I read this really quickly but is Modern Family missing?
ReplyDeleteWhere is Modern Family and some other ABC comedies? I think there's a mistake here. I'd really like to see Cougar Town nominated, i laugh so hard watching it, one of the best comedies for me.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that The River and Missing are submitting as mini-series...makes sense. But why no Modern Family, Happy Endings, Suburgatory, or The Middle in comedy series?!
ReplyDeleteJust read the source, it's produced by Fox so it's up to them to submit it.
ReplyDeleteWas gonna rant about the exclusion of 'Happy Endings' but the GoldDerby article in the link explains that shows like 'Happy Endings' and 'Modern Family' are handled by other studios and therefore will be nominated by them instead. Phew!
ReplyDeleteSupporting is always the hardest category because everyone is a scene stealer. And Best Actor/Actress always ends up with the same people nominated over and over again.
ReplyDeleteWhere can we vote
ReplyDeleteYou have to be a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. You need to be nominated, have at least two other present members back your application, have experience in your selected area of expertise, and then pay the yearly fee. I've been a member for about 15 years (television executives), so I get to vote. Note that last year, Castle had NO nominations (ABC decided to let the chips fall where they may, and as a result of the lack of network backing, Castle had NO nominations). At least this year they are more on the ball and have nominated many of their shows. We'll see. DVDs of shows are starting to appear in my mailbox "for my consideration", but mostly from HBO and CBS as of this date.
DeleteModern Family is produced by FOX Studios so it will be submitted by them ;)
ReplyDelete(just like ABC submitted Criminal Minds)
Hoping that Robert Carlyle, Sebastian Stan and any REVENGE submission will get a nomination!!
ReplyDeleteCastle definitely needs represented in the Emmys after this season, such a great cast that needs to be recognized for their hard work and dedication
ReplyDeleteSo many good entries. So nice to see Castle on the list. They really deserve the recognition. Revenge and Scandal get decent nods, also.
ReplyDeleteWhen do we hear who is chosen for the nominees?
Castle and Grey's should win one!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure any ABC nominees will have a shot of winning honestly... (or should).
ReplyDeleteMore than that though it annoys me that the ABC exec's nominated Cougar Town and some of its actors after treating the series so poorly this year!
I hope OUAT gets something.
ReplyDeleteI know the Emmys are blatantly against procedurals but GO CASTLE!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would love it if Castle got nominated for something but I know how these awards show work. Come emmys just give them at least on nominee to their name.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised Henry Ian Cusick didn't get a nomination.. But then again, perhaps his character did not get a prime role in any of the seven episodes.
ReplyDeleteHe's the only male lead on the show, so it makes sense that they would consider him a lead. Fingers crossed for OUaT, Lana and Robert, it's only the first season so if they even get a nomination I'll be happy this year. Congrats OUaT!
ReplyDeleteSo I take it they are cancelling The River and Missing then.
ReplyDeleteCastle needs to be nominated as everyone acts amazingly and the emotions always feel so very real I sometimes forget im watching the tv.
ReplyDelete*grumble* Jessy Schram should have gotten a submission (Once Upon A Time/Ashley/Cinderella)
ReplyDeleteWhen the heck are they gonna make a category for procedual dramas? I mean REALITY SHOWS get their own category! Something inane like Jersey Shore could end up winning a friggin Emmy, but procedural shows get screwed because they aren't "real" drama? O_O
ReplyDeleteThey should have submitted Miriam Shor GCB for Supporting Actress Comedy. And Lana Parrilla should have put under lead instead or supporting. She stole the show. She is the reason why people are still watching the show/getting good rating.
ReplyDeleteGood to see that BOP is up for nomination. That proves they still have hope in the show and may not cancel it next season.
ReplyDelete(Imagine... late September, they announce, body of proof XXX gets the award, and then XXX shows up and thanks everyone... And then say "F*** ABC for cancelling the show". That doesn't work too well.)
I like a lot of these shows and actors, but the only two I can really reconcile having nominations are Robert Carlyle for Once Upon a Time and Cougar Town in Best Comedy.
