Shot opens in Atlanta: a group of walkers are feasting on what looks like Rick's horse, or what's left of it, when they're startled by the sound of a helicopter flying overhead. The horde migrates over several days, weeks, a great distance, and eventually comes to a fence. The fence bows and breaks under the relentless forward motion of the walkers. The herd presses on. Wandering aimlessly in the forest, the walkers turn as a gunshot goes off like a beacon, leading them to dinner. Soon they are closing in on Rick and Carl, as they leave the scene of Shane's murder.
Daryl and Glenn arrive back at the farmhouse. They explain that they heard a gunshot, and share their confounding findings about Randall.
As they walk back to the house, Carl asks Rick about what happened to Shane. Soon after, they notice the walkers bearing down on them, and it's not long before they are overtaken and have to make a run for the barn. Back at the house, the rest of the survivors are just figuring out that Carl is missing and walkers are approaching. Lori is panicking. Hershel passes out the guns.
The horde is making quick work of the barn. Rick dumps gasoline everywhere, busts open the door to lure the zombies inside, and climbs up to the loft with Carl. Carl drops a lighter into the gasoline-soaked hay, igniting everything in sight. Meanwhile, the men and Andrea shoot from their cars in a futile attempt to corral the herd and buy time.
Finally, Daryl figures out that Rick and Carl must be in the barn, and instructs Jimmy to drive the RV to the barn to rescue them. Rick and Carl manage to barely escape, while Jimmy is devoured inside the RV. Blood is everywhere, coating the windshield.
The survivors are starting to run out of ammo. The horde is too large. The women hold hands and make a run for it as Hershel makes a last stand for the farmhouse. They are just about clear when Patricia is attacked from the side and is devoured while Beth is still holding onto her.
Carol is headed off by a few walkers and backed into a corner with nothing but a plank of wood to defend herself. Andrea saves her but is attacked from behind and gets pinned under a walker. T-dog pulls his car around, but quickly has to leave the scene with Beth and Lori before the car is overtaken.
Glenn tells Maggie that the farm is lost; they have to get off the farm, now. Hershel comes to the same realization, almost too late, as a walker sneaks up from behind. Rick saves Herschel and they along with Carl head out in their own direction. Glenn and Maggie take off as well. Daryl finds Carol about to collapse from running, and they speed off together on Daryl's motorcycle. Andrea is abandoned. The barn collapses into the flames. And we're not even halfway done.
The group is now scattered. Glenn and Maggie switch places in the car as Maggie breaks down and can't continue driving. Glenn says they need to make their way to the highway, but Maggie protests that the herd came from that direction. Glenn finally tells Maggie that he loves her.
Rick, Carl, and Hershel arrive at the highway, where they left the care package for Sophia, hoping that the others will think to rendezvous here. Hershel is ready to part ways, but Rick wants to stick together.
Lori and T-Dog argue over where to drive. T-Dog wants to head to the coast, but Lori threatens to jump out of the car if he doesn't turn around and go back to the highway.
A walker appears on the highway. Rick is about to give up on waiting any longer, but… in the nick of time, the other survivors arrive. Time for a head count:
Shane - dead
Andrea - missing
Patricia - taken by the walkers
Jimmy - splattered all over the RV
Meanwhile, Andrea is running for her life in the woods, but the walkers pursue her tirelessly. She can't keep this up for long. Walkers are emerging from the trees in random directions as Andrea shoots to clear a path.
The survivors leave the highway, pushing onward, but soon run out of gas. Several people start to panic and are on the verge of giving up. Rick tries to pull everyone together. The conversation turns to Randall and Shane. Rick has to come clean. He reveals that the secret Jenner whispered to him at the CDC was that everyone is a carrier of the infection. The group is not happy that Rick has kept this from them.
Lori and Rick talk privately. Rick tells her what went down with Shane, and confesses that it wasn't just self-defense… he wanted Shane dead, he was tired of Shane dogging him and acting like Rick stole Lori and Carl from him. Lori freaks out when she finds out Carl's role in Shane's death and withdraws from Rick, refusing to let him touch her.
