Worst Episode. I'm going to try to calm down before I write a 2000-word diatribe. But Lauren is acting too dumb for words. Nadia tried to stab you (not very effectually--I mean seriously lame--, but still she made half-hearted stabbing motions) lock your door, and if she comes back, call the Ash's guards or sedate her or something, don't just sit down and chat like nothing happened. And when she goes crazy begging for help, don't totally forget that you have a serum that you thought would help her. I have no idea where she went to med school, but this took the rag off the bush of totally crap medical decisions on her part. It's not like Bo couldn't have incapacitated Nadia without killing her. Bo wasn't willing to kill the Glave but Nadia is no problem???? I'm stopping. I swear.
Points for Kenzi, Hale, and Lachlan for being totally the only parts that didn't make me pull my hair out and scream at the screen.
They put so much in one ep and the season isn't over yet. We might get some more info about the situation in next ep. I wasn't surprised by Lauren flipping so easily about Nadia. She did the same thing about Bo two weeks ago in the spider ep.
I didn't mind the action (after the last few episodes thank goodness we got somewhere and people were talking to each other), and I never thought Nadia was long for this life, but the way they went about it was just silly.
You are right, Lauren's behavior does remind me of how she acted in Arachnofaebia, where she was also a horrible doctor--doesn't notice symptoms, calls in a hit without having any idea how to or even if the creature can be killed, sucks at giving physicals, has no ability to solve anything on her own, can't make a surgical incision, lies to the girl she's flirting with to make herself morally superior, and is a general liability. If Nadia has a FEVER, she isn't perfectly healthy. And there are more systems in the human body than red blood cells, which have nothing to do with immune response. If Lauren could put two and two together, she would have realized the connection between Nadia and the Garuda and alerted that Ash (she's good at that remember).
Well, at least she's consistent. Doesn't help Nadia much of course, but...yeah. Thanks for pointing that out.
Maybe Bo will be the stable influence on Lauren's life. Bo seems to be that kind of person for both Lauren and Dyson (even for a vagabond who had a rough couple of years).
someone help me out of this crap hole... i am sooooooo sick of lauren acting all whiny.. shes really getting on my nerves.. i mean come on.... i just want to scream at the tv.. get a grip woman your not that vulnerable and weak... grow a spine will ya...other than her great ep..... oh yeah and come on i need dyson and hale.....on screen more....
If she hasn't influenced her yet, I don't think she will.
Bo was a game changer for Dyson, ie, his one love. Bo didn't have the same impact on Lauren who was already in a stable, long-term, "give up my life for love" relationship.
As Mandav brought up, I have to admit they've kept Lauren pretty consistent. Unfortunately. But I think there is always room for growth, especially in the strength department.
Bo wasn't willing to kill Nadia. She unwillingly did out of instinct because she attacked Lauren - just like in 2.08, when Bo nearly killed everyone in the room because Lauren's life was in danger. It is beyond her control. That is probably part of the reason why she looked so shocked and walked away. They do seem to be hinting at something in regards to that because they only ever used Lauren to explore said instincts/darkness. And we do know Lauren is supposed to play an important part in the battle so they might use her as a sacrificial lamb to get Bo to defeat the enemy.
Or, you know, maybe they won't because continuity really isn't their thing and Lauren was, again, another plot device. Agree with everything else you pointed out.
I think we were supposed to accept Bo killing Nadia as an "in the heat of the moment" kinda thing, but Nadia was unarmed, human, and had already "tried" to kill Lauren twice that day (so not a very good assassin). Bo purposefully took back out her knife and stabbed her. She could have succubused her, she could have touched her, she could have knocked her unconscious, but she didn't do any of those things. She pulled out her knife and stabbed her in the heart.
I don't think that Lauren is bringing out some darkness in Bo--she seemed perfectly conscious the entire time, just stunned that she'd killed Nadia. Like in many genre shows, emotion tends to bring out power ups: when Aoife almost killed Dyson, Bo learned to blow chi, then the thing with the lich. Both were situations that forced her into calling on more of her faeself. But I never understood why Lauren never talked to Bo about how she pulled the chi and what she said. I put it in the Lauren is too secretive pile, but I'm not sure that's where it really belonged.
That's just the way it seemed to me. I wouldn't be surprised if Lauren ends up upset that Bo killed Nadia, particularly if it turns out the serum could have cured her. We are looking for a betrayal in the finale, and they do like to use Lauren for those.
We've had flashbacks from fae characters, but maybe they will do something for Lauren's experience in Africa? Could explain indecision for her character..
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm pissed that there was NO DYSON!!!
ReplyDeleteGod, poor Kensi. :(
ReplyDeleteOn a more positive note, thank goodness for Hale!
No. No. And no.
ReplyDeleteYou're upset? But Nadia's dead....
ReplyDeleteSo worth staying up after waking up at 5a.m. to snowboard all day..

Maybe it is better that he wasn't associated with this cluster fae.
ReplyDeleteGlad I wasn't the only one annoyed with what they did with Lauren/Nadia/Bo scenario.
ReplyDeleteWow, that was an intense episode. Great acting all around. Can't wait for next week :)
ReplyDeleteloved the episode but the death scenes were awkward and forced
ReplyDeleteThe Kenzi storyline pretty much stole the show.
ReplyDeleteeverything about nadia has always felt awkward and forced. surely it was no different this time. hated it.

yeah this episode and the last few made me dislike Lauren abit
ReplyDeleteBlame it on the writers. They basically assassinated Lauren and Dyson's characters this season.
ReplyDeletei have to admit that i have never really liked Lauren from the start.. seems shes always been that way....
ReplyDeleteIf she hasn't influenced her yet, I don't think she will.

I care about good writing and storytelling. This episode lacked both.