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't surprise me if Ashley Judd and Kerry Washington got nominations. Even though there haven't been many episodes of Scandal, TV LOVES movie people. On the same take there were several name guest stars that could get a nod also. I'm kind of hoping Jennifer Beals gets one for Castle -since the only way the Emmy's ever notice a procedural seems to be through guest star roles.
DeleteI notice that ABC didn't nominate anything for writing or tech categories. I wonder if those have to be handled by the individual shows?
ReplyDeleteI was glad to see they nominated Castle and Once Upon a Time for alot of stuff. :)
The reason they put Lana Parilla as supporting actress is because she's the third female lead. They did the same thing with Grey's (Sandra Oh was even the second lead)
ReplyDeleteI know it's so unfair that they give emmys only to cable shows. There are great shows on network tv and very talented actors who don't get a chance because they give the awards automatically to mad men and boardwalk empire. I tried watching those two shows and I was bored out of my mind...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, now I understand why they're all nominees from the same 5 or 6 shows
ReplyDeleteYeah Castle and Stana!!
ReplyDeleteso does this mean that missing is cancelled??
ReplyDeleteNothing official has been announced.
ReplyDeleteWow! There's a lot of people and series that I love, way too hard to choose;) So I wish them all luck!
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree she is amazing but the fact is she is the third female lead. Its not a slight on Lana or anything like that. She is up for a Saturn Award as best supporting actress as well. And think about it at least she is not in competition with Jennifer and Ginnifer.
ReplyDeleteMy fingers crossed for Lana Parrilla, she would deserve it.
ReplyDeleteI'm seriously surprised Miriam Shor didn't get a submission. She's the only reason I'm watching GCB. Parrilla is a lead to me too, but submitting her as supporting betters her chances of getting at least a nomination out of it. Female lead is gonna be a very crowded category and I'm not sure OUAT's gonna stand a chance. Although Goodwin very much deserves it.
ReplyDeleteno any series with less than a certain number of episodes per season qualifies for the mini series category and missing was only 10 episodes season less than 12/13
ReplyDeleteYay for the OUAT cast!
ReplyDeleteRealistically I only see OUAT submission really having a chance.
ReplyDeleteUUuummm... Best comedy supporting actress: Busy Phillips (Cougar Town)?
ReplyDeleteAnd nothing for the men either? Especially Dan!
And what about the guys over at GCB? I mean Blake and Ripp specifically are just as memorable as (and sometimes even funnier than) any of the ladies!!!! Mark Deklin and David James Elliot are being sold short here!
You mean to tell me they're not even giving any of them a chance? Ugh!!!!
Over to the things done right: Really crossing my fingers for Sebastian Stan to make the final cut!!! He was brilliant!!!!!
Castle ! Stana Katic! Nathan Fillion! Jon Huertas ! Seamus Dever! Tamala Jones! Susan Sullivan! Molly Quinn! VOTE FOR CASTLE ! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm a member of the TV Academy and I always do! My favorite show.
Deleterobert carlyle is great in once upon a time for me he's the best character on tv right now !!!
ReplyDeleteOUAT and Revenge deserve ALL the emmys.
ReplyDeleteI hate to say this, I love Castle but honestly it's one of those shows that just won't ever win awards like Emmy's, SAG's and Golden Globes.
ReplyDeleteReally? Wow i can't believe some of these people were even nominated...and i didn't know they considered Missing a mini series.
ReplyDeleteFrom this list, my favorites are: Robert Carlyle, Lana Parilla, Susan Sullivan, and Jimmy Kimmel Live (the only watchable late-night talk show).
ReplyDeleteI believe too, that Parilla stands a better chance. Anyway, we all know that Claire Danes is gonna win, since these awards are all about cable shows now. Sometimes, it feels like they don't even watch the shows on the network before deciding. And I think Goodwin have been really great balancing the two roles (Snow White, MM)
ReplyDeleteLOL. please tell me you're joking. Not saying Jessy Schram is a bad actress or anything but she obviously didn't manage to make most people care about her character (and to be fair the writing for Cinderella/Ashley was crap) at all compared to Emilie de Ravin's Belle or Sebastian Stans's Mad Hatter. There is no buss about her character at all and most of the fandom seem to be content to never see her again.
ReplyDeleteAll Once Upon a Time CAST is amazing...that's why the show is so GREAT!!!
