MISHA COLLINS RETURNS!! — Lucifer (guest star Mark Pellegrino) drives Sam (Jared Padalecki) to the breaking point and Sam ends up in a mental hospital. Desperate to save his brother, Dean (Jensen Ackles) calls every hunter he knows for help. One of the hunters gives him the name of a healer who turns out to have a very familiar face (guest star Misha Collins). Robert Singer directed the episode written by Sera Gamble (##717).

  1. Excuse me..Healer?!?Didn't see that coming...I thought he would be a patient in the mental hospital.
I wonder where they're going with this...

    ReplyDelete
  2. So is he Castiel or not? Well, nice to have Misha back anyway!
But oh my gosh! Poor Sammy! And poor desperate (again!) Dean! Poor boys!

    ReplyDelete
  3. My guess is that he is someone who woke up not remembering anything and found out that he can heal people by touching them. But my last guess was that he was a patient in a mental hospital,so don't read too much into it! ; )

    ReplyDelete
  4.  I think you may be right. At least that's my best guess, too;)

    ReplyDelete
  5. Hmmm...I'm actually not sure what the hell to make of that (re Misha's return), I guess I'll wait and see before I pass judgement! Though yay for more Hallucifer and crazy!Sam, and I have to say, the duo of Sera Gamble and Bob Singer is definitely promising. Also, this is possibly my favourite episode title so far this season.

  6. Haven't I read this fic before? ;)

Don't angels have healing powers???? I was convinced before I even read this that Cas wasn't gonna remember who he is. Maybe he just thinks he's a healer and has no idea he's an angel

  8. This made me smile.

  9. HEALER?!?!Ok here is my theory. After the Leviathans got out of Cas was found almost dead.He was in a comma, then the mental hospital. He became human and the only thing he has left from his previously angelic existence is the healing power.Because in the promo he seemed like he knew Dean and je was ashamed to look him in the eye...

  10. ........and hence the reason Sam is up, walking, talking and hunting in episode 18. How many fans were right with their predictions?

Meg will help Dean track down AmnesiaCas who still has his powers but doesn't know who he is. They go to the institute and give Sam an instafix. Misha was messing with us with that photo of him in the institute. He was actually wearing an orderlies uniform most likely because he and Dean have to sneak in to see/help Sam.

It all seems a bit predictable so there has to be a major twist or two in there somewhere.

  11. EEEEE. Excite!

And I love what they're doing with this!

    ReplyDelete
  12. can't wait to see these episode with Cas back

    ReplyDelete
  13.  Almost everything is pretty predictable if you read a lot of spoilers.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wow that sounds like it is going to be fun, like I have said, don't care what character Misha plays I will love it and be very glad he is back.  Come on Sera, he needs to hang around a long time in some form. This will make 7 characters he has played on this show.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Weird, I thought he was a patient in a mental hospital? Oh well, we'll see where they will take it

    ReplyDelete
  16. Just give us what we want already, Misha Collins as the Castiel we all know and love.  They owe us that for killing off Bobby lol.

hmm I'm just skeptic so I'm going to say that I hope that the episode doesn't turn out the way how I think it will-- Sam periodically shown to go crazy in the mental hospital while Dean deals with this new not!Castiel...I want to see what happens to Sam especially after S5's Sam, Interrupted. Now he really has gone insane ;)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Okay,I shared my more productive thoughts, now I'm allowed one moment of shameless fangirling(pretend that it's a word)..

    CAS!!!YES,FINALLY...!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Sam doesnt matter  Cas returning does he can come along quick fix Sam so the Sam problem is out of the way for the writers and Dean will be grateful .Castiels hurting Sam will be forgotten not that it mattered in the first place and all will be alright with the world .

    ReplyDelete
  20. It just means that Cas is one step closer to becoming his post-apocalyptic, group-sex having, hippie guru alter ego.

    ReplyDelete
  21. How about wait and see?

    ReplyDelete
  22. except in that world Cas didnt have powers, here he seems to still actually be an angel with his powers just no memory?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Not happy at all about Castiel's return nor happy that they decide to co-incide it with us finally getting payoff for the sam cage wall. I mean this should be HIS ep not shafted for the return of Castiel. My patience is not holding already. And while i'm very psyched to see what happens with Sam the return of freaking castiel is going to really annoy me in the same ep.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Is this the next episode that is supposed to air on March 16th? When I see the previews I get a little confused because there is some footage of a ballerina collapsing on the floor and then there is poor Sam in the mental hospital being wheeled away. This episode is going to be fantastic and I cannot wait until the big night arrives! Do you think Cas is healed and no longer holding the leviathans inside of him? It will be great to see him again!

