After an exhaustive search that spanned multiple continents, French actress Lizzie Brocheré has won the pivotal new series regular role on the FX thriller, TVLine has learned exclusively.Last month, AHS producers put out a casting call for a femme fatale named Gia. Described as a fierce, ferocious, extremely sexual and dangerous wild-child sexpot, the character — billed as a nemesis for Jessica Lange — was likened to Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted.
According to an insider, Brocheré — known in France for her decidedly NC-17-rated film work — will be playing a revamped version of that role. “The part been changed considerably,” says the source, who declined to provide specifics of the revamp.

Interesting, never seen (or heard of to be honest) anything she's been in.
ReplyDeleteCasting an unknown is always good now, it means talent comes before name.
Lizzie Brocheré has also been in the final season of Les Bleus, which is, from what I hear, a really great series (it means The Rookies, this show ran from 2007 to 2010, it didn't get produced because of the canadian series launched in 2010... the concept of rookie cops is quite old anyway, but it seems to be especially popular nowadays with Les Bleus, Rookie Blue and NYC 22 starting next Sunday). Les Bleus was M6's last attempt at doing original scripted drama series, now they just aim at airing movies (nothing spectacular), procedurals (NCIS, Bones, H5O), cheap cooking, remodeling, housing shows. M6's only saving grace ? The Good Wife (which they air like butchers though, with 4 episodes in a row).
ReplyDeleteI've seen Tellement Proches (she was in that movie apparently, honestly I can't remember), a 2009 dramedy from Eric Toledano & Olivier Nakache, the writers/directors of two other great comedies : Nos Jours Heureux (= Our Happy Days) in 2006 and the smashing hit of 2011, Intouchables (19 million entries in France / $170 million (#2 most watched of all time here), it grossed a huge amount in Germany, too ($70 million), $300 million worldwide and The Weinstein Company will release it in the US soon).
I finished watching season 1 not so long ago and I have mixed feeling about it. It's definitely not as bad as I suspected it to be based on some reviews, but it was also tacky and pretentious at times, although I can't say that I was ever bored watching it, I will watch season 2. I'm glad Murphy is keeping Jessica Lange around.
Awesome!
ReplyDeleteSound really good.
ReplyDeleteOo, exciting. I just hope Ryan Murphy leaves this project before it becomes another Glee.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I'm glad they're not settling for conventional casting.
ReplyDeleteI suppose you have a point. Between Glee and Nip/Tuck, his shows aren't very strong finishers.
ReplyDeletei want Alexandra Breckenridge back. They should have casted her into this role. Who will play Jessica Lange's nemesis better than young Moira????
