I see, Fringe will get cancelled. I'm not optimistic anymore. Especially since Alcatraz and Touch (well, the pilot for one) did good. I don't want Fringe to end already :'(
Well, at least Fringe didn't drop to an all-time low. I was hoping for a 1.3 so badly :( And the sadest thing is: There's nothing I can do for Fringe's struggle for survival in Germany (except buying the DVDs which I already did)... I hope we'll get a Season 5 to finish this show how it deserves it. There's still ( a little ) hope left!
Season 8 of Supernatural is a done deal..Not only are the ratings steady, but Nikita is proving that they simply don't have another show that can survive on a Friday night.
The half hour breakdowns for SPN were .7/.8, so fingers crossed that it gets adjusted up in the finals for sole possession of 2nd place this week on the CW. :)
I really thought it would remain in 1.2 and even have more viewers. With all the twitter campaings going on the past weeks and having that many episodes in a row I expected it would do better. Plus, last night apparently was the first time that the Fringe campaign hashtag trended in the US... It had trended in other countries on past Fridays, but not in the US. This is a bummer.
I know, I hate this feeling of uncertainty. I'd rather just know because I feel like I'm not enjoying this season as much because of the constant fear that it will be the last one and that the showrunners won't be able to properly end it. I obviously want another season (13 eps is just fine) but even if it gets cancelled I just want to know asap so I can make peace with it...
Supernatural Is only doing slightly better than Nikita. Why people think Nikita Is sure to be cancled and Supernatural Is sure to be renewed baffles me.Both shows could be axed.
The CW has 4 pilots In the works.Again we don't know how the new regime at the CW regards shows. Besides The Vampire Diaries no CW show Is 100 percent safe.Based on how many promos I see for CW shows My suspecion Is Gossip Girl gets another season(It may be a final 13 episode season like One Tree Hill this season) and The Secret Circle gets renewed.
The one thing that could save Nikita and Supernatural Is the CW Is unlikely to find shows that will do better on Friday nights. And for those who think The CW would never cancle Supernatural can I remind people that when half of the CW was the WB they axed Angel. And Angel actully gained viewers In season they canned It.
Now the CW wants to do a Green Arrow show yet why didn't they try to spin off a show from Smallville.Which would have given them Instant support from SMallville viewers.
the demo is more important than the total number and in that SPN has been steady at 0,7 and 0,8 all season long while Nikita had many 0,5, not to mention the Live +7, which is less important than live-rating, yeah, but having SPN always being near number1 (and sometime #1) in the Top (in %) of how much its up, it can only help. In fact I think SPN is the only show of the network who has stay steady since the start of the season (except for the vampires)
And you have the syndication for SPN and the DVDs who are selling a lot (it was in the top sellers this automn if I remember, if someone can remember which number it was in the DVD sales).
And those were awful numbers for Secret Circle considering that it followed The Vampire Diaries at 1.2/2.72. It lost a million of those viewers. SPN increased the numbers from Nikita.
I don't know why everyone is talking about Fringe. It has exactly the same numbers that it had 2 weeks ago 1.1/3.19, and then it had reruns for competition, this week no reruns.
The real news this week is Grimm which 2 weeks ago was at 1.8/5.90. It picked up a lot of extra viewers while other shows were on hiatus, but couldn't hold onto them. 3 weeks ago it was at 1.4/4.65, very similar to this week.
I am not so sure Secret Circle has a better chance at renewal than SPN. They have very similar numbers. Secret Circle has the best lead-in they can give it (TVD) and yet it loses 1 million of those viewers. SPN is on a Friday and builds on the awful number of viewers from Nikita. The Secret Circle could easily lose 30% of its viewers next season. SPN isn't likely to lose very many since it is already down to its core viewers who would watch it even if they aired nothing but static for the whole season.
I hope to God both Nikita and Supernatural get at least one more season and that when they are finished they get a warning ahead of time so the storyline can be wrapped up properly. Especially Nikita just for the fact it's such a young show (and in my opinion a good one) and too much story is left to be told. Nikita is better than most CW shows.
