Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be one of the people deciding whether to continue or rather, discontinue a show? Over the last couple of weeks I’ve put together ratings graphs for 5 shows on each major network. The shows were randomly selected; however I can tell you that some extremely popular shows are present. “In the Hot Seat” lets you choose which shows to Renew or Cancel. This is going to be a little bit different from a normal renew/cancel poll. I’m not going to tell you which shows are which. You will have to vote purely off of the graphs and numbers. The best advice I can give for judging these would be to look for a general trend, but make sure it’s a good trend. Ha-ha. Now obviously a show on NBC vs CBS would have major differences in numbers so I’ll have to tell you which network it is on. Also, yes you are allowed to cheat by using the ratings tables if you wish but that would destroy the validity of the experiment so I ask that you follow the instructions please. I’m planning to post the first Network, probably ABC, tomorrow. Polling lasts 2 days for each network. So keep your eyes peeled and watch out to defend your show's honor! Just be careful. You might end up cancelling one of your favorites. I'll post all of the shows you have "cancelled" or "renewed" after we've gone through all of the major networks. If you have any questions on the game just sound off in the comments and I’ll be happy to help explain it more in depth.

Thanks Brandon. Sounds like a lot of fun. Will be interesting to see the poll results and the reveals at the end.
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this.
Cool idea
ReplyDeletei feel as if fringe is doomed already in this hahaha. Great idea :)
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a really interesting idea! I'm looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! :)
ReplyDeleteI know Fringe's ratings by heart so I'll recognize it anyway ;D
Looking forward the first polls. :)
Sounds Awesome
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea, and it'll see how good we are at predicting :)
i like this :)
ReplyDeleteThis seems like fun
ReplyDeleteok let the game begin!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea ! Gonna be fun.
ReplyDeleteHa! Great idea. It will give us a better idea of what networks go through since they don't have anything personally invested in one show over another unlike fans.
ReplyDeleteFringe and Gossip Girl if I had to guess. That is if both of them are in the contest.
ReplyDeleteOh, I like this already. This blind, unbiased selection process is a good idea.
ReplyDeletethis is a brilliant idea :) I can't wait to see how the polls turn out. I think that it will be surprising
ReplyDeleteAs someone from the UK who doesn't know much about different networks, why would shows on NBC vs CBS have such big differences in numbers?
ReplyDeleteGenerally speaking CBS is a more popular network than NBC, but especially this year because of how many of NBC's shows have more or less failed. Opposite of that many of CBS's freshman series have performed fairly well, with only a few exceptions.
ReplyDeletethis sounds like a cool idea, i fear i might cancel some of my favorite show hopefully not though lol
ReplyDeleteYes, I'll play. And I have no desire to cheat by using the ratings. No fun in that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing along. I'm really interested in how they'll turn out.
ReplyDeleteReally cool idea!
ReplyDeleteLOL! This is great! Like a big Riddle! I love it! So as I have some understanding of ratings, let me see if I get this game right:
ReplyDeleteWe will know the network but not the name of the show.
We only have a graph you'll go for this "game" to vote for it.
We could check the ratings (but that'd be cheating! I won't be checking) BUT if we're familiar with the ratings our fav shows have, we could "recognize" it, right?
Did I leave anything?
Oh Sweet! This is a great idea i'm game!!....
ReplyDeleteAnd let the games begin!!
That all sounds right. The other thing that I forgot to mention was that I'll include an average 18-49.
ReplyDeleteOh good, something else to keep me from cleaning my house. lol
ReplyDeleteexcept that TvLine has both fringe and GG as a sure thing
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying that they really will be cancelled but since the idea of this "blind" contest is to use purely ratings to decide which shows get renewed and which ones get canceled, it's fairly certain these two will go first in this contest. Ratings wise they would both deserve to be canceled, and I'm saying this as someone who loves and misses Fringe.
ReplyDeleteThis might be interesting. i think I'll play.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cool idea! I'm very excited to get started.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds cool!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little scared but it's a neat idea to see how the numbers speak, as opposed to the content of a show which is indeed easier to defend.
ReplyDeleteY'all had better renew Supernatural for a 8th season
ReplyDeleteOoooooh! Fun! Awesome idea!
ReplyDeleteFUN!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds cool!!
