Ok, I'm gonna go to jump like crazy around the house now.

  25. I'm happy.... and relieved!!! Whew!

I'm also pretty happy FRINGE is renewed for 13 episodes only honestly. I have never been a fan of most FRINGE COTW episodes and with so much to work through and ends that need tying up, I'm sure it will be more myth arc centered episodes! HUZAAH!

  28. Man, FOX must have gotten one great deal on the licensing fees for the show lol.

But still, this is great news. Now all i hope for is that they end off strong and produce a season with very little filler that can focus on just the mythology of the show. and ill be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I hope it airs 13 episodes without a break

    ReplyDelete
  30. I will be sad if Anna and John are still Emmy-less by the end of season 5

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32.  I think the final 13 may just drop the case of the week format altogether.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I can hope!

Fringe is so much stronger on the whole when it is myth arc heavy... Sure there are incredible stand-alone episodes like White Tulip, but they are the exception and not the rule!

    ReplyDelete
  34.  Thank you Wazzao, that is really nice of you,and that means a lot to us!  :D

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's Thursday night and Fringe is Trending in the US and Worldwide..  #FringeRenewed  number 3 in 5 mins.

    ReplyDelete
  36. That was awesome, Thanks :0

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm happy but sad that it won't be 22 episodes.  The whole thing is going to be too short! :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. ZOMG ZOMG! I'm in a library studying and I accidentally ripped my headphones out of my laptop in my excitement. Everyone near me had some fun listening to Bon Jovi for a good 30 seconds.

Anyway, seriously, we need to take a moment to sincerely thank FOX for all that they have done to help Fringe fans. We may not be able to forgive them for Firefly, but I think that this goes a long way to show how committed FOX is to its truly rabid fanbase. Fringe S3 ended with pretty abysmal ratings and got a full 22 episode S4. S4 has dropped below 1.0 on occasion and STILL GOT A S5. Yes, I know that syndication was important in a S4 pickup and that licensing fees (and more syndication money) figured heavily into this S5 decision... but even so, I'm sure that not many other networks would have done this.

We also have to acknowledge that FOX is one of the few channels to consistently produce science fiction dramas (outside of SyFy of course). So, yeah, I for one am definitely done with the hate :).

  42. YES!! It's all we wanted. Happy and a litte sad (this is the end).

  43. γενικα το μπλογκ i meant ...

    ReplyDelete
  44. As Walter Bishop would say...."HOW DELIGHTFUL!"

Thanks to TPTB for giving us another 13 episodes to enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Wait, SyFY produces Science Fiction shows?
I thought it pseudo-paranormal mocku-dramas and reality TV shows....

    ReplyDelete
  46. The comments are more amusing than the news. I never got past the first season of Fringe because I'm already hooked on enough bubble shows. I might pick it up again once the final season airs and I can take it all in one hit.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'll just copy and paste my remarks from announcement promo post:

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XDSO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, FOX!!!!!!!!!!!!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcCS8AK6csg

    ReplyDelete
  48. I hope to get to see the alternate ending they shot for season 4 on the dvd

    ReplyDelete
  49. It feels good just to know we have a little further to go!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hahahahaha, yes, fair point. And most of their current dramas are like USA dramas with tech. Not that that's a bad thing... just that they tend to be more procedural than science fiction fans would probably enjoy.

Still, BSG and Caprica exist. SyFy can do things right occasionally :P.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Congrats to you guys! I know what this was like waiting to hear if Chuck would be renewed last year, and it looks like Fringe got the same treatment. It's sad it's only for 13 episodes, but I'm sure you guys are just happy you're getting this... I know I was!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I just mentioned something to the same effect - I remember how SUPER excited I was when they announced Chuck would be getting a shortened final season... it was sad, but the greatest news ever at the same time haha.. congrats, Fringe fans  :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I've only watched a few episodes here and there, but even I know that John Noble is brilliant in his role. I'll be rooting for him come Emmy season along with you guys  :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. I know... I just hate the network ever since they decided that SyFy was better a name than SciFi... Seriously?

I can enjoy "soft" SciFi like Eureka or Warehouse, but they are a far cry from real science fiction drama... And of course like you mentioned they are procedurals for the most part and therefore not as good as a rule! XD

I guess we still get third rate C-class movies like Aztec Rex, Dinocroc vs Supergator, Mansquito, Sharktopus..... and the upcoming Jersey Shore Shark Attack (I kid you not).

    ReplyDelete
  55. OUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII !

How sweet is it to see the words "Fringe", "official", "renewed" and "5th season" in the same sentence ?

This nice gesture will go down in history as THE unique sci-fi show FOX let grow for a few years ; they didn't murder Fringe quickly with a chainsaw but instead let it die peacefully of old age.

