The current eight-episode third season of the ABC Family series Make It Or Break It will be its last. The writing has pretty much been on the wall for the gymnastics drama, which first faced cancellation last summer, following its second 20-episode season which was down from the 20-epsiode Season 1. But last September, the network renewed the series for eight episodes “in time to ignite Olympic fever,” as ABC Family president Michael Riley put it. The timing does make sense as the premise of the series was following several elite female teen gymnasts dreaming of competing at the upcoming summer 2012 Olympics in London. The current abbreviated third season chronicles the final leg of the race to the Olympics, with the May 14 finale revealing who of the three girls will make the U.S. team for the games. ABC Family this week began promoting the May 14 closer as the series finale, with Make It Or Break It creator Holly Sorenson chiming in on Twitter. “We are, very sadly, three weeks away from the series finale of MIOBI,” she wrote on Monday. ABC Family has three new series on tap for this summer, drama Bunheads, comedy Baby Daddy and docuseries Beverly Hills Nannies.

    No shock there. The promo for next week's episode spoiled the "series finale" bit anyway...
    I'm just upset because there was so little Sasha (easily the best character and Neil definitelly the best actor on the show) in these 8 final episodes.

    Like everyone else, I'm not surprised. I was surprised, however, when ABC Family gave this show the last-minute reprieval in the form of a third season pick-up (albeit for an abbreviated, eight-episode run).
    It's sad that the announcement is only coming now, when I'm sure they made that decision a while ago. Just not fair toward the fans...

    Wait, so it will not end with the girls going to the Olympic Games? I'm so tired of abcfamily canceling shows... they keep airing the crappest shows and canceling the best. I won't see any of those new shows because even if I would love them at first, I know how it will end: with abcfamily cancelling it without finishing the story properly.

    I think they should go ahead and let Secret Life sing its swan song too. It started out with crappy writing and crappy acting and hasn't gotten any better...just keeps recycling story lines.  It is like a train wreck, no matter how awful it is I keep watching and it is about time to let go.

    Nope, it will end with them showing which girls make the Olympic team (I think).  With the direction that this season has been going, I think it's probably a smart move to just put it out of its misery.  They keep piling on more and more stuff to make it "interesting".

    i really wish it wasnt canceled but i did see it comming. i think it should be ending with the olympics not which girls r going. i bet if the wernt canceled it wud hav ended tht way

    Payson Keeler should be a female Shot Putter, you telling me she has the body of a Ol.ympic Gymnast? her under arm bulge and her hippo hips, she has a not to bad body but seriously she needed to be casted out after she broke her back, oh ya and she's going on 23 lmao, good riddance

    I was really hoping this season was a bit longer as well to the Olympics! And I wish they would brought Emily and Damon back as a guest to show how that played out !! Ughh I hate when they cancel shows !

    dpmo this actually makes me soo angry withwords i cant describe!! i loved that show and have watched every single episode how can u abc people cut the show half way through withought any final ending so what if you got low ratings well some people out there well damn liked the show. why do they always just put on there damn boring shows and leave the best shows out there that show was the only show that i know of gymnastics and it makes me wanna go back to gymnastics you lots jus dont think about others when you cut a show which is perfectly fine

    That's not fare, abc family anyways does the same crap to the best shows..... we MIOBI fans had so much to look forward to, and abc famliy took that anyway.... if you gonna cancel a show, try one of the stupid ones, that have no real meaning to it!!!!!!!
