It sounds like Dean didn't put Sam in the mental institution. Sam was hospitalized because he was hit by a car and the doctors decided the mental ward was where he belonged. Nice zoom in on Misha's butt.
Well, that's not how I thought Sam would end up in the psychiatric ward - I figured it would finally get to be too much and Dean would have to check him in. And the name "Emmanuel" is fitting, I suppose, but kind of weird haha
Hahaha I thought the same thing... I guess they were trying to be all mysterious about who the person was, showing us Dean's reaction first, but it was seriously just a close-up of Misha's butt
^^;; I guess no one saw that coming about how Sam would end up in a mental hospital...
At first I thought he tried to kill himself (because of the wrist bandage), than when I saw that video, my first reaction:''Ah its okay he *JUST* just hit by a car :D ''XD I feel bad with myself...sorry Sammy, I still luv U
how about wait to see how he got hit? Maybe that has something to do with an hallucination, like how his hallucinations led him in that warehouse in the 7x02
Cas is back. What should his return look like? Ass. O_o And on side note, how the hell can you hit Sam full force? You can't miss him and the driver clearly didn't even hesitate. They just kept rollin.
Maybe. I'm not disagreeing with you- you are right. Logically, I suppose that he could have hallucinations while in the ER that leads to his being committed? I'll be terribly surprised if they show this scenario rather than just talk about it. If they do go the way I'm thinking--ie just talking about the fact that he lost his marbles thereby being committed and not showing it-- I'm going to go with a car crush. Mainly because I'll just be wasting my energy trying to imagine that if they can't be bothered to show me that.
I'm not sue what you meant with ''hallucination in the ER'', I'm talking that maybe he didn't even know he was running in front of a car, or just running in the street. Maybe he had some kind of hallucination and had no idea where he was when it happened. That the car crush wasn't an '''accident''', but Lucifer doing something that pushed Sam to run in front of a car
Oh shit that's it, I feel my crazyness return. I HATE that it's cause misha is there omg O.O I swear boys I love you butbutbut
O.O I just really love Cas, or just Misha on the show really, but need Cas.... I'm shaking this is not good shhh I guess I'll catch up on the missed episodes. (okay I think I missed just the last one it aint that bad haha)
I see your point and I agree with you. But that doesn't explain why/how Sam ends up in the psych ward which is what I was talking about when I mentioned hallucinations in the ER. In the clip, it is clearly shown that the hospital admitted Sam to the psych ward without his or Dean's consent. Now, I'm no expert but to the best of my knowledge- people aren't committed to the psych ward solely because they were in a car accident. Unless, they are suspected for trying to commit suicide or do harm to others.
My speculation is that Sam could have hallucinated in the ER or in the ambulance as he was being treated for his injuries which would be a plausible reason for the hospital to commit him to the psych ward in fear that he will do himself or others harm. I'll be very surprised if they actually show this occur--meaning that they show Sam getting hit by the car to being rushed to the hospital AND then hallucinating and being committed. I think that they will skip the second hallucination and Sam being committed by showing instead Dean at the hospital being told that Sam is in the psych ward and then have him go to see Sam.
I have to admit, I'm finding a little humor in the thought that Sam's big moment - the one we've been waiting for for almost two years - might be upstaged by Misha's butt.
It was always going to be upstaged by Misha/Castiel s something the moment his return was announced they knew that.and he heals the sick and crazy and Sam will get healed end of story.
You're right..We shouldn't expect anything very complex as for how he ends up in the psych ward. He probably says the wrong thing in front of a doctor or something..Maybe he just says something to Lucifer leading the doctors to believe that he's hallucinating. If they have suspicions that a patient has a mental problem, they probably admit him first and inform his relatives(in this case,Dean) later. It makes sense that they don't need Sam's consent and I don't think they need Dean's either..
I agree - they never actually show Sam's POV on these things. It's usually all about Dean freaking out about it and not about what Sam is actually going through. I'm worried that most of this ep will just be Dean/Cas?Meg interspersed with brief shots of Sam in the psych ward to remind us that he's there, but no real in-depth exploration of what it's like for him going nuts. He's just sort of conveniently out of the way while Dean saves the day. But maybe they'll surprise us and it'll end up better than that. Who knows. I'm just not going to hope for something we probably won't get.
