having 3 fugitives (DRJ, Meana and AltBroyles) would maybe be too much. Plus, he wouldn't make that much sense to the story if he weren't in the division anymore. But I'd like to see that storyline go on for a few more eps before he's caught.
I think we might see a little bit of it...I think there's GREAT significance in characters falling love with people from opposite universes, whom are also opposite to them. (The blue characters make the red characters better people IMO---Red Olivia was exceptionally nice to Blue Lee all through out the episode and now Blue Lee is all she has left of Red Lee and both her and Blue Lee have lost their partners...making them sympathetic to each other's needs).
It was also interesting that the Lees couldn't figure out where they deviated...and all thought "Free Will" was presented as a logical reason for this. I may disagree, because I still say there is a fate and a persona that initially goes with these two sides outside of choices. ---But it may also be that they became "neutral" to one another because of Peter's role (Just like the machines are "fixing" the universes!) and therefor besides exterior differences, they are the same person.
I think his death seems unnecessary, except that in the construct of the universes and Peter's choice with the machines, this is how it's going to continue to "Balance" itself out...Even in the season 1-3 timelines, Blue Charlie died and Red Broyles died --almost like the universes were fighting for one over the other...(and in that case it killed off the characters who were generally content in their personal lives)
But the fact that these Lees could not figure out where their exterior differences lay, makes them appear neutral, and I think this is mean to match the original state of the Universes...that there was once just one (outside of iterations I mean).
I think it's because their at a point where they have to get a lot of stuff in and I think it's an intentional motif that the episodes feel shaken up, because that's what this universes is...a shaken up and reconstructed version of our previous time line...and I think it's meant to be erratic, -which really occurs when Peter materializes. (In "And Those We Left Behind" it was suggested that Peter may be "a force" that could be causing some of these things...I would like to think we're not done exploring that.).
The writers want to make sure we get the tie-backs and they want to establish that this timeline may be more aggressive than it was before...
The differences in the Lees probably began after 1985. I don't remember what the first vortex was (I'm thinking it was in the East River in the early nineties); but whatever it was, probably inspired the other Lincoln to join the Fringe team.
I love this episode, than again I ways love the alt universe, so I voted awesome. I think it one the best episode this season. Seth did an great job with the two lee, they really did seem like two people, well done. I still can not believe they kill Alt Lee :( he was so cool!! All I'm saying is Alt Broyles must come to a blood end and finger cross Fauxlivia and Blue Lee we get together! There was the perfect mix of humor, tension, and sorrow. Fringe is really get back in a grove of late! Roll on next week
You're also right that the environmental-event history differences lead to different cultural paths, but that is the only difference in their paths, one is hidden gem and the other just out right shines (Water/Fire)...but they are the only characters where the initial culture is what makes them different, rather than making different choices, which is why I believe it reflects the true nature of the universes...and why he is names Lincoln Lee to put together two opposing ideas and say they are connected and that they are both still the products of life.
Though i didn't think this was the best episode of the season (we still have a few left) i also couldn't believe Alt-Lee was killed..Seth made Atl-Lee whole,a complete confident, focused person,to bad it was also his swan song.
It currently appears not, because the shapeshifter takes the sniper's identity to infiltrate one of Jones' facilities (the one with the new shapeshifters)....which also then Meana is taken into custody.
--But, the truth be told I wouldn't put anything past Jones and his calculations....he may have set the Fringe team up with the shapeshifter and a distraction with Meana, so that the shapeshifter can cross over and go on a mission for Jones....
I'm still confused as to what characters are in what timelines. I really got lost along the way. Is it the current Broyles who was a traitor? Or from the other universe? Charlie is M.I.A.. There has to be a Charlie somewhere!
That whole part of the Shapeshifter "not thinking a person deserves to be someone" blew me away.I re-wound it because he (shapeshifter, name?) had bewilderment, sadness written all over his face,it totally threw me off and i found myself so sad for him...I still want to watch it again,my thoughts about it aren't complete but the last half of these season has me spinning!
In seasons 1-3, alt-Broyles was a good guy and got killed....in this new timeline (re-written because of Peter getting into the machine), Broyles is a traitor working with Jones.
