  1. I hope it only builds up after this episode since we get 7 straight episodes. PLEASE I NEED A DECENT ENDING.

    ReplyDelete
  2. When are people going to wake up and realize that this show is awesome?

    ReplyDelete
  3. I think we are kidding ourselves here if we think fringe is getting another season.

There is a grey area about money etc. and people will probably reply going "but... but... if we all put this amount in". Or "surely Fox won't pull another Firefly" and all the other frequent excuses. But let's face facts. 0.9 on Fox, even on a Friday, is ridiculously low.

Don't get me wrong Fringe is my favourite show, along with Community. I want another season but its very obvious to me that we won't get it.

  4. I just can't fucking believe this.......

    ReplyDelete
  5. it was hunger games night premiere lets wait what the other shows did to judge. if they did better and we sucked then we start cry and throw tomatoes to the nielsen boxes.....

    ReplyDelete
  6. Maybe you should post masked scheduler's other tweet too where he says that the opening of Hunger Games could have impacted the ratings.
I said that to my Fringies at work on Wednesday already.
Don't give up hope Fringies, hang in there and keep supporting.
Fringe Rocks and it needs to stay.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'll be sorry to see the show go, but it totally lost me this season. I didn't even bother catching up on demand, just said that I'll wait for the DVD. :/

    ReplyDelete
  8.  There were a few good Bball games too.

    ReplyDelete
  9. No surprise whatsoever to me.

The NCAA Basketball Tournament gets HUGE ratings every year and I'm sure it steals from just about every show on when it airs.

    ReplyDelete
  10. yeah i forgot that too. Lets wait the rest of the ratings and keep calm . The twitter /getglue exploded last night. we trend the tag in first position ....worldwide...shame to get 0,9 ...ughh nielsen...

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm sorry for Fringe fans (I'm still catching up with the show)

But this news made me actually scared out of my mind about Supernatural ratings... *Bites lip*

    ReplyDelete
  12. See, already "Hunger Games premiere" and "Basketball", all useless excuses that come out every week. There is ALWAYS something.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Right there with you about Supernatural...I'm not asking for much,I'll be happy if the ratings simply remain the same..

    ReplyDelete
  14. If Fox cancels Fringe, what'll be left? Terra Nova and House are already cancelled, and Alcatraz is unlikely to get picked up for another season.
Fringe is the Friday Ruler of Fox. It has to be renewed.

    (Yep, trying to convince myself.)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah, me too! I'm dreading a 0.6 or even a 0.5... With all the competition I don't think it's impossible, but GOD! I don't wanna!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Damn! But there's always hope, so I won't give up.

    ReplyDelete
  17.  It only means it's under 0.9, whichi wouldn't exactly be a surprise, right ? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  18. They could cancel a lot of shows like they did last year with Lie to Me and Human Target.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes, but Fringe, like all of the genre shows usually has hard-core fan base who watch religiously every week, so unless those fans of Fringe are also big basketball fans, then I would put in down to a actual fall in viewers.

I didn't see it, but perhaps the episode was just not interesting.

I'm curious to see how the other shows have done.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Fringe's fate is in the hands of the gods now.

    ReplyDelete
  21.  Not a surprise, but the higher the better, right?

    ReplyDelete
  22. That is the worst rating for Fringe I've ever seen... :( But I'm not giving up yet... Yes there was basketball last night and of course the night premiere of The Hunger Games at the movies... But I was watching Fringe over my local Blazer game... Basketball can wait, I already know the score... Let's wait and see what it does next week! We can't give up Fringies!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I cannot see the ratings in 18-49 and viewers column.
I desactivate some firefox add-on like No script; adblock and ghostery but I still cannot see the numbers.

    What should I do?

By reading comment, I understand Fringe is not doing good :-/
What can we do about that? Is there a campaign "save fringe" somewhere? Is it useful to write to Fox?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I had a few friends over watching the NCAAs and watched Fringe after. So I know it happens. Though I usually watch it "semi-live", starting at 8:15 or so and forwarding through commercials.

