This isn't news, at all. That's even shorter than the synopsis released for the finale nearly a month ago, and says the same thing. I guess they're really keeping this one under wraps. Although the press release will presumably say more. I'm looking forward to the press releases for 4.23 and 4.24 to see the cast lists...Robin Tunney did say to expect a lot of old characters returning.
I really don't see 'Red John' ending anytime soon (good, I love the storyline). So, anyone who really doesn't like it THAT much should either 1. Prepare yourself to wait it out or 2. Stop watching the show. Simple as.
Ooh i dunno though, i kinda love watching him run Patrick into the ground. I don't think any twist of the plot that had Red John being actually caught/killed could live up to that. I get where you're coming from though, sometimes the lack of progress can get a little stale. With this show i'm okay but with others i've felt it.
And thus would be the worst plot twist in the TV world...
Especially when Bruno Heller has already said multiple times that Jane is NOT Red John. How disappointing would it be for a show that has gone on for 5+ years if the main character that we all have grown to love, turned out to be the bad guy?
I also would like to know how Jane managed to talk to Red John via instant message with several people watching him if he is in fact, Red John. How did he manage to talk to himself? How did he manage to get to Tiuana to kill Renfrew while he was in California, heck in the same room, with the whole team? How did he manage to follow Darcy with a webcam while he watched the live footage with Grace?
Jane wouldn't be the only one, because there are more than one. It's a cult. Timothy Carter was a member (he's probably the one who actually killed Jane's family); O'Laughlin, Bosco's secretary, etc. However, at the head, the person who brought them all together is Jane. He was running the cult during his days as a psychic, maybe to bring in extra money. The talk show where he insulted Red John was a bit of arrogant posturing; one of the true believers (Carter, probably) started committing murders, and the talk show was retaliation. But when Jane saw the bodies, it sent him into a fugue state that erased the memories of the Red John cult.
The show wouldn't be the same without Red John, and as much as I love the funnier, more lighthearted episodes in between, the Red-John-episodes are always the most brilliant. And they present the biggest challenge for the actors, especially Baker, of course, and I'm always delighted to see the results. I think it would be absolutely impossible to find another foe for Jane with even half as much impact as Red John...so I don't see the storyline ending anytime soon, and I'm absolutely fine with that.
I still don't get how Jane ends up shooting a team member. Is it an accident? Is he drunk when he does it? Are his nerves shot from the Red John case and he mistakes a CBI team member for a criminal? Did he think the gun wasn't loaded? This whole thing seems very strange.
Sure, go ahead and blow my mind why don't you! Ha now that would be something! The reason being what Nerwen said below! :).....that really would be something, and suck!
Oh Pheral i was writing and writing a response to your comment when BAM my router crapped out! Its been giving me grief for days,Time/Warner can't come until Saturday.Anyway what i was saying is i agree and that's what i was saying. After awhile something has to give or you run the chance of losing viewers. The rest of the crew has a storyline but its pretty weak, maybe if they went into there lives a little more it might balance out? Pheral did anyone ever get back to you about the top 250?
That's....really really complicated and it still doesn't explain who Red John is now.
Besides why would his followers retaliate against him for him making fun of himself? That doesn't make any sense. It doesn't explain why his followers wouldn't tell him who he is. It doesn't explain how Jane could also be Roy, the man the blind woman fell in love with, because they have stated multiple times that that man is Red John, but he doesn't fit Jane's description.
Besides, Jane has already been in a fugue state on the show, you are saying he was in two fugue states at once?
Isn't the simpler explanation the one the show is following. Jane screwed up, pissed off a serial killer and is now hell bent on revenge and mired in an elaborate game of cat and mouse. Simple, succinct and a lot less confusing with no need rewrite the history of the show or explain how Jane was in two places at once.
I think Jane is going to have another mental breakdown and the season will end with him being checked back into a hospital, that might explain a few things at least.
That's REALLY bad. At least once he could actually make a progress when it comes to catching Red John. And now he even shoots one of his own?! This season is not gonna end well.
I can see Jane losing it, becoming delusional, capping someone, and being checked into a hospital. If that's the case, it makes the new girlfriend seem a bit suspicious to me. She's supposed to continue her role next season and what kind of woman continues her relationship with a guy she just met who goes nuts and shoots someone?
Here how I think it will work: Patrick finds a new solid lead on Red John or on one of his accomplices. So he pursues them, finds them, but before he’s able to exert his vengeance upon them (or torture them to find other clue to RJ’s location), he’s being stopped by Lisbon. Patrick, while being obsessed with his revenge, intends to go over that obstacle, so he shoots Lisbon. Emmanuelle Chriqui’s character will encourage Jane’s dark agenda. (Ruby from Supernatural anyone?)). She might be one of Red John’s accomplices as well. If you’ve ever seen the movie “Se7en”, you can get a good idea of what RJ’s real plan is. I'm pretty sure it's the most plausible variant of the season finale.
lol that doesn't even classify as a tweet of the synopsis. They did show one for 4.23 but without the cast list (funny eh?) http://www.spoilertv.com/2012/04/mentalist-episode-423-red-rover-red.html
I too wonder what old characters returning? unless that was an interview before the premier of S4, then we had Craig, Ardiles, Stiles, Erica, etc.
ITA; plus if Jane was RJ well, that's a theory that maaaaaany people have thought. I want to give the writers a bit of credit, even if sometimes they do make me wonder. Make RJ is Jane's dad, who knows.
Oh no i hate that! I lost a huge essay of an email recently to a power cut, so i know your pain. :P Thanks someone replied and said it was a Disqus feature based on comments/likes/replies on the specific website, which makes sense, thanks! I like my little 'top 250' - makes me feel important, lol. :P
Yes they maybe need to strengthen the team plots a bit to support the lack of progress with RJ, good idea really. I personally don't mind, i enjoy anticipation sometimes more than the pay-off - i love cliffhangers for the same reason! :D
Honestly, it makes me nervous. Granted, Jane loosing it and shooting someone on his own side is definitely 'drama,' it just doesn't sound like the kind of drama I'd be able to enjoy. Watching characters I care about self-destruct has never really been my thing. I keep holding out hope that all will not be as it seems....
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I... that... say what now??

ReplyDeleteJust that? -.-
ReplyDeleteCome on! a REAL synopsis please!
ReplyDeleteWe need MORE synopsis!
ReplyDeleteGood bye! *waves* Meanwhile, I LOVE RED JOHN.
ReplyDeleteAh but it's not just one guy. It's one guy and god knows how many others doing his bidding XD
ReplyDeleteI really don't see 'Red John' ending anytime soon (good, I love the storyline). So, anyone who really doesn't like it THAT much should either 1. Prepare yourself to wait it out or 2. Stop watching the show. Simple as.

ReplyDeleteyeah.... that doe smake you question her sanity. Maybe he shot a team member but not badly?? yeah, it doesn't make it sound better either.
ReplyDeleteAny chance the shooting is part of a setup, i.e., not a real shooting at all?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely curious how this one is going to play out.
Shoot one of their own? Van Pelt? being the mole for RJ?
