I imagine Cas will be back in season 8 too, JC is known to be a bit of a Dean and Cas fanboy so I would be suprised.
My question is what was the point in 'killing' off Bobby and getting rid of Cas when they were only ever going to bring them back again any way. This whole season has been a complete an utter waste of time from where I'm sitting. Sam and Dean are still reliant on others bailing them out.
I hope Jim is wrong and we dont see Bobby back in season 8 and I really hope we dont see Cas again either. The show seems to be stuck in a never ending cycle of kill character/bring them back/kill character/bring them back. Isnt it time Sam and Dean fought new foes? Gained new allies? Had new adventures?
I have to disagree Cas and Bobby are great supporting cast for the boys. Both J's say the show is better with them because it gives the boys someone regular to bounce off of and helps define Sam and Dean better. And from S1 the boys always had help from their dad's journal to dad and then Bobby.
They could bounce off other characters just as well. No Bobby or Cas doesnt mean the narrowing of Sam and Dean's world unless the writers want it to. They could easily write in new characters that arent Bobby or Cas and deliever the same/different support. As far as I know Jared and Jensen work well with anyone, they like Jim and Misha yes but they would also like anyone who came on set and worked with them.
It feels like the writers are just reverting back to same old same old because they cant think of anything new. Bobby and Cas have not only become a crutch for the boys but for the writers too. Besides neither character has proven to affect ratings in any way. There will be the usual drop off in viewers and demo next season but that wont be becuase neither Bobby or Cas were not brought back.
I dont know about anyone else but even when Sam and Dean had John's journal for info they still put clues together themselves, researched themselves and kicked ass themselves. That hasnt been a regular occurance for a while now.
Yes, the boys have always had help and so have the other hunters or Bobby wouldn't have had all of the phone lines. You do the job they do alone. There has to be a network.
Amen. One of the things I like about them is they are heroes who aren't perfect and aren't afraid to ask for help. They are human, they have major flaws, and we love them that way.
I think there's got to a middle ground between having them around all of the time and killing them off. I thought Bobby worked well in seasons 2 and 3. At that time, they weren't living with him, he was considered a friend rather than a father, and he wasn't consulted for every case. But when the s**t hit the fan, it was nice to have someone else around to help. I'd say they also struck a good balance with Cas in seasons 4 and 6. He had a presence, but because he had his own issues, he wasn't accessible all of the time and didn't help out on regular hunts. Plus, I like hearing the angel perspective on all of this, and I miss Cas when he's not around.
But I'm all for bringing in some new blood as reoccuring characters (and yes, some of them female ... and no more annoying ones please). It would really freshen up the series and help create some new personal storylines for Sam and Dean - ones that aren't all about their own angst and suffering.
As for ghost Bobby, I'd prefer if their plan is to keep him around next season, that they just resurrect him. Yes, it diminishes his death, but I think that ship has already sailed. Also, the idea that as a ghost he's always with them (they have no privacy) creeps me out a little. Maybe he will have a life-changing epiphany and decide to retire from hunting and move away with Jody Mills.
Yeah, it doesn't make sense for the Winchesters to be alone in the world. Everybody has friends. Need allies to find the big bad. Even Batman had Robin. :P
I'm with you on this one - I don't mind that the show wants to get back to its roots, with the brothers depending on themselves, but even then they weren't totally alone. They had John's journal, and if I remember correctly, they relied on that pretty heavily in an attempt to "diagnose" the monster of the week in the first season or two. I think that Bobby and Cas really add something to the chemistry of the show in general, though I'm not sorry the angel mythology arc is over (well, until we meet two more archangels, apparently..). That kind of overstayed its welcome, even if I did love that Cas stuck around. I'd love to see more of them, but not necessarily in a "series regular" kind of capacity.
Does this mean that we have heard the good word and there will be a season 8 of Supernatural? Certainly hope so. Been waiting for weeks for some good news about it!
Finally someone gets it right - "Everyone's favorite character will be back in time for the finale -- yes, we're talking about the Impala." This may be the one character return that no one is dreading. People may fight about which character is best and who should or should nto come back, but the comments that the Impala should be replaced by a newer model are few and far between. Can't wait to see her on my TV screen again.
"Twitter death threats"? Since I'm not on tweeter: What does this mean? Fans threatening to kill Damon if Elena won't be with Stefan or are they gonna kill themselves if Elena chooses Damon over Stefan? Calm down, it's not gonna happen. Unfortunately.
Stefan is hot. So is Damon. Elena is happy with Stefan. But with Damon she could have much more fun. Damon is not so boring. Although I must say, Reaper Stefan has something …

NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Their point and I agree with them is you get more when bouncing off characters longterm--you get a lot more nuance . W