Andrea is exhausted. This is the end of the line. She can't carry her gun-bag any longer, her pistol is out of ammo -- she bashes in a walker's head with it -- now she's down to knives, another walker practically on top of her… enter Michonne to save Andrea at the last minute, towing two armless walkers in chains, samurai sword in hand.
The rest of the survivors set up camp in the middle of nowhere. They may have found each other again amid the chaos, but the group is still broken. Many are ready to run off into the dark and leave Rick behind, fend for themselves. They are on the verge of splitting up again, when Rick takes back control... he says they're not going anywhere; he killed his best friend for them. This isn't a democracy anymore.
The camera pans up… in the distance looms a prison facility.
End of Season 2.

wow! WOW! i should not have read that... that was just amazing to read
ReplyDeleteAlright! We're going to the prison next season!
ReplyDeleteThat was amazing! I can't WAIT til Sunday :)
ReplyDeletecan't wait least we know rick really did hear a chopper over head
ReplyDeleteOk, I'll read this next Monday. I'm getting enough info just from reading the comments.
ReplyDeleteThe next 6 months are going to be horrendously long...
ReplyDelete:)))))))))) my eyes are going boingde boing boing boing outta my head!!
ReplyDeletesounds good!, did we ever find out who was casted to play Michonne? she sounds awesome
ReplyDeleteI've heard rumours that she's only seen from behind so they might not have cast anyone yet
ReplyDeleteRutina Wesley
ReplyDeleteand no way they wont show her face shes guna fuck up lots O' zombies n save andreas ass
ReplyDeleteCrazy that the horde of zombies are the same ones from Atlanta. HA.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteomfg! i didnt think they would find the prison... but the show is definatley catching up with the comic, thats the best thing
ReplyDeleteAGHHHH!!! I really want to read this but I read the ones for the last two episodes. I don't want the finale spoiled for me, but idk if I'll be able to resist looking at this for a whole week! :(
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome stuff. This is what Jenner whispered to Rick at the CDC! Everyone is already infected and dying only expedites the zombification. Think about it...had Darryl not shot Dale in the head to put him out of his misery, Dale would've came back as a zombie!
ReplyDeletethats only a rumour, theres been no confirmation yet as to who's playing her
ReplyDeletethat would be awesome if it was her, but yeah it sucks that such a big role has not been cast yet.. and it would suck if we only do see a shadow of her
ReplyDeleteMichonne! ...save the best for last !
ReplyDeleteWhat a great spoiler. F it. I can't wait to see this for my self.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I gave in and read it...Not disappointed though :)
ReplyDeleteWHY DO I READ THIS STUFF
ReplyDeleteMICHONNE!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey've shown major characters in silhouette or shadow and so forth before a major actor was cast. I sense they're still looking because if they fuck up the casting of Michonne, they might lose some of the comic book fans.
ReplyDeleteHow do I read it
ReplyDeleteGood point, but since that dipshit who was casted as one of Michonne's pets says he is in the finale I can almost bet well get to see her.
ReplyDeleteOkay so I feel like I am the ONLY person who has noticed this but Daryl can't be a TV exclusive character, they just gave the comic book character a new name. In accordance with the comic he is actually Tyrese (in my opinion). I know Tyrese is a comic favorite but tell me Daryl is in your top 2 or 3 characters now. The dead giveaway is the relationship that is brewing with Carol, similar to the one Tyrese and her had. Plus, Rick likes Daryl as his Tyrese-esque wing man
ReplyDeleteRick always had a certain dynamic with his number 2 though Tyreese, abraham (If i am remembering the name correctly), Daryl.. Daryl is filling in as a wingman but I think he will die eventually.. close to the end of the next season in a Tyreese-esque kinda way. Plus a Michonne & Daryl relationship would be weird
ReplyDeleteMan I can't wait for this episode.
