Once Upon a Time - Season 1 - Suspicions Around DVD Release

30 Apr 2012

Suspicions are flying when it comes to this television show! A season 1 DVD and Blu-Ray release date have apparently started spreading across the Internet, saying season 1, fully packed with all 22 episodes, will be out on August 28, 2012. I don't have any knowledge of any official statement coming from the ABC network about this, but seeing as its finale is soon to come and a new season is not far behind, an August date wouldn't be *that* weird. That's all the info I have for now, but I'll keep you updated on any further information!

  2. Well, remembering back to when I bought DVD releases instead of digitally purchasing the episodes, August is pretty standard for a network set, no?  Usually it was a couple weeks before the new season.

  3. August release? Is this an OUAT in joke? XD

  4. As soon as I read 'August' I was sure it was a lie ;-)

  5. August seems like the right time to me if they want to possibly pick up new viewers for the second season. Having it then gives them time to catch it if they didn't watch it as it was aired originally. Some people do wait for DVDs to get all of the episodes at once.

  6. So cannot wait for this BluRay!

  7. Doesn't seem suspicious to me. Summer is always when they release DVDs.

  8. Depending on the network, the creators of a show, the popularity of the show, and the company who releases the DVD, a TV show season DVD can come out as early as two months to a week before the show comes back for another season. So it's actually not far fetched at all....

  9. Most of the fall shows I watch usually get releases at end of August to end of September.

  10. I'm down. Enough time to catch up on all 22 hours before the season two premiere.

  11.  So...  what's so suspicious about any of this?

  12. I wrote suspicious because no official statement (as far as my eyes reach) have been released. The rumor has been spread, but I can't find any representative commenting it. Possibly bad choice of words, my bad.

  15. Some shows do get their DVD released in August. Whether it is a comedically funny reference, or just another random date, will have to be determined when an official word from the network is published :)

  16.  Nothing suspicious about it. TV show DVDs come out all the time two months to a week before the new season starts.

  17. The first 5 DVD included a sticker that said the full season would be available around the same time, so it fits.
