If it were just a regular episode I would think the title "Get Dick" is hilarious, but this is a season (and quite possibly a series) finale, you would hope that the writers would take it seriously. I mean think back to old finale titles "No Rest for the Wicked", "The Man Who Knew Too much" etc... Supernatural use to derive their titles from reverent classic songs, now they are utilizing lame jokes...its sad really
Hate to say it, but I have to agree. I like 22's name, but 23's is.. going too far. Its not funny, its just vulgar. Like a bad romance novel title. Plus, if it /is/ somehow the series finale.. who wants to tell people to buy 7 seasons of show where the very last episode is.. Get Dick? Sigh.
And, we're not even guaranteed that they're going to 'down' Dick Roman.Title means nothing. So yeah.. lame.
I know! This season has been too tongue in cheek and referential with it's episode naming. I mean, some of them are hilarious, most of them, but they are just too many.
In previous seasons, even if the name was kind of silly, it felt, dunno, right, like it meshed with the whiplash humor of the show, like it was a reflection. This season has just been "for the lulz". I dunno, it's like they are not taking it seriously anymore!
I kinda like "There will be blood" as 7X22 cause it kinda calls back to "Let it Bleed" 6x21, even if its too referential :/
"There Will Be Blood" -- CLASSIC. "Get Dick" -- WTF people? It's funny here and there in context, but at least if you're going that route, make it like an episode of Dexter and add the last name or something.
Yes the first title is good but the "Dick" joke isn't even funny any more. Even the actors are probably tired of making it sound funny in their lines. It has been overused in the episodes. They didn't have to put in in finale episode too!
They could have gone with "There Will Be Blood" and then called 7.23 "Sweat and Tears." :)
I'm hoping that there will be a last minute change and Get Dick will be named something else. It is funny but as the title of a season finale or god forbid a series finale? Well I'm rooting for a S8 JUST so Supernatural doesn't end up with such a moronic series finale title...
The Dick jokes are a little lame as a SL so why give it top billing as a episode title. Not funny!
I really thought the 'Get Dick' was a joke, but it is the official title for the season finale? Look, I love the sometimes slighty homoerotic subtext in Supernatural, but this is no subtext anymore. Besides, season finales are kind of a big deal.... a bigger deal than using an over-used kind of lame joke.
"There will be blood": famous AC/DC's song. Love this title. I just hope it won't be Sam's or Dean's blood. "Get Dick": OK, why not XD. It's weird when you don't know the show but if you know Dick Roman....:D
At least Get Dick is short and won't have to be abbreviated into some long acronym that I'll never recognize later when someone else posts it. We can just refer to it as the Dick episode.
@_Csilla_ there is a 23rd episode this year but the title has not been even discussed yet...
Spn producer Jim Michael twited that they don't have a title yet, so "Get Dick" is probably just someone trying to be funny or a temporary working title that will be changed.
Like the titles. I agree, Dean has his reasons for revenge. I wonder, though, how will Sam be by the end of the season? I cannot wait for the new episodes starting next week! Any word on Jen and Jared's baby? The big day is approaching very quickly it seems.
The fact that you're taking the title too serious is laughable. It doesn't have to sound 'epic' just because it's a finale. To think the finale titles should always have an 'epic' sound to them is actually just plain ridiculous.
I'm sorry, I didn't knew that you had a mayor on "Episode Naming Protocols", I mean, it's the only reason to summon so many shoulda's and have to's and be so derisive of people's opinions, cause you know how it HAS to be, right?
Sarcasm aside, Thomas, do not bother me with your asinine snobiness again, I hadn't seen such an inflated ego since the Kardashian's thought they had talent.
Hahaha, I am betting that you think you've just won this argument by comparing my ego to a Kardashian's talent? Yah, because THAT would definitely hurt my feelings. No, sorry, but your snobiness of thinking these finale titles should have a better meaning or a more "epic" sound shows that you are just plainly an idiot. It's just a title and nothing for you to complain about. Sorry, "MeatyStakes", but your post just shows your ignorance when you decide to complain about a damn title.
SpoilerTV once had class, once in a time when people didn't moan and groan so freaking much. I miss those days.
Whoa, those undergarments really bunched in your butt crack.
So you call me ignorant and and idiot, and then insult the Spoiler TV community as a whole, citing the golden day.
What a classy act you are Thomas.
Oh, and I still fail to see how disliking the title makes me an idiot; are you even using logic to make this assessments or are just pulling them from your, panty tangled, arsehole?
And I think I disrespected the Kardashians with that comparison, so my humble apologies to them.
Lol. Your posts are simply amazing. I needed a great laugh after my night shift, so I do applaud you.
Simply put, yes, it is quite ignorant to complain about "Get Dick" as not being 'epic' enough or supposedly too 'vulgar'. Maybe just step down on your high horse if you think that.
Talking about my butt crack, my arsehole, bringing up a Kardashian....something tells me you have a fetish.