And you're right - Sam would have to show some seriously unbalanced behavior for them to blue-paper him into a 72 hour psych hold. That's not done involuntarily without serious concern that someone will harm themselves or others. Generally 72 hours is the longest they can hold someone in in-patient psych wards involuntarily unless that person gives a definitive reason for them to lengthen the hold (like continued suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, out of control hallucinations, serious detoxing, or a need to stabilize med levels, etc). So if Sam has been involuntarily admitted to the locked psych ward, he had to have shown some psychologically unbalanced and dangerous behaviors. Especially if he's there for any serious length of time.
Also, they did a TERRIBLE job of portraying a locked psych unit room LOL. There are SO many things in that room he could kill himself with, or harm someone else with! No real psych ward room would have a metal pitcher and a GLASS water glass by the bed, a framed picture on the wall that could be taken down and used as a weapon, a free-standing lamp that can be swung as a weapon and an accessible bulb that could be removed and broken, resulting in a sharp that could be used for self-harm, and a metal bed frame sturdy enough to hang yourself from with a sheet. Real psych wards have recessed lighting with cages over the bulbs, no free-standing furnishings, no bed frames that you can loop a sheet around, and no glass or metal cups/pitchers/etc. I can't help it - the mental health professional in me is SO annoyed by those details! LOL
This looks awesome. I'm looking forward to it all, Cas, Sam's crazy/possible healing, Dean/Cas angst, close ups of Misha's arse, etc. I don't even care anymore. I'm not going to let anybody break my stride in my enjoyment of this episode.
The Cas/Emmanuel thing is both intriguing and worrisome. Emmanuel is another name for the Messiah/Jesus, and coupled with the name of the ep... But I still think real Cas is in there somewhere, based on comments from the writers and Misha and the previews we've seen so far.
If they have reasonable suspicious that a patient poses a danger to themselves or others, they can admit them for a 72 hour psych hold to evaluate them and determine treatment - but only if they pose a danger to self or others, which allows the hospital to invoke their duty to protect and make medical decisions for the patient without their legal consent. Sometimes it involves law enforcement "blue-papering" a person into a ward, which is sort of like a psych arrest in a sense (it doesn't get you into legal trouble, but you are basically legally detained for the 72 hours in the psych ward). :)
Here's hoping that's accurate! But I've seen people say that an ep was balanced or had good Sam POV before and had the ep not deliver - I think some people are so used to seeing almost no Sam POV that they see ANY Sam POV as "balanced" or ANY ep that has a bit of Sam story is a "Sam-centric ep" even if 90% of the POV is Deans. But I've never been on that site, so maybe they have an actual balanced perspective on the issue and we'll actually get some Sam POV! Fingers crossed!
Yeah I see what you mean. And POV-wise, I don't expect much either, at least I won't be disappointed. And I don't want to reveal what the article says, but Sam gets to do some interesting stuff, he won't just be going crazy in this room. That's something, I guess !
Nothing wrong with that. It is a much needed close-up. Afterall, Misha but was hidden under the trench-coat of love for three seasons. I say it's a reward for the Cas fans who remained faithful to the show despite Cas "kill and forgotten" treatment ;-)
lol that makes no sense. He can't have been back from...wherever he was for more than a few months, and with no memory, why would anyone marry him? Weird.
Yeah. I knew that the meaning of the name Emmanuel was religious. Didn't know exactly what it meant though. It is very fitting since he was/is an angel (without memories) and how he helped Sam and Dean with stopping the Apocalypse. Plus he kept being brought back by God. And then in 6x22 and 7x01 he actually claimed to be God when he was being crazy.
I wonder who gave Cas that name since he had none he could remember? Somebody he healed?
BTW if it's God that brought Cas back (probably the case considering there are no known other parties that could or would bring an angel back) I'd have to say God really favors Cas. lol
He definitely must see something in him. Must see what I see. At his core, Cas is a good angel - at least he wants to do good and did do good. He just was really misguided in his actions during Season 6, something that can't be excused.
Maybe that is why Castiel's memories are missing- done on purpose to give Cas a fresh start helping people- so he'd change again, understand people more and become more human? Plus, I've always gotten a sense that despite being a warrior angel and BA at times, he'd much prefer not to fight - but he'll fight for what he thinks is good if he has too. I think Cas might actually be in his true element being the healer.
No more than they pandered to the Sam fans in the "wet sam with a towel as unique garnment" after-shower scene; or "bare chested Sam" doing some push up.
No more than they pandered to the dean fans in the same after shower minimal attire or the shirtless Dean in the shapeshifter episode.
No more than they pandered to the fanboys in the "let undress the chick before we torture her" while the tortured male stay fully dressed.