Sadly 90% of the person I know who are watching one of these shows are at least watching 2, if not the 3, of them...putting them against each other by the network realy was a bad idea. You can only watch one live and record another one....and you're stuck to watch the 3rd online even if you love the 3 of them and want to encourage the 3 of them :(
and also supernatural is very much a safe bet cause it stays steady at 0.7 and 0.8 and the CW is at a 0.8 Average this season in A18-49 which is what will determine what will be renewed and cancelled a show can't be lower then 0.7 A18-49
i so agree with you about Nikita but unfortunly i doubt it will get season 3 cause the ratinbgs cant justify it ai got a 0.5 and the CW has a 0.8 that puts it at a 0.63 index which would put it at a toss up but i want a season 3 even if its only 13 episode final season to wrap everything up the CW made a huge Mistake when they put it on friday they doomed the series if they put it on Tuesday with Ringer both shows would have done better IMO and sadly most likely Nikita will end on a cliffhanger this season :(
While I agree that the difference between a 0.5 and a 0.7 isnt big at all usually when it comes to the CW this season its pretty huge.
Its a simple case of something has to give. The CW need to cancel shows in order to pick up new shows. How many shows it cancels will depend on how many shows it picks up and/or vice versa.
Nikita is still the lowest rated show on the network therefore it makes sense that the CW choose it to cancel. Its fair to cancel the lowest rated rather than the shows that have done better even if i the margin by which they have done better is very small. The only other things to factor in would be cost and contracts.
Your kidding me, slightly better? In the 18-49 (the rating that matters the most) Nikita is the worst scripted show. Supernatural is arguably the second best if you look at some factors.
Weak Lead-in (Yes Nikita is the weakest lead-in on the network) Friday at 9pm (just look at the +7 DVR ratings. It has only missed the top 5 twice this season)
Secret Circle, Ringer, Gossip Girl, 90210 & Hart of Dixie all get much more promotion than it but it has arguably outperformed all those shows but Secret Circle. But one could argue that it has performed equally to Secret Circle or maybe a tad better. Seeing is how Secret Circle has the highest rated show and was created to follow Vampire Diaries. While Supernatural has the weakest lead-in on the network and is in the worst time slot for TV.
Spoilertv has 7 listed in their pilot tracker, what is the 8th show?
Of the 7 listed, 4 are genre shows, more likely to go on Thurs/Fri. If 3 of them turn out great, SPN could be at risk. Though Joey Dakota being a musical sci-fi show could fit just about any night on CW. Beauty and the Beast could also fit earlier in the week if it isn't too genre-y.
There's always the possibility that it will be adjusted up to a 1.2 in the finals. Keep the hope. I've been talking this episode up in an attempt to encourage people behind on their Fringe viewing to get back into it. Not that they are Nielsen viewers but still.
Supernatural often adjusts up in the finals so this is really, really good news. Monday will tell. I think Supernatural is a lock for going into the 8th season. Hopefully if they become the second highest rated program going into sweeps, we will hear less speculation about season 8 being the last one. If they don't announce it as the last season right from the beginning, that increases the chances of a 9th season exponentially. I don't see the CW letting Supernatural go without as much fanfare and advanced warning as possible.
Secret Circle is going to tumble in ratings next year regardless. No way it stays matched up with Vampire Diaries. I would expect Arrow to be paired with that. Without the VD lead-in, I would expect Secret Circle to be at the same ratings as the rest of the CW.
To be honest, since the only shows I watch are Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries, which show moves to Friday matters to me only because it'll probably work as a lead in to SPN. Chances are that Secret Circle will not remain on the same day. They were hoping that it would benefit more from VD,but that didn't work out. So,I think that next year they'll put a new show on Thursday. Which show will go on Friday if Nikita is cancelled remains to be seen.Secret Circle didn't turn out as they hoped, but it's still their second/third highest rated show and I don't know if they'll risk moving it. We'll see..
There's a huge difference between a 0.5 and a 0.7, especially since Nikita is in competition with everything on the CW and it is dead last. While I can see people thinking that other shows in the 0.7 range have as much of a chance at being renewed as Supernatural, Nikita isn't even in that pack. While it is true that no show is 100% safe on any network, it is clear from the pattern of CW renewal that they like to give shows with ardent fan bases plenty of notice when their favorites are going to be canceled. As in a whole year of "this is the final season" marketing. There is no other show on the CW that has as vocal and devoted fans as Supernatural. The only two that come close are Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl. That's why I would expect a 13 episode final season for GG. The only question about Supernatural is whether they announce season 8 as the final season. At this point with the ratings, I am guessing the answer is no and we will be seeing season 9 as the final providing contract negotiations go well.