ReplyDeleteCastle *_*
ReplyDeleteLoretta Devine won Outstanding Guest Actress last year for Grey's Anatomy and she is certain to be nominated this year again. Sandra Oh has been putting out Emmy-worthy material for the entire season of Greys.
ReplyDeletewill Courteney Cox FINALLY earn her well-deserved (and looong overdue) Emmy nod this year??
ReplyDeleteCrossing all my fingers for her, CHrista and Cougar Town...but...where's Busy Philipps???
*fingers crossed for Once Upon a Time; I honestly think Robert Carlyle deserves the nomination AND the award
ReplyDeleteMarcia Cross deserves a nomination I am dead serious it's be 8 years in the making and if she doesn't get nominated for this great last season she had I will scream. I would love for Kristin chenoweth to get nominated as well as the cast and the cast of OUAT.
ReplyDeleteIt surprises me that Lana is in Supporting while Jennifer and Ginnifer are in Lead. ;/ If anything, they should all be put into the supporting category.
ReplyDeleteI'll be happy if she just gets nominated, because I friggin' love that woman and her character, but I don't think they've given her enough material this season to really showcase her. She's had enough to let us know that she's a fantastic actress, but I don't think it's quite enough for a win *shaking my fist at the writers*. Hopefully enough for some recognition, though. Robert, on the other hand, has had PLENTY of amazing scenes, the writers clearly love his character, so I've really got my fingers crossed that he wins (If only I had a magic wand and could make them both win *sigh*). Hopefully Lana's dedicate and vocal fan base will convince the powers that be to at least give her a nomination, if not a win :) And then she can be a guest on Ellen and my life will be complete ^.^
ReplyDeleteI kind of questioned Josh Dallas as a lead, too - I think Robert Carlyle is incredibly deserving of the category, though. He's absolutely fantastic every week.
ReplyDeleteVery true! Lana has a better chance of getting an actual nomination if she is in Supporting. (And I do not think Jennifer and Ginnifer will get an nomination. It's gonna be Revenge's world if ABC is getting any female drama lead nomination.)
ReplyDeleteMiriam Shor is the only reason I watch GCB too! She and Mark (Cricket and Blake) did a great job keeping me on ABC. I am waiting to see the baby drama between those two! I even make a "gay boyfriend" fan video.
And @LanaParrilla will always be be a lead in my heart. (and she can rip it out. I won't mind.)
ReplyDeleteModern Family is produced by Fox Studios, who will handle its campaign. If you notice, ABC is handling the campaign for Criminal Minds under Drama. That's because ABC produces it for CBS.
ReplyDeleteThat's what i thought, but i got confused when i saw SCANDAL as a series and it has less episodes than missing.
ReplyDeleteThanks though!!
Since Madeleine Stowe (Revenge) was nominated at the Golden Globes this year, chances are she might be nominated for an Emmy too. And maybe it will draw the attention of the Academy Members for the show as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd a nod to Castle would be great too. I'm still waiting for Stana Katic to finally get the recognition she deserves, at least by a simple nomination. Want proof of her brilliant acting skills? Watch the episode Kill Shot! ;)
Grey's Anatomy rules! :D
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me why Patrick Dempsey ( Grey's Anatomy ) is listed as 'Best Drama Supporting Actor' instead of 'Best Drama Actor' ??
I'm surprised by the Cougar Town entries - where is Busy Phillips and why are none of the men entered? Considering there are no other comedy actor entries it seems strange. Anyways...I'm really hoping Courtney Cox gets a nomination - she's way overdue!
ReplyDeleteim all about this list yea buddy!!
ReplyDeleteWow, that IS weird... he's definitely a main actor on this show.
ReplyDeleteHe's not though. Robert is much more 'lead' than Josh.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they nominated Ellen Pompeo this time around, I really think she deserves some credit for her acting/role in GA. After all without her it wouldn't be as successfull!
ReplyDeleteIt's about dang time for Castle! Woohoo!
ReplyDeletewill hold my fingers crossed for Christa Miller!!! She deserves the Emmy for all her years on TV. Also the same for Courtney and CT. The list is pretty odd, by the way...So many actors and shows were snubbed...
ReplyDelete
