CW's JJ Abrams pilot Shelter finally casts a lead
12 Mar 2012
Pilot ShowsNewcomer Elizabeth Henstridge has become the first cast member in the CW’s Mark Schwahn/J.J. Abrams drama pilot Shelter. Produced by Warner Bros. TV, Shelter is set at a historic New England summer resort where the new and returning staff attend to the practical, emotional and often comical needs of the guests while navigating friendships, rivalries and romances of their own. British actress Henstridge, repped by Flutie Entertainment and U.K.’s Lois Harvey, will play Grace, a young overachiever and newly promoted hotel manager at the Shelter Bay where the show is set.
The pilot seems a little late in casting considering some CW pilots are already filming (Arrow) or starting filming this week (The Selection)

I don't remember even reading about Shelter? Could it possibly mean i might actually be checking out a show that is on the CM? Wow i never thought that would happen....
ReplyDeleteIt could just be me but in my opinion she looks a tiny, tiny bit like Jennifer Garner.
ReplyDeleteAbrams first TV show before Bad Robot became official, was Felicity and Felicity was also on the same channel (except it was the "WB" before it became the "CW")). Felicity was good because Kerri Russell's character was always making audio tapes to her friend, Sally and so she always was narrating in voice overs during each episode (like Dexter). Also there is mild Wiccan mythology that doesn't really show it's head to the end of the series, which something supernatural occurs making it stand apart from most collage-coming of age stories. (And this is where we can see how Bad Robot is going to be different in terms of telling compelling dramas) Additionally Felicity wasn't so "teen" catered that all the plots where silly, it was a very realistic approach to things young adults go through in their lives. Once Upon Time and Lost writers were also with J.J. on this!
ReplyDeleteAnother show that I wish had the chance that reminds me of this is "Six Degrees". it's another BR show, but it failed. It was on the same channel and during the same time period LOST was on....but LOST was so epic, I think people couldn't be on board with it. It was about the belief that we were all only separated by six degrees/six people...and right when the series was canceled was there something to it coming together. But the characters were unique and of all ages and became involved in each other's lives for interesting reasons.
I like the way miss Hendstridge looks and love how Bad Robot finds new and interesting cast!
ReplyDelete--Grace is also the name of Mr. Abrams' daughter! (Help us if there's a Dann-O!)
I'll never get over Six Degrees cancellation. :(
ReplyDeleteNow i can add another show,Six Degrees. How long did it last? I know the premiss of the show, the movie was out years ago with Will Smith.
ReplyDeleteYou can find it on HULU (it was never released to purchase!) Only 13 episodes!
ReplyDeleteShe's 5"4 according to MIBd...but if you listen to the DEMO REEL on their page, you can here how much British gusto her voice has!...She kind of reminds me of Keira Knightley with Rachel Weisz put together...
ReplyDeleteI thought Alias was JJ's first TV show, that i loved. I will check out Felicity, thanks Darth. I hope your feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling better now. How about you?
ReplyDeleteI appreciate Felicity so much more being older, then I did when it was on....not to say I didn't like it, but I understand it better. If you embark on it, look out for Alias' Marshell and wife Carrie (Amanda Foreman is in SO many BR works!! I love her!)
Feeling better, thanks! I'm glad you said you appreciated more as you got older,i was wondering if it would be to young for me,I love Marshall so i'm thrilled he will be in it.Is Marshall married to Amanda in real life?
ReplyDeleteI am a Felicity fan too. I think people don't give it much thought because they think of it as one of those teen shows but because it took place in college I found that it was able to explore more stories about independence in a more realistic way than that of its teen show counterparts.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone interested, it's available on Netflix and Amazon Prime.
No. LOL! Kevin Weissman's character, Earl, is pretty different compared to Marshell...but I forgot that Greg Grunberg is in both Felicity and Alias as well, and be on the look out for Jennifer Gardener too! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be like going to a family reunion, sweet! :)
ReplyDeleteJJ Abrams' shows always start out well, but then he inevitably seems to lose interest/focus.
