Welcome to

WELCOME BACK, FRINGE FANATICS!
We were treated to an excellent episode that ran the gambit from being touching and tragic, to completely crazy and violent! Let's start with Olivia: IS she or ISN'T she our Olivia? They've all but confirmed that somehow this IS the Olivia we've (along with Peter) been waiting for the entire season, as you can see she is no longer the isolated, cold, and sometimes belligerent Olivia we were introduced to in the beginning of the season.
Of course, Peter doesn't see it that way. Until he knows he is back in is timeline with his Olivia, and his world around him, he won't trust himself around her, for fear of repeating the mistake he made with the Red-headed Olivia from the Red Universe. This speaks volumes for Peter's integrity and his dedication to his Olivia. It's quite a stoic and noble decision to make in the face of such a similar Olivia. Seeing her face as he rejected her pretty much made for the low point of my week. Anna Torv's ability to convey Olivia's vulnerability remains one of the most poignant aspects of this multifaceted and brilliant show.
That whole last scene was made even more poignant by the preceding events, in which we witnessed Alt-Nina trying to coax Olivia into activating her powers, under the instruction of the one and only (well, maybe not the ONE and ONLY but it's a turn of phrase...) David Robert Jones. The only person that will remain civil in the midst of torturing you, while his face continues to melt off from his previous science experiments.
Then, something I've waited about 3 years for FINALLY happened: Olivia fried a man alive WITH HER MIND! (Which reminds me of something completely different when Liara T'Soni threatens a source that she will "flay him alive with her mind" in Mass Effect-oh sorry, that has owned my existence for the last 3 weeks now)...She killed a man, caused DRJ, and Alt-Nina to flee to another dimension, and got away from the facility ALL because of her love for Peter. I remember her saying that she went along with it the whole time just so that they would bring him to her. Annnnddd once again, we all know how he left things with her. (sadface)
So, onto the other main plot point of episode 4.14... WE KNOW WHO THE OBSERVERS ARE!
In a mostly awesome segment, Peter jumps into the mind of the seemingly dying September to get answers. Of course even though he demands answers for a lot of things that we as viewers want to know, September aptly deflects them, and basically states that he's from one of the possible futures of humanity. (Yeah, so I'm glad I'm not from that timeline...I like looking normal and having hair...) And that (and this is me trying to remember back a few weeks) he needs to GO HOME. So Peter's like "Yeah, so I already know that. How the **** do I get there?" Cue September poofing and Peter waking up, pretty much only knowing 1 new thing: he had a son, a son that pretty much ruined the timeline forever, and was therefore erased, like Peter himself. Outside of the emotional payoff, we're still in the dark about a lot of things that I hope we'll get to later this season!
We start a thread of 8 new episodes that lead to the season (series?) finale!
And what a way to start off, with an episode titled "A Short Story about Love?"
A SHORT STORY ABOUT LOVE
So, I really don't know where this episode will go. I think that I have purposely avoided everything except...well (SPOILER) the picture of Olivia and Peter totally smooching out in the open....
But seriously, I want this episode to be completely new and unspoiled outside of that one thing, so I have purposely been ignoring anything about it...even the press release. So I am expecting something truly emotionally and mentally engaging.

As Lost has taught me there is no greater power than love, here's hoping those crazy kids Olivia and Peter feel the full force of its power
ReplyDeleteSo many of us have been coming up with theories about what's going to happen tonight (me too!). I can't wait to see how many of our theories are right. So, is Anson going to suck love out of people because he's deprived? Probably not, but that was one of mine.
ReplyDeleteAh, you got sucked in too? What's your take on the ending? I hear it's a doozy.
ReplyDeleteI am ready for the party!!!
ReplyDeletethat was interesting! Wison
ReplyDeleteBeth did you see where Darth went?
ReplyDeleteWheres Darque?
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed how Pinkner always says that whether Peter is in the right or wrong timeline will become irrelevant after tonight's show?
ReplyDeleteWhat if Peter will decide to stay in this new timeline no matter if it's right or wrong. And that could change this timeline into the original one if this is the wrong one :D...it's about choices people make :D
I know it's a very weird idea but it's Fringe we're talking about :D
Yes! I was hoping you would post! I can't wait for tonight! I am at a point where I don't really care which way it is, as along as we start to get a bigger clue about what is happening!
ReplyDelete******Also want to remind everyone only a few days left to summit your "FRINGE Season 5 Hand Message" Campaign Picture, as specified here: http://www.spoilertv.com/2012/03/fringe-season-5-fan-campaign-send-in.html
Just 3 and a half hours to go! It's been a long four weeks!
I think anything's possible and I think as long as they find some way to let Peter and "Olivia" as we knew them be together, I think fans will follow the show anywhere!
ReplyDeleteI know I will! I'm with Fringe since the very beginning and I loved almost every turn they made and I'm staying with it 'till the end. I'm fringie to the bone :D
ReplyDeleteI am "Here"! I have had "She's doing fine" in my head all day long!
ReplyDeleteShe looks a lot like Alicewith nowhere to goand no white rabbit to followshe's falling fast nowand she's talking slowshe's gonna kick the habit tomorrowtomorrow
Happy Fringe Friday!
Usually loss and heartbreak make the most vengeful villains (Walternate/Nero/MIB) So I am sure your right! XD

