CBS definitely wants to move The Mentalist! If this is how it performs on Fridays, they might consider making the move. It IS a drop from it's Thursday performance, but not by THAT much. I think we might know what they are planning for the fall.
I think they wanna pair it with Blue Bloods on Fridays and make POI pair with Elementary (if it makes it).. but I honestly don't like the Friday spot for TM .. & it might keep dropping there :(
I'm not so sure this was simply CBS testing a new time slot for The Mentalist; it could be, but I think they were burning off an episode so Person Of Interest can have a two hour finale in May.
I know that has been the talk but I am not so sure. Why would they move POI to 10PM? It's doing as well as most of their 9PM dramas are. It would seem that it'd be logical to keep it where it is and launch a new show after it. If CBS wants to expand it's comedy block, I think they'd best do it elsewhere. And I think that might be what they're gonna do. POI's ratings boom as of late might've quashed their original plans. And who knows, if UB goes midseason again, we might see the Friday 8PM slot become home to another "bubble" drama.
POI is the only drama that's really on it's way up. They'd be fools to mess with that.
yeah but comedies on CBS tend to do better than dramas where else would they expand their comedy? they have monday 8 -> 10 already and 10 pm comedies dont work so good Wednesday ABC has comedies and they have survivor and criminal minds stable, tuesday NCIS and NCIS LA do amazingly etc. and iNBC's thursday comedies are weak and dying CBS can have "the" thursday night comedy block they already do amazingly with TBBT on thursday 8 pm so it makes sense to expand that block
But the problem is that they have yet to find a comedy that holds onto TBBT audience. The comedies may do better than the dramas, but POI is growing into a mammoth. They'd be dumb to mess with a show that's essentially inching closer to being the network's 2nd highest rated drama in both the demo and overall viewers.
Where else could they put comedies? I'd say they might wanna try Friday's at 8. If comedies do so much better than dramas, then Friday might make the most sense. Their dramas rarely, if ever, get above a 2.0 on Friday's and that's on a good day. I'd say they should just keep 1-2 of their bubble comedies and put them there. Even if they only got 2.5ish ratings, that'd be a significant increase over what CBS has had there this year. Plus, it's better than shoving their biggest drama to 10PM. Why do they have to have TWO comedy BLOCKS? Have their Monday comedy block and then have an hour of comedy on 2 other nights of the week. POI is getting better and better in the ratings and moving it could ruin that momentum. Plus, premiering a new show after POI would be a lot smarter than premiering it after a new comedy that may or may not succeed. CBS simply would be better off keeping POI where it is and sticking a new comedy hour somewhere else. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The closest thing CBS has to something "broken" is their Friday night lineup. Since comedies do much better than dramas, it seems logical to try some comedies on Friday night.
Their biggest drama isn't POI,its NCIS.And what is the big deal about moving it to 10,pm,its not like they are moving it to sat.night's.Its only an hour difference,if people like it that much they will follow it,or at the very least record it.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
