  1. Oh Fringe. I think it will take nothing short of a miracle to get you picked up this year. Dropping below 3 million viewers must be an all-time low. :(

    ReplyDelete
  2. I just don't understand. Something's not right here. Grrr

    ReplyDelete
  3. It's a real shame, one of the only shows that doesn't assume you're an idiot, with great writing and acting and it has one of the lowest ratings on the major networks. But great shows often go unappreciated :(

    ReplyDelete
  4. Son of a bitch. Fringe continues its mind blowing streak, and the ratings go DOWN. What the fuck kind of world do we live in where extremely high quality shows like this are always on the verge of cancellation, but shows that are filled with crude sex jokes (*cough* Two and a Half Men *cough*) are massively successful?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Technically, the ratings held...lol At least it didn't go to a 0.9 or something.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Miracles do happen :)

    ReplyDelete
  7. Honestly? I guess the ratings are from another universe. Because in this universe Fringe is mindblowing, epic and simply perfect. I won't ever understand why the ratings continue to go down.
*Hoping for a miracle namend Season 5* :(

  8. Just so you know, there have been MASSIVE, I mean MASSIVE declines ALL WEEK in all network shows. (Grey's hit all time low, How I Met Your Mother, Idol down 34% this Thursday from last year.) So much so that they are having Nielsen re-run all of their numbers. (And Nielsen's excuse for the low numbers on Monday was that everyone was out celebrating Lincoln's birthday. I kid you not...there is a NY Times article on it.) So the fact that Fringe held while even Kitchen Nightmares dropped from a 1.6 (or 1.5) from their previous week is pretty stellar.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yeah, there were many declines this week, Fringe probably would have been up this week had the viewership and ratings drops across all networks never occurred. Fringe will probably be up to 1.2 next week with 3 million plus viewers again.

    ReplyDelete
  10. God I hope you're right. Next week, it might be the same; because of President's Day. And, another thing: Through every episode thus far, we haven't dipped under 1.0 (take that Richard Steven Hack!).

    ReplyDelete
  11. I was actually really afraid of that because of all the all time lows this week...

    ReplyDelete
  12.  I'm really curious to see the other ratings for the other nets on Fri. They always print Fringe stuff first b/c it gets the most reaction and site hit, but I'm surprised that no one is noting the Kitchen Nightmares plummet. That's MASSIVE. Also Modern Family dropped significantly this week as well. There were a few good/funny articles on it in the NY Times and Deadline if anyone feels like reading them. It's funny b/c they nets are acting like they have 'no idea' what is causing this decline everywhere. Here's a hunch...NO ONE watches TV LIVE anymore. Just a guess...lol!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Really? I hadn't been keeping that close an eye, I just couldn't remember ever seeing them dip below 3m before! I'll adjust 'all-time low' to 'almost an all-time low' so. :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. That Nikita rose at all, especially on a week when almost everything else was down, make me happy, though obviously it's still in serious danger.  Please don't be adjusted down in the finals on Monday *fingers crossed*

    ReplyDelete
  15. And, Fringe beat the NAACP Image Awards in the demo and total viewers. You know, I'm starting to feel better already.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Santos de dios Fringe!? I mean really? I'm starting to think this year's more messed up than last... Too many interruptions... I can live in hope, that's all I've got to say... It's not time to start singing Ayudame Dios Mio yet... *Heh, a little inside joke between me and my sister* Last night had to be one of the best epi's yet and we lose viewers? What's wrong with this picture? *EVERYTHING*

    ReplyDelete
  17. fringe's fan aren't support, when they're saying they are fan of .nothing to surprise i know it going to low rating.

    ReplyDelete
  18. maybe people's mind are made of custard,no brain to think

    ReplyDelete
  19. if it that rating is low than no talking or thinking of renewal.

    ReplyDelete
  20. can't hope or praying when no body watch live & dvr at same time

    ReplyDelete
  21.  Exactly. Remember FOX used to air them and they gave up the contract cause it would hurt their Friday night in sweeps - and this awards show has to run in Feb to coincide with Black History Month. So what Fringe got last night was a major improvement on what FOX had in the same spot last year.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Why do the Fringe numbers always look so low when it seems to be the most popular show on most websites?! Is someone hiding or manipulating the numbers?! Come on people....just atleast leave ur tv sets on while Fringe is being broadcast! pleasssseee!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I remember that last year. NBC must be regretting taking that contract.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Damn straight. It's the same deal with Jersey Shore.

    ReplyDelete
  25. That's cause not everyone has a Nielsen box. I think the rating system is pish-posh. Gives an idea maybe, but does not truly represent the numbers watching.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh but 20 million people who watch NCIS do?

      Delete
  26.  I wonder how long the contract is with NBC? FOX had it for quite a while. And Feb Sweeps aren't as 'big' as they used to be in the past, a .8 isn't good for a struggling net during any sweeps month. They took a risk at least...lol!

    ReplyDelete
  27. One day I will save myself the heartache and stop looking at ratings, one day.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Is it just me or is Supernatural just straight up FLAT at a 0.7 with 1.68 million viewers? it might not be that notable but I don't believe it gets more consistent than that.