Ha! I'm not sure I would watch static but I would be fine watching the brothers reminisce on their lives while doing the laundry. At least for a couple of episodes. I think Secret Circle and Supernatural are both on the definitely renewed list. If for nothing else, Supernatural is a steady and reliable performer on a hard night and they can't cancel everything so Secret Circle is high enough on the list to outrun the cancellation bear. Besides, the CW always renews at least 1 new show. At the beginning of the season, I would have said Ringer was a shoe-in for the role. Now I think the pity renewal goes to Hart of Dixie (much like it went to Nikita last year) and Secret Circle goes on by strength of the CW's relationship with creator Kevin Williamson.
I'm hoping you're wrong about friday, yet I totally see the CW move TSC to this timeslot. They can't cancel it (unless it falls below 0.7), yet they can't keep it on Thursdays.
Based on live and live +7 ratings, SPN should totally be moved to Thursdays IMO. It still has room to grow, but not on Friday !
In completely unrelated news, what's happened to the FaceBook like button? I can never get it in Google Chrome but I used to be able to get it in Firefox. Now I don't get it in either.
I'm sure CW is wishing they could replace 7 shows, but they aren't likely to replace more than 4, unless all the pilots turn great (highly unlikely, and not that quality seems to have much to do with the selection process).
I'm not arguing that would need to replace more, but they can't exactly roll the dices on 7 news shows at the same time, they don't have the budget to promote 7 news shows at the same time. News shows cost more in promotion and could go either way, could do great...or could do the same, if not worse, than what they already have. Unlikely they'll make that bet on every single pilot they commanded
The thing that Fringe and Nikita have against then on Network TV is that they aren't network shows. They are both too good to be on basic network TV. And Nikita is too good a show to be on the CW. I pray that both nets let these shows go so that they can move onto cable a la Southland.
I agree with Friday;s being Secret Circle followed by SPN and also TVD leading in a new show. I hope you are both wrong on the other 3 days because I think it would be stupid to pair new shows with existing low rated shows, ANTM, 90210, GG and HOD are all really low now pairing them with new shows would be a massive set back for any new show right from the get go. As would be using SC or SPN as partners/lead in's for new shows. None of the shows are going to gain in the ratings, as low as they all are now they will go lower next season.
I see Secret Circle moving to Tuesday to launch a new show. It is still a high performer, at least for the CW and they have absolutely nothing better to launch a night with. Unless it dips into 0.5 range, I don't see them moving it to Friday either.
The CW won't pick up more than 3 pilots for the fall although they could add one midseason. Even if they do pick up 4 pilots Supernatural is still fairly comfortable. The chances of the CW putting a pilot on Friday is slim. The chances of them putting 2 new shows on Friday is about as good as Supernatural winning an Emmy. The biggest threat to the CW's remaining shows is actually not the drama pilots. It's the fact that the CW has been talking about bringing back a comedy night. If that happens, all bets are off. They would have a hard time bringing back Sunday programming and unfortunately those comedy reruns are golden for the affiliates. They won't have much luck getting 3 hours of programming M-F either. If a comedy block develops, that will knock an additional 2 shows out of the running.
Unfortunately shows tend to go down in ratings so I think barring a rapid change in Nielsen viewer's taste, we will be seeing more 0.6 in Supernatural's future next season. The problem with genre shows is that it takes a lot of commitment for people to start a series with multiple seasons and most TV viewers seem to want to sit down and relax. There's nothing wrong with that but it means shows like Fringe and Supernatural are far less likely to build an audience the more years they are on than say NCIS which got a huge life in viewers once it was syndicated.
