“GOSSIP GIRL” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET)
“The Return of the Ring” (TV-14, S) (HDTV)
BLAIR MAKES A CHOICE BETWEEN THE TWO MEN IN HER LIFE — When Gossip Girl goes after Blair (Leighton Meester) as she’s never done before, Serena (Blake Lively) admits she may have unintentionally played an important role in Blair’s latest nightmare. Meanwhile, Nate (Chace Crawford) invites Lola (guest star Ella Rae Peck) to move in with him, and Lily (Kelly Rutherford) must make a big decision about the future of her marriage. Finally, by episode’s end, Blair will make a choice between the two men in her life…will it be Chuck (Ed Westwick) or will it be Dan (Penn Badgley)? Kaylee DeFer and Matthew Settle also star. J. Miller Tobin directed the episode written by Sara Goodman (#524).

i think Blair will choose Dan
ReplyDeletebut i also think as with every season finale since season 3 that chair will reunite for 5 minutes are so before blair ultimately chooses Dan :(
ReplyDeletei really hope im wrong though and chair get back together i have a strong feeling though that thats not the case
ReplyDeleteI feel like they'll have her choose to be alone so that she can stand on her own.
ReplyDeleteexcept safran says blair will choose who to be with in the finale and that whoever she chooses could very well be blairs endgame
ReplyDeleteSafran isn't showrunner anymore is he? Besides, I'm highly annoyed with everyone talking about "endgame" all the time.
ReplyDeleteTHE RETURN OF THE RING! gee I wonder which ring! LMAO
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we'll see Lola next season? And what will Ivy even have to do next season?
ReplyDeleteI really hope she chooses Dan but I don't know and I won't guess I just hope its Dan we will just have to wait and see but I do believe that Dan loves her more and that they are better for each other than chuck and blair so I hope its dan and I have a hunch that's who she will choose
ReplyDeleteWhy? I can't imagine why they'd bring back her engagement ring for no reason. Plus, we know she's filming scenes with Chuck at the end of the episode.
ReplyDeleteI think she chooses Chuck for sure. I just wish I could be happy about it. She's been so awful this season, I can't even really root for them to end up together right now... at least, not unless she makes some sort of dramatic turnaround in the next few eps.
ReplyDeletechuck and blair forever
ReplyDeleteInteresting that Sara Goodman wrote this and not Joshua Safran. Also I hope that when Serena admits to her role in making Blair's life miserable in this episode she owns up to it and doesn't go all "I didn't mean it Blair. I didn't realize this would happen". Serena loves doing that, always playing clueless victim in stuff she has a part of.
ReplyDeleteWHY would Blair be engaged to Louis for half of the season, marry him, divorce him, date Dan immediately, then go be engaged to Chuck while STILL dating Dan. WHAT? After all this talk in the last episodes of how she was weak and insecure with Chuck...you think she's going to get engaged to him 3 episodes later? LOL
ReplyDeleteI hope Blair sticks with Dan. Chuck/Blair are toxic.
ReplyDeleteEverything you just said is exactly why I think she'll choose to be alone.
ReplyDeleteI'm a Dair fan, and I don't mind her ending the season alone. She needs to find herself. But the writers have said that the D-B-C triangle will be completely over by this episode. SO it just seems to me she'll make a choice between the two. and this is GG, they don't do the woman being alone thing...especially not Blair!
ReplyDeleteoh please let this be the end of dair! I'd rather blair be alone with 5 cats than dair. i don't know how this will be played out though because she really messed up with chuck so i hope the writers make this realistic if they go there.
ReplyDeleteBlair will finally choose to be with the man she loves, leave her insecurities behind. So what if Chuck is a successful billionaire? She'll finally realize that she can be Blair Waldorf while being Chuck's girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteShe wasn't weak and insecure because she was with Chuck- she was weak and insecure in general. Same thing happened with Louis, same thing has happened with Dan. I think Blair needs to realize that the problem is not the guys, it's her.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I think she's breaking up with Dan in the finale for sure, regardless of whether she ends up engaged to Chuck.
Eh, I kind of hope she says "yeah, I screwed you over, and you totally deserved it." But unfortunately, the cardinal rule of GG is that no one is allowed to call Blair out on anything, ever, so... I'm sure Serena will end up taking the fall for it.
ReplyDeleteThe title looks promising for us Chair fans, that plus the spoiler that GG will be in 4 of the May sweeps gives me a little bit of hope that Chuck and Blair will get back together!!
ReplyDeleteI hope that Blair will choose Dan. Their love story is beautiful, they understand and support each other. If B choses Chuck it will be some sort of regression, her inner growth during this season will be pointless.
ReplyDeleteI seriously hope we are about to see Chuck and Blair reuniting - for good this time. After 5 years of ridicolous drama and improbable obstacles thrown between the couple (and especially after 5.10 and all the atrocity that did follow) it just seem fair to put an end ( a good one) to CB fans misery.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if 'Return of the ring' will be Chuck's original engagement ring for Blair, that'd be so romantic. Chair deserves a happy ending. Chair= 5 seasons. Dair- half a season.