Well, 20 million, and a 4.0 for every episode of NCIS is also amazingly consistent every episode, but that's out of scope for what I'm talking about. :P

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah, we had a horrible 2 weeks where it was 1.1 and 2.87 and then barely under 3 million...then an upswing to 1.2 with 3.6 million if I remember correctly, and since then, a flat 1.1 for a few weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  30. a 1.1 is also pretty much a lock for cancellation...

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well, this isn't an all-time low. It IS for the rating, but that's BEEN at 1.1... but the overall viewer count HAS been lower. Let's just hope it doesn't continue to drop!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh Man.A piece of good news.Nikita rose slighty to a 0.6 In Demo. That means In 18-48 Demo more were watching Nikita this week than Gossip Girl. And this week noone can dispute Supernatural only
did slightly better than Nikita. It got 0.7 In Demo to Nikita's 0.6.In overall Nikita got 1.60 and Supernatural
    1.68.

Now to further make a point I made In another thread this week Ringer which gets tons of ads got a 0.9
    which Is higher than Supernatural.

I am hoping the CW realizes on Fridays they aren't going to do any better than Nikita and Supernatural
and just keeps the lineup Intact and It Is on Mondys-thursday they put new shows on.That would please
fans of their 2 biggest male watched shows. It's mostly women who watch other CW shows with exception Of Vampire Diaries and Ringer.

Fans of Fringe should remember plenty of other Fox shows never got the chances they have gotten. They got to a fourth season.I wish Firefly,The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and DollHouse would
have gotten that chance.Hell I would have like one full 22 episode season of DollHouse.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love the silver lining. :)
Great point, and I was unaware of this trend.

    ReplyDelete
  34. We need all the tiny and diminutive victories we can get.
Rome wasn't conquered in a day...and maybe Fringe won't be conquered this season. lol

    ReplyDelete
  35. I just can´t believe this ratings, how many people own Nielsen box
versus the real number of viewers?  I´m just not  telling about Fringe,
but in general. Can someone tell me the proportion of real audience in America and those, who have been participating in this "objective measuring"?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well, if these ratings stay like this, you won't have to worry about looking at Fringe's ratings for much longer....

    Just saying. :(

    ReplyDelete
  37. Fringe fans, we really need to double our efforts in getting the word out online. Next week's episode looks like a big one, and it could be the perfect chance to get old viewers to come back if we can only take advantage of it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think the declines this week could have been a result of the proximity to Valentines Day. People don't really celebrate President's Day, so we can't use that as an excuse if the ratings drop for what looks like the biggest episode of the show's run.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Only about 100,000 households are measured for the Nielsens, so them thinking they can measure viewers in the 10s of millions is a HUGE extrapolation.

    ReplyDelete
  40.  This makes me want to cry,i can't believe its this bad...but it is and its making me sick.

    ReplyDelete
  41. You're absolutely right. We've got to run the demo up to at least 1.3, and viewers back over 3 million. How do you think we can do that?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Robert thank you for your answer :))), in every way,  Nielsen ratings aren´t reliable indicators of real viewership,  I think there is time and realm for change of this measuring, it would be great, if there will be a possibility to alter this way :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Gusto, I think that in the alternate universe, they are so blessed, that they have objective measuring system of viewership and Fringe breaks all records :)))

    ReplyDelete
  44. yeeees, nikita 0.6 !!! makes me happy :)))

    ReplyDelete
  45. I believe that, cause they're more advanced over there :D. And, son of a bitch, HIMYM is probably a lot funnier over there too :D

    ReplyDelete
  46. looks like A Gifted Man is doing slightly better in the new time slot .. wish that helps the show :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. For this week's ratings (for every show and every net) it was literally every single day this week, not just Valentine's day (Tuesday) that saw the drastic declines. That's why the nets are having Nielsen 'go back and check' to see what happened/is happening.

    ReplyDelete
  48. "Now to further make a point I made In another thread this week Ringer which gets tons of ads got a 0.9 which Is higher than Supernatural."

What are you talking about? Ringer only did 0.4 in the finals this week. Ringer hasn't had an 0.9 in A18-49 since 9/27/11 unless you're referring to a younger demo (A18-34, W18-34). Yes, I agree about all the Promos for Ringer - I found them extremely annoying.

    I like Nitita, too.

    ReplyDelete
  49. My day just got the worst ending :(

..and SERIOUSLY!.. what are people doing on Friday nights??!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Can't agree more.