The Selection - 300 years in the future competition Joey Dakota - time travel romance Shelter - Hamptons-esque hotel drama Beauty and the Beast - remade newly procedural fantasy/cop show Carrie Diaries - new shiny GG Cult - meta-tastic and therefore not likely to be picked up First Cut - medical career loser Arrow - biggest buzz of them all superhero drama
OK I'll throw my sure to be completely wrong predictions in. For me Ringer and Nikita are definitely done. Hart of Dixie may be. Gossip Girl gets a 13 episode final season a la One Tree Hill. Pilots with the biggest buzz are Arrow (by far) and Carrie Diaries. If Hunger Games does well at the box office in March (which it will) and they can successfully capitalize on that, then I say The Selection is the third series picked up. If they need another midseason, my bets are on Joey Dakota or Beauty and the Beast. If Hart of Dixie stays, my predictions are:
Monday - 90210 and new show (Carrie Diaries) Tuesday - Secret Circle and new show (The Selection) Wednesdays - truly terrible reality show and ANTM / Gossip Girl midseason Thursday - Vampire Diaries and Arrow = this is the one that has best chance of being right Friday - Hart of Dixie (or 90210 if HoD is canceled) and Supernatural, which will truly suck
If the CW does indeed create a comedy block then my predictions are:
Monday - comedy block Tuesday - 90210 and Carrie Diaries Wednesday - truly terrible reality show and ANTM / Gossip Girl midseason Thursday - Vampire Diaries and Arrow Friday - Secret Circle and Supernatural
Follow Kitchen Nightmares + Hell's Kitchen = bigger ratings, and much cheaper. Heck, they could air American Idol repeats on Friday and make money there as well. lol
Can it tick down? It's half hours are a 1.1 and a 1.2. Unless there was major overlap in a major city, it should be a 1.1 or 1.2 in the finals. However, I completely understand the desire to ignore ratings in this situation.
I can record several things at once. 2 HD recordings and additional SD ones at the same time. Not sure how many because I rarely have such overlaps in the programming I watch. The only downside is that you can't watch live TV if you have like 3+ recordings going on. But it doesn't bother me. I am recording them because I can't watch primetime TV until later in the night anyway. Not that you care. Look at me rambling....
except CW didnt pick up any comedy Pilots and i think GG will get a full season and i think it makes more sense to pair GG with Carrie Diaries then with 90210 and Wednesday i can see Beauty and the beast being pt on and hart of dixie is very likely to be renewed since its the CW' #1 show on Hulu
escept you do realize Gossip Girl is getting renewed right TVline has it as a sure thing and the producers have said the same thing also a CW assistant on Facebook told me CW Boss has renewed gossip girl for season 6 but wont announce til later this month or march yes its ratings are low but its still slightly above targer in W18-34 and is still the 2nd highest earing show on The CW earns more then everything on The CW except for Vampire Diaries and is only earing $4,000 less a 30 sec ad then TVD not only that but they are ending GG on a cliffhanger and if they cancelled it that would make alot of Fans Mad so the fact is GG is getting renewed from what im hearing i think it should get season 6 to give it a proper ending i honestly dont see Joey Dokota making it to series Beauty and the Beast has a Bigger chance of making it to series then the selection does so assuming it does get 4 series picked up which honestly i think it will be 3 like this year i can then see it going like this
Mondays
Gossip Girl The Carrie Diaries
Tuesdays
90210 Hart of Dixie
Wednesdays
Beauty and The Beast Americas next top model The Selection (Midseason Replacement)
true but are you forgetting that Both Ringer and Hart of Dixie where paired with 90210 and Gossip Girl this season? those where low rated series so i dont think it really matters with the CW cause there ratings as a whole are already low i think it depends on the show and how it is marketed SC will probaly go to where Nikita is Now and SPN will be about the Same as this season Arrow i dont see doing better then TSC on thursdays cause i think people where hoping it would be a spinoff to smallville and that they realize it isnt wont help it the premiere i expect will do well but the 2nd episode will have a big fall like TSC IMO and the CW's ratings have been doomed since January 2011 regardless of the show its is paired with or the shows on the network itself
there not going to pick up comedys cause it was reported that The CW would pickup 6-8 pilots and 7 have been ordered what would be the point of picking 1 comedy you couldnt pair another comedy with? and why would they pair Carrie Diaries with 90210 rather then Gossip Girl it is alot more likely they would pair Carrie Diaries with Gossip Girl for 3 major reasons
1. it has a similar storyline both about socialites 2. it has the same producers Josh Schrwartz and Stephanie Savage and The CW likes to pair there shows together i.e. HOD/GG 3. Targets a similar Demo W18-34
If Gossip Girl gets a full season order, then yes I think it will be paired with Gossip Girl. However, in my scenario it only gets a half season. Therefore it has to be paired with something else at half season, which of course leaves ANTM. And 8 pilots have been ordered, not 7. The SpoilerTV pilot list does not have Arrow on it and that is the most promising pilot the CW has ordered.
