Steve McGarrett’s love life is looking up. Michelle Borth, who appeared in five episodes of Hawaii Five-0‘s first two seasons as McGarrett’s squeeze, will join the CBS procedural as a regular when it returns for a third season in the fall. She will reprise her role as McGarrett’s girlfriend, Lt. Catherine Rollins. Borth, repped by CAA, New Wave Entertainment and Marcy Morris, first guest starred in the fourth episode of Hawaii Five-0‘s first season and was most recently seen in an episode last month

Yeahhhhhh!
ReplyDeleteWow!.....And let the uproar begin! At least everyone will have 6 months to get use of the idea!
ReplyDeleteYAY! This makes me so incredibly happy :D
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!! this is the best news ever!! made me sooooo happy!! Yayyyyyyy!!!!
ReplyDeleteCool. Unlike Lori we are used to her character and she fits in without taking away from the other 4.
ReplyDeleteYES! Finally! I adore them together!
ReplyDeleteomg soooo happy about this! been waiting forever!
ReplyDeleteBest news Ever!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if want. I like Catherine, but not Steve/Catherine.
ReplyDeleteHuh. Well that's sort of interesting. Wonder how she will fit into the over dynamic in a more permanent basis and what her role will actually be. Also, she's such a pretty girl. Stunning, really.
ReplyDeleteThis is great news! Michelle Borth as Lt. Catherine Rollins on H50!
ReplyDeleteFantastic news. Catherine has been so grossly underused and she has so much chemistry with Steve.
ReplyDeleteThis is great news! They should have done this a long time ago...
ReplyDeleteI love Steve and Catherine together. There is actual chemistry. Series regular does not mean every episode, Max is a regular and not in every episode. They have established the character, and she was not shoved down our throats like the Lori character was. Steve someone to rely on outside of the team, Joe may be the one killed off, and Mary is always in trouble. Catherine can be the calm in McG's life, God knows he needs it. Congratulations to Michelle, can't wait for next season.
ReplyDeleteUgh. No. Borth's character is so boring. Her time on Combat Hospital didn't help either. Her lead character there was just as dull. H50 already has enough problems writing for Kono and making her interesting so this is a bad idea. They need a really dynamic actress that can bring a lot to a role on her own to make up for the fact that Hawaii Five-0 is TERRIBLE at writing female characters.
ReplyDeleteI have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to please you. :P
ReplyDeleteHeh. Well, they're doing well enough to keep me watching.
ReplyDeleteI'm just so critical because I see a lot of potential in this show that is ignored or wasted. Hawaii Five-0 is a decent show but it could be SO much better than it is right now.
Most of us find middle ground though. For example: on Nikita Lyndsy is great at emotionally-driven scenes, but the times when she needs to be cold she doesn't sell it all that well.
ReplyDeleteOn Lost Girl, Ksenia Solo can do comedy pretty well, but in large doses she can get very annoying.
We've learned to take the bad with the good and not expect it to be just right all the time. For all an actor's strengths, they usually have one glaring weakness that shows itself no matter how good the writing is.
A lot of people like Catherine because of the chemistry she has with Steve. And they really do have good chemistry. The fact of the matter is that we haven't seen her for any extended period of time to see if she can bring anything new to the table. Afterall, how exciting do you expect her to be when most of her scenes don't last for more than a few minutes and she has very little involvement in the plot.
Look at this as her audition, to see what she can do with more screen time.
I love this news. She should have been the regular this season instead of Lori. Catherine was more interesting in her 5 appearances than Lori was all season. Plus, she is actually useful.
ReplyDeleteI love Catherine with Steve. The best part of this is that we won't have to suffer any Will They/Won't They? because the already are together.
No, the majority of the fanbase actually likes Catherine and wanted her to be a regular instead of Lori.
ReplyDeleteMy problem is much more focused on the choices made by the producers and the material that the writers give the actresses to work with more than the actresses themselves.
ReplyDeleteI fully believe that if the writers and producers did a better job of conceptualizing and writing their characters, both Lauren German and Larisa Oleynik would have made really solid additions to the show. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. Until I see evidence to the contrary, I don't expect them to do anything different for Borth and her character.
They better write her well since the character already has a fanbase, otherwise there's going to be a shitstorm that will make the Lori-hating look like a light breeze.
ReplyDeleteI agree, she is already a love interest, we know where she is coming from, and she has more acting ability and chemistry in the short amount of time she has been shown with everyone on the cast, then Lori did in 16 episodes. I am looking forward to this, and think that TPTB have learned their lessons with Lori, and will continue to develop this character as it should be. Most people already like her.
ReplyDeleteThe way everyone freaked out about Lori i thought the they would react the same way.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they aren't making a fuss,i didn't care for Lori either but it got ridiculous after a while....
the fling works, but nooooo to a relationship!
ReplyDeleteI suspect that Michelle Borth's presence will be looked upon much more favorably and her character will be given much more latitude than the others because, like you said, she already has a fanbase.
ReplyDeleteJust like Kono, I suspect they'll give Catherine a few lines in every episode, they'll give her stuff to do in the background, she'll make doe eyes at McGarrett every once in a while and everyone (except for me, of course) will be satisfied.
"They better write her well since the character already has a fanbase,

look like a light breeze."
I wish there were more viewers like you that hold higher expectations for this show.
