    I wonder if it is someone connected with Jessica's death, like maybe Stanton is still alive, and because of something she did to keep Reese in line Jessica was killed

    Or someone connected to Reese's past life who Reese had to choose to protect at the cost of Jessica's life.  And this would open up old wounds of how Reese couldn't be in two places at once with Jessica as collateral dammage.
