-Ratings Breakdown:
Fox moved into the Monday overnight winners circle care of live last minute coverage of The Daytona 500 at an estimated 8.6 rating/13 share from 8-11 p.m. Comparably, the 8-10 p.m. portion outdelivered year-ago occupants House (7.0/11) and The Chicago Code (5.3/ on Feb. 28, 2011 by an average of 34 percent; and the week-ago combination of House (4.7/ 7) and Alcatraz (4.1/ 6) on Feb. 20 by 89 percent. But it was still not enough to beat NBC’s competing The Voice, which scored a 9.3/15 with a first-place finish in each of the half-hours.
Here are the half-hour breakdowns for both:
The Voice (NBC)
8:00 p.m.: 8.8/13 (#1)
8:30 p.m.: 9.5/14 (#1)
9:00 p.m.: 9.5/14 (#1)
9:30 p.m.: 9.6/14 (#1)
Daytona 500 (Fox)
8:00 p.m.: 8.4/13 (#2)
8:30 p.m.: 8.4/12 (#2)
9:00 p.m.: 7.8/11 (#2)
9:30 p.m.: 8.4/12 (#2)
10:00 p.m.: 9.9/15 (#1)
10:30 p.m.: 9.2/15 (#1)
Week four of Smash on NBC picked up some steam, with a 4.9/ 8 at 10 p.m., which was up by seven percent from one week earlier (4.6/ 8 on Feb. 20). But comparably that finished fourth in the overnights in the time period, with retention out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of The Voice of only 51 percent. Yes, Smash is a disappointment.
CBS was on the map thanks to its combination of How I Met Your Mother (#3: 6.5/10), freshman hit 2 Broke Girls (#3: 7.4/11), Two and a Half Men (#2: 8.4/12), Mike & Molly (#3: 7.0/10) and Hawaii Five-O (#2t, 6.4/10), which featured a guest shot by James Caan. Keep in mind, through, that the overall year-to-year overnight growth of 17 percent for CBS is a result of Two and a Half Men running out of original episodes. You recall that whole Charlie Sheen brouhaha, don’t you?
Despite the severity of the competition, ABC was on the map care of The Bachelor (6.3/ 9 from 8-10 p.m.) and Castle, which tied aforementioned Hawaii Five-O on CBS for second in the overnights in the 10 p.m. hour with a 6.4/10. Here is the half-hour breakdown for The Bachelor:
The Bachelor (ABC)
8:00 p.m.: 6.3/ 9 (#4)
8:30 p.m.: 6.1/ 9 (#4)
9:00 p.m.: 6.2/ 9 (#4)
9:30 p.m.: 6.5/10 (#4)
Last, and very least, was CW duo Gossip Girl and Hart of Dixie at a mere 1.1/ 2 in the overnights each. Compared to year-ago occupants 90210 and Gossip Girl, this was an average loss of 21 percent.

It's sad Smash was only up a tenth of a point vs last week, but this episode was a fantastic improvement from last week's.
ReplyDeleteThank god the ratings went up a bit for GG, now we wont have to suffer for the chair fans bullshit.
ReplyDeleteWell, it depends on what the finals are. A 1.1 isn't that good, the writers don't care about the ratings/viewers.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for Chairios now!! Ratings are up because of Dair??
ReplyDeleteThose ratings are still horrendous with or without dair.
ReplyDeleteSmash is getting awesome, I so hope it survives!
ReplyDeleteI've only watched the first 2 Smash episodes. Don't know if I'll catch up. Love me some Anjelica Huston but the show has done little to pull me in. I'm also not a fan of theatr.e But that shouldn't be an issue. I mean, I'm not a fan of football but Friday Night Lights was incredible television.
ReplyDeleteAnd somehow the CW is considering this crap for another season.
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm kind of disappointed by Smash, I liked the first 2 eps but last week was unbearable and this week's I haven't finished yet. There is something missing from the show.
ReplyDeleteYay for the CBS comedy block! (Minus Two and a HAlf Men.)
ReplyDeleteactually thats still second worst rated episode and only reason it went a tiny bit up again was because people didnt see canadian promooo + if you look at proper half way through 230,000 tuned out and it went down to 1.05 officially the lowest half anyones ever watched :D
ReplyDeletealready said this but actually thats still second worst rated episode and only reason it went a tiny bit up again was because people didnt see canadian promooo + if you look at proper half way through 230,000 tuned out and it went down to 1.05 officially the lowest half anyones ever watched :D
ReplyDeleteNASCAR ruined the night!
ReplyDeleteHIMYM's ratings are down cause of the crappy writing. I barely watched last nights episode but that's cause I am so loving The Voice right now.
ReplyDeleteI will never understand the appeal of NASCAR.. but I'm glad that Mike and Molly got a mention!
ReplyDeleteWhere's House?