Michelle was excellent in the movie The Timer. Her character was really dark and kick-ass-
ReplyDeleteI do like Catherine but not sure how she'll be in a regular capacity - I liked seeing her guest slots but I'm not sure how she'll fit into the team. Still, I've always liked her so I'm happy to see how it goes.
ReplyDeleteIt's also nice to see H50 being sensible and adding a series regular who has been proven to be popular with viewers rather than adding a random character without testing her out first. Hope they make a better job of developing Catherine's character.
Yay! I love Michelle Borth, and I love Catherine in the show...
ReplyDeleteCould adding Michelle mean that Kono is going to be the team member killed on the last episode?
ReplyDeleteDON'T SAY THAT. DON'T EVEN THINK IT!! My nerves are frayed enought as it is, thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteI think Lori will be the one that dies. I hear the actress is contracted for one more episode, but I don't know how that is.
ReplyDeleteReally? Where did you hear that she's contracted for one more episode?
ReplyDeletejust a couple of random people on twitter and IMDB. Take it with a grain of salt, but its not impossible.
ReplyDeleteHello, I'm happy that Michelle Borth is a regular, but keep her out of the team. I don't know what the problem is witht he writer and producers butting in with Steve/Danny chemistry, we saw what it did to the team with especially Lori, Jenna was not to bad. The ratings mid season were not that good. I hope that Grace is not leaving because I know last year I read that she wanted to leave the show, it won't be the same without her. I don't know, but I have a feeling the producers want to get 5.0 cancelled. If the waiting of 9 million and 2.5 will keep it from cancelling the show, if it continues in that way the show won't pass season 3. Hopefully the writing will get better but I doubt it
ReplyDeleteGreat news for Michelle Borth, talented and beautiful, on being cast as a regular character for season 3 of H50! Lt. Catherine Rollins has a wonderful on-screen chemistry with Lt. Commander Steve McGarrett! Season 3's ratings will be much higher! CBS has already signed H50 for syndication! H50 will need at least 4 seasons for the syndication deal! I believe that the executive producers and writers are doing a fine job, and will have to come up with even more intriguing and fascinating stories and character development in future episodes and seasons of H50. This will happen! I have confidence in the creative team of writers and executive producers on H50! Best wishes and good luck to the talented cast and creative crew on H50!
ReplyDeleteLove her, her character and the Steve/Catherine dynamic... now I'm just curious to see how they'll work her in full time..
ReplyDeleteI sure hope not. One of the reasons why Lori was so disliked was because she took screen time away from Kono. I actually didn't mind Lori at all and never really understood all the hate directed at her. Did I love her? No. But I didn't mind her. Since Kono has always had a fan base, I think killing her off would be a huge mistake, and I would prefer to not have to go through an obvious big mistake again (hello, Sarah losing her memory in the Chuck series finale) on another one of my favorite shows.
ReplyDeletevery happy to hear this!!!
ReplyDeleteYes but the rating aren't very high, they screwed up the show big time at the beginning of the year. The last few shows were great. Hopefully the show will be better season 3, Ratings 9.31 to 10 million and 2.5 is not very high they are barely making it. The writing has to change but not the chemistry between Danny and Steve that is what makes up the show, too many add ons.
ReplyDeleteYes!!! Love Cath and Steve *happy dance*
ReplyDeleteNo, no, no!!! I like Steve with kono. I thought that's what they were heading with the looks those 2 have been giving each other. Like Catherine, but, no no no. Steve and kono yes yes yes.
ReplyDeletethe ending was the best tv i have ever watched! Its best when steve has a love life!!
ReplyDeleteMay I be brutally honest? I don't want her in there. Not so much because I didn't like her character, but this show is clearly built on the Danny/Steve bromance. Throw a chick in the middle and this will only turn into another NCIS:La.
ReplyDeletewhen does season 3 start in us??????
ReplyDeleteH5-0 starts in September, anywhere from the 13th on,we haven't gotten an exact date yet!
ReplyDeleteNow this will be good.
ReplyDeleteKono's gonna die.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't be happier ^.^
ReplyDeletenonono.. i want Lori to be regular in stead.... by maybe both will be that?? could be nice..I like the emotion that exist between Steve and Lori... i Don't like Cath... don like the character..
ReplyDeleteI understands same here... Steve and Catherine is not a good couple... ii don't like Cath character together with Steve...
ReplyDeleteMost people won't agree with me but I liked Steve and Lori together... I wish she has lasted longer in the show to explorer thier relationship
ReplyDeleteOh please no I don't want magarret to be sucked into a relationship he has enough to worry about right now
ReplyDeletekono and steve must be together!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the character Catherine but I don't like the romance they are trying to build between her and Steve. Giving one of the main characters a steady love interest or live in lover never works.
ReplyDeleteBorth's character is likeable but needs to get a spine. McGarrett's a part-time boyfriend who comes around when he wants (1) navy intel and (2) sex. It kinda looks like he's using her or at least not making her any kind of priority. Yes, I know they're actors and not real people but that's what I've always thought when I saw her character on the show. He ain't much of a boyfriend. And I agree with nuncajamas - it's a bromance show.
ReplyDeleteHaven't started season 3 yet but I'm curious to see how they include her. I don't dislike her character from what I've seen so far and she makes Steven happy so why not? I guess I'll wait and see =P
ReplyDeleteFantastic news. Catherine has been so grossly underused and she has so much chemistry with Steve.