No way the Leviathans are finished this season. No way. I've been shocked by Supernatural before but that would be an epic writing fail of the worst kind. I think they are making the Leviathans like Yellow Eyes, a 2 season mytharc. I find this good news because the Leviathans haven't had enough screen time for me to consider them as big and bad as the show is making them out to be. With any luck, the season will end with Dean and Sam finding out what is going on in the lot and us getting a glimpse at the Leviathan's true mission, which better be complex enough to last another season.
that's what I think and what I hope too :) I just can't keep myself from thinking the worse from time to time, I was thinking the same too about Eve last year (not enough screen time, not really knowing what she wanted 'til her last episode ...etc)^^;;
but don't worry, I'm not judging the finale until I see it :)
I'd like to see BOTH brothers get to take him out as opposed to just Dean, or just Sam. I know they push the Dean revenge storyline, but Sam has just as much right to payback as Dean does, and they work best together, as a team. Plus I think that it's going to take them both to defeat Dick Roman, seeing as he's a pretty formidable opponent.
Are you kidding me. Do you have no recollection of Swan Song where Sam took out Lucifer and Michael and jumped in to Hell to save the world while Dean was on the sidelines, or what about Alistair the one who tortured Dean in Hell, shouldn't that have been Dean's kill? It's about time they let Dean step up again and be effective in in a season finale it's been a long time and I'm still doubtful they'll let him be the one to see it through anyway. They've built up Dean's story before only to do a bait and switch.
Fine - disagree with me. I don't honestly care. But there's no need to be snarky about it. I still want to see BOTH brothers take Dick out. More often than not it's been DEAN who gets the kills, in the MOTW eps etc ( though this season Sam has had a few). And when he got to kill YE it was a victory because they lived, they defeated the bad guy, all was well. When Sam jumped into the pit, it was more about making amends and sacrifice - not so much a victory as a tragedy and, some would argue, something he had to do to make good on his mistakes. At any rate I don't see the point in going down a checklist and comparing tallies - I just want to see them working together and taking down their enemy as a team as opposed to Dean getting all the glory, because Sam has just as much reason to want revenge as Dean does. Dean can be 'effective" just fine working WITH Sam instead of solo. And if you want to talk about abandoning a story line, take a look at Sam's plots the last few seasons (this one included). This has been the MOST Dean-heavy season I've ever seen - I'll honestly be shocked if they actually give Sam the promised plot the end of the season. I'm pretty sure they're just going to have Cas swoop in and magically heal him, and then POOF, there goes the ONE interesting thing that Sam had to deal with this season - a story with tons of potential for emotional growth and angst and drama, reduced to a few hand-rubs. Talk about a bait and switch. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm worried that I'm not.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Seriously? Thats awesome!
ReplyDeleteinteresting titles........especially 23
ReplyDeleteDean really wants that Dick!
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode titles.
ReplyDeleteBWAH!!! Here's hoping that they don't change. If nothing else, some people might tune in because they see it on some TV listings and are curious.
ReplyDeleteI'm already a slash fan and you give me an episode called "get dick"... Come on!!!
ReplyDeleteMan, I love this show...
The Last one is pretty funny Get Dick and 23 episodes this year awesome
ReplyDelete...
ReplyDeleteOkay, I think they got the joke to far.
I mean, this is the season finally and maybe (God forbid) the series finale.
And it's going to be called "Get Dick"? There's a line between tongue in cheek and just plain ridiculous, and I think they crossed it.
No me gusta, no me gusta para nada.
That being said, I really like the fact that they are going to down Dick Roman, I wish it to be epic.
xD wth...
ReplyDelete(I just hope they failed to 'get Dick', I want the Levis arc to continu next year, not kill him in a hurry in some magical way)
well that is awesome, I hope they stay this way and damn I cant wait for this season finale, it seems like Dick is finally showing what his plan is.
ReplyDeleteLmao@ "Get Dick". That name gets gutter thoughts going. I wonder if it's entitled that to reference movie "Get Shorty" or some other.
ReplyDeleteIf it were just a regular episode I would think the title "Get Dick" is hilarious, but this is a season (and quite possibly a series) finale, you would hope that the writers would take it seriously. I mean think back to old finale titles "No Rest for the Wicked", "The Man Who Knew Too much" etc... Supernatural use to derive their titles from reverent classic songs, now they are utilizing lame jokes...its sad really
ReplyDeleteI appreciate how dedicated the writers have been this season to making as many Dick jokes as they possibly can.
ReplyDeleteHate to say it, but I have to agree. I like 22's name, but 23's is.. going too far. Its not funny, its just vulgar. Like a bad romance novel title. Yeap. I like that ep 22 calls back to season's six penultimate episode as well.
ReplyDelete"There Will Be Blood" -- CLASSIC.
ReplyDelete"Get Dick" -- WTF people?