There is nothing wrong in showing some pretiness to boost the ratings and making some fans squeal their satisfaction don't you think?
Maybe a woman he healed? It is strange just thinking about Cas being married...married?! :o Add that to the list of things that have changed about him.
OMG this episode will be perfect! :D Even ghost Bobby's showing up! I love how someone said it would be perfect if Bobby would be in the episode and then we don't get Bobby but the next best thing - the hint of him still being around! That's got to count for something, right?
I'M SO FRICKIN EXCITED! Even more then before! I think I'm going to die from anticipation! Ahhhh!
Sam is quite open about what he think and feel. Maybe I didn't understand you, but my impression is that we know more about Sam feelings because he talk about it with his brother, while Dean is all diversion and repressed angst.
I don't think writers will have so carrefuly build Sam mental breakdown to just drop the plot at his climax. That would be disappointing. I think the that each characters story will be well-balanced.(sam breakdown; amnesic cas return; dean fear/anger/joy)
Please, do disgress. It is educative to have a professional pov on the technicals details of the show.
The thing is I get why Cas, an amnesia victim, might marry some random. I would guess that it's a pretty vulnerable state and further spoilers I've read seem to indicate that this person cared for him physically when he first reappeared, so maybe that would make a person kind of cling to you. But who in their right mind would marry a person who doesn't remember the last 35 years of their life? The obvious and kind of big downside is that they eventually recover their memories and a) are already married, b) are actually a criminal or some other unsavory character, or c) they decide they want to go back to their old life.
I feel like this means there might be more to this Daphne person. Maybe she's a Leviathan lol.
Oh god, don't get me started. I hit a deer with my car back in December. :( It was just a little thing too, but still my whole front end was decimated. I think hitting a Sam Winchester would be way worse. Both from a car damage pov and emotional duress. :P
About who choose cas new name. I just wondered the same in a response to helena Wonderland post :-) Maybe he was rescued by a priest or a christian person who gave him the name. Maybe he choose the name himself.
God is a cas fan ;-) Cas was the only angels who stayed loyal to God command. The rest of the host just obeyed zachariah, who did follow his own agenda instead of God Word.
I like your insight on amnesic Cas. It give us the possibility to see Cas being himself without heaven brain-washing. It also give Dean the opportunity to talk freely. How could he stay angry against a man who doesn't remember what he did? And he can talk without hurting Cas.
I wonder if Dean intended to tell Cas he is an angel. Maybe he first decided to let Cas be in peace but then an event force him to reveal the truth. Maybe Cas understand at some point he is that man who betrayed Dean.
I agree that Cas isn't a warrior at core, he was just trained to be one.
I hope real Cas is in there. He may just suffer from some post traumatic repressed memory. Maybe seing Sam or having Dean tell him who he is will act as a trigger. Or maybe the trench-coat of love will act as a trigger ;-)
We are almost there . In my country we are already friday, but I still have to wait 24h. The episode is usually available on the www saturday morning. I can wait. Thanks to Cas return, I'm on my fluffy cloud of hapiness and I enjoy every minute of it!
Me too. Robert Singer say that she has her own agenda. She is up to no good.
I think it has something to do with Cas. Maybe she wants to corrupt him or trick him into making a deal. Tricking an angel will surely get her in an higher position in Demons hierarchy. Or she may want to use his powers for her own benefit.
My theory is that she was already keeping an eye on Cas. Dean arrival give her an opportunity to put her plan in motion.
Who in their right mind wouldn't want to marry a cute thing as Cas? :-D
There is one vital information we can deduce from that spoiler: Cas isn't a virgin anymore. Dean doesn't need to worry about it. Our little angel has grown ;-)
I know but that is what troubles me a little. I understand that it is a TV show and all but I feel like they're forcing something on the character for the sake of the episode. It is the peak of Sam's SL and it seems like it will be downhill from here in terms of SL because Sam is most definitely going to be healed in this episode and behave normally until an episode in S8 that triggers his mental problems again.
Exactly .I wouldnt of minded Sam being 'healed' if there had been progression to reach that point but they once again ignore his situation for most of the season and then squeeze in to a couple of episodes then use it to reintroduce Cas who just happens to be a 'healer' and apparently might be able to do that Death couldnt and heal Sam.
Yes, I agree. I would also say that the formula seems very similar to the fantastic S1 Faith but then that episode was a self-contained ep without a season long (seemly) storyline to deal with.