I don't get it. Everyone I know watches Fringe! :( I even got a lot of people at my work watching it and hooked. I do hear, "I was out Friday night" a lot, but they watch it on Demand or DVR, which I HOPE they are counting.
i am not putting anything for that yet til i have confirmation of a reality series in the midseason to my knowledge they have not ordered a reality series for the 2012-2013 season or even a pilot order for a reality series and im pretty sure that the script stage is done in the broadcast season of 2012-2013 so until i have confirmation then i will change it
I've read that the president of Fox loves Fringe but says they can't afford to keep the show going. He is looking for another network to take the show over. You'll have to wait and see on that one.
The good shows on the CW always go unappreciated. Fringe, like Supernatural, is a genre show. They also go unappreciated. I've known people who have Nielsen boxes. lol. They certainly watch the good stuff. I went out and bought seasons 1 and 2 of Fringe on blu ray. Jared Padalecki of Supernatural says the show is good, so I'm gonna give it a chance, but not during prime time opposite Supernatural. Bad time. I'll just watch the DVDs
The president of the CW is a lot smarter then the last one. He likes the show. He said that unless there was a terrible ratings drop, there would be an 8. After last year's fiasco, he did not pull Supernatural to rerun another show. He did it to some other shows on the network, but left us with reruns, which were fine as far as I was concerned. I did notice that a number of communication spots have been shot down for the CW. Probably a wise precaution on his part. To top it off, no matter what the PCA did, Supernatural beat out some major shows for Best Drama. That means fans who are active and protect the show. As long as those fans are doing those kind of things and bring a CW show to the forefront like that, I can't see him pulling it.
Besides the Vampire Diaries The only CW I really care about Is Nikita.Ringer Is just Ok.Nice to see SMG back on TV but I wouldn't kill me for It to go.Hart of Dixie Is starting to Bore me.I Only pay attenton to Gossip Girl when I know Michelle Trachtenberg Is going to be on the show.
I really be upset If Nikita gets canned.Especilly If their Is big cliffhanger. If the CW really thinks they can put another show that will do better than Nikita on friday nights they are dreaming. If Nikita gets canned The secret circle will get It's spot and will suffer the canned fate at end of season. The secret CIrcle IS already dropping with the Vampire Diaries as lead In.The only show that could survive on Friday like Smallville did would be The Vampire Diaries, and I don't see that happening.
I saw this past week as many ads for Nikita that I saw for Supernatural. One reason to gues Gossip Girl will survive Is all the ads that are shown for It.I am starting to see more ads for Ringer than hart of Dixie. So I am starting to think If ringer goes hart of Dixie will go too.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm content with that. Not a massive drop at all.
ReplyDeleteYes it would have been nice to go higher but at least it's steady.
I see, Fringe will get cancelled. I'm not optimistic anymore. Especially since Alcatraz and Touch (well, the pilot for one) did good. I don't want Fringe to end already :'(
ReplyDeleteAwful. I was hoping for at the very least a 1.2...
ReplyDeleteUgh, I'm tired of this... either renew or cancel it already...........
ReplyDeleteAgree! It's finally time to let us now for sure!
ReplyDeleteWhat else are they going to put on Friday?
ReplyDeleteI know right?! I am tired too :(
ReplyDeleteWish both fringe and nikita would have some better ratings, but it's not very rare good shows go unappreciated.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural (on a Friday at 9pm) 0.7 1.63 million viewers. Secret Circle the 2nd highest rated CW show of the week 0.7 1.74 million viewers.
ReplyDeleteEnd of Story.
Well, at least Fringe didn't drop to an all-time low. I was hoping for a 1.3 so badly :( And the sadest thing is: There's nothing I can do for Fringe's struggle for survival in Germany (except buying the DVDs which I already did)...

ReplyDeletewe'll see monday if SPN is adjusted up since it was 0.7/0.8 in the half-hour :) The story is not over yet
ReplyDeleteSo so glad for Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteThe icing on the cake would be if it gets boosted up in the finall ratings.
Way to go boys!
Let's compare Nikita and Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteDemo-Nikita 0.5 Supernatural 0.7
Overall Nikita 1.49 Supernatural 1.63

Not good. I was hoping Fringe had started a steady climb. Not giving up yet though.

Fellow Fringe fans: If you are looking for someone to blame for the 1.1 rating, please blame me. I did not watch last night's episode.
ReplyDelete*insert Ron Swanson I hate everything gif* Seriously ratings are the most depressing TV news ever
ReplyDeleteAnd those were awful numbers for Secret Circle considering that it followed The Vampire Diaries at 1.2/2.72. It lost a million of those viewers. SPN increased the numbers from Nikita.