I do think it was a boring episode, one of the worst of the series honestly. I'm one of those people that does not think episode quality affects ratings  for that episode very much. People tune in and watch before they know it was bad.

If the second half hour drops dramatically then I can see it. Usually I think bad episodes affect the next episode's numbers more. I could be completely off on my thought process though. I've never read anything to support my theory I guess....

I'm interested to see the over all numbers for the night too.....

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well, one way to look at this is that Fringe just moved from 70/30 to 98%. Just... don't tell anyone it's 98% for cancellation... unless Fox and WB are willing to take a severe hit in the ratings department on the off chance they'll make more money on syndication.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The ep was definitely not to blame - that ROCKED. It'll be interesting to see the +7DVR rating, because I think there's a huge crossover with the audience who'd be running to see The Hunger Games first night.

OTOH, and this may sound weird but...I have adored this show since day one, and it seems to be rocketing towards a brilliant conclusion. I think I would rather have it end amazingly this year, than drag on for another with no story left to tell, as Bab5 did. And I rather hope TPTB feel the same. Every story eventually ends, I just hope they know one way or another before the finale is in the can.

    ReplyDelete
  27. No I refuse to believe it, this is some horrible early April Fool's joke. #denial

    ReplyDelete
  28. Unfortunately, the people in charge have said they've got... what was it, SEVEN years of storyline planned out since the start of the series? That is NOT going to happen, and they've said they're going to be ending on a "season finale that could double as a series finale", like Heroes did...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Brace yourself, for this is definitely the last season of Fringe. Reconcile with it. Make peace already. When it will get officially cancelled, the pain will be easier to swallow. Peter is in his universe, Olivia is his. Everything is just fine. We had four wonderful seasons. Many good shows didn't even manage to last that long.

  30.  0.6 it is,unfortunately...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Supernatural 0.6... Be right back, going to cry now...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thank you... Yeah, I saw it... I'm rocking back and forth in the corner, hoping it'll be adjusted up in the finals...

    ReplyDelete
  33. 0.5 in one half hour  could be adjusted down to 0.5 total

    ReplyDelete
  34. Man, this week has been very bad for genre serialized shows.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 0.6....Really!?Why?
When do the final numbers come out?I'm not watching The Hunger Games until I see at least a 0.7 for Supernatural!

    ReplyDelete
  36.  No man it's always been a 5 year plan!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Let's pray for an adjustment on Monday for SPN ...

    ReplyDelete
  38. FOX decided to say goodbuy to FRINGE the day they moved the show on Fridays. Really Bad Choice considering the VCR ratings (which indicate that people can't watch live but still watch the show afterwards). If you really want to save this amazing show US viewers really need to watch it Live. Only few things can be done by the rest of us, and last night's twitter trend #WereYouBelong was a success worldwide. I still hope and I have repeatedly argued tha Warner Bros will realize the great impact this show has worldwide and will decide to take it to the next level and that is... a movie.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Grimm gets more viewers but a lower rating.

    System makes perfect sense xD

    ReplyDelete
  40. Another significant factor was probably summer-like temperatures in a good chunk of the U.S. this week.  When it warms up, a lot of people go out on Friday nights rather than stay home.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow that was a horrible rated evening, even for a friday. Sucks for Fringe and Supernatural but I doubt supernatural is in any trouble for renewal.

I'm positive Fringe will climb back up as it airs it's 7 remaining episodes without interuption. As long as is back up to a 1.2 within 2/3 weeks. I'm still in denial :p Kitchen Nightmare also dropped bigtime, like .5 of their normal rating.. let's see if it picks up coming weeks! I doubt they will announce renewal or cancellation updates on fringe before May anyway

    ReplyDelete
  42. Mana the Secret Circle got better demo numbers this week than Nikita and Supernatural.

Notice In both overall and demo Supernatural Is just one point ahead of Nikita

    Demo-Nikita 0.5 Supernatural 0.6
    Overall-Nikita 1.56 Supernatural 1.57

    ReplyDelete
  43. Like they always say half hours don't mean adjustments.

