Yiiihaaa. Last Community-less Thursday of the season, it's a Christmas miracle ! Regionals, here we come !
To pressure NBC into putting Community back on the air, I haven't been going to college for 3 months now. I'm secretly convinced that's what made them put it back on the air next week. I probably should go back now.
Otherwise, I'll watch the same shows as last week (and the week before that, and the week before that), except if there's repeats.
I especially will not miss a second of the best comedy on network TV right now, Parks and Recreation. It's too bad to see it go for 5 weeks, but let's look at the bright side : Community will be back in the lineup next week (and thus it will be the best comedy on network TV) and starting April 19, with the return of P&R, the real NBC Thursday comedy block will be finally be here. 7 months after the beginning of the 2011-2012 season, that's about time !
I will also delight myself with a new Archer. I'll also watch the new Unsupervised but for this show I will force myself. When the season is over, if by any chance FX decides to grant that show a 2nd season (all signs point to "no"), I'm sure I won't watch it if it doesn't get much better by episode 1.13, because it is not good and eventually my patience has its limits. You blew it, Sunny writers.
Also, Colbert + Ferguson and the new Inside Comedy (featuring Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner). Pissed that I haven't seen the Inside Comedy episode featuring Larry David : when the series and the guests were announced, the LD episode was the one I was the most eager to see, and that particular episode didn't turn up anywhere (as far as I know) ! Sad but true.
Speaking of sad but true, yesterday's loss in Nicosia (1-0 after extra time ; Lyon lost on penalties (4-3)) was humiliating. Lyon (having won the first leg 1-0 at home 3 weeks ago) started to really control the game when it was the 30-minute extra time, and that is unacceptable. It was a Champions League game, damn it, you ought to be better than that, they're capable of so much than what they've shown yesterday. When you can't beat Nicosia you don't deserve to go further in the competition, and kudos to them for beating a diminished Lyon, they deserve that qualification when you look at last night's game. I think it was one of the worst performances ever by a french club in Champions League, and the newspapers today tend to agree. Last December, Lyon came back from the dead by winning 7-1 in Zaghreb, qualifying them for this round of 16. They didn't seem to take last night's game as seriously.
2000 — 2012. Yes, Nicosia may have scored just a single goal, not seven, but still, Lyon is out and it's nothing short of the end of an era for them. L'Olympique Lyonnais has been a major player in french football from 1998 to 2011, always finishing in the top 3 each season, and the club dominated our championship for 7 straight seasons within that timeframe (champion of Ligue 1 seven times in a row from 2001 to 2008 !). Lyon has been in Champions League each year since 2000 (only Manchester United & Real Madrid are on a longer streak - tie with Arsenal), in round of 16 (at least) each year since 2003, in semi-finals in 2010… it was bound to end at some point, and it ended last night. Because let's face it, there's barely a 7% chance for Lyon to be on the podium by the end of the season (podium means Champions League next season). I hardly imagine Montpellier will collapse, and so the third place (now occupied by Lille) becomes the only option, and that's funny because in 2 days Lyon is playing at home against… Lille. One of the most decisive games of their season, undoubtedly. They better get their act together, otherwise the dark spiral they're caught into for the past 2 months will continue.
Just a few comedies. Considering giving up 30 Rock fro awhile. Maybe I'll marathon it when the season is over. Cause right now, I'm just not feeling it.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