ReplyDeletehttp://www.fringepedia.net/wiki/Beyond_The_FRINGE
You made it Ricky!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Robert
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty good at school, mostly straight A*s BUT THIS SHOW IS SO CONFUSING IT'S UNREAL!!!!!! Yet i love it unreal amounts. Tonight's episode should be above the normal levels of epicness we usually expect from fringe as the previews were just MINDBLOWING. And they only left me more confused and sad at the conversation nina and olivia had, which is why i can't wait till tonight!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've missed you my friend.did you get my FB message i sent you while you were in the mist of moving. Are you all settled in now?
ReplyDeleteI exist... Now which timeline is this?
ReplyDeleteYep. well sort of. There are still boxes full of crap I need to do something with, and that matter of getting my couch up to the second floor. But I'm in and pretty comfortable now. (there was already a couch in the apartment, but yeah mine is coming soon this one is hideous)
ReplyDeleteIn honor of Fringe Friday weirdness, I am watching the X files movie until Fringe comes on.
ReplyDeleteRick,do you know where Darque is??
ReplyDeleteI think he's trapped in another timeline at the moment too, I just barely escaped myself today.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I have no clue, I imagine he'll turn up sooner or later. I usually see him just after the episode airs on the "what did you think" poll.
Which one?
ReplyDeleteThe First one I think, it was made in 98' and it is on HBO2 right now.
ReplyDeleteI found Y'all. I've gotten too used to the STV updates on FB and didn't think to come straight here to find Fringe Friday.
ReplyDeletechecking ...
ReplyDeletetissue box,ok.
belgian beer,ok.
teddy-bear to hug or strangle, ok.
banana ice-cream,ok.
Ready!!! :-)
That's the good one. The one from 2008 was terrible.
ReplyDeleteTo make PERFUME! Yes.
ReplyDeleteYeah I did see the other one (I want to believe) but it wasn't memorable. I saw this one too way back but I had forgotten it mostly too. But you're right the second one was a snooze fest.
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me of last week's Once Upon a Time.
ReplyDeleteAlright you Tweeting Fringe fanatics...let's not forget to go to twitter between now and 9pm EDT to hashtag #WhereYouBelong let's get Fringe trending worldwide you crazy Fringies!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, he is a shapeshifter after all!

ReplyDelete25 MINUTES FOR FRINGE ;D
ReplyDelete25MINUTIES FOR FRINGE
ReplyDelete25 MINITUES FOR FRINGE
ReplyDeleteOh geez.
ReplyDeleteThat whole game had me a wreck! From all the reapers and Legion's... sacrifice...Thane taking on the Phantom guy... The "order vs. chaos" and the battles...It was such an amazing payoff...
Except the end didn't fit at all, and it left me in a depressed state for like a week. Until I came up with my own ending and went with that.
Shepard would never sit there and listen to that bratty little bastard.
There are SO many problems with the end, I don't even know where to start.
Yeah, I think you would definitely enjoy the story of ME... It's unbelievable, with an amazing deep and twisty story. It's really bleak and focuses on the choice of the player (everything you do changes the world around you for better or worse) and the stakes are pretty big. :P It's like the perfect combination of Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, The Walking Dead (Husks!), and some good ol' Fringe science. (really the entire game is full of wonderful specimens and terrible science experiments that run amok across entire planets)
ReplyDeleteSo yeah. :D
Oh.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's too late now.