Observations from the other side: the USSR poster in the opening Shapeshifter scene (so wait, its not Russia over there? lol), Mantis is the Caped Crusader not Batman (thats just wrong btw lol), Leonard Filmore is on some form of US currency, presumably the 100 dollar bill (the hazmat guy said he lost 2 Filmore's on the fight)...and the newspapers have videos embedded in them? crazy --- i love this cool little differences
Ha! God i love Walter and Peter! Walter had sheer joy on his face talking about Gene, and so did Peter.like farther like son! I'm so happy Walter and Peter are getting along,it was so hard seeing the both of them this season going thru that process of establishing a relationship again.. Red Olivia was great in this episode, actually in every episode this season, from the moment she was in the lab with Walter teasing him with candy....i hope we see more of her..
Pretty much predicted that Alt Lincoln would die and be replaced by Our Lincoln within the first 5minutes, but didn't detract from the episode as a whole, still a Great episode.
Caught that. Fringe does love to layer the differences on without announcing them. I love that about the show. Two Filmores instead of what I assume would be Franklins
I do think that there is more than a small comparison though between Olivia and Lee. Olivia's life was made better by her man from the Red universe, Peter.
For that matter now that he has "crossed over" OurLee is also VERY similar to Peter. Peter's life was made more stable and better by meeting Olivia.
Captain Lee was made a better man by his time spent with Fauxlivia. OurLee did not meet Olivia until he joined the Fringe team recently, but Captain Lee has been longtime friends/ co-workers with Fauxlivia.
It relates directly to OurLee's longing to be with Olivia and to Canaan's statement about some people are just bright lights that are special. Olivia and Fauxlivia are both "bright lights"?
It almost feels like a polarity issue. These Red and Blue universe relationships seem to complete a puzzle or are better together than apart. Greater than the sum of the parts.
Really really liked this one, the COTW was really connected with the overarching plot which is always a big, big plus for me. It's great that they're getting some headway on DRJ, and it seems like going forward we're going to be learning a lot more about altNina and altBroyles. Great ep!
I agree with that too, especially since before we really knew blue Lee, I felt that Red Lee was in the role of Peter "over there" in the season 1-3 time line.
It's hard to say for fact that Red Olivia and Red Lincoln wouldn't have made it together, because after the events of Bloodline, it does seem like there might have been a possibility, but I think the fact that we got to the season 3 finale and she still only viewed him as a friend (and that she never sought out Peter to tell him about Henry), may suggest that she never met the right guy....additionally we can argue that the door to come back to Fringe division was left open to blue Lee after "Stowaway" and it's possible that it still could have worked out in a similar way.
Ok. We assume that in this new timeline Red Broyles still died, but now he may have been replaced by a shapeshifter...He is working with Jones/Mean and some shots make him appear Odd-Eyed (which "The Day we Died"'s timeline also "teased" this possibility to us)
The new Red Charlie was mentioned...he was taking time off because I think he married Mona Foster.
I don't think we know about the new Blue Charlie...So either he died again too, or he's just not around.
I disagree about it just being a filler. There's a deeper axiom here about predetermination and using clones in space time, as means of life extension, theological beliefs, variable exchanges that I think is highly reflective of Bigger Picture concepts.
It's almost as if each universe is missing a piece of itself and finds that missing piece in the form of a person from a different universe. Then it finds a way to push or attract that piece over to it so that it completes the puzzle.Blue universe founds ways to make Red Peter a resident Blue and now circumstances have drawn Blue Lincoln over to red.Is the universe striving to fix itself or is it a ripple effect of Observer interactions? Predestination or cause and effect?
Would they always have found one another or is is due to Walter and Bell opening up windows? Interesting to think about.....
Beginning last season and especially in this season they have found a way to really make the COTW relate to the myth arc... either thematically or some detail emerges from the case that relates to the greater picture.
While I still think this was a COTW meaning it had a main focus of a case that was not the myth arc directly, I think to call it filler is a bit much.
For me there are definitely still COTW episodes and myth arc episodes, but thanks to the good writing (usually) there are very rarely true "filler" episodes on Fringe anymore.
