Thanks to Matt for the heads up.
David Morrissey (State Of Play) has landed one of the most anticipated roles on AMC’s The Walking Dead. The British actor is set to join the megahit zombie drama as a new series regular in Season 3, playing The Governor, a popular character from Robert Kirkman’s graphic novel that serves as the basis for the AMC series. The Governor is the leader of Woodbury, a small settlement of survivors, and becomes the chief antagonist for The Walking Dead‘s lead Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group.

I absolutely love David Morrisey! He can play any character and can play psycho like no other. In Dickens "Our mutual friend" he was outstanding!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderfull. Good to see that they where after a good actor, and had a good taste in it. Because they were circling John Hawkes for the role also.
ReplyDeleteNice to know that at least the Governor will appear in Season 3.
ReplyDeleteA fine actor. I havent read the comics, but he's an excellent actor and I'm sure he'll mould himself to the role brilliantly. Already looking forward to the next series, and this one isnt over yet...!
ReplyDeleteThe guy from what may be the worst Doctor Who special is playing The Governor? Morrissey has a lot of fine credits on his resume but I always associate him with that awful Who special.
ReplyDeleteI wont.
ReplyDeleteDavid Morrissey is fabulous! A briiliant actor - good to see him getting a big role.
ReplyDeleteGreat actor who can feel dangerous but not overdo it.
ReplyDeleteNot what I expected as far as looking the part, but he is brilliant so I'm excited!
Definitely looking forward to this, but someone needs to break the news to Tom Savini :)
ReplyDeleteNow I hope they tell us who will be playing Michonne... I know that Rutina Weasley(?) from True Blood has been rumored before
ReplyDeleteBut that rumor turned out to be false.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds good i do think they need to add more people to this story
ReplyDeleteI really really hope that is not true. I don´t like her on TB.
ReplyDeleteHave to admit that I don't know him at all and I can't really find anything in his résumé that I have seen. But judging from the other reactions here he seems to be a fine actor and that was somethng very important for that role so I trust that he can pull it off and do a good job.
ReplyDeleteApart from that I am kind of surprised that according to TV Line he'll appear pretty early in the season.
me too! hopfeully david is doing his character-arc in a really sadistic way (sounds crazy, does it?)