I am tired of this..I jus need to know for sure. I need time to get ready to say bye. I hate saying goodbyes and I honestly can't imagine not having Fringe in my life right now :(

    ReplyDelete
  51. The optimist in me wins every freaking time!.. and I come..for this :(

    ReplyDelete
  52. Can't complain, Fringe has been steady with a 1.1 for the last several weeks now and that slight uptick the other week to 1.2. And this makes that Richard Steven Hack person look like an idiot since he made his 'prediction' that by episode 13 Fringe would fall to 1.0 in the demo by now which, guess what, HASN'T HAPPENED YET! :D

    ReplyDelete
  53. it is an excuse for holidays, what about regular weeks we low on rating compare to other bad show steady of millions viewers. For the show that scream amazing, we are all time low compares to s01-3

    ReplyDelete
  54. And you have to consider than Nielsens seem to be ''against'' genre shows or people who could love them, I know a friend who live the US who once had a chance for a box, she needed to complet a questionnary where she pretty much said that she didn't like reality tv, doesn't listen to the romance tv, doesn't listen much to procedural shows, she likes scifi, she likes old music rock and that sort of stuff, and she got an answer from Nielsen that she couldn,t have the box cause she wasn't the ',average'' type

And after people are wondering why genre shows are having small viewers while vampires and reality tv is having huge numbers, its because Nielsen chose who they want

    ReplyDelete
  55. WOW... Fringe... I think we need a miracle indeed. I've seen shows with much more viewers getting cancelled...

    ReplyDelete
  56.  That's not fair. I am HUGE Fringe fan. And I can't watch live for two legitimate good reasons. The most important being that I work on Friday nights.

    ReplyDelete
  57.  That's interesting. I didn't realize they screen prospective subjects. No wonder genre tv has always suffered in the ratings. Fucking Nielsen. It's such a joke. This is just further evidence of that.

    ReplyDelete
  58.  I have to work on Friday nights. Not that it matters since I don't have a Nielsen box. :/

    ReplyDelete
  59. The only shows that have done better than Supernatural in demo this week are One Tree Hill and Vampire Diaries.  However, if Supernatural gets adjusted up like it has for the past several weeks, it would be tied with One Tree Hill at an 0.8.  Perhaps you meant that Nikita did better than Ringer did this week and that would be true.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Why do you guys care what Robert Steven Hack thinks?  He has no power.  He isn't even on this site.  Haters are going to hate.  Just ignore him....on that other website.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Last week Supernatural ended up at a 1.88 and a 0.8 in demo.  But yes, it seems pretty consistent.  I would expect it to adjust up again on Mondays but that may just be wishful thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  62. We just never know, we got adjusted twice around 1,69-1,72M, and we're at 1,68 for the first numbers, maybe the final number will go up just a little , just enough to push it to 0,8 :) ...but yeah, nothing's sure, it will be a close call

    ReplyDelete
  63. Why the hell don't people watch Fringe.I woke up in the middle of the night just to help with the #BeABetterMan trend and read people's reactions about the episode before I watched it myself...
    Come on,now!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Is there a chance Fringe get purchased by one of the cable channels? Clearly, the show has a niche.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ouch for Supernatural :(

    ReplyDelete
  66. the demos are a lot ..LOT...more important than the total number of viewers and in demo, SPN has been steady since the beginning of the season,  0,7 and 0,8 in all the final demos. SPN and the vampires are the only 2 shows who haven't drop since their return and being adjusted up to 0,8 is still possible , we've done it twice with more or less that same number of total viewers

    So don't worry :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Oh I know. And S8 is very likely especially when the other shows underperforming as they are. It just is that it is sad to see the numbers for Supernatural when not two years ago 1.68 was for a rerun not a new episode you know?

    ReplyDelete
  68. I know what you mean :( but I think there's has something to do with the whole CW falling and not only SPN, others shows are failling harder. Where I live I need to pay to get the CW while I can have ABC, NBC, FOX and all the others big for ''free'' (I mean I just have to pay my tv and not something else just to have them) and I heard its the same in other regions. Maybe some person decided they didn't want to pay anymore for the channel as a whole

    ReplyDelete
  69. *nods* I know (I'm not from the US but I get it). I think that it factors into how they market/renew shows but honestly? the CW is doing much worse (I think) then both the WB and the UPN did and that isn't a good thing.

If they don't have a hit on their hands soon or in a couple of years- I don't think that they will keep going...although their demo target seems to be very limited as are the genres they chose. Genre isn't what makes ratings unfortunately.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Or if they could stop pay the people pay to have it. I'm sure they could gain more money if they could have more viewers and sold publicity at a bigger price. Sometime I wonder myself if i should keep paying 5$/month to watch SPN while I could wait 1 hour and have it for free online

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yeah, Friday's not a good night. People work or visit family or go out. I have a boring life so I'm always in my room at night.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Exactly. It's biased. I knew it!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Not sure if Spoiler-TV reports this because I just checked last week's ratings and there is nothing there, but Supernatural was adjusted up again this week to 0.8 for Adults 18-49 and 1.74 in total viewers.

For a 'network' like The CW, 0.7 to  0.8 makes a certain difference, especially when considering the chances of renewal..

    ReplyDelete
  74. You beat me to it. :)

I myself, was just going to comment on the adjustment up of Supernatural.

Well done show and well done the Nielsen Box owners, a steady amount of whom ,lately, have been consistent with the show, even against Grimm and Fringe.

Perhaps the showings on the TNT channel have attracted more people.

Having said that however, I would love it if the  show hit a higher rating to give an ulterior satisfaction to the fans, and a thumbs down to those detractors who say the show should end!.