    ReplyDelete
  25. eps 16 is on March 16th
This episode is on March 23th

  26. There can be many different paths to one destination.  Killjoy.  :P

    ReplyDelete
  27. Which is something I shouldn't wish for...And yet...

    ReplyDelete
  28. hurray, I will take misha in whatever character they have him in.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wait and see for what? doesnt matter how they play it then ending will be the same result. And Sam will be fixed.

    ReplyDelete
  30. No kidding. Cas seems to always get a "Get out of Jail Free" Card. He's never blamed for anything. Hopefully it's not actually Cas himself that's back. I could deal with it being a different character and just Misha returning. But Cas is dead to me.

    ReplyDelete
  31. http://www.buddytv.com/articles/supernatural/supernatural-spoilers-details-44260.aspx It says here that Misha is INDEED the healer!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. And you just *know* he won't get blame for anything in this episode too, am I the only person on earth who still has to see the episode?

    ReplyDelete
  33. That sounds a bit...um...awkward.  I was hoping that Castiel would return without any power.  That's really the only story I can see them going with from here on out.  Guess I'll have to see what insanity the writers pull off this time.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I thought he would be a patient too.  I hope he isn't missing his memory.  That would make it more like the Anna story line.  I find it funny that he's channeling Roy LeGrange though.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Just going by what we've seen in the past.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I really hope this is Misha being a totally different person and not another way not to address everything Castiel did We already got  that in Season 4 when Castile got a free pass for everything he did to the brothers and humanity The teflon Angel is responsible for the condition Sam is in  taking down his wall and he is responsible for Bobbys death.   The writers can't  down play this with Dean or else the Dean we know will cease to exist anymore He hurt Sammy and he took Bobby away from them.
I like Misha too but I also like truth in storytelling and staying true to the characters  Which we didn't have either of in Season 5 when Kripke chose to contradict  all the facts of  Season 4 including the fact  that Castiel was Deans Ruby

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how Sam and Dean would have been better off if Cas had helped Raphael get Michael and Lucifer out of the cage. We have either a The End scenario, or we have the apocalypse, but I don't see Sam and Dean coming out ahead in either.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't want to get into Cas' role in season 4,simply because it's not tied with the current story line. For the record though,I can not disagree more about Castiel being Dean's Ruby...

About his actions in the past season..I'll agree with you that,no matter his intentions,he made some pretty huge mistakes. He id responsible for Sam's condition. No one expects Dean to immediately forgive him,no one expects to see them fall into each others arms. That's the interesting thing,to see if and how they can rebuild their relationship.

That being said, what you said about Cas being responsible for Bobby's death makes absolutely no sense to me.I'm guessing that your logic is that since Cas opened Purgatory and released the Leviathans and since Dick Roman killed Bobby, that makes him responsible for Bobby's death. It's a way to view things. The problem is that with your logic, every single death during seasons 4 and 5 can be blamed on Dean and Sam...

    ReplyDelete
  39.  I did not mean to hit like, because I disagree, I just hit like instead of reply.  Castiel didn't have to help Raphael.  He also didn't have to lie to Sam and Dean or ally with Crowley, or decide he wanted ultimate power.  Heck, once he got Balthazar to give him all the weapons of heaven, the war with Raphael was basically won.  Instead Castiel kept on going after the Purgatory souls even when he didn't need them.

Castiel has skated on every wrong thing he has done. He has never apologized or taken responsibility.  I truly hope that this episode isn't used as a way to give him insta-forgiveness, but I am afraid that will be the final conclusion.  However, I will hold off judgement until I see the episode.