RIP Alt-Linc - I honestly did not expect him to die and it was heartbreaking when he did but I'm glad Our-Linc has found his place and a purpose for himself. I loved Fauxlivia is this ep - the fun moments (Tyrone), her badass marksmanship skills and her sadness at Linc's death - just shows how brilliant Anna Torv is - it's like two different actors. The last scenes with Lincoln were especially good - that brief moment when she though Lincoln was alive - it was all in Anna Tove's expression. Points go to Seth Gabel as well who was great as both Lincolns. Also very excited to see Meana back!!
I see what you mean. -But even in the direct sense it still ties to the immediate Jones story line, which is now the leading to the arc of the season. I was answering Linlighthouse and discussing with Siobhan, I am not sure we are done with this specific shapeshifter...I think it's possible given his acute awareness to judge people, may play into predetermination again...Jones may have set the Fringe team up to send shapey on a mission in the blue universe...I am probably wrong, but something didn't sit with me right about it.
Great episode. I feel sory for Agent Lee. He gets a lot of stick from the fans.
One thing struck me... What kind of DOD/FBI agent is incapable of finding out her own partner's middle name after 6 years working together... Especially with the tech they have on their side.
Also, is it wrong that I want to have sexual intercourse with Blair Brown? (I'm 28)
Its kind of hard to be sad about a character dying when there is another version of them out there.. I thought Our!Linc would have died instead of Cool Linc but meh.
I was kind of thinking we'd lose a Lincoln Lee when the ep started...I immediately realized it would have to be our Lincoln because (a) pining for Olivia and (b) the sense of a return to the state of things in our universe before Peter disappeared.
Is it just me or does it seem like our Broyles hasn't been around as much as he had been in the previous seasons?
I can't even understand half of what Broyles says these days... When Colonel Broyles was taking to Agent Lee, I seriously had to rewind what he said 5 times, and still couldn't hear it properly.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
RIP Linc 1.0... : (
ReplyDeleteNo, Lincoln! I loved you, you bad-ass!
ReplyDeleteI now ship Lincoln/Alternate Olivia. Make it happen.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad about AltLincoln, especially because the other Olivia wasn't there when he died, and he never got to tell her how he felt.
Oh it will JH Wyman killed the better man so it would happen.
ReplyDeleteThat would be the most awkward relationship in the world. "You like your version of me, I like my version of you, let's go out some time!"
ReplyDeleteI'm sad...but also happy that Lincoln has found his place. I'm so torn.
ReplyDeletei know soooo sad!!! i totally expected it to be the other one!!
ReplyDeleteme too!!!! SO cute!!
ReplyDeleteTrue.
ReplyDeleteNot that I'm sure I want this to happen. I'm just saying that in Fringe, awkward, like weird, is relative.
i knew this would happen, the whole reversal of roles though , alt-livia is having a similar situation as our olivia had lost partner etc i dont support the lincoln.altlivia thing , for her it would be like grief i dont know
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm with you guys!!! I'm also sad about loosing ALtLincoln, he was our first lincoln RIP Linc.
ReplyDeleteI do ship (Flincoln) Though, they are just so sweet together, and He fits over there more then he does on our side anyway!
It's so hard to choose 'awesome' when Lincoln died tonight, I'm so sad right now.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the "OUCH too painful to watch" option? :'(
ReplyDeleteit hurt so much..
ReplyDeleteThis for me was a very good episode, but not awesome.
ReplyDelete- Grazing Day was hilarious!
- Gene has SADS! XD
- Fauxltliva is BAD ASS! Another telling episode to reinforce that.
- I loved Walter telling his new toy that it will be fun to "study" him before realizing "Help" was a better word to use!

ReplyDeleteThe whole season three alt-verse dynamic is so different now!! First we didn't have Scarlie, and now Linc!! I'm so upset right now..... :'(
ReplyDeleteOh please,please don't combine their names,this is not a shipper show. :)
ReplyDeleteHaahaha!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing but found myself typing FLee instead of Fauxlivia and OurLee. IT was just so much shorter! X /
One quick word before I begin: I want to wish Seth Gabel, his family, and any other Jewish Fringie that may be reading this, a happy Passover.
ReplyDeleteNow, to business.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait till next week.
I think it depends on whether or not we get next season, and how many episodes we get. I'd agree, though, that they probably won't spend too much time on their possible relationship the rest of this season. Probably.