Grimm did better when it wasn't competing with new episodes of Fringe and SPN.
ReplyDeleteThey're all related shows, that's why.

ReplyDeleteouch the ratings on Fridays are so depressing :(
ReplyDeletetrue i worry that they'ss move TSC to fridays next year and that it will suffer the same fate
ReplyDeleteSPN and CSI:NY, Fringe had a new episode.
ReplyDeleteCW actually has 8 pilots in the works not 4
ReplyDeleteSPN has a very good shot, it looks pretty grim fror Nikita though. Its only real chance is if all the new pilots are awful.
ReplyDeleteand also supernatural is very much a safe bet cause it stays steady at 0.7 and 0.8 and the CW is at a 0.8 Average this season in A18-49 which is what will determine what will be renewed and cancelled a show can't be lower then 0.7 A18-49

ReplyDeletesome PVR boxes let you record more then 2 at a time though theres a box coming out in Canada soon that lets you record 6 at once
ReplyDeletebut by now completely unsurprising?

But one could argue that it has performed equally to Secret Circle or maybe a tad better. Seeing is how Secret Circle has the highest rated show and was created to follow Vampire Diaries. While Supernatural has the weakest lead-in on the network and is in the worst time slot for TV.
Spoilertv has 7 listed in their pilot tracker, what is the 8th show?
ReplyDeleteOf the 7 listed, 4 are genre shows, more likely to go on Thurs/Fri.
ReplyDeleteAnd some people have DVRs in more than 1 room, but most people are still limited to only 2 shows at a time.
ReplyDeleteNo. But I jinxed it by not watching.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural often adjusts up in the finals so this is really, really good news.
ReplyDeleteSecret Circle is going to tumble in ratings next year regardless. No way it stays matched up with Vampire Diaries. I would expect Arrow to be paired with that. Without the VD lead-in, I would expect Secret Circle to be at the same ratings as the rest of the CW.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, since the only shows I watch are Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries, which show moves to Friday matters to me only because it'll probably work as a lead in to SPN.
ReplyDeleteChances are that Secret Circle will not remain on the same day.
We'll see..
oh my mistake i thought i counted 8 but its 7 your right but its still not 4
ReplyDeleteof course not fridfay is such a bad timeslot for a TV Show
ReplyDeleteThere's a huge difference between a 0.5 and a 0.7, especially since Nikita is in competition with everything on the CW and it is dead last.
ReplyDeletehere's my predictions for the CW's Schedule next Year
ReplyDeleteMondays
Gossip Girl
The Carrie Diaries
Tuesdays
90210
Hart of Dixie
Wednesdays
Beauty and the Beast
Americas nrext Top Model
Thursdays
Vampire Diaries
Arrow
Fridays
The Secret Circle
Supernatural
Now I think the pity renewal goes to Hart of Dixie (much like it went to Nikita last year) and Secret Circle goes on by strength of the CW's relationship with creator
ReplyDeleteKevin Williamson.
6 TV shows at once? There's never enough on TV that I want to watch where I would need 6 shows to be recorded.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping you're wrong about friday, yet I totally see the CW move TSC to this timeslot. They can't cancel it (unless it falls below 0.7), yet they can't keep it on Thursdays.
ReplyDeleteBased on live and live +7 ratings, SPN should totally be moved to Thursdays IMO. It still has room to grow, but not on Friday !
In completely unrelated news, what's happened to the FaceBook like button? I can never get it in Google Chrome but I used to be able to get it in Firefox. Now I don't get it in either.
ReplyDeleteLast night yes but when Grimm got its 1.8 high I don't believe Fringe or SPN aired new episodes did they? I might be recalling wrong.
ReplyDeleteI'll go with this:
ReplyDeleteMonday
Beauty and the Beast
Hart of Dixie
Tuesday
90210
The Carrie Diaries
Wednesday
The Selection
Next Top Model
Thursday
Vampire Diaries
Arrow
Friday
The Secret Circle
Supernatural
I don't have it in Firefox, nor do i have the Getglue button.
ReplyDeleteBummer, I was hoping there was something interesting I hadn't heard about/
ReplyDeleteits not because they commanded 7 pilots that it will turn into 7 shows either
ReplyDeleteI'm sure CW is wishing they could replace 7 shows, but they aren't likely to replace more than 4, unless all the pilots turn great (highly unlikely, and not that quality seems to have much to do with the selection process).