ReplyDeleteread that Kirkman is thinking of introducing Daryl in the next few issues of the comic
ReplyDelete.
http://io9.com/5890362/daryl-dixon-may-bring-his-crossbow-to-the-walking-dead-comics
They better bloody not kill Daryl!
ReplyDeleteYeah, he teased a comic cover with the torso of a character bearing a resemblance to Daryl and toting a crossbow. I think it might've been alternate artwork for 98 or 99.
ReplyDeleteDaryl seems more willing to defer to Rick's decisions than Tyrese ever was, too. Abraham (you got his name right, he's one of my faves, too) was a little quicker to butt heads, mostly because of all the crap he'd been through prior to meeting up with Rick's group. And he was in the same position - a leader responsible for the lives of his group.
ReplyDeleteshes already been casted but amc is keeping it a secret to create suspense for fans since her character is so important. she appears next sunday in the finale
ReplyDeletehahaha thank god hes that dumb
ReplyDeletemy biggest prediction of the show is that everyone in the group is infected and rick is already DEAD. remember shane did not hear a heartbeat when the machines powered off. now his hear rate could possibly just be dangerously low but chances are he died when the machines failed. rick went days possibly weeks without water. he also didn't have his bandages changed risking infections that could have easily killed him.
ReplyDeletei cant wait for the governor! holy hell is he gonna be good. and by the way when rick was talking to shane about dropping randall off at senoia, georgia. theres significance there because thats the location of woodbury and the governor so in a way shane saved ricks life by killing randall so rick couldn't go through with his plan.
ReplyDeleteIt's been confirmed by one of the admins at SpoilTheDead (where the leaked summary, among other things, came from) that Michonne HAS NOT been cast yet and that she's played by a stand-in in the finale (her face will be hidden by a cloak that she wears)
ReplyDeleteglad we get to see michonne in action and saving one of the best characters of the show.
ReplyDeleteMichonne!!! Yes!!! Finally!!
ReplyDeleteYes!!! Michonne!! I really tried to not to read the spoiler, but I couldn't help it. It isn't going to make a difference though, watching it is still exciting! I KNEW that had to be the secret...So sad the season is ending, but can't wait for season 3! The "new" characters are going to bring sooo much more to this show!
ReplyDeleteThis ep sounds really exciting! Though just from reading this I have a feeling Lori is going to annoy me again... I was kinda hoping they'd kill her off. Her and Carol since she's a waste of a character IMO. Hopefully T-Dog gets more lines next season also, he's a really underused character. It doesn't look like there were any surprising deaths, I figured most of Hershel's family would be killed. I'm guessing Beth might get killed next season once they get to the prison... kinda like in the comic with the 2 younger daughters of Hershel.
ReplyDeleteNO i would be so pissed if they killed Daryl
ReplyDeleteIt appeared as though he might've just gone a day or two without water. Rick did look like hell when he woke up, sporting the outward signs of dehydration. I haven't seen the ep where Morgan and his son found him, but I do remember Morgan taking care of the wound and giving Rick food and water.
ReplyDeleteThis is stupid. Like, really stupid. The comics came before the TV show so, in the event of anyone's name being changed, it would be Tyrese who was renamed Daryl. Secondly, the author of the comics is almost certainly introducing Daryl into the comics because he's so popular - if both characters are present in the comic that totally cancels out your theory. And lastly, its quite possible that the writers of the TV show are going to replace Tyrese's role with Daryl and not introduce him at all since, as someone else said, he's far more accepting of Rick's decisions which is kind of what the group needs, not someone who argues with him. Daryl is one of the most important characters in the show, a role which will be startling different from his comic counterpart, and he's his own character. He doesn't need to be the alternate version of some black guy, he can stand on his own.
ReplyDeleteThis is a bad prediction. Also, you're over estimating how long Rick was left alone for. It was only a few days, the reason why Shane didn't hear a heartbeat was because, oh, I dunno', all the gun shots and yelling going on in the background and finally the gun shot wound was for the most part healed. The only reason he was still in the hospital was because he was in a coma, the bandages were likely only there to keep germs off the fresh scab, so to speak, not because the wound was still open or anything like that.