ReplyDeleteI think that blair will end up with Chuck she just has to, she told him she never wants to leave him and confessed her love for him numerous times this season that just doesn't go away. I am not getting my hopes up though. Anything could happen though this is GG after all.
ReplyDeleteIf anybody should be Kelly Taylor-ing it at this point, it's definitely Blair.
ReplyDeleteDan was really supportive of her last ep, and it was really sweet and great. But Blair shouldn't be looking to others for insight into who she is. She should be looking within - and until she can get all that straightened out, she needs to be alone.
I don't really know, also, if Blair choosing between the two men in her life really means choosing who to be with. It could play out, for example, that Blair chooses to support Chuck in some way that cuts her off from Dan, but still leaves her single.
I'm not a shipper at all, and perhaps that's why I can still like Chuck as a character and say this much: Blair is far, far better off without him. And I think Chuck's better off without her too. They may have great chemistry, but they just drown and regress together and there's just no getting around that.
Testify! Heh, but no, you're definitely on a roll. What's it going to take to get off this "endgame" shit?
ReplyDeleteNow, it's no secret that I have a potty mouth, so it's really saying something that I find that word incredibly indecent and offensive. It's gotten to the point where it actually makes my skin crawl.
Honestly I'm so sick of Blair choosing between guys in the season finale. Give me something new.
ReplyDeleteI would hope so too.
ReplyDeleteWait, WHAT?! I'm ignoring all the Blair/Chuck/Dan crap and focusing on the fact that Nate asks Lola to move in with him... weren't they just on the outs hardcore two episodes ago? And why isn't Lola staying as far away from this nonsense as she can? So many questions...
ReplyDeleteHow does Blair understand and support Dan? I haven't seen that once during their relationship, or even really during their friendship. The main thing Blair and Dan have in common... is that they're both in love with Blair. It seems very one-sided.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone wants to know what GG has on B: Rumor has it that Serena will post B's diary on GG.
ReplyDeleteOMG YOU'RE A GENIUS! I'm not kidding here, how much more obvious could it be now.
ReplyDeleteBlair, Chuck, and a ring might give me a reason to watch this show again...
ReplyDelete"Unintetionally"?!?!?!?!? Puh-lease!!! She's so used to never getting caught, being held responcible for her screw ups and paying for mistakes that her selfentitled little ass probably has the audacity to believe whatever she did do was unintetional.
ReplyDeleteLola please say yes! Nate and you are too adorable to give up! (finally a Nate!Gilr I can totally get behind. This has been his best and healthiest relationship ever!)
I hope Blair picks Dan.
Both she and Chuck need to put it to rest. I used to love them but their romance never did them any good. They're both better off without that turmoil.
maybe she chooses Dan but she want him to go to Rome (if spoilers about that are true) and broke up... so she'll be single but also had made her choice... I don't know xDDD
ReplyDeleteand the ring could be Rufly's... the return of the ring? maybe if they get divorced, they surely 'return' their rings...
lol so true.
ReplyDeleteCan I just ask Dair fans please to go back and watch the moments between Chuck and Blair and wonder how on earth dan and blair make the better couple? like seriously what the hell are you thinking? gossip girl has lost touch with its original idea and has made it honestly an awful show. Blair said she will love chuck forever and is wishy-washy as hell now.... and blahhh i just don't understand how the writers producers whatever can have turned it into something like this.
ReplyDeleteIf chuck and blair get back together in season finale then I'll watch. But i see that as highly unlikely :(
Why exactly do you think that?
ReplyDeletei like your thinking haha
ReplyDeleteThere's always a chance that Rufus will be returning his wedding band to Lily. I wouldn't blame him for it either.
ReplyDeleteDoes EVERY season finale have to end with some Chuck/Blair drama? This storyline is SO tired! I'm sure Chuck and Blair will end up together in the end so why can't the writers give them a rest for a bit?
ReplyDeletei think they need to put her alone or them to back together.. season 6 cannot continue with this love triange it was a half love triangle end season 4 but blair didn't know and season 5 she didn't realise till episode 17.. and chuck has stayed well away from her apart from talking about her mother.. so its gotta be them two back together and i think they'll stay together next season and be happy whereas it will focus on serena and blair friendship instead of love interests
ReplyDeleteI think that Blair is going to choose Chuck. But Chuck is not going to want to be with Blair
ReplyDeleteBlair is a prostitute and must end alone
Ok yes Dan is a sweet guy and everything, but all this time, all these five seasons so she can just end up with Dan??? Yes Chuck made plenty of mistakes but at least he has matured enough to realize it and stay away from Blair and respect her in that even though it hurts him. Blair should just be alone for a while seriously!! She is not the strong Blair we used to know. Either she is the strong Blair that would sometimes clash with Chuck or weak under the shadow of Dan.
