A month after casting David Morrissey as iconic Big Bad The Governor, AMC's The Walking Dead has cast Treme's Danai Gurira as Michonne, the legendary heroine from the Robert Kirkman comic series on which the zombie drama is based.

     Kirkman said she made her first appearance in the finale, so she's been cast for a while.  They just did an amazing job of keeping such HUGE casting a secret in the Internet age.

     He said in an interview that they used a stand-in for Michonne's appearance in the finale because they had not cast her yet.

    Can't say much about her. Only know her from Treme where she played Delmond's New York girlfriend and that was a rather small role. Hope she can live up to the role.
