Keri Russell has landed the female lead in The Americans, an FX drama pilot from Joe Weisberg and Graham Yost, with Gavin O'Connor attached to direct.
Set in the early 1980s, this project centers on two KGB spies, Phillip and Elizabeth, posing as married Americans in suburban Washington, DC. Despite their arranged union, the couple's bond grows more passionate and genuine by the day, but is constantly tested by the escalation of the Cold War.
Complicating their relationship further is Phillip's growing sense of affinity for America's values and the couple's two children, who know nothing about their parents' true identity. Casting continues for Russell's onscreen husband.

ReplyDeleteOh Yost is doing this, excellent
ReplyDeleteSounds really cool! I have been missing Russel on my screen, I really liked her in Running Wilde, it brought all those Felicity feelings back!
ReplyDeleteGreat casting - will keep my eye on this one.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting consept and a great lead! Off to a good start.....
ReplyDeleteOne of the cable pilots I'm currently most looking forward too even though I've never been a huge fan of Russell. But to be honest I haven't seen her in a lot, so I may change my mind depending on her performance.