Awesome! There will definitely be blood when they get Dick! Get him, boys!
ReplyDeleteGet Dick -- priceless!

I like these titles, but don't really care about them as long as the episode is good.

ReplyDeleteLOVE 22.. 23 might be going a bit to far, though it may also pull in some curious channel flippers on the night it airs, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteJim Michaels

@TheJimMichaels

Spn producer Jim Michael twited that they don't have a title yet, so "Get Dick" is probably just someone trying to be funny or a temporary working title that will be changed.
The titles are fantastic! I am actually looking forward to those. I hope Dean gets to take out Dick.. I really do.
ReplyDeleteLol
ReplyDeleteWell, it may be, but Sam's statement on any dick on Dick wasn't much better. I enjoy the humor though.
ReplyDeleteLike the titles. I agree, Dean has his reasons for revenge. I wonder, though, how will Sam be by the end of the season? I cannot wait for the new episodes starting next week!
ReplyDeleteAny word on Jen and Jared's baby? The big day is approaching very quickly it seems.
"the dick episode" LOL
ReplyDeleteI have the sam problem with the acronym
I do hope he's healed and both brothers are back in the metallicar
ReplyDeleteAMAZING titles. Love the "There will be blood" movie, and GET DICK. Dear GOD! :'D
ReplyDeleteoops typo mistake. I meant the SAME problem.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a Sam problem at all... except maybe with his hair
:-)
Have faith this won't be the serie finale. Only the season finale.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure of it, I sacrified a rubber chicken on a homemade altar ;-)
I have a problem with his hair too.
ReplyDeleteHope you didn't make any mistakes when you recited the Latin spell or we might find
ReplyDeleteourselves in a season eight with the guys turned into girls or somethong.! :) LoL
Well said, one can't judge a book by its cover! :)
ReplyDeleteYes it has to be a temporary title. They have to have one because the ep must be, at least, partly written.
ReplyDeleteAnd even "There Will Be Blood" gets me just lukewarm cause is the title of a movie relesed no more than a couple of years ago. Too topical.
ReplyDeleteLOL; Get Dick!
ReplyDeleteGreatest Season Finale title ever!
And that was me XD
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you're taking the title too serious is laughable. It doesn't have to sound 'epic' just because it's a finale. To think the finale titles should always have an 'epic' sound to them is actually just plain ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteThe end.
OMG. I may have changed inadvertenly our show into a bad fanfic
ReplyDelete*dramatic facepalm*
OK I still have a rubber duck. I'm gonna fix this :-D
I would have accepted "Got Dick?" as a title but I'm not amused by the title in its current form.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I didn't knew that you had a mayor on "Episode Naming Protocols", I mean, it's the only reason to summon so many shoulda's and have to's and be so derisive of people's opinions, cause you know how it HAS to be, right?
ReplyDeleteSarcasm aside, Thomas, do not bother me with your asinine snobiness again, I hadn't seen such an inflated ego since the Kardashian's thought they had talent.
Now now, as you were.
It's because they want you to "Get Dick"... :|
ReplyDeleteHeh. To that I'll say, in my worst "John Cleese as a Frenchman" voice, "No thanks, I've already got one!"
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I am betting that you think you've just won this argument by comparing my ego to a Kardashian's talent? Yah, because THAT would definitely hurt my feelings. No, sorry, but your snobiness of thinking these finale titles should have a better meaning or a more "epic" sound shows that you are just plainly an idiot. ReplyDeleteSpoilerTV once had class, once in a time when people didn't moan and groan so freaking much. I miss those days.
"Now now, as you were".
More likely, it's "Get Carter".

ReplyDeleteSo you call me ignorant and and idiot, and then insult the Spoiler TV community as a whole, citing the golden day.

I used a real one...
ReplyDeleteI think I over did it.
:D
Lol. Your posts are simply amazing. I needed a great laugh after my night shift, so I do applaud you.
ReplyDeleteSimply put, yes, it is quite ignorant to complain about "Get Dick" as not being 'epic' enough or supposedly too 'vulgar'. Maybe just step down on your high horse if you think that.
Talking about my butt crack, my arsehole, bringing up a Kardashian....something tells me you have a fetish.
Sorry, I just can't understand your logic in any level.
ReplyDeleteAnd I step down from this conversation, we are just going around in circles going absolutely nowhere.
I am curious how making a buttcrack joke means I have a fetish; see, I just don't get your logic at all, so this is pointless.
I should have made a joke about Dick then ;D
No way the Leviathans are finished this season. No way. I've been shocked by Supernatural before but that would be an epic writing fail of the worst kind. ReplyDeleteAgreed. People are always like "Oh, that happened in HDGTEOOGBVRWS!" and I'm all WTF? *confused look*
ReplyDeleteSometimes I have to keep an ep guide tab open just to follow what people are talking about! LOL
I'm totally calling the ASPCA on you! LOL
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me. ReplyDeleteLOL, I love them.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure 7.23 isn't the season finale. I'm 95% sure there's 24 episodes this season.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least 5% of you is right then, lol.
ReplyDeleteMmm probably. I've never watched either. Only looked up stuff online trying to figure out the reference. XD
ReplyDeletelol you're funny. I sometimes have trouble with the title abbreviations too. XD
ReplyDeleteWhy not 'Fun with Dick and Dean'?
ReplyDelete