In one of the promos Sam says "Cas" probably when Cas goes to see him in the psych ward and then we see Emmauel asking Dean if he's Cas. So I don't know if Dean was going to tell him, but it looks like Sam unknowingly will.
Wow. Lighten up. She's just messing around, and I don't see where she even remotely said there was anything wrong with it. She was using vague sarcasm to make an amusing point. Not her fault you took it the wrong way.
I don't need to "light up" and I didn't took it the wrong way. I was merely stating that it is not unusual to get some fan service on spn. It has been done for the three fans favorites.
There is no need to defend Nikita Ahn. I may not share all her opinions, but I like to read her comments. She usually is quite articulate and give somme interestings arguments to defend her POV.
"I don't see where she even remotely said there was anything wrong with it" I never said that. I just added my opinion, and I ended it with a "?" meaning I would like to know her POV on that
Maybe. The promos aren't aways edited in a chronological order. We'll know very soon. Well you my know already. I have to wait a little more until the episode is available on the web. The hard part now is staying away from spoilerTv or any spn related post until I've watched it. :-)
I think I get your point about a Sam POV episode. Mystery spot would be a Sam POV episode, right? The examples you give to illustrate your POV are very revealing. It never struck me while watching the show, but I think you are correct and I understand your need.
I would love more Sam POV. I would love a Sam POV episode where Dean would be the victim, and Sam would be the worried one who would save the day. Correct me if I'm wrong, but usually it's Dean who is the worrying savior and Sam the victim who needs help.
I would also love if Sam problems were, for once, not related with what the yellow-eyes demon did to him the night Sam mother died. It seems to me that Sam arcs are always related with his past, his blood being corrupted, him being special, the YED chosen one, then Lucifer chosen one, Sam relating to the MOTW because he feels he is a monster himself. How many times have we hear him say: "I know I'm a freak" or something like that?
About the treatment of Sam arc this season. Of course I watched all the episodes :-) I don't feel the writers dropped Sam story arc. Of course they won't past half of the season focusing mainly on sam mental problem; but we had some reminders like Lucifer apparitions, etc. Each season has his mix of MOTW and over arc episodes. What I noticed is that the writers always had some trouble to maintain the characters continuity during the motw ep.
Sam up and hunting doesn't mean he will be healed. We don't know if Cas has enough mojo left to heal Sam. Cas will probabely help him but it could be only by keeping lucifer at bay for a while.
Of course, You may also be right and see your fear on screen tonight. :-/
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I need it to be tomorrow now!
ReplyDeletenow "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" is stuck in my head.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Dean didn't put Sam in the mental institution. Sam was hospitalized because he was hit by a car and the doctors decided the mental ward was where he belonged. Nice zoom in on Misha's butt.
ReplyDeleteA little too nice for my taste, what was the Bob Singer thinking when he imagined that shot ? XD

Oh so a car crush leads to Sam being put into the psych ward? Okay...wow, the limp really does come out of nowhere...
ReplyDeleteI feel like that's how it goes on this show haha - "Oh good, that life-threatening event didn't happen, it was just THIS one..."
ReplyDeleteI dont mean to laugh but Sam getting hit by a car just about sums up this sl.
ReplyDelete;P You won't tell Sammy that I was relief he ''just'' got hit by a car?
ReplyDeletehow about wait to see how he got hit? Maybe that has something to do with an hallucination, like how his hallucinations led him in that warehouse in the 7x02
ReplyDeleteNo worries, my lips are sealed ;)

ReplyDeleteAw, damn it. I want to know how Meg fits into all of this but no one is saying a damn thing about that.
ReplyDeletelol I'm dying to know :P
ReplyDeleteI find it funny he says in the car Cas is an unusual name cause in my book Emmanuel isn't a usual name either. :P
ReplyDeleteDriver needs glasses. :P
ReplyDeletelol What should his return look like. Good one. XD
Well yeah, the driver hit the fandom's moose! lol
ReplyDeletePoor moose. :(
"The balance between Sam-story and Dean-story in this episode is a good one."
ReplyDeleteFrom KSiteTV, they've seens the episode. That's a relief :)

from wikipedia:
ReplyDeleteEmmanuel or Imanu'el (Hebrew "God is with us" consists of two Hebrew words: ('El, meaning God) and Immānū, meaning "with us")
Isn't Emmanuel also another name for Jesus? Jesus, son of God, who was born human to save humanity. It's quite fitting indeed.
lol that makes no sense. He can't have been back from...wherever he was for more than a few months, and with no memory, why would anyone marry him? Weird.

