DEADLINE reports that despite the cool trailer, "Battlestar Galactica" prequel series, "Blood and Chrome" will not be a television series, but may go back to it's original intentions as a web/digital series....
Oh come on. After all the news about this show and it sounded like it was going to be a REAL SyFy show and now they won't pick it up. That is complete and utter bullcrap!!!
I wish I had not see this coming, but given the recent track record of that channel, it's sadly no surprise.
This will never work as a webseries. Keeping the cast of the pilot, producing 10-13 episodes 44-minute episodes/year, having a decent budget : those things (already hard on SyFy) will be impossible on the net.
That leaves more money for fantasy procedurals, cheesy TV movies and real TV, I guess. If it weren't for them producing the great BSG and Caprica, I'd say that all SyFy does is make cheap crap.
Way to go, SyFy, you syfyed again (“Are people using my name to mean make a small mistake?").
I'm truly disappointed,DAMN YOU SyFy!!..If it wasn't for Warehouse 13 and Haven i wouldn't be watching this channel anymore.I would like to know wtf happened to them?
I am pretty mad too! ---I kind of hope though, that the idea to unveil such a trailer at Wondercon is a ploy to help the series get picked up. I am sort of at a point that I don't think this is necessarily the last word. The Unauthorized Trailer got so many hits and NBC-Universal had to take down SO many videos, it really shows how many BSG and/or Caprica fans have wanted to stay on board with this. There was also talk in the DeadLine article that it could still get picked up by another network.
I am not completely opposed to a digital series, as long as it is "a series"...and not just the film alone.
LOL Sci-fi could STOP wasting money in that HORRIBLES movies and do something more interesting like BSG:Blood and Chrome... it's a shame they canceled Caprica and do this for BSG? Im not happy with this decision and more ppl maybe will agree with me
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
That's a shame I was hoping this would make it. It would be nice if the SyFy channel would actually do something Sci-fi related again.....
ReplyDeleteOh, screw you, SyFy! Why must you pee on everything I love?

Argggh. Eureka is going and they aren't picking this up? How long before SyFy has not actual sci fi on it?

ReplyDeleteThank God. It looked horrible!
ReplyDeleteBring back Stargate Universe!!!
This has nothing to do with SGU, if anything, they're moving further and further away from sci-fi except for a few shows.

Wow very disappointing. :(
ReplyDeleteI'm aware I just want SGU back.
ReplyDeleteThey would probably just add on another Ghost Hunter and call it a SyFy show.
ReplyDeleteSo frustrated by this! TV needs a sci-fi show set in space and this looks great