    ReplyDelete
  40. that doesn't mean for certain it will happen again, you're assuming it will, not the same thing

    ReplyDelete
  41. You really liked Future Cas, didn't you? XD

I did too. But I liked Season 5 Cas best.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I don't know I read all the spoilers I can find and they still keep crushing my theories lol

I'm not very good at guessing apparently. lol

    ReplyDelete
  43. That's probably what I can't stand about Cas. He has never taken responsibility for any of his actions or apologized and the writers seem almost afraid to condemn him for anything despite the horrific things they had him do. Notice after Cas died, he has been treated as a fallen soldier and his death was portrayed as an honorable death instead of someone who betrayed them and screwed Sam over permanently. If you want to redeem him fine but TRULY redeem him by having him REALLY EARN it. Redemption is not just waving your magic finger and fixing everything. It takes more than that. Not to mention he also went on a murdering spree just because he could.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't really feel like arguing because it's a waste of breath sort to speak, with any supernatural fan period lol (we're all so stubborn- Sam fan, Dean fan, brother fan, Cas fan or not) but I will point out that the weapons were not enough to defeat Raphael. Cas made that clear. He would have killed Raphael with the weapons asap if they were powerful enough. 6x20 through 6x22 episodes made it obvious to me he wanted the souls because the weapons weren't enough.

Castiel felt he had no other options. He never wanted to be bad. He did bad things sometimes, but he also did good.

Yes, indirectly he is to blame for Bobby's death, but directly he was the one who brought Bobby back in Season 5. If not for Cas, Bobby's story would have ended in Season 5 at Lucifer's hands.

And yes, he is at fault for Sam, and there really is no excuse, but every person deserves a second chance in my eyes (as Sam and Dean have before when they did bad things). If not, Cas could at least make things right.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm totally with you, especially about the ''blame Cass for Bobby'', if we start thinking like that, that because Cass did one thing, another happened which led to another thing which led to Bobby's death, we could also say that Mary is to blame for Bobby's death since her deal with Azazel linked Sam to the him, which led to the fight which led to his death and Dean'S deal and Dean's death, and the demon's blood, which cause Cass to free Sam, which.....we can go as far as we want. Cass died, twice, trying to fix what he did in Season 4

Do I wish he would've told the boys about freeing Sam? Sure, but even if I'm sad he didn't, he still payed.

But for the wall, I sure hope Dean won't forgive him fast and he'll still be angry at him or it would be too ''magical''

    ReplyDelete
  46.   I really hope this is another person Misha is playing  and
not Castiel having  healing powers because he is an Angel with amnesia. But then
why would hsi body be put back together again a third time. I hope there is a
twist like he is a leviathan but for a reason I have yet to come up with. It
just seems so horribly predicable right now and an instant fix for Sam and full
on fan pandering bringing Castile back. But being its Sam no matter how they
play it or who they have in it the number one thing on Deans mind will be Sam as
he is the most important person in Deans world and I find comfort in
    that

    ReplyDelete
  47. Awwww *-*
I LOVE this show!!! So happy to finally read: Misha Collins returns! About time.

    ReplyDelete
  48. There's really not much point in debating this question; there are people who welcome Castiel back with open arms and those who don't.

Each has their own viewpoint and no-one is going to convince them of the contrary.

Personally I think his arc should have finished at the end of season 5 and with it any Heavenly Intervention of any kind, leaving Castiel to get on with his life in Paradise.

Dean and Bobby should have found some ancient ritual or something to get Sam out of Hell and Amen!

It all went in another direction, and he is still here in Season Seven, with the writers having to invent alternative plots to keep including him in the story.

I don't know how this episode will play out, and it will probably be different from what I expect.

All I know is that Castiel did a rotten thing to Sam, while in complete control of his faculties, and I would be disappointed if he gets to right his wrong by healing Sam in an easy  "all is forgiven manner."

Sam made wrong choices too, but he paid heavily for them with 180 years of torture in Hell and subsequent mind-torture by Lucifer.

Castiel opened up Purgatory and let loose the Leviathans who have
already munched their way through a hefty number of human beings, thus paralleling what Sam did.

I am waiting to see if Castiel too, gets punished with 180 years in Hell, but I highly doubt it!

Only time, and the viewing of of the episode, will tell!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I was thinking that if the Cas and the Leviathans were mentally linked, and the Leviathans knew everything Cas knew, then Cas probably knew everything they knew. So it might be neccessary to get Cas's memories back to move this story forward.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I think Cas's story will be linked to the Leviathans and to Sam, so it won't be an alternative story. But really, aren't most of these stories that are outside of the main season arc - such as Bobby and Jody, Dean's guilt, Sam's wall, Amy - alternative stories? I guess it all comes down to whether you enjoy that particular story or not, and that's where the audience seems to be divided here.