I really hope it won't be adjusted down. :(

    ReplyDelete
  44. They come only on Monday evening.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'll wait till Monday then...Thanks!
I'm not worried though. It sucks because the episode was really good, but I'm still 100% sure that there will be another season.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The problem is that The Secret Circle is very lead-in dependent, kind of like how Nikita was last year.  If the CW chooses to put a new show in that slot next year, it will probably drop.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thank you for your positivism, I'm really needing that now. I'm scared. :(

    ReplyDelete
  48. If the Secret Circle Is put Into the friday night slot In fall It Is going to drop heavily.Nikita has an audence loyal that has stuck with It.It really hasn't moved from 0.5 In demo all season. The Secret Circle Isn't likely to do any better than Nikita as leadin to Supernatural. When renewal time comes It will probally be between Nikita and Secret CIrcle for the first hour on Friday.

My concern for next season Is they bring back Nikita.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Fox have 7 times chance to move fringe back to Thursday and understand thatFriday is the only problem!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Very worried for Fringe :( I know, Hunger Games, but still.

But I had to laugh a bit at Supenatural. Everyone was saying how so many Cas fans who left when he did, would come flooding back in with his return. Well, apparently not, or he doesn't make that much of a ratings impact as people thought.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I hate so badly those Nielson box who decided tohe fate of our shows....if a show lose like...I don't know...20, for a night, they said we lost X hundred of thousand of viewers -_- We don't need to really have thousands of viewers to go watch the game or the movie to make the Nielson viewers fall badly, so we just never know if/how it can affect. Its annoying

    ReplyDelete
  52. I know I'm so tired of hearing that. The ratings don't seem to indicate that at all. His absence had no effect on the ratings at all and now he comes back and we see a series low. Makes you wonder. I'm dying to see them prove that statement. The big drop in ratings actually occurred in season 6- a VERY Cas centric season- started off at about 2.8 million and the finale dropped to around 2 million.

    ReplyDelete
  53. My opinion,Cas' presence doesn't affect the ratings,in a bad or a good way. It's true that he has a large fanbase, but the majority watches the show whether he's in it or not..
So,it wasn't because of Cas that the premiere had higher numbers,it wasn't because of Cas that this episode had lower numbers and it definitely wasn't because of Cas that the ratings dropped in season 6.The show(and every single show out there) drops every year...

    ReplyDelete
  54. What did you people expect after a month hiatus? The ratings are already low, this doesn't bother me much. Fox knows Fringe has around 6 million viewers here in the US. DVR numbers will push Fringe up big time.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Not to mention everything was down tonight on Fox...Fox wont single out Fringe, they will look at the night as a whole.

    ReplyDelete
  56. On more than one front.  Everyone's going for a blackout with fan excuse bingo this weekend.  Sucks all the way around.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Fringe was the only serialized drama tonight, the other one is just a reality show, but you're right, Fox isn't exactly doing so well with their serialized dramas.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Well this is atrocious news.  Fringe won't survive at this level and Supernatural got hit much harder than Nikita, making this a series low.  Here's hoping there are major demo adjustments up on Monday.  A 0.9 and 0.6 cannot be the finals.

    ReplyDelete
  59. * O dear... I can see it even without my glasses... 0.9?????
    O_o

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yesterday was a big holiday, World Meteorological Day.  Everyone was out celebrating.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Next week is a triple holiday: Doctor's Day, Spiritual Baptist Liberation Shouter Day, and Birthday of Sultan of Kelantan.

These will definitely account for any drops in Fringe's ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I saw this headline earlier and it took me like 3 hours to even click the link and read everyone else's response. I am hoping though that Hunger Games and Basketball might play a role here and that next week we are more normal...

    ReplyDelete
  63. How could this even happen? Everyone's been so excited about it coming back. Well, we were, anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Oh God, not fan excuse bingo.
Stay the **** away from TVBTN Dahne! Or you'll end up a cynical drone!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Actually I think there were 8 years...
    O_O

    ReplyDelete
  66. Is it really a series low?  I could have sworn Supernatural got a .5 at one point, at least initially.