The show is ending on its own terms... well, I don't know if the writers wanted to end Fringe after 5 seasons, but at least they get a 13-episode final season, not many shows get to have such a proper send-off.

Plus, I like that it ends with 100 episodes ! Not 99, not 101 : 100. Me likey.

Okay, after FOX (Raising Hope & Fringe), it's NBC's turn now (Community + Parks and Rec + Awake). Honestly, with all that's been going on lately, I don't think Community and Parks and Rec are even bubble shows anymore, the logical thing to do is to renew it, so it's just a matter of how much NBC likes to make me worry (even though there's no reason to worry anymore). However I can't allow myself to have any hope for Awake, the show will get axed, having ratings like that in its first year is horrible.

Well, that's not the place to start mourning Awake, it's the place to celebrate the renewal of Fringe, so I'll conclude with a quote a great man once said out loud at 1:52 am (that's me, 11 minutes ago) : OH OUI PUTAIN !

    ReplyDelete
  56. That would be cool, but I bet they might have to save it for season 5 DVD, in case there were things mentioned or done in it that they don't want us to know yet!

    ReplyDelete
  57. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

    ReplyDelete
  58. This is the BEST NEWS EVER!! Seriously I had my doubts about there being a Season 4 and even then I always thought that it would be a 13-episode season, when they announced it would be 22 episodes I thought "bloody hell this has GOT to be it" and now Season 5! Yeah sure it's a 13-episode season but it'll mean it can go out on a much more exciting, concentrated, fast paced ending!

Even though they've said at the start of the show they'd ideally like 6 seasons in multiple interviews they've said that they've often moved stuff earlier etc, so I'm pretty sure that they've always kind of known when going into Season 4 that they wouldn't get a sixth season so I'm pretty sure they're ending the whole story where it's supposed to end and there's not really much else where the show could go.

That's what I'm hoping anyway, that they've managed to cram in all their plans for the show, especially with next season which is gonna be awesome! Loads of shows have much less than 5 seasons and for Fringe to make it it's a miracle. I kinda wish it coulda been picked up by Netflix and lasted a few more seasons but this seriously, hands down, is the best news ever and I just can't express how glad I am after last weeks episode that we're gonna get a Season 5 which can hopefully wrap up all the storylines nicely :D

    ReplyDelete
  59. I was thinking of that too....

I'm hoping that the finalternate (see what I did there?) will mostly be rendered moot since they will have more story to tell in Season 5.

All alternate wrap ups to storylines that will not come into play since we will have one more major story arc to deal with...... I hope.

I love me some Blu-Ray extras!
They taste like strawberry milkshakes sucked through a Twizzler to my mind.....

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yeah probably, As long as we get to see it anyway

    ReplyDelete
  61. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YESSSSSS!!!! THANK YOU FOX!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Definitely agree. White tulip was my favourite standalone episodes as well, it was unfortunate that almost all of them followed a very predictable and sometimes boring formula that didnt really change from one COTW episodes to the other. I mean i get why they wanted to do the procedural/serialized hybrid with Fringe, the problem is the gap in quality from the COTW episodes to the Myth arc heavy episodes are really really wide and it become more evident this season.

  63. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! So happy right now!! :D

  64. YAY - happy dancing right now!!! I'm so relieved and so happy that we'll get another season.

And even though it was inevitable, that last sentence about season 5 being the last makes me sad - it's been an awesome 4 years.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Thank you, Fox.

Now, if we could just have a little chat about Alcatraz...

    ReplyDelete
  66. I wondered earlier this season if a half season for Fringe could mean Alcatraz gets renewed for a late start AFTER Fringe completes its run. Either a full season so FOX has less reruns in that timeslot or a shortened season of 12- 16 episodes.....

    ReplyDelete
  67. I was thinking the same exact thing. Man, Chuck, Fringe, and Supernatural have always been so similar like this: low ratings, loyal fan bases, always on the bubble and barely getting renewed every season, etc. Of course, Supernatural is the lucky one since it's on the CW and they don't need decent ratings as much and Supernatural has survived longer as a result. I've never seen Fringe, but I'm glad you guys got a 5th season. I just hope they don't take a huge risk that ends up ruining everything in the finale like Chuck did. I did like the Chuck finale, but I also hated it. It was a great ending for everyone except Chuck & Sarah, which just happen to be the heart of the show. Destroying the current condition/state of the heart of your show, which everyone was happy with, and the 5 seasons leading up to it, which everyone was mostly happy with, just to be able to do a bunch of callbacks was a huge risk and a stupid one to take at that. That risk only works if you completely return things to the way they were before you destroyed them and make sure there's no doubt that they are totally restored by the end. And with Chuck, that didn't exactly happen. They almost totally restored things, but they ran out of time to finish restoring them and now it's over so they can't fix it. Good job. I am looking forward to the DVD since I've heard that it might have some stuff on it that will fix things. Anyway, I hope you Fringe fans have a good 5th and final season.

