Why do (almost) every damn TV star wind up leaving after 5-7 years? I mean, getting a major TV acting job is something that a lot of people wish for, and it seems like they are just... "meh"...
Really I was pretty much on the fence about watching the next season if Alec leaves I'm definitely out, one of the few bright spots left in a show which has really fallen from grace.
Yeah, I think Alec has a bigger career than most tv stars. He can land all kinds of movie gigs. Maybe he's ready to get back to it. Maybe he's getting bored with the show. I can't blame him.
Despite the message below from Jenni Lou, sir, I have determined, by sheer force of extensive detective work (actually, following some links), and despite avatar and name, that in actually, you, sir, ARE FEMALE! I'm right, aren't I?
Hahha I am female! Its only in recent months that I realised Lou whilst common as a girls name in the UK is often seen as a male name in other countries especially like the US . I don't mind being called Sir though it has an air of authority hahaha
Ha, thanks for investigating, Lin, I thought Lou was a man, too :p. When I think of "Lou" I admit I think of male first, so that + the avatar of Walter + the fact that she watches shows like Justified, Breaking Bad and Southland (I don't know any girl that watches these shows (I wish I did)) led me to think of Lou as a "he", too. Mystery uncovered !
We should do a thread where we would all post basic information about ourselves (gender, age, country, reason why we chose the pseudonym we have here, etc) DarkUFO would update that in the opening message, and we could acess it any time iin the "features" section.
About Alec Baldwin, if he's gone there's no 30 Rock. He and Tina Fey have to be on the show until the end, unlike a show like The Office (the show can survive without Steve Carell, but season 8 has proven that it's definitely not as good though). A while ago he said that season 6 would be his last, but he has renewed his contract recently, if there's a seventh season he's in it, he has to. That 'announcement' doesn't make any sense. I wouldn't think of that short tweet as anything important.
Great idea! BTW, I chose my pseudonym because it goes with the one Lost-related picture I had in my files, jungle-hair Claire (Lost episode: Lighthouse). I'll see if I can figure out how to put up a tagline with some bio.
About 30 Rock, I loved it until I just had too much to watch on Thursdays, so I let it go. For the last two years I've only watched from time to time. If he goes, they'll still have Tina, but they'll have to find someone amazing to replace him or else forget it.
You should give 30 Rock another try, because in my opinion, season 5 is the best season of the show since season 2. Seasons 3 and 4 were disappointing while the next one really felt like an improvement to me. Season 6 is great, too. There's no chance it'll overshadow Community or Parks and Rec, but I definitely always have a laugh every week.
The relationship between Jack/Liz is at the core of the show to me, if Baldwin goes they'll never be able to get a good replacement, no matter how talented that person might be. The Office, with its 17 central characters, can keep going without Michael Scott, but I doubt 30 Rock would recover from losing Jacky D.
Cool pseudonym. The Temple episodes of early season 6 are not my favorite of the season, but I remember Lighthouse and the scenes with Claire were better than the rest. I've always liked her relationship with Charlie.
Mine comes from a line Jimmy McNulty (Dominic West) said in episode 5.01 of The Wire (my favourite show ever) : "Hey, Bunky Bunk, come here, you virile beast". I thought it sounded funny, and I've always liked Bunk Moreland (Wendell Pierce), so I chose that. It's totally unrelated to my avatars — I sported a few Walter White (Breaking Bad) avatars for a while until this current Evil Abed avatar, which I said I wouldn't take off until NBC renews Community for S4. I already have my next avatar ready, here it is (I trust no one will suddently have that one tomorrow) : http://uppix.net/1/3/5/8b93cc7d283b7734dc9df72e19819.png (maybe now people will think I'm a lady, too).

So true. I would stop watching if they carried on without AB. The Jack/Liz relationship is the main reason that I continue watching and is the absolute heart of the show.

If it's true it's really bad of him to write it on Twitter. Tina Fey would have wanted to make that announcement... oh well. I would be really sad if 30 Rock ended.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Hasn't this been known for awhile?
ReplyDeleteWhy do (almost) every damn TV star wind up leaving after 5-7 years? I mean, getting a major TV acting job is something that a lot of people wish for, and it seems like they are just... "meh"...
ReplyDeleteTV Actors think that after they had a tv gig that they will become the next steve carell und be a major movie star
ReplyDeleteWell, Alec is more a movie star than a TV star.
ReplyDeleteI thought he was suppose to be leaving for a while and then decided to sign a contract.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this will help Community get another season.
Really I was pretty much on the fence about watching the next season if Alec leaves I'm definitely out, one of the few bright spots left in a show which has really fallen from grace.
ReplyDeleteI'm quite sure i've known this ever since the fifth season ended.....

ReplyDeleteWell said, sir.

ReplyDeleteHas it? Must have missed it. Do you have a link or something you could point me to?
ReplyDeleteIF that is what Baldwin is referring to, he seems to blow that whistle every couple of seasons. He's the Baldwin who cried wolf.
ReplyDeleteWell, alrighty then, Sir. Or, uh, ma'am.:)

ReplyDeleteOooo, that's one I would like!

I swear I read something a few months back like that, but am having trouble remembering where.
ReplyDeleteAlec Baldwin is a movie star... xD