ReplyDeleteThats the same episode!
ReplyDeleteHopefully they'll follow the comic on this one. Remember the chopper was how we were introducd to the govenor
ReplyDeleteAgree with everything you said lol.
ReplyDeleteI have the same hypothesis about Beth because of the comics. Too bad Lori's demise probably wont come like the way it was in the comics. Although, her and the baby's death would make for an epic season finale after the assault on the prison
ReplyDeleteOn this note, remember when they showed the preview for the previous episode? T-Dog said "The governor called, you're off the hook" when he went to go get Randall. I got so psyched only to be upset that T-Dog was just referring to Rick as the governor.
ReplyDeleteI think you contradicted yourself a few times there champ but nonetheless Daryl clearly is "taking the place" of Tyrese. Maybe I just made my point unclear with improper wording. Also, Daryl has never been anything but a rebel really so I see some Tyrese in him. He has some compassion to him but at the same time he still has that "i dont give a fuck" attitude
ReplyDeleteSee I've been thinking that Jenner told Rick exactly what you think, that he is already dead. But, alas, we now know what he said. I still think this isnt a bad theory though
ReplyDeletepretty sure Shane looked at the heart rate monitor and there was no activity whatsoever so there is merit to this theory
ReplyDeleteThe Governor is in season 3. It's already been confirmed.
ReplyDeleteOmg, yes it would lol. Yeah, I don't know though if they would have it like that... might be a little too dramatic for tv.
ReplyDeleteI get what you're saying with your theory about Rick and him already being dead, but I doubt Mazzara and co. would've considered it. Hell, Maz stated in a Q & A they wouldn't show the initial outbreak of the virus/whatever, because he and Kirkman think it would make the show "too sci-fi".
ReplyDeleteIt could be interesting if it was a double sided comment or a bit of foreshadowing, if Randall's group does turn out to be the Governor's crew.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Sunday today, but it turns out it's only Saturday. Bah. More waiting for that epic finale. :<
ReplyDeleteHaha, I did the same thing. I stayed home Friday and that messed everything up. I woke up yesterday thinking it was Saturday, and was excited to wake up today, which I thought was Sunday, and watch the finale lol. Oh well
ReplyDeleteHell yes. Shooting the Philly dudes and killing Randall? More fuel on the Governor'sWoodbury fire.
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think so. There are too many biological problems with that which cannot be overlooked. If his heart wasn't beating, we'd know it. His body isn't decaying like a walker. He gets exhaused (like when he was about to collapse with Carl in his hands), his face gets flushed when he cries or has strong emotions, his skin isn't cold to the touch, and Lori has laid her ear right on his chest. She'd notice if there was no heartbeat. Just the fact that he runs like he does disproves this theory, because he's getting blood to his limbs. And he's eating, which means his digestive track is working properly. His body isn't getting stiff or decaying - he's alive and human. Shane didn't hear a heartbeat for all the guns and such (and he probably didn't WANT to hear a heartbeat, which may have contributed). Plus, if his heart wasn't pumping and there was no blood circulating through his body, Walker's wouldn't attack him and he wouldn't bleed or bruise so badly when his body was beaten (like by Shane). The only thing going for this theory is the fact that is SEEMS like Rick laid there without care for hours, but this would be easier explained in other ways, such as the nurse we saw on the ground, half eaten. Maybe she stayed behind and was making like a last stand or something, taking care of the patients before she was eaten. I can see her going from room to room, checking the empty halls, making it to Rick's room, changing his fluids, sneaking out just as a Walker sees her. She pushes the bed back in front of his door and runs through as set of doors, but is caught and devoured. Who knows, maybe Rick only went without for a week or so. lol :)
ReplyDeleteOh. my. god.
ReplyDeleteOhh noo