ReplyDeleteI'm not arguing that would need to replace more, but they can't exactly roll the dices on 7 news shows at the same time, they don't have the budget to promote 7 news shows at the same time. News shows cost more in promotion and could go either way, could do great...or could do the same, if not worse, than what they already have. Unlikely they'll make that bet on every single pilot they commanded
ReplyDeleteThe thing that Fringe and Nikita have against then on Network TV is that they aren't network shows. They are both too good to be on basic network TV. And Nikita is too good a show to be on the CW. I pray that both nets let these shows go so that they can move onto cable a la Southland.
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm not surprised although it is depressing
ReplyDeleteI would say that it is a bad timeslot for the prime age target group that the networks love!
ReplyDeleteI know--I was wondering about that. I don't use that button often but when I did want to use it in the last few days I couldn't find it
ReplyDeleteI agree with Friday;s being Secret Circle followed by SPN and also TVD leading in a new show.
ReplyDeleteI see Secret Circle moving to Tuesday to launch a new show. It is still a high performer, at least for the CW and they have absolutely nothing better to launch a night with. Unless it dips into 0.5 range, I don't see them moving it to Friday either.
ReplyDeleteThe CW won't pick up more than 3 pilots for the fall although they could add one midseason.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately shows tend to go down in ratings so I think barring a rapid change in Nielsen viewer's taste, we will be seeing more 0.6 in Supernatural's future next season.
ReplyDeleteBy my count there are 8:
ReplyDeleteThe Selection - 300 years in the future competition
Joey Dakota - time travel romance
Shelter - Hamptons-esque hotel drama
Beauty and the Beast - remade newly procedural fantasy/cop show
Carrie Diaries - new shiny GG
Cult - meta-tastic and therefore not likely to be picked up
First Cut - medical career loser
Arrow - biggest buzz of them all superhero drama
ReplyDeleteMonday - 90210 and new show (Carrie Diaries)
Tuesday - Secret Circle and new show (The Selection)
Wednesdays - truly terrible reality show and ANTM / Gossip Girl midseason
Thursday - Vampire Diaries and Arrow = this is the one that has best chance of being right
Friday - Hart of Dixie (or 90210 if HoD is canceled) and Supernatural, which will truly suck
If the CW does indeed create a comedy block then my predictions are:
Monday - comedy block
Tuesday - 90210 and Carrie Diaries
Wednesday - truly terrible reality show and ANTM / Gossip Girl midseason
Thursday - Vampire Diaries and Arrow
Friday - Secret Circle and Supernatural
I learned cable went out on Grimm for some, last night. So they saved it for later.
ReplyDeleteThere's also the chance it'll get ticked down... I would just like to ignore the final ratings lol
ReplyDeleteFollow Kitchen Nightmares + Hell's Kitchen = bigger ratings, and much cheaper.
ReplyDeleteHeck, they could air American Idol repeats on Friday and make money there as well. lol
Can it tick down? It's half hours are a 1.1 and a 1.2. Unless there was major overlap in a major city, it should be a 1.1 or 1.2 in the finals. However, I completely understand the desire to ignore ratings in this situation.
ReplyDeleteSame as you and Laura, here. No Facebook like button, no Getglue.
ReplyDeleteBRB. crying in the corner over Fringe right now.
ReplyDeleteI can record several things at once.