    ReplyDelete
  67.  I think the big drop off in season 6 was about the change in tone of the series - the noir influence, soulless Sammy, and the lack of brotherly bond in the first half.  No one even knew the season would center around Cas until the final few episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  68.  I do not know why this has hit me so hard, but it has and i just haven't been able to let it go .I've been bummed out before but i must say this is an all time low....Topping it off my husband wonders why  after spending so much of my time here i am not in the top 100.Now what do i tell him?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Supernatural just lost the "2nd of the network" to The Secret Circle this week, they got a 0.7/1.74!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Normally I’d be tearing my hair out over this, but I’m only mildly displeased. Though basketball and The Hunger Games were certainly a large factor, this episode was terrible and the ratings reflect this. If they keep pumping out this garbage, I’m not sure I even want another season.

    ReplyDelete
  71. SPN got a 0,6 once, but got ajusted at 0,7, if I remember correctly

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm not watching Fringe, so I can't tell you if the episode was good or not, but quality of the episodes aren't affecting that much the episodes. If an episode, of any serie, is great, you need to watch it to know it, but if you decided to go away you won't know and won't be counted in the live ratings

Same for a bad episode, if you stay home a friday night to watch your show, chances are you'll at least watch 'til the end.

Its more the quality of the episode of the week before that has more chances to affect the ratings than the quality of the episode of the night

    ReplyDelete
  73. Ha!  TVBTN comments are like that spiteful cousin you have to put up with every holiday.  That's why I comment a whole lot more here.  However, I must admit I often read those comments because they make me laugh.  It's definitely not a site for those with easily wounded spirits or with a strong sense of logic and fair play.  Beware, there be trolls everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Actually One Tree Hill will take that label this week just like it did last week.  OTH got a 0.8 in demo this week and last.  I still expect that SPN will adjust up to a 0.7 in the finals, effectively tying 90210 and Secret Circle.  However, I doubt that its overall numbers will be higher than TSC so that would make SPN 4th this week.  Last week it was 3rd by tying TSC in demo but having higher overall numbers.  Of course total viewers doesn't mean anything in the real scheme of things anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Not according to my spreadsheet but I could be wrong.  There were sometimes I had to back track but I think I would remember if SPN adjusted up 2 tenths instead of one.  That would have been major news for me.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Absolutely!  Fringe had 0.9 in both half hours so obviously those who watched it watched until the end.  Now if the ratings fall next week, you may be able to blame a bad episode the previous week but I doubt enough people knew it would be a "bad" episode in advance to change the ratings for it last night.  (Not that I know if it was bad or not because I still haven't gotten to view it.  Hate having to look for a link now that Cuevana was shut down.)  You just have to look at Supernatural's ratings to see that quality of an episode has no effect on its ratings.  The highest rated episode of SPN was Route 666, and I have yet to see someone put that episode in their top 10 but it sure made quite a few people's 10 worst list including mine.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Total viewers does mean something, just not as much as the demo.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Sorry, Fringies. That really sucks. :(

As for Supernatural... *cower* It's lower than normal! I thought we were going to stay steady at .07! *weeps in the corner* Oh, CW, please please don't cancel my beloved show!

I do have to say though... It looks like all the shameless, excessive promoting of Castiel didn't do that much good.

    ReplyDelete
  79. after seeing that kiss in the streets i come across this? sad day.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Yep, SPN received an 0.6 in the prelims for 7.12 Time After Time, an episode that was also heavily promoted and very favorably advance reviewed and it was adjusted up in the finals but without any increase in viewers.

    ReplyDelete
  81. IA. it was just shy of 80 degrees here and very pleasant weather. If I could have gone "out" I wouldn't sitting at home watching TV either.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I do realize that and I'm not speaking for ZoeF but on some fan sites the belief is that "Sera" ruined the show when Cas died ignobly and (so the ratings dropped ;) ) and "that will teach the showrunners a lesson" and then they said the ratings would rise when "Cas came back" and that would teach the showrunners another lesson, and that was never to mess with the Dean-Cas bond.