    ReplyDelete
  68. That makes a lot of sense if Fox did that. They wouldn't have to worry about a full season.

    ReplyDelete
  69. What a cool happydance! btw..whats his name?

Hell i forgot what your time is,sorry!

  70. Nicely said Bunky Bunk!    :)

  71. That is wonderful news. today fox does not suck.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Haha, that's okay! This was worth waking up for! Though I'm going to bed soon as it's almost 3am now. I need to get up in three hours. ;_;

    ReplyDelete
  73.  Lissie_Bee i guess i don't have to tell you what this means for all of us,you've been Chuck. Thanks that means a lot!  :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Thank you, FOX, for recognizing Fringe for its originality and brilliance - two aspects that cannot be found in too many television shows. The decision for a final, 13-episode season ensures an intense, well-calculated and satisfying finale to this amazing show.

Hopefully Gus will return for at least one episode.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Didn't i tell you no combining words! Shaking my fists at you!!!

    Actually i like finalernate,but strawberry milkshakes thru a twizzler..wow!

    ReplyDelete
  76.  I think the name change had to do with liscensing. They couldn't copyright SciFi but they could SyFy.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Ha!  I knew it!

    WEEEEEE!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  78. YES! Happier than I should be about a tv show! Just started posting on SpoilerTV, just to say WAHOO!!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Okay, so Fringe will have 100 episodes, It's beautiful even in it's synchronicity!

    ReplyDelete
  82. *I haz no Words for it!!!... Nope...
    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Just what we all thought.

Truly, I think Fox and WB are kind to do this for us.

    ReplyDelete
  84. The case of the week format has been tied more to the mytharc lately. So I appreciate that. But I agree that is not the best part of most any episode.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Thank God! My favorite show ever.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I just got home from an extra long day at work to hear this news.  Suddenly day is not so bad.  Awesome news!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I'm so happy right now. I have been packing my stuff up to make a 200 mile move for a new job all day, and was getting a little depressed thinking of how I'll be so far away from family, but this just brightened my day, or rather night!

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Some of you have heard this, but I just wanted to copy it here so maybe others can enjoy it too. My short ode to Fringe in music. http://goo.gl/zRYGn

    ReplyDelete
  88. I just can't believe it. Fringe fans should lick Fox Exec's balls forever. I don't recall a renewing for any other show with such crappy ratings.

Shows like Firefly, John Doe, and so on, all got axed without a doubt.
Guess that ratings don't matter any more, things have changed for good.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I don't so much mind the silly/campy combination animal movies. They're... fun. I just wish they would spend more time doing actual science fiction better lol.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Thank you FOX!!!!! that gives the producers enough time to make a satisfying ending :D

    ReplyDelete
  91. EXCUSE ME I AM ABOUT TO FREAK OUT

I KNEW IT WAS POSSIBLE, I KNEW IT, even when the ratings dipped dipped dipped I thought we would get a final season and we did and I kind of want to rub it in the faces of people who said we were mad for hoping that.

So damn happy about this, I am relived that we will get a proper ending and not just one that has to make do because it was cancelled

    ReplyDelete
  92. They changed the name to Syfy to reflect the fact that they aren't doing just Sci-Fi stuff anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Wow... Seasons 3-5 have been nothing but complete blessings when you consider the ratings, so this is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  94. After a positively CRAPPY couple of days this is just the kind of news to wake up to to make me believe that good things actually can happen.  A great big THANK YOU and a round of applause to everybody who made this happen.  And for helping me face the day with a smile on my face.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Yiiiippppeeeeee! I am so elated on this good news!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Oh hell yeah!!!!!!!  This is the greatest news I've had all week!

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'm very very happy, but the whole time I was hoping for 22 ep. silly me but still it's a awesome news :D. let's hope that they'll end it the way it deserves.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Thank you God, Fox and WB!!!!!!!! I'm so happy about this that I'm almost in tears!!!!!! This is going to be EPIC BEYOND ALL BELIEF!!!!!! I truly can't wait!!!!!:D

    ReplyDelete
  103. Fantastic news!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Damn, I'mma have to catch up on S4 then...

    ReplyDelete
  105.  Agreed! And hopefully it won't be a Lost type ending :S

    ReplyDelete
  106. Thank you Fox and WB. This takes a load of the nerves and makes the fall season worth looking forward to. 22 episodes and a possible season 6 would've been nice. But 13 episodes will be enough to finish a wonderful series. I'm happy as hell we got them.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I can't stop my smiling :D XD

    ReplyDelete
  108. YEEEEEESSSSSS! SO many feelings!

    ReplyDelete
  109. YAY!!! SO GLAD I WAS WRONG!