ReplyDeleteaww man! I loved Alt-Lincoln!!!!! i am just glad they caught Meana
ReplyDeleteI too often hate combined names, but someone else mentioned Flincoln and I love it. Flincoln.
ReplyDeletewith you.
ReplyDeletetotally
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeleteI have to say i love Fauxliva, she has a spark,a jest for life that our Olivia doesn't have or show.
ReplyDeleteAnd Walter with Gene just to funny, sad that Gene has sads, jeez i'm still laughing at a cow wearing an FBI overcoat..too much!
Oh no,not you too! shaking my fists at you!! :) It is cute.
ReplyDeleteI like this. AltLinc was different because he had Fauxlivia with him. And I can't wait for Shapeshifter Broyles to be obliterated.
ReplyDeleteFauxlivia looked through Lincon's locker and saw a picture of the two of them together laughing, one of them together when Fauxlivia won her marksmen medal and she started to grieve. XD
ReplyDeleteI thought this was an awesome episode.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to read others' interpretation of the title, Everything in its Right Place. One thing is it has to do with OurLinc feeling rootless, but are there other meanings?
ReplyDeleteI really liked this episode.
ReplyDeleteI'll miss AltLincoln he was so badass.
Gene!
Fauxlivia made me tear up at the end. So sad.
ReplyDeleteI easily could see it meaning that in Red universe OurLee/ BLue Lee/ LincAlt is analogous to Red Peter.
ReplyDeleteAnd to that end.... does that mean that Fauxlivia was always meant to be with OurLee?
ReplyDeleteIt was so sad alt Lincoln is dead. Our Lincoln is now working with fauxilivia.
ReplyDeleteOMG...
ReplyDelete#“Not ‘Liv, though. Things like this never phase her. She’s the tough one. All our years working together, never once seen her barf or shed a tear….”
Until now.... :,(
RIP Alter-L!
♥
Wow.
ReplyDeleteBlue.Lincoln joined FD because his partner was killed.
Laughing so hard at this right now.
ReplyDeleteI've found a lot of scenes a bit heavy-handed this season. The writers have been force-feeding the emotion through dialogue and lingering stares. Past seasons have had more subtlety. It's just a small gripe and one I can easily dismiss in an otherwise stellar series though.
ReplyDeleteI was sitting there watching, thinking no they couldn't kill him off.
ReplyDeleteGlad they caught Nina, interesting about the new shapeshifter, and will they freaking find out about Alt-Broyles yet? I thought at first Alt-Astrid went in to confront Alt-Broyles that he was working for Jones or that he was a shapeshifter.
I agree completely.
ReplyDeleteThe writers have changed their style in a handful of episodes and instead of letting the emotion come through the story they have made the emotion itself the story.
Does USSR still exist in alternative universe? :O
ReplyDeleteI kept hoping it wouldn't end in Alt!Lincoln's death but I kind of knew it would. From the beginning of the episode with Our Lincoln in the lab looking so lonely and from the title I figured his right place is in the Red!Verse.
ReplyDeleteMy heart it is breaking though as Alt!Linc was the first one we every encountered and I feel in love with him immediataley.
Damn.
ReplyDeleteI thought the rumor of Lincoln got killed is just fan-made?!
ReplyDeleteGood Lord, my heart hurts a lot. Sigh...
Heartbreaking! Just wanna sit and cry! Poor AltLincoln! He was such a great guy! And AltLiv: "She's the tough one", but she just run out of there and started crying. Poor girl!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe they chose to kill the cool Linc!!! Don't they have enough complaining from the fans for killing off Charlie Francis??
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for OurLincoln too. I've never really loved his character because I never felt like he fitted in with the team, but I felt pretty bad for him at the beginning of this ep. He felt so out of place in the blueverse. I just liked AltLincoln so much more, he was a perfect piece of the team over there.
ReplyDeleteWell Ricky Terry and I predicted correctly. Red Lincoln was sadly and suddenly killed. Someone had asked (on The Consultant Promo Pic Page) why any of us thought that and this was my response:
ReplyDeletethink on Fringe anything is possible.Just to support the idea:In the season 1-3 time lines they were starting to do this thing where one of each doppleganger would die...Blue Charlie, Red Broyles....There also might be something to be said for people falling in love with people from other universes as a mean of "Balance".
