I recently got turned on to Justified because they were running ads in the movie theater. Had to buy Seasons 1 and 2. A really awesome show, and yes, like a number of really great shows, underrated.
The new episodes of two of my favorite sitcoms, Raising Hope and Breaking In.
Given their ratings, I realize only one of these two brilliant comedies will get picked up by FOX for next season so I enjoy both of them while they last. Given that Breaking In's première flopped last week in Raising Hope's former slot, I assume the Chances will be back for season 3 (which makes me super happy). FOX wouldn't dare cancelling both shows, but they're not a charity either so they won't keep Breaking In running (as much I'd love to).
Not up to date on Cougar Town yet, but I'm getting there (episode 2.05 watched). It's good. Not as good as Raising Hope or Breaking In, but still pretty fun to watch. Never been a huge fan of Scrubs either, but in small doses it was always a lot of fun, like CT now, but it never got to the stage of adoration (that I have for Arrested Development, Community, Curb your Enthusiasm, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, etc).
Justified is on my watchlist, too. Episode 3.09 will go on my "DVR". I'll start watching the season in 3 weeks ! Tuesday night seems to be "brilliant basic cable cop drama" night, AKA a course on how to make a great copshow, since there's also SouthLAnd. I still have to watch season 3 before I delve into the current season though.
Far from Justified and SouthLAnd, there's Ringer, which is excruciatingly bad. I just watched episode 1.13, meaning that I've just spent 40 minutes asking myself which of my organs I should rip off first, the eyes or the ears. My desk will remember the rape storyline (because I kept banging my head on it for minutes when the writers unfolded a few twists). Like everyone I enjoy a little masochism, but not when it's as painful as that. I'm not the least bit interested in what's at stake. Besides, it's going to get cancelled.
There are more pressing matters, namely Milan/Marseille tonight. Allez l'OM :). Marseille won the first leg (1-0), a draw is enough (and scoring one goal would force Milan to score 3 goals to go in quarter-finals), but let's be careful. Marseille's in big trouble recently (since the first leg, in Ligue 1, they lost four times, drew one time and didn't win). It's kind of funny, Marseille is having a 3-part season : a horrific start (games 1-6), an unbelievably good return (games 7-21) and now they're back to their August/September level (games 22-26). I hope there's a happier fourth and final act coming up soon for them, because otherwise they can kiss Champions League goodbye for next season (let's hope they'll get to play at least two more CL games this season by qualifying tonight). They clearly didn't have luck on their side these past few weeks, but that doesn't explain everything. Loïc Rémy was injured, that does explain a lot, but now he's back, so let's hope his association with Valbuena will work as well now as it did before February.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Raising Hope. Raising Hope. Raising Hope.
ReplyDeleteMaybe New Girl too...
The River and Southland
ReplyDeleteJustified!
ReplyDeleteIf there is a more underrated show on TV I have not seen it!
A few other things hit the DVR...

Justified
I don't think Justified is under-rated. It's acclaimed by both critics and fans. In my opinion, Justified is the best show on air right now.
ReplyDeleteI guess you're right... Maybe under-watched or under-appreciated by the masses would have been a better choice of words?
ReplyDeleteNew Girl, Cougar Town, and Ringer.