*Of course, its all BS* and you all are correct and the drop or rise in the ratings has nothing to do with "Cas" being in the episode or not.

*What is humorous*, and I think that's what ZoeF meant is a portion of the MC/Cas-online fandom making loud claims that demoting MC to a guest star rather than regular hurt the ratings badly and that the ratings would improve when MC rejoined the show for 3 or more episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Akk!!! tariqq :) Bite your tongue... don't even think about that (lol lol lol)

    ReplyDelete
  84. I *think* both Fringe and SPN share similar proportions of male viewers in all adult age ranges, and those males are more likely to watch basketball "live" and DVR their second choice show. Since basketball is not confined to  just CBS but air other games on (non-network) cable stations maybe their DVRs are recording those games and Fringe and SPN with both perform well in the L+3's or the L+7's.

    ReplyDelete
  85. SIGH. Oh well. I wasn't expecting anything awesome. Still stings though.

    ReplyDelete
  86. That was cute Baff, first time i laughed all day!

    ReplyDelete
  87.   LOL Now Baff, don't go pushing your luck!

    ReplyDelete
  88.  That's a good question Tom.......

    ReplyDelete
  89. I guess Harry's Law will show whether total viewers means anything on a failing network.  It's really not fair to compare the CW with networks like CBS when it comes to future plans.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Seriously... TWO HUGE NCAA games affected these #s significantly!   Is Fringe looking good?  Not exactly... but yesterday is not much of an indicator and Executives know this.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Someday I want to meet someone with a Nielson box and just yell at them for having really sucky taste in TV.

PS. Dear Cops, I've never met anyone with a Nielson box, so that hit and run was totally some other Firefly fan.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I think the B-ball games had a big impact. Top notch play and it's not worth DVRing live sports. IMHO I wouldn't read too much into it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. "Sera" took over and immediately gave us unrecognizable Sam and no direction. Instead of convincing fans she had a handle on the series it felt like she had no idea who the main characters were. It didn't inspire loyalty, and that had nothing to do with the Cas storyline.

    ReplyDelete
  94. 0.6 ZERO POINT SIXARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING MEand here I am yelling... though last night I was out watching the Hunger Game :S oups
Kinda lost interest in season 7, feels like everything in s6 was for nothing, loved last night. I'm gonna buy the dvd it pay attention while watching so maybe it will be better cause so far I liked the first 5-6 eps. and like a random one somewhere. ~ Pretty sure I'll love every scene with Misha ahah I just really love Castiel okay

    ReplyDelete
  95. Imagine if that day would have been a great seaosn 1 episode. *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  96. i sure as hell hope they bring back nikita!

    ReplyDelete
  97. OUCH! That hit me very hard yesterday. A 0.9 for Fringe. :( But then I realized:
    There is hope left!
If you look at Fringe's lead-in, "The Kitchen Nightmares" it only got a 1.0 - and it usually is 0.2-0.3 better than Fringe, right?
And who knows what the final ratings will be - could be a 1.0 which would be a lot better. :)
For myself - I won't give up until Fox cancels it.
So I will hope for next week. As I always do.

    ReplyDelete
  98. That's exactly what I meant so you did speak for me there lol. And I think the fortunes of the show rise and fall with the brother's bond and how well it's portrayed.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Yeah, I can't believe. With Cas's return, Luci and Meg...

    ReplyDelete
  100. I know.  I consider it to be the biggest fail on Kripke and the WB's part for the whole series.  After all, Asylum, Scarecrow, and Faith all came right before Route 666.  If they had extended the hiatus by one week, all those lovely viewers would have seen Faith instead of Route 666.  Who knows how many people would have been hooked into SPN then instead of seeing one of the worst episodes of them all.

    ReplyDelete
  101.  I would have been Faith! omg that ep was so good :D tsktsk