ReplyDeleteIt better be Chuck or GG is destined to be, once EPIC now forever BLAND
ReplyDeleteThe time he sold her for a hotel and didn't apologize to her. Put a dating fatwa on her. Tried to sabotage her academic career at Columbia. When he verbally and physically abused her.
ReplyDeleteIf you really think about it , Blair's been insecure the entire series, it was just magnified in the recent seasons. Remember when Serena came back? She was REALLY insecure. The guys aren't what make her insecure. Take last season's premiere. I do think she'll either end up alone or with Chuck. And I'm still not sure if Dan's really in love with Blair herself or the person he thinks she is. Neither Dan nor Chuck is perfect and I'm sick of people acting like Dan is some savior for Blair. Not all of C/B was bad only the later half of S3 and part of last season.
ReplyDeleteIf Blair chooses Chuck and Lily continues to be a despicable bitch, I say that Dan, Rufus, and Ivy should just make a joint decision to move to L.A. and tell the entire UES to go straight to hell. It would be the smartest decision anyone has ever made on this show.
ReplyDeletewhy's that?
ReplyDeletethe hotel was all jack's fault, i'm sorry but I forgive him for that. And He didn't verbally and physically abuse her.
ReplyDeleteFine with me.
ReplyDeleteThe Humphrey's have been presented as "good people", but Dan was a superior douchebag in the first three seasons and Rufus has always, since day one, been a slimeball.
On the whole, I'm Team Chuck here, but no - the hotel was not all Jack's fault. It wasn't really as simple as Chuck whoring his girlfriend out either. It was self-sabotage from a broken human being, and a horrible thing to do to the person you love.
ReplyDeleteBut the entire series has been a sort of redemption arc for Chuck. If he's done anything unforgivable, he did it in the pilot, and most fans forgave him for that by the seventh episode.
If the only real knock against Humphrey is his former air of superiority then he's still head and shoulders above the others and their heinous social crimes. As for Rufus being a slimeball - no. I don't know what cloud you pulled that nugget down from but no.
ReplyDeleteWho said anything about being "superior" was Dan's only knock? That's what made his personality unbearable, not a list of the crappy things he's done. This is the tool that cheated on his Girlfriend (also happened to be his best friend) with his step-sister, and then two episodes later made both of them feel shitty for not living up to his own personal standard. He basically spent the first two seasons slut-shaming his girlfriend, in-between getting hummers from Georgina Sparks.
ReplyDeleteHe's fruit from the same tree that gave us Dawson Leery and Brandon Walsh. He says and does stupid and awful things, and the writers give him a free pass. Which is very different from the Chuck's, who fall in the Pacey/Dylan space of characters who are always punished for their behavior, who go through character arcs that inform their redemption or further bad behavior. And that's so much easier to watch and relate to.
And Rufus. God. His wife is horrid, but he's the worst father ever. He's condescending, trite and he had the same unearned sense of smug self-righteousness that Dan had in the first few years. To top that off, he's bland. At least Penn interjects his character with some humor and self-deprication, Rufus is just a boring dick.
It's all relative, especially on this show. Any of this in comparison to any of the characters around them and both of these people still end up smelling like roses. In a show full of people who are some of the worst examples of humanity imaginable, there still has to be good and bad. Compared to everyone else, these two still land firmly in the former category. Furthermore, none of what you mentioned adds up to Rufus being a slimeball but all of it adds up to your glaring personal dislike of the character, which is fine. Rufus is really damn boring.
ReplyDelete"Which is very different from the Chuck's, who fall in the Pacey/Dylan
space of characters who are always punished for their behavior, who go
through character arcs that inform their redemption or further bad
behavior."
It has gotten to the point where all I can do is laugh when it comes to people preaching about Chuck and his "redemption." You don't get a trophy and an attaboy for not being as much of a dick as you used to be. The guy is still an amoral, scheming, whore-dependent, booze hound. The only difference between now and then is that he's dialed his lechery and depravity back from their formerly sociopathic levels.
Strangely enough, Chuck is the only thing the writers are doing right lately. They've found the character some balance and he's beginning to accept himself for who he is. I only wish the audience could do the same instead of continuing to pretend he is someone he's not.
I agree with Ryan. She's going to choose NEITHER. And then she will be reunited with Dan once she gains her independency back in season 6 :)
ReplyDeletei absolutely HATE DAIR.....i hope she ends up with chuck but ending up alone is way beter than her choosing to be with dan for the rest of her life...dan just needs to die :)
ReplyDeletei totally agree!!!!!! why would they even put all that drama between chuck and blair if they weren't going to end up together in the end...
ReplyDeletei hear ya sister
ReplyDeleteI thought blair ALREADY chose to be with Dan. It's true she didnt say she loved him yet. I know everyone wants her to have a burning passsionate reunion with Chuck so do I. I don't like Dan at all even when he was with serena.
ReplyDeletejust because they are have alot in common doesnt make them a good couple. chuck hurts her in so many ways so I don't know if they should ever be together even though they are meant to be.
ReplyDelete