ReplyDeleteI think we might see a little bit of it...I think there's GREAT significance in characters falling love with people from opposite universes, whom are also opposite to them. (The blue characters make the red characters better people IMO---Red Olivia was exceptionally nice to Blue Lee all through out the episode and now Blue Lee is all she has left of Red Lee and both her and Blue Lee have lost their partners...making them sympathetic to each other's needs).
ReplyDeleteIt was also interesting that the Lees couldn't figure out where they deviated...and all thought "Free Will" was presented as a logical reason for this.
ReplyDeleteBut the fact that these Lees could not figure out where their exterior differences lay, makes them appear neutral, and I think this is mean to match the original state of the Universes...that there was once just one (outside of iterations I mean).
ReplyDeleteThe writers want to make sure we get the tie-backs and they want to establish that this timeline may be more aggressive than it was before...
"Which One of These Things Does Not Belong?"
ReplyDeleteOMG The Grazing Day thing was so funny! :D
ReplyDeleteAnd I am glad where at a place where I can just enjoy Red Olivia. She was really great in this episode!
Yes because the Better Man has no future, he is already the better man.
ReplyDeleteYep! -Make something good out of something bad...
ReplyDeleteYep notice that too
ReplyDeleteFlincoln, love it!
ReplyDeleteThe differences in the Lees probably began after 1985. I don't remember what the first vortex was (I'm thinking it was in the East River in the early nineties); but whatever it was, probably inspired the other Lincoln to join the Fringe team.
ReplyDeleteWhats that saying, making lemonade out of lemons???? Something like that... :P
ReplyDeleteGood catch i didn't notice!
ReplyDeleteI love this episode, than again I ways love the alt universe, so I voted awesome.
ReplyDeleteSame here! That's what i thought but now not too sure about anything?
ReplyDeleteYou're also right that the environmental-event history differences lead to different cultural paths, but that is the only difference in their paths, one is hidden gem and the other just out right shines (Water/Fire)...but they are the only characters where the initial culture is what makes them different, rather than making different choices, which is why I believe it reflects the true nature of the universes...and why he is names Lincoln Lee to put together two opposing ideas and say they are connected and that they are both still the products of life.
ReplyDeleteThough i didn't think this was the best episode of the season (we still have a few left) i also couldn't believe Alt-Lee was killed..Seth made Atl-Lee whole,a complete confident, focused person,to bad it was also his swan song.
ReplyDeleteIt currently appears not, because the shapeshifter takes the sniper's identity to infiltrate one of Jones' facilities (the one with the new shapeshifters)....which also then Meana is taken into custody.
ReplyDelete--But, the truth be told I wouldn't put anything past Jones and his calculations....he may have set the Fringe team up with the shapeshifter and a distraction with Meana, so that the shapeshifter can cross over and go on a mission for Jones....
I guess only time will tell which way it is.
Woah! Nice catch!
ReplyDelete100% agree with this, it was so clear the difference ways the two Olivia look at lue Lee
ReplyDeleteWas thinking the same thing...maybe we find out more about Jones plan next week
ReplyDeleteI'm still confused as to what characters are in what timelines. I really got lost along the way. Is it the current Broyles who was a traitor? Or from the other universe? Charlie is M.I.A.. There has to be a Charlie somewhere!
ReplyDeleteThat whole part of the Shapeshifter "not thinking a person deserves to be someone" blew me away.I re-wound it because he (shapeshifter, name?) had bewilderment, sadness written all over his face,it totally threw me off and i found myself so sad for him...I still want to watch it again,my thoughts about it aren't complete but the last half of these season has me spinning!
ReplyDeleteBroyels from the "Other timeline" is the traitor,it can get confusing! :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe now the Prime Suspect was cancelled and if Kirk is available maybe Alt Charlie (Other timeline) will surface...??
In seasons 1-3, alt-Broyles was a good guy and got killed....in this new timeline (re-written because of Peter getting into the machine), Broyles is a traitor working with Jones.