    ReplyDelete
  51. A healer?  Huh.. he must still have some of that angel mojo.. I wonder what his name will be?  Can't wait!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I did think it was kind of ironic that they'd potentially go for an "instant fix" like this when they've made the entire season about cutting off the brothers' support system from out from under them... but I suppose they've got to get him ready for the big Leviathan showdown.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think that's the only way the character will get closure, anyway.  It's going to be hard for the boys to try to forgive him if he doesn't remember what he did..

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think the Leviathans eked out of him and into the water supply when he waded into the lake.. but I could be wrong.  This show does like to prove me wrong haha

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm not Cas's greatest fan but I agree he made mistakes but if he is truely sorry and seeks/earns redemption for those acts then he should get redemption.

The quick fix would be a slap in the face for Sam fans IMO, we've waited all season for a pay off well 2 seasons actually all for Cas to wave his magic healing hands and fix him in what 3 episodes? A 3 episode arc is what guest stars get not main characters. But that isnt something we should be holding against Cas/Misha.

Dean should forgive Cas but it shuldnt be easy, Dean holds grudges for years its part of who he is. He says I forgive you but he doesnt truely mean it until he truely means it. But then again Dean isnt the Dean we all used to know, he never would have forgiven anyone for hurting Sam once upon a time but now I'm not so sure. I expect a little Dean angst but he will be pretty quick to forgive Cas esp if Cas can fix Sam and really you cant be pissed at someone who doesnt even remember what it is they have done wrong because they cant remember who they are now can you?!

    ReplyDelete
  56. what I think would be cool is if that familiar face turned out to be Jimmy, free of Cas, who can now heal because of all the time he was an angel's vessel. But i think we're certain it's Cas himself, right? there have been spoilers about it if I recall right?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Honestly, I thought Jimmy was pretty boring.  It's all of Cas's history with the Winchesters and his different perspective on the supernatural that makes Cas interesting and adds a new layer to the story.  If there's a need for a new human character, I'd rather it be someone with a more interesting backstory than Jimmy.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I want to see all of the waiting for Sam's story to have some pay off as well.  Really, they started teasing Sam's breakdown back in Caged Heat, which was over a year ago.  I'm torn as to how long I want them to spend on it though.  On the one hand, there should be some quality to it.  On the other, I'd love Sam to start healing and get back to being a character who can laugh, think about the future, and have relationships.  My preference would have been to have had Sam break down the end of last season or the beginning of this one, so that we were past all of that now, but that obviously didn't happen.  The longer they put this off, the greater our expectations become.

What I really don't understand though, is why so many people have channeled all of their frustrations about Sam toward Cas.  Yes, Cas tore down the wall, but you know if it wasn't Cas, it would have been something else.  Maybe I just don't feel the same way because I don't hang out on minion-heavy websites where there's a lot of Sam bashing going on.  I really don't get the intense hatred some people develop for TV characters.  I can't remember ever hating a character the way some people do.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yes it could of been something else but it wasnt and it is immaterial wether the wall might of come down via some other means it didnt. It was pulled down delibrately with no thought for Sam to distract Dean .

Cas is a very polarizing character I  think , I  have no issues with redemption just instsant fixes which I  hope isnt the case here . Sams is here now do it justice not a blink and miss story arc.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I loved the Jimmy ep, to see what he went thru after saying yes to Castiel, but then I have been a fan of all his SPN characters.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Yeah, but Crowley used Sam's soul to turn Sam and Dean into indentured servants, and then tried to feed them to ghouls, but I don't see the same venom whenever his name is mentioned on these boards.  Is this just because Cas was considered a friend?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Exactly! I am right there with you!!
Sam is getting his insta-fix and then he is shoved into the silent corner again!!! Wow!!! Just wow! I am very sad what they do to the character of Sam! Seems this episode is more about this creature and Dean's reaction than anything about Sam (after waiting for something, anything around Sam)! Its the best to give up any hopes for a connecting personal human story with one of the main characters....Sam Winchester. Its like since Swan Song...... Sam never really came back!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I don't know (how can I know a supernatural being?) and I don't love the creature who hurt Sam so bad for nothing. I didn't love Castiel when he behaved like a 4 year old who can't think with his own  mind (a thousands of years old creature!!!) This is really laughable! Also why was he the only angel in the SPN universe who couldn't speak normal, more like a robotic monoton engine. They owe us nothing regarding that angel, they owe us only a pissed of Dean who is murderously furious against this creature he trusted, the creature who hurt Sam! And I want justice!

