Actually, Hart of Dixie has retained more of its audience than any other new CW show this season. It may be the only freshman drama that the network chooses to renew.
It has a better shot than Ringer, The Secret Circle, and Nikita. The network would have to pick up more pilots than ever before if they're actually considering axing all their freshman shows and replacing at least two veteran shows. That's a lot of holes to fill.
Yeah, that's what I think. Hart of Dixie has a low but steady viewership while TSC's audience continues to shrink. TSC's ratings are below Dixie's now and still haven't bottomed out.
What's more impressive is that Hart of Dixie has managed to maintain its audience even though it has the lowest rated lead-in on the network.
I just rewatched Season 2 but I could not start with season 3 because I know how horrible season 3 actually is. Its like a completly different show :-( S2 is the best in my opinion!
If TSC continues its recent ratings dive, I'd say HoD and TSC are close. But TSC have had better ratings overall the whole season... Better than 90210 which had better than HoD. So I still think TSC > HoD chances at renewal. They might also both make it. Ringer is dead. Nikita is likely dead. TSC and HoD really depend on how many pilots they are picking up for next season.
But TSC have had better ratings overall the whole season...
That's part of the problem. TSC has had a much steeper ratings decline and has yet to bottom out even though they have the benefit of the network's best lead-in - The Vampire diaries.
By contrast, Hart of Dixie's ratings have managed to level out above TSC's ratings even though they're paired with the network's worst remaining scripted lead-in - Gossip Girl.
Your theory only holds IF TSC continues its rating decline - which I did address. Furthermore, it's late in the season so decisions may already have been made. And finally, I'm not sure how consistent but more importantly, low ratings is a good argument for renewal. CW would probably just decide to axe both TSC and HoD in favour of new shows. In particular since both TSC and HoD are freshman shows.
The CW won't be making any final decisions until they figure out which pilots they want to give series orders to, with maybe the exception of Ringer which is a goner for sure.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
i miss the oc :(
ReplyDeleteI hate that these posters do the show NO justice!
ReplyDeleteSo many posters so little viewers.
ReplyDeleteI liked The OC too but that show was really running out of steam by the time it ended.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't help that they're simply reusing a previous photo shoot and slapping on a new tagline.

ReplyDeleteStill it's ratings are pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteAll CW ratings are generally low. "Bad" has become a relative term at that network.
ReplyDeleteAt this point I think its chances for renewal or cancellation are a toss up. Depending on what CW wants to do for next season.

ReplyDeleteSo, what do you think about their chances of renewal. HoD has a better chance than TSC? :D

TSC can come back it had only one 0.5 If it bounces back this week I think I will come back for season 2.