Maybe a woman he healed? It is strange just thinking about Cas being married...married?! :o Add that to the list of things that have changed about him.
ReplyDeleteOMG this episode will be perfect! :D Even ghost Bobby's showing up! I love how someone said it would be perfect if Bobby would be in the episode and then we don't get Bobby but the next best thing - the hint of him still being around! That's got to count for something, right?
ReplyDeleteI'M SO FRICKIN EXCITED! Even more then before! I think I'm going to die from anticipation! Ahhhh!
Sam is quite open about what he think and feel. Maybe I didn't understand you, but my impression is that we know more about Sam feelings because he talk about it with his brother, while Dean is all diversion and repressed angst.
ReplyDeleteI don't think writers will have so carrefuly build Sam mental breakdown to just drop the plot at his climax. That would be disappointing.
I think the that each characters story will be well-balanced.(sam breakdown; amnesic cas return; dean fear/anger/joy)
Please, do disgress. It is educative to have a professional pov on the technicals details of the show.
thanks for the link :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he chose that name himself.
ReplyDeleteI feel like this means there might be more to this Daphne person. Maybe she's a Leviathan lol.
Oh god, don't get me started. I hit a deer with my car back in December. :( It was just a little thing too, but still my whole front end was decimated. I think hitting a Sam Winchester would be way worse. Both from a car damage pov and emotional duress. :P
ReplyDeleteAbout who choose cas new name. I just wondered the same in a response to helena Wonderland post :-) Maybe he was rescued by a priest or a christian person who gave him the name. Maybe he choose the name himself.
ReplyDeleteGod is a cas fan ;-) Cas was the only angels who stayed loyal to God command.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe the trench-coat of love will act as a trigger ;-)
We are almost there . In my country we are already friday, but I still have to wait 24h. The episode is usually available on the www saturday morning.
I can wait. Thanks to Cas return, I'm on my fluffy cloud of hapiness and I enjoy every minute of it!
Me too. Robert Singer say that she has her own agenda. She is up to no good.
ReplyDeleteI think it has something to do with Cas.
ReplyDeleteThere is one vital information we can deduce from that spoiler: Cas isn't a virgin anymore. Dean doesn't need to worry about it. Our little angel has grown ;-)
lol this is true. On both counts. :P
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I agree. I mean I can suspend my belief for so long-- I need some things to be realistic otherwise it all seems so fake to me
ReplyDeleteI know but that is what troubles me a little.
ReplyDeleteit is funny and sad all at once I think
ReplyDeleteYES YES and a resounding YES!
ReplyDeleteExactly .I wouldnt of minded Sam being 'healed' if there had been progression to reach that point but they once again ignore his situation for most of the season and then squeeze in to a couple of episodes then use it to reintroduce Cas who just happens to be a 'healer' and apparently might be able to do that Death couldnt and heal Sam.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree. I would also say that the formula seems very similar to the fantastic S1 Faith but then that episode was a self-contained ep without a season long (seemly) storyline to deal with.
ReplyDeleteLol You spoke my mind XD
ReplyDeleteIn one of the promos Sam says "Cas" probably when Cas goes to see him in the psych ward and then we see Emmauel asking Dean if he's Cas. So I don't know if Dean was going to tell him, but it looks like Sam unknowingly will.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
ReplyDeleteWow. Lighten up. She's just messing around, and I don't see where she even remotely said there was anything wrong with it. She was using vague sarcasm to make an amusing point. Not her fault you took it the wrong way.
ReplyDeleteI don't need to "light up" and I didn't took it the wrong way.
ReplyDeleteI was merely stating that it is not unusual to get some fan service on spn. It has been done for the three fans favorites.
There is no need to defend Nikita Ahn. I may not share all her opinions, but I like to read her comments. She usually is quite articulate and give somme interestings arguments to defend her POV.
"I don't see where she even remotely said there was anything wrong with it"
I never said that. I just added my opinion, and I ended it with a "?" meaning I would like to know her POV on that
Maybe. The promos aren't aways edited in a chronological order.
ReplyDeleteWe'll know very soon.
Well you my know already. I have to wait a little more until the episode is available on the web.
The hard part now is staying away from spoilerTv or any spn related post until I've watched it. :-)
I think I get your point about a Sam POV episode.
ReplyDeleteMystery spot would be a Sam POV episode, right?
Of course I watched all the episodes :-)
I don't feel the writers dropped Sam story arc.
I sincerely hope you will enjoy the show
