it says : " we call him "The transporter". His job: ttransport all kind of packages anywhere and for anyone. As long as he is paid the price. His rules : No name, No change of plan, Never open the package, except when he decides to change the rules; it is what he does everytime. Chris Vance is the Transporter, soon on M6.
I rather enjoyed the first Transporter movie but the next two were kind of pathetic and repetitive. And this TV series has neither the budget nor Jason Statham being a badass, so that might be a very long shot for me. Maybe I'll try, but M6 being involved in the production of the show doesn't reassure me.
Over here M6 isn't exactly known for its quality programming of original scripted series. In my opinion, the only genuinely good drama series they came up with these last few years is Les Bleus (= The Probies), a cop dramedy that lasted 4 seasons (36 episodes) from 2006 to 2010.
But M6's landmark series are undoubtedly Caméra Café (2001-2004) and Kaamelott (2004-2009).
Both shows are hugely popular short format comedies - an episode of those shows lasts usually 4 minutes (Kaamelott evolved into an hour long program on its last 2 seasons). Caméra Café takes place in the hallway of an office space, with a camera fixed into the coffee machine. Two forgettable feature movies were produced in 2005 and 2009. Kaamelott recounts the story of King Arthur : aside from being well written and funny (the show adopts a modern day tone to medieval situations), Kaamelott is also ambitious, that's not something you can often say about a comedy. A feature trilogy is in pre-production.
The producers of Kaamelott also came up with Off Prime (2007-2008, 2 seasons - 24 episodes), another funny show airing on M6, and Hero Corp, a comedy with "superheroes" airing on Comédie/France 4 (2008-2010, 2 seasons, 30 episodes). Both series adopted a 26-minute format.
Other than Les Bleus, Caméra Café, Kaamelott and Off Prime, when I think of M6 I think of crappy reality TV shows (singing, dancing, cooking, decorating, cleaning, dating, switching members of your family, telling you how to live : they've got it all). It might not be a good sign for The Transporter series. Besides, over the first 5-6 episodes, I read they've had quite the turnover behind the scenes. They're gonna need a third showrunner now that the second one exited the show recently (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/news/a361269/transporter-tv-series-loses-second-showrunner-in-five-months.html ). That can't be a good sign either.
FYI, a story came out last month that the show is still in production, but delayed. Chris Vance is recovering from an injury and they still have 5 more episodes to film. The story said they need to hire a new showrunner to oversee those 5 remaining episodes and will try to resume filming this Spring. My guess is Transporter doesn't air in the U.S. until the Fall at the earliest.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Anyone willing to translate the voice over? Looks like it might be better than I'd expected. Though the franchise should translate to a series easily.