    ReplyDelete
  64.  Then the second chance should come from HIS brothers and sisters. You know, the ones that he didn't slaughter? Or maybe from the thousands of human beings that he killed during his "God" phase.  You act as if hurting Dean by hurting Sam is his only sin.  But he murdered his own.  He should be FAR more concerned about that than what Dean thinks.

    ReplyDelete
  65.  I don't mind because Crowley never pretended to be anything other than what he was, a demon who only cared for his own desires.  Castiel hid his motives.

The other problem is that by hiding his part in resurrecting Sam, Castiel made Crowley ABLE to blackmail Sam and Dean.  They only worked for him because he said he could get Sam's soul out.  If Castiel had informed them that Crowley didn't have that power, they would not have worked for Crowley.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yes, thank you!! Glad someone else noticed that as well... The way he had his head down as he turned... seemed kind of ashamed to me

    ReplyDelete
  67. I have to disagree. Cas hid his actions in season 6 but he was always straightforward about his motives (the bigger picture ones anyway). Plus, it's not like Sam and Dean have never lied for what they thought were the right reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think I'm going to have more faith in the writers and PTB that Sam isn't going to get an "Instant-Fix" by Castiel (in whatever incarnation he may appear). Instead I'm going to think that the whole Leviathan and crazy Sam arc will continue into the next season. Even if there isn't an 8th season I'm not going to curse the writers and throw my hands up and whine, I'm going to watch the episode and then if it merits whine.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I am with you big time on this, don't whine BEFORE the show airs.  The writers do a good job of surprising me most eps.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Can not wait to see how this one plays out!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I agree. And even if it's not any version of Jimmy, the Vessel, or Castiel-the-Angel, "Supernatural canon" is there in no such thing as 'man-made' "miracles"(i.e., no true 'Faith Healers'").

So if Sam is (completely) healed (no more Cage memories making him crazy) it would have to involve a supernatural healing (angel/reaper/demon deal) so we're probably back to angel involvement, because if it's a Jimmy/Cas LeviaClone, I can't see the Levis giving 2 figs about healing Sam.

I personally hope that Sam gets better with Dean's help only. <3

(I've said this before I'd even take a healing boost from Crowley because it's in his best interests to have the Winchesters& fellow Hunters take down the Levis and Dick Roman).

    ReplyDelete
  72. I don't often "pre-judge" episodes either, but 'historically' Cas has gotten a "Get out of Jail Free" card as Chelsea says. The show has rarely made Castiel take ownership for his mistakes and the show has supplied Cas with a sympathetic view for his actions that the show never gave to Sam; maybe that will change in the new MC arc - I think Robert Singer said something like Cas fans would be more pleased with this arc then the way the show treated Cas in 7.02.

I ***must reiterate*** that I hope that "Cas" is not redeemed by just by insta-'fixing Sam' - because that would be a major writer cop out and I would be surprised (and mad) if SG (the writer of 7.17) would take such an easy and unimaginative way out.

I would hope that "Cas" would help Sam and Dean (& other Hunters?) with the Leviathans and not just by smiting them - because he was pretty useless when Eve was alive - and redeem himself that way. :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. tell that to sharonally, I agree with what you said and I hope the same thing than you, but for sharonally she KNOW the worst case scenario will happen

    ReplyDelete
  74. So I  stated what I  felt I  never claimed I  was right just how I  feel. Yoiu didnt like that that that isnt my problem. So next time either ignore what I  say or by pass it ok.

    ReplyDelete
  75. You said it ''will'' happen, not that you think it could or whatever, and just because a lot of people pre-judge doesn't mean it *will* happen. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. let's just wait

    ReplyDelete
  76. I agree! It irritates me to no end that Castiel is returning in the episodes that are FINALLY going to focus on Sam.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Dean killed Amy for killing four people. Cas killed thousands. Let's see if he kills Cas or if he gets a pass, as per usual.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hmmmm...interesting.  The promos show this child.  I am trying to figure out who he is too.  Cas may have lost his memory???  We know he can heal.  He's an angel.  It's going to be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yeah, that's also something he needs to fix, but can't fix if he's stuck on Earth. So he needs to fix what he can fix. If he's able to get back to Heaven then that's when he needs to fix things up there.

And it seems the fans focus on his betrayal of the Winchesters vs. other things he did. So if the writers are going to focus on anything it's bound to be Cas fixing/helping Sam and Dean.