ReplyDeleteexcept CW didnt pick up any comedy Pilots and i think GG will get a full season and i think it makes more sense to pair GG with Carrie Diaries then with 90210 and Wednesday i can see Beauty and the beast being pt on and hart of dixie is very likely to be renewed since its the CW' #1 show on Hulu
ReplyDeleteescept you do realize Gossip Girl is getting renewed right TVline has it as a sure thing and the producers have said the same thing also a CW assistant on Facebook told me CW Boss has renewed gossip girl for season 6 but wont announce til later this month or march yes its ratings are low but its still slightly above targer in W18-34 and is still the 2nd highest earing show on The CW earns more then everything on The CW except for Vampire Diaries and is only earing $4,000 less a 30 sec ad then TVD not only that but they are ending GG on a cliffhanger and if they cancelled it that would make alot of Fans Mad so the fact is GG is getting renewed from what im hearing i think it should get season 6 to give it a proper ending i honestly dont see Joey Dokota making it to series Beauty and the Beast has a Bigger chance of making it to series then the selection does so assuming it does get 4 series picked up which honestly i think it will be 3 like this year i can then see it going like this
ReplyDeleteMondays
Gossip Girl
The Carrie Diaries
Tuesdays
90210
Hart of Dixie
Wednesdays
Beauty and The Beast
Americas next top model
The Selection (Midseason Replacement)
Thursdays
Vampire Diaries
Arrow
Fridays
Secret Circle
Supernatural
true but are you forgetting that Both Ringer and Hart of Dixie where paired with 90210 and Gossip Girl this season? those where low rated series so i dont think it really matters with the CW cause there ratings as a whole are already low i think it depends on the show and how it is marketed SC will probaly go to where Nikita is Now and SPN will be about the Same as this season Arrow i dont see doing better then TSC on thursdays cause i think people where hoping it would be a spinoff to smallville and that they realize it isnt wont help it the premiere i expect will do well but the 2nd episode will have a big fall like TSC IMO and the CW's ratings have been doomed since January 2011 regardless of the show its is paired with or the shows on the network itself
ReplyDeletethere not going to pick up comedys cause it was reported that The CW would pickup 6-8 pilots and 7 have been ordered what would be the point of picking 1 comedy you couldnt pair another comedy with? and why would they pair Carrie Diaries with 90210 rather then Gossip Girl it is alot more likely they would pair Carrie Diaries with Gossip Girl for 3 major reasons
ReplyDelete1. it has a similar storyline both about socialites
2. it has the same producers Josh Schrwartz and Stephanie Savage and The CW likes to pair there shows together i.e. HOD/GG
ReplyDeleteWhere are you putting the reality show that the CW will inevitably try next season?
ReplyDeleteI don't watch Fringe, but will probably start again soon, but this is disappointing...
ReplyDeleteOh, well I didn't look at the half-hours, but it does happen. O.o
ReplyDeleteI don't get it. Everyone I know watches Fringe! :( I even got a lot of people at my work watching it and hooked. I do hear, "I was out Friday night" a lot, but they watch it on Demand or DVR, which I HOPE they are counting.
ReplyDeletethats true but thee are other things to record other then TV Shows such as sports and Movies
ReplyDeletei am not putting anything for that yet til i have confirmation of a reality series in the midseason to my knowledge they have not ordered a reality series for the 2012-2013 season or even a pilot order for a reality series and im pretty sure that the script stage is done in the broadcast season of 2012-2013 so until i have confirmation then i will change it
ReplyDeleteugh!!! I was hoping A Gifted Man would be up in ratings this week .. I guess there's no more hope for it now :( sucks!
ReplyDeleteI am so depressed about the ratings for Fringe but what you just said made me laugh(a belly laugh) and brought a smile to my face.Thank you! :P
ReplyDeleteI've read that the president of Fox loves Fringe but says they can't afford to keep the show going. He is looking for another network to take the show over. You'll have to wait and see on that one.
ReplyDeleteThe good shows on the CW always go unappreciated.
ReplyDeleteThe president of the CW is a lot smarter then the last one.
ReplyDeleteBesides the Vampire Diaries The only CW I really care about Is Nikita.Ringer Is just Ok.Nice to see SMG
ReplyDeleteback on TV but I wouldn't kill me for It to go.Hart of Dixie Is starting to Bore me.I Only pay attenton to
Gossip Girl when I know Michelle Trachtenberg Is going to be on the show.
I really be upset If Nikita gets canned.Especilly If their Is big cliffhanger. If the CW really thinks they can
put another show that will do better than Nikita on friday nights they are dreaming. If Nikita gets canned
The secret circle will get It's spot and will suffer the canned fate at end of season. The secret CIrcle IS already dropping with the Vampire Diaries as lead In.The only show that could survive on Friday like
Smallville did would be The Vampire Diaries, and I don't see that happening.
I saw this past week as many ads for Nikita that I saw for Supernatural. One reason to gues Gossip Girl
will survive Is all the ads that are shown for It.I am starting to see more ads for Ringer than hart of Dixie.
So I am starting to think If ringer goes hart of Dixie will go too.
Yipieee! A Gifted Man is picking up! So awesome now it just has to stay like this or go even higher! PLEASE don't cancel this show!!
ReplyDelete
