Joel Wyman confirmed that the finale is a two parter, and that he will direct one half with Joe Chapelle directing the other:

    Hopefully can also serve as a series finale, I'd hate for the series to end on a cliffhanger if not renewed (and it probably wont be).

    Me too, it's great news! There's always so much going on in the finales! I loved 3x22, but I felt like it was packed in one hour when it really needed two. Having a two-hour finale gives momentum to the last hour.