ReplyDeleteObservations from the other side: the USSR poster in the opening Shapeshifter scene (so wait, its not Russia over there? lol), Mantis is the Caped Crusader not Batman (thats just wrong btw lol), Leonard Filmore is on some form of US currency, presumably the 100 dollar bill (the hazmat guy said he lost 2 Filmore's on the fight)...and the newspapers have videos embedded in them? crazy --- i love this cool little differences
ReplyDeleteHa! God i love Walter and Peter! Walter had sheer joy on his face talking about Gene, and so did Peter.like farther like son! I'm so happy Walter and Peter are getting along,it was so hard seeing the both of them this season going thru that process of establishing a relationship again..
ReplyDeleteRed Olivia was great in this episode, actually in every episode this season, from the moment she was in the lab with Walter teasing him with candy....i hope we see more of her..
Pretty much predicted that Alt Lincoln would die and be replaced by Our Lincoln within the first 5minutes, but didn't detract from the episode as a whole, still a Great episode.
ReplyDeleteCaught that. Fringe does love to layer the differences on without announcing them. I love that about the show. Two Filmores instead of what I assume would be Franklins
ReplyDeleteI like the fixing of the universes concept...
ReplyDeleteI do think that there is more than a small comparison though between Olivia and Lee.
Great ep!
ReplyDeleteReally loved it! Seth Gabel is a very convincing actor and AltLiv makes me weak at the knees. It felt slightly filler-ish, though.
ReplyDeleteI agree with that too, especially since before we really knew blue Lee, I felt that Red Lee was in the role of Peter "over there" in the season 1-3 time line.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to say for fact that Red Olivia and Red Lincoln wouldn't have made it together, because after the events of Bloodline, it does seem like there might have been a possibility, but I think the fact that we got to the season 3 finale and she still only viewed him as a friend (and that she never sought out Peter to tell him about Henry), may suggest that she never met the right guy....additionally we can argue that the door to come back to Fringe division was left open to blue Lee after "Stowaway" and it's possible that it still could have worked out in a similar way.
Ok. We assume that in this new timeline Red Broyles still died, but now he may have been replaced by a shapeshifter...He is working with Jones/Mean and some shots make him appear Odd-Eyed (which "The Day we Died"'s timeline also "teased" this possibility to us)
ReplyDeleteThe new Red Charlie was mentioned...he was taking time off because I think he married Mona Foster.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about that aspect of Stowaway...
ReplyDeleteIt's almost as if each universe is missing a piece of itself and finds that missing piece in the form of a person from a different universe.
ReplyDeleteWhile I still think this was a COTW meaning it had a main focus of a case that was not the myth arc directly, I think to call it filler is a bit much.
For me there are definitely still COTW episodes and myth arc episodes, but thanks to the good writing (usually) there are very rarely true "filler" episodes on Fringe anymore.
So Fauxlivia will be making Lincolnade in the near future?
ReplyDeleteLOL :D
ReplyDeleteI suppose Millard Fillmore was much more famous in the alt universe. It must be the placed him on the money.
ReplyDeleteRIP Alt-Linc - I honestly did not expect him to die and it was heartbreaking when he did but I'm glad Our-Linc has found his place and a purpose for himself.
ReplyDeleteI see what you mean.
ReplyDeleteGreat episode.
ReplyDeleteI feel sory for Agent Lee.
Was awesome sucks that the other Linc is dead. I just have this feeling that the other Linc will hook up with the red head Olivia for some reason
ReplyDeleteIts kind of hard to be sad about a character dying when there is another version of them out there.. I thought Our!Linc would have died instead of Cool Linc but meh.
ReplyDeleteCap.Lee is dead and Agent Lee will replace him! Nice twist!
ReplyDeleteI was kind of thinking we'd lose a Lincoln Lee when the ep started...I immediately realized it would have to be our Lincoln because (a) pining for Olivia and (b) the sense of a return to the state of things in our universe before Peter disappeared.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or does it seem like our Broyles hasn't been around as much as he had been in the previous seasons?
When she crossed over earlier this season Red Olivia said something to Olivia about preferring good guys... OurLee is definitely a good guy.
ReplyDeleteI can't even understand half of what Broyles says these days... When Colonel Broyles was taking to Agent Lee, I seriously had to rewind what he said 5 times, and still couldn't hear it properly.
ReplyDelete
