Scottish legend William Wallace -- portrayed by Mel Gibson in the feature Braveheart -- is getting the TV biopic treatment.

STV Productions, in association with Digital Rights Group and Los Angeles-based Nine/8 Entertainment as well as Creative Media are developing Wallace, a historical drama series based on the life of the war hero, the companies announced Monday.

  1. actually, iam a huge fan of this idea!

A mix between Starz's Spartacus and HBOs GoT - this sounds delicious to me!

  2. Did I miss something?  I'm rereading as I type, but which channel would air it were it to happen?  Is it that it's an idea in its infancy and therefore no one has bid on it or has rights to it?  Perhaps it should be a Netflix original . . . . That way I don't have to get cable!  :p

  6. Yuck, another remake.
I have nothing against the story of Wallace who was a great Scottish hero, but I can't understand putting all this effort, time and money into prequels, copying old repectable shows and rehashing films as tv series.
Come on writers, think up some good, fascinating  original stuff.

What about a new space-bound series. I really miss "going where no man has gone before!"

  9. Let's hope it's a tad more truthful to history this time round, the film completely rewrote what actually happened :s

  11. I see no problem with this.... seeing as this is a historical figure a retelling of his story is more than expected. Especially if it is well done.

  12. Even though the poosible thought to make this like Spartacus sounds cool,k I'm in the camp that the movie was so well done that it doesn't need a small screen treatment, imho

  13. LOL exactly. This show will probably be so different just because it's more historically accurate.

  14. The film was so grossly inaccurate that I'm glad that it's being redone XD
